Ehh, almost every university in the US is a woke cesspool. Go to the best one you can into, get a degree that’s actually marketable and ignore the feminist dance theory majors who will be working at Starbucks for the rest of their lives while drowning in student loan debt.
I am at a good public university in the US and during my first semester I saw how stupidly woke people could be. It wasn't the fact that they were woke but the fact that they were woke and their arguments were extremely stupid.
There was a Christian preacher that was invited on campus by the Christian club and they preached in a central place on campus that a lot of the clubs table at. The LGBT club didn't like that they were there and proceeded to act like children for the 2 days the person was there. For example, they walked up to the preacher and stood inches from them getting in their face and when he asked them to respect his space and stop touching him they just kept saying "we're not touching you"
Later on they were arguing about gay people and when he stopped to take a breath a few times since he had been yelling to be heard they accused him of mocking George Floyd because of how he was breathing (despite the fact he had not been mentioned at all). Later on someone who was actually respectful asked a question and he told a story about how his faith helped him through the hard time after his wife miscarried and one of the same people from the LGBT club said "maybe God killed your baby" and they laughed.
It is sad how these people act
>When he stopped to take a breath they accused him of mocking george floyd
I mean it's a well known fact that saint George invented heavy breathing and his iconic catchphrase "I can't breathe" so it's kinda the racist bigoted preacher's fault for being so insensitive 😏
If they’re anything like the “Christian” preaching group that comes to my campus it was well deserved. They came with signs that said “all women are whores” and “homos deserve aids” and a list of everyone they thought was going to hell which included Jews, people who watch porn, people who drink, the pope, feminists, etc. They took out megaphones and set up in the middle of campus. Then they yelled at everyone passing by telling them they would burn in hell for their sins.
Our school can’t do anything about it bc it’s technically public property where they set up.
Imagine the backlash from christians though if a group of atheists set up outside their church and yelled anti Christian hate lmao
Like you don’t think this group did that? Here’s an article from my school newspaper with a good picture of some of them with their signs. They come every year at least once and apparently go to other colleges too.
https://www.thedp.com/article/2021/10/penn-christian-group-protest-locust-walk
Another article from a while back abt them:
https://thetab.com/us/penn/2016/09/15/theres-hate-preacher-campus-right-now-saying-jews-gays-go-hell-2511
Apparently they even said women shouldn’t be college educated
Yeah idk if the uk just has less of a problem with extreme fundamentalist Christianity. These guys are definitely in no way representative of most American Christian groups though and are openly mocked on campus whereas other religious groups are respected.
This guy was somewhat reasonable and respectful most of the time but I (as a Christian) disagreed with some of things he said. For example, at one point he suggested that women who wear revealing clothing and get assaulted are partly at fault which I think is a terrible statement.
He wouldn't yell at people and would only talk to people that engaged with him first and he didn't break any rules. Though the campus police had to come over once since people from the LGBT club took his Bible so he grabbed their speaker that they were using to play music over him.
He was more respectful than the guy who will stand around in a loose shirt and tiny shorts a few times a week and scream at people about Linux, string theory, the N word, how technology is destroying our planet and natural resources, various conspiracies, how women need to dress more modestly, and quantum physics. He got banned for a few years and the ban expired like a week ago and less than 2 days later he was banned again for screaming the N word on campus.
Idk where your at but I live in Florida and my local college has a couple dude that do the same thing. It was kinda funny to walk by and say something edgy when I was 18, but now I just ignore them
obviously what they did is childish and bad, but
christian club inviting a preacher to preach at campus (assuming in a public place)? kinda cringe ngl.
Christians having their own club, minding their own business, and inviting a Christian leader to come speak to them for 2 days *is cringe*? Grow the fuck up.
>come speak to them
i speciffically said that its cringe if its a public place
not a fan of public preachers
no need to get so personally offended lmao
The stem/engineering school that I went to wasn't that bad. The day Trump won back in 2016 I remember there is a group of 10 or less women picketing. While I did have two openly feminist teachers they were actually nice like they were not the man hating type. But yeah, any other university is probably going to be bad in that regard.
I was in college during the 2016 election and I remember one student wrote in chalk “Trump 2016” in an area on the school where it’s public space and therefore they didn’t break any university rules/laws doing this.
It blew up and became such a huge deal the dean of our university sent an email to all students and faculties about how this traumatized people and all the usual bullshit rhetoric and buzzwords you can imagine.
I didn’t vote for Trump but it’s that kind of horseshit that made me sympathetic to people who did.
Hey I mean even with the woke stuff most of it can be ignored.
If anybody asks you anything political just say "sorry I don't know much about politics"
Public school teacher with a side career of selling erotica on Amazon to keep food on your table.
You joke about how bad 50 Shades of Gray is but you secretly hope for just 1% of it's success. Sadly it never happens for you.
I'll still read your stuff though.
Student here. You're not wrong about the school and faculty, but I'd say a solid 2/3 of students here are tired of the bullshit and are turning against much of it at this point, we're sick of it.
Huh actual literal segregation. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t that exactly what the Civil Rights movement the woke crowd claim to love so much pretty much entirely against in the first place because it separated people by color instead of character/personality?
Hey now you’re getting it! But remember being colorblind (treating people by their character not their skin tone) is racist and has been for a few years now because enough people have forgotten about the civil rights movement of the 50s
The people who wanted to divide by race in the past are the same ones that want to divide by race today.
The people who valued life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness in the past are the same ones that value it today.
No, not the constitution, but the civil rights act of 1964.
Voluntary segregation is fine. They couldn't remove a white person from the PoC Cafe, for example. They could verbally harass a white person for being there (free speech).
Had a friend propose safe spaces for our local climbing gym. Me, male, half colombian asked "am i allowed?" *confused stare*
Me: genuinly confused and wanting to understand... "Is it safe space or another word for segregation?"
*angry face now*
That was the last of that friendship. Moral of story, remain centrist, dont be pulled too much to either side. They are all fucking nuts.
The other 2% is q-anon, right-wing terrorists, insurrectionists and supremacist organisations? Holy fuck, there's like billions of nutty lefties, why haven't anyone started harvesting them?
Its super racist and cultural imperialism at its finest. Telling an entire group they need to alter a language they have spoken for centuries as to not offend a miniscule number of people. Apparently these woke tards refuse to see it as similar to when native Americans were sent to English schools and banned from speaking their language.
Quick question since I'm not a native English speaker: isn't "them" plural? When you write that a professor uses latinx and then use the term "them" about the professor I get confused as hell and don't know if my English is just broken.
Different dialects have it allowable for single persons, others only allow it if the gender of the subject is unknown.
In this case, OP is limiting information and leaving the sex of the subject unknown.
They/them is the third person plural, but it can also be used as neutral third person singular.
If I were talking about what "one" is doing or what "a person" is doing, I can either use male he/him pronouns (previously the most common) or they/them pronouns (increasingly preferred for gender neutrality reasons). You'll also occasionally get somebody using female pronouns for an unspecified person, but it's stylistically jarring.
In the strictest technical sense, yes. Them/they is formally only used for plural third person. Rules relating to this strict use date back to the 1700s.
"Singular they" has been used at least back to the 1300s, and has fairly consistently been used to describe individuals or groups ever since.
My university uses the term "Latinx" on websites and posters when referring to Latinos. I have never seen my university use "Latino" before. I choose to ignore it even if I think the term is stupid. Other people's ignorance of other Languages shouldn't be my problem. Although I will be annoyed if someone actively tries to be the language police and try to make me use "Latinx" if I say "Latino."
Community schools are VERY underrated

