I'm loving the XP boosters. I'm glad they listened to us and added them
By - Various-Goose7101
It's been said many times but honestly I can't think of anything *scummier* then slowing down xp progression, essentially saying players can't handle fast progression, and *then* adding xp boosters.
Like I can't stress this enough, slowing down xp is one thing. Telling us it's because we got too many skill points to handle is another.
Surely adding an xp boosts defeats the purpose and intent of the first two things? Money I guess, but you'd have to have to be some fool to buy an Xp booster.
We really need to hold them to standard. Its absurd. I'm honestly insulted as a player who bought this incredibly disappointing game day one.
Fucking XP boosters, jesus.
Well the scummy part was the second stealth EXP nerf and the fact the EXP boosts just count down from when you use them instead of going off playtime
Well... 72 hours of XP boost might be a little excessive.
But the slowing down of XP gain in the first place was awful because the game’s combat only gets interesting when you’re at at least level 30 or so. Heck, I’d even say that Hulk is downright trash until you’ve got a ton of skills in him.
The first public EXP nerf wasn't even that bad, it was the stealth one with the champion system update and the decreased loot drops that was really scummy. With all the earnable cosmetics gone for the "cosmetic rework", the EXP nerfs, and all the loot nerfs I feel bad for anyone just starting the game
Yeah, i just slipped in under the wire for some of the drama. I started with the PS5 version.
I’ve been having a blast filling out my challenge cards and completing objectives here and there, thinking about which exotics artifacts I should give to the various heroes...
I really like the core brawler combat, but like the robots manufactured by AIM, this game has absolutely no soul.
I think a lot of the launch players have quit by now but with every update they have nerfed loot, exp, or difficulty. It's crazy how out of touch CD is
I have a feeling Gotham Knights has been taking notes all year.
They know what NOT to do.
CD should have known what not to do, I don't think anyone involved has any experience with looters or live service games, they somehow managed to get everything wrong
If only the whole game was as awesome as the final level of the single player campaign. Hopefully War For Wakanda will have some real meat on its bones... Otherwise, I don’t know if I’ll care enough to bring a brand new character from level 1 to level 50. And that goes double for Spider-Man, since I have a bad feeling he won’t even have new levels or a biome to call his own.
There's a ton of overlap between Anthem and Avengers. Do you think Avengers learned from Anthem? They somehow exacerbated all the worst mechanics of Anthem.
Trust me I did jus trying see what this showcase talkin bout next week
Personally I can’t stand trying to play hulk, which is why I left him at level 5. So you’re probably right. Also his mobility is atrocious.
He gets better when his Thunderclap (or whatever it’s called) creates a health cloud, but he just doesn’t have enough Willpower, IMO. I think he should also have more auto-armor on his moves, even if that might reduce the effectiveness of Rage in some situations.
Yeah, he should be practically unkillable, but he’s just squishy.
Yeah. They didn’t want to make him too OP, but they wound up doing the exact opposite. 🤷
He is by far the strongest character in the game, just has the highest learning curve and needs to be built right
My personal tier list, just on who I enjoy playing, as I must concede I’m not terribly interested in the nitty-gritty of endgame builds:
S tier: Captain America & Black Widow
A tier: Ms. Marvel, the Hawkeyes
B tier: Thor
C tier: Iron Man
F tier: Hulk
There is no wrong list if it's just personal preference, but if it's a Tier list for strength you are way off. Hulk and Thor are so far above everyone else.
Good to know. If they had just given him a real hulk jump he would be so much fun to play.
I wouldn't put it past them but it's insulting they thought we wouldn't notice
I wished megahive was co op. It is soooooo boring solo
I wish Crystal Dynamics was listening to you. Because I certainly agree that playing a 40+ floor laboratory close quarters fight by myself with a team of AI super heroes in a co-op hero brawler is not very fun, like you said, kind of boring. CD, can you hear us yet?
It feels like a chore, like something you need to do. Not something you do for fun. And what is the point of gaming if you are not having fun... No idea why they thought it would be cool to force player to play with some AI heroes instead of friends or random REAL people, and to be honest, the AI is horrible in this game, especially when it is capture, really annoying
> It feels like a chore, like something you need to do. Not something you do for fun. And what is the point of gaming if you are not having fun
The experience of getting to be one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes is reduced to a chore. I agree 1000%. Every time I have considered playing in the last few months, I come to the same conclusion...why would I play? Fun? The excitement of getting a cool piece of loot to improve my build to eventually take into a challenging piece of content to test my mettle? The loop just is not there. Couple that missing secret sauce with the bugs and the lack of content and feeling like a 'chore' as you put it...
You aren't the only one who feels that way. Millions of people bought this game. A very small fraction of those who purchased the game still play today.
