I am also considering staying at alexandra works for my first year but also looking for other halls to stay at but most of them private as university accomodations are giving less for the same rent the only affordable is Robbins which i have heard that there are better out... whats your course by the way

floralsmyg

Yeah, the private accommodation I've found is far cheaper and just generally better than uni accomodation I'm doing dentistry wbu?

Delicious_Draft_2563

I checked other accomodations like cross house, centeral, frobisher, gull and all but alexandra seems to be the cheapest. I will be doing engineering this sep

I’m sat in Alexandra works right now so can give an honest review. If you don’t mind the shortish walk up the road towards uni and don’t want to be at the heart of first year madness but be able to dip in and out it’s a pretty excellent place to stay. Rooms are actually decent size with good storage space and I haven’t heard the fire alarm go off once in the night or at a time that hasn’t been a drill/test. I don’t have a shower head and the showers are pretty small but it’s all workable. Hot water has never gone on off me. Lift always works and the staff are responsive and helpful. Sometimes the kitchen fuse goes but it’s a minor inconvenience. The building manager, Galini, cares about the building and the students who stay here which is more than can be said for many places. It’s the best steal of all time in terms of price. I went to Leicester before and stayed in rooms that were £125 a week and they were half the size with way more madness. Overall I was very happy with my choice as someone who didn’t want to be kept up by people partying non stop. I am moving closer for next year but this was imo a perfect first year place.

Thank you! This was super helpful, I've already booked my room but it's always good to know I've made the right decision :)

Forward_Tour_590

Thanks I just booked a room with them earlier this month and I was stressing out because I saw so many bad reviews online.