Rahhh, Big money moves, ya seeme?
Goddamnit first WashU, where I went to undergrad, makes PCM and now Michigan, where I went to law school…
I loved Michigan though. It felt easy to steer clear of the stupid student activists as a law student.
EDIT: turns out it was Michigan’s Dearborn campus that did the cafe thing, not the main one in Ann Arbor (sort of a different school).
Oh please tell me more about the BASED black and Hispanic people that are totally going to vote right if only we pander and virtue signal to them a little more! 😫😫💦
It seems like Hispanics are at about the same rate as whites with blacks trailing only slightly behind. https://usafacts.org/visualizations/covid-vaccine-tracker-states/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=ND-COVID-Vaccine&gclid=Cj0KCQiAubmPBhCyARIsAJWNpiPM44_VaJFs2efBgIAL4EKp_hiFEhtPBqffJnVyLMx0Peb0JU9nKkMaApCsEALw_wcB
I thought I heard numbers specifically for NYC that were a large difference.
Then there was the veritas video of an FDA person suggesting blow darting black people with vaccines.
You have to be pretty racist to support a mandate that excludes a highly disproportional number of minorities from going to supermarkets, gyms, events, etc.
The highest vaccine-hesitant groups are Native Americans, Hispanic, and black people, about 20% higher than white people.
Vaccine mandates disproportionately prevent minorities from participating in society.
That doesn’t make the mandate racist (I still don’t like the mandate too much but that’s besides the point). I couldn’t care less if this group of people disliked the vaccines more than the other, that’s just a meaningless statistic.
It's not meaningless when you've been screaming and buck-buck-reeing for the past 60 years that anything that has even a tiny disproportionate racial disparity, even if not the result of coercion, is racist
and then you turn around and impose severe restrictions that you know will have huge racial disparities
So you are saying the distrust of the minority groups towards the government is not justified? Alone for the fact that they got treated bad so often and were the target of medical experimentation in the last century is enough to justifiy that distrust. Now if one is woke and believes in systemic racism then how is it not justified that minorities don't trust this very system?
You may want to review the [data](https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccination-demographics-trends). In 2021, Asians were the most vaccinated and Hispanics, whites, and blacks are were close just under 80% each.
Ok I’ll be honest with you, I am confused as fuck rn. You are literally saying vaccines are racist on this sub and getting upvotes, is there something I’m missing? Is this satire?
All I did was apply the definition of systemic racism to vaccine mandates.
Now a bunch of leftists want to try to claim that **that** systemic racism isn't really racism.
So usually, systemic racism is a point promoted by the social left(yeah ik what is socially left/right is kinda arbitrary) and that is what surprised us.
I'm saying that vaccine MANDATES are racist.
Any rule, law or system that disproportionately affects minorities negatively is inherently racist.
Or is systemic racism not a thing anymore?
I really want a list on all the ways people trying to be woke have just been racist
Like Latinx or people of color (just colored people reworded) or segregation
To me it's a proof of just how far university far-left has gone.
Normal human being when approached with idea of RACIAL F\*\*\*ING SEGREGATION would probably call police of the idiot.
Only american university far left could look at racial segregation and think it is a good idea.
I say it times and times again - there is a HUGE overlap between far-left and far-right. Both have racial segregation and racial discrimination back. But for different reasons.
so the woke crowd has deluded themselves into thinking that segregation is okay if they try to explain it as PoC ‘empowerment’? so like, they wouldn’t be okay with african americans being forced to sit in the back of the bus because they’re black, but they’d be okay if it was explained that it keeps them away from hateful whites and so they can have their own part of the bus or some shit? what the fuck
University of Michigan is a very ‘woke’ school. To the point where I refused to go there. (I’m sure it was thea win-win for me and the campus.)
Ehh, almost every university in the US is a woke cesspool. Go to the best one you can into, get a degree that’s actually marketable and ignore the feminist dance theory majors who will be working at Starbucks for the rest of their lives while drowning in student loan debt.