I read statements like yours and think "wow, this is probably how everyone who plays the multiplayer feels in regards to Mega-Hives". Then reality (the cruel mistress she is) introduces me to people who will defend such a thing.
Even if they made it co-op, I don’t have much faith that I’d actually find people to play with on PC
never played megahive, but wtf 40 floors? that sounds like 2 hours of playing
For some reason, I thought that there **must** be something to them if people were still playing them but I'm 2/3 through my first complete megahive and feel like one of those naive/dumb kids Tom Sawyer tricked into painting a fence for him.
I wish megahive didn't exist.
It literally was made as content to keep players playing cause they had nothing else to offer. It's the most laziest content I've ever played in any "looter" game.
These devs sat in a room and said. "Hey, why don't we just copy/paste a hive mission but make more floors and people have to repeat it like a gauntlet"
there is no reason for solo content at endgame. you cant control your other 3 squad members.
It honestly doesn't matter if they make it co-op if you can't find anyone to play with.
I always find people in random missions.. I'm on ps5 though
well this is something they are working on, just no word on when it'll be updated for multiplayer.
It should have never even dropped. Bro who tf wants to play 45 levels of the same 4 map rotation doing the same shit
The co-head of the studio at Crystal Dynamics provided the following statement to Kotaku.com on **October 8th, 2020** which is **242 days ago**:
> As such, we have a number of **new content pieces coming in the weeks ahead including:... AIM’s Cloning Lab**, which requires a coordinated high-level group of four players to beat with new top-end loot rewards for finishing
> Lastly, we will continue to add new content to the game in the coming months as **we address issues** and overall game balance, **including** loot distribution and **quality of life features everyone is clamoring for to improve our day-to-day experience from accessibility to co-op communication tools** to balancing the economy!
Mods, maybe we can reach out to the Crystal Dynamics community manager and see if we can schedule another Q & A with Scot Amos like they did here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMS68raPu40) on **October 23, 2020** which was **228 days ago**. I think it would be a wonderful opportunity for the community to ask for some updates on some the great features Scot said would be coming out in weeks ahead **242 days ago**.
If he did another Q&A at least he would give us more memorable quotes to make fun of after a few months
Make fun? Not at all. I'm just a proud Marvel's Avengers gamer and fan and looking to the co-head of the studio that produces and develops the game for insight based off past statements he made. I don't think that counts as making fun. Tomorrow will be **243 days** since he said AIM's Cloning Labs would be coming out in the weeks ahead. I figured that meant like 3-4, maybe 6-8 at most. Not 34 weeks though. That seems like it stretches the definition of weeks but that is just my interpretation. Which is why I asked the mod team to reach out for another Q & A so we could ask Scot to clarify if he meant 34 weeks. 🙏🤷♂️
Aren't you looking forward to the Cosmic Cube villain sector? This is what he said when asked about it:
> "This is the thing that can change the reality of the world ... of the universe, for that matter," he says. "All of [the story events to this point] lead up to this moment with the Cosmic Cube that gives the opportunity for really expanding our universe and what is possible. All of that is meant to be linked together. "
Hopefully it's not a 10 minutes villain sector with no cinematics and a few voice lines
242 days ago lol. Insane. Like, what are they even doing to it?
My personal opinion is there are about 15-20 people working on Avengers and the rest of the studio (250+) is working on Tomb Raider 4. Because like you said, "what are they even doing?" 🤷♂️ Every dev stream is 'tuning bosses', 'fixing some bugs', 'testing this week'. Just tease after tease of it almost being done. It's why I post so many quotes because when you step back and look at the entire picture, it's fucking comical and sad. **242 days**...unreal.
Don't forget Eidos had 50+ working on Avenger's who went back probably to work on the GotG game
It’s more than just opinion. It’s patently obvious this is the case.
Honestly, for the best they focus on Tomb Raider, Avengers is a lost cause, a game that lacks a focused direction and built on an engine that is literally incapable of letting us have a full Avengers team, the base game's final team is six Avengers but the engine won't let us use more than four at a time, it's honestly embarrassing. CD was out of their comfort zone and depth with a multiplayer Avengers game like this, and it's obvious the game's direction changed drastically at some point, The story content being so much more developed than everything else and CD being chosen in the first place makes it obvious this was initially planned as a primarily singleplayer game and at some point either CD, SE, or Marvel decided otherwise. The post launch content makes it all the more clear that CD's heart just isn't in this project.
Technically, this is still "the weeks ahead", and so is 2025.
Until humanity stops using "weeks" as a measurement of time, CD have not lied. /s
>coming out in weeks ahead
Technically that was an open ended statement so it can still be coming in the weeks ahead.