The empathetic left is bullshit
Those who constantly try to pass the left off as more empathetic are only "empathetic" when it suits them.
>When he stopped to take a breath they accused him of mocking george floyd I mean it's a well known fact that saint George invented heavy breathing and his iconic catchphrase "I can't breathe" so it's kinda the racist bigoted preacher's fault for being so insensitive 😏

Just getting back to their dem roots.
The people who wanted to divide by race in the past are the same ones that want to divide by race today. The people who valued life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness in the past are the same ones that value it today.
Why would you expect the same party that fought for it to not try and bring it back as soon as they figured out how? Seems on brand to me.
Fair enough.
Not American here but isn't that specifically not allowed by your constitution?
Yes but the courts have decided that racial discrimination with a progressive motivation is allowed.
It does seem like parody. They could’ve at least started with separate drinking fountains and escalated it from there
1. drinking fountains 2. doors 3. entire spaces Gota go through the correct process or it comes crashing down.

It's not meaningless when you've been screaming and buck-buck-reeing for the past 60 years that anything that has even a tiny disproportionate racial disparity, even if not the result of coercion, is racist and then you turn around and impose severe restrictions that you know will have huge racial disparities
I’m not THAT woke, why would they be distrustful of something for reasons of racism when it’s being used on people of every single race?
Sure buddy!
Wait I just realized, do you actually believe this stuff or are you joking? This is a super LeftCenter view…
So? What’s stopping them from getting a vaccine?
History.
You may want to review the [data](https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccination-demographics-trends). In 2021, Asians were the most vaccinated and Hispanics, whites, and blacks are were close just under 80% each.

Unbased and pineapple-on-pizza-wtf pilled
Ok I’ll be honest with you, I am confused as fuck rn. You are literally saying vaccines are racist on this sub and getting upvotes, is there something I’m missing? Is this satire?
The left guy and the right guy switched positions lmao. And I dont think it is ironical(intended i mean).
I know right???????????? This is mind boggling, a right center with an orange(ish) opinion
Full blown woke not orangish ngl
Yeah…..he’s also a Trump supporter so this is even weirder. It’s like an sjw being against the blm organization
Obligatory fuck TTUN
Based and We Don't Give a Damn for the Whole State of Michigan pilled
My people 🥲
Engineering school
does anyone know how you can highlight stuff in gimp like in this meme
Well the way i see it there is litterally no difference between having segregation and not having it
I really want a list on all the ways people trying to be woke have just been racist Like Latinx or people of color (just colored people reworded) or segregation
Double grill
so the woke crowd has deluded themselves into thinking that segregation is okay if they try to explain it as PoC ‘empowerment’? so like, they wouldn’t be okay with african americans being forced to sit in the back of the bus because they’re black, but they’d be okay if it was explained that it keeps them away from hateful whites and so they can have their own part of the bus or some shit? what the fuck
Asians aren’t allowed to have coffee in Ann Arbor
Imagine being so fucking retarded
I heavily considered UMich but it was expensive and too far north for me. Looks like I made the right choice.
You know libleft, I was wrong, I think you guys are alright...
I mean u got a point
I still don’t get why horseshoe is not that popular (Before anyone with a unspecific left flair is gonna say anything I want a actual good answer)
I'm a Michigan fan too :(
I'm totally fine with that
You’d think the University of Michigan would’ve been more opposed to Horseshoes than that