Wait? So you don't like strictly singleplayer content in your Multiplayer mode? This is a new concept to me. I'm sure Scott or someone at CD can explain. /s
We might be too stupid to get it. Therefore, they have now slowed down the rate at which they deliver endgame content.
To ensure we have time to get comfortable with the single player red room. Lol!
remember when they slowed down progression because having too many skill points was "confusing and overwhelming". its ok! because now you can buy consumables to boost your confusion!
can we start calling them confusion boosters?
We have accessibility, haven't you seen the tap rather than mash button option? What do you want? The ability for colourblind people etc to play? Other things are more important. Also we have Cerise, they wheeled her into a dark corner after putting her in the game for no reason but definitely speaks to inclusivity! /S
I didn't see it. I was so overwhelmed when I clicked that tab that I had to close the game
Those Blue Holo suits aren't easy to handle
The worst things about XP boosters is that they legit became the go to item for one of the only cool things that they were doing and that was the free item after every reset. Now all they give us instead of a costume or a nameplate is a fucking useless boost lol.
Whats your problem!
They nerfed XP because you was getting confused by what to spend all those skill points on... now you have had time to understand you get enough skill points to unlock everything so there is nothing to be confused about they have gone out of their way to make an XP booster for you to make leveling a more enjoyable experience and less grindy all you do is complain... /s
This is next level stupid. They slowed down XP gain, said it was because we can't handle it.... But now apparently we can if we pay for XP boosts. What is this I don't even
I didn’t even use the XP boost from the red room event and it disappeared when I downloaded the second one 🤷🏼♂️
That’s hilarious considering there is 6 slots for “owned” consumables. I guess we should have expected that would be broken to.
Looking forward to E3. Hopefully this rumored Xcom Marvel game has competent people behind it and no oversight/red tape from Marvel/Disney HQ.
I thought title was serious at first lol
I assume they sell the boosters?
Not yet. But they are showing up in the 'marketplace'. I assume they'll add a price tag once War for Wakanda drops to encourage people who want to level up Black Panther/Spider-Man faster the option to do that.
> I thought title was serious at first lol
I don't blame you, the other day I saw a user here saying the game was bugfree on their PS5 and maybe the person they were replying to's PS5 was broken. They weren't joking
They were clearly trolling in that thread. You just ate the onion.
You sure? I'll let you judge. Watch the user history
This is just a example, here you have people saying the game has trillions of players on PlayStation, the marketplace prices are fair, the game is not buggy and some skins are not asset flips or recolors when they are like Stark Tech and Bleeding Edge
I feel like I should call my bank and say that this game was fraudulently advertised
Wait xp boosters a thing now?
Yes my fellow redittor, they slowed down XP progression because players where feeling "overwhelmed" because they leveled up too fast and added XP boosters.
No way. Hahahaha. That’s so hilariously bad. No one felt the zip changes were necessary and now it’s apparent that the change was made to further extract cash from players. Well thankfully there isn’t really any substantial content at this point to play.
Well took a peak thru the Avengers door and I guess I'll just shut it again. But for real that's crazy, I'm assuming it paid xp boosters?
As of right now they’ve always been in the market for free, but the way it’s worded, That’s likely to change
Always starts with just a taste lol
Not yet, one free one per week. But they also refuse to give us a straight answer in if they will be paid in the future. I.E. it’s coming like a freight train
They aren't paid (yet). They appear from time to time in the marketplace and can be claimed for free.
Would you put a item in the marketplace and not as a reward completion of one of your missions if it was always supposed to be free though? Only CD can answer.
It doesn't end there though, people who got a survey for this game a couple of weeks ago claim the survey had plenty of questions about paying for gear, xp progression and pay to win mechanics.
My post is to mock the decision of working on XP boosters while their game is buggy, lacks content and accessibility features
I'm sure it's different teams but yea I get it thats really stupid. My guess is that they probably are not making as much as they would like with the skins
The thing is that the team that worked on the XP thing could have worked on making something useful or something that people wanted but someone decided it was better to implement this crap
Corporate greed I'm sure
I almost lost hope in doing mega hives anymore. 40+ levels for two exotics that are usually crap compared to what I’ve already got doesn’t really feel worth it anymore. Now if they had more events like the Red Room, that would be cool. The fact after beating the Red Room gave you exotics for all of your characters was a good feeling....although I totally didn’t know that was gonna happen and 4 of my hero’s weren’t leveled up to 130 and got shit for them. But yeah. Lol.
The game has so many core issues that cannot be fixed. Every hero is supposed to be a unique one that offers something special to the team. But is it this way. No. Most of the abilities are literally JUST "dealing" damage.
The only hero that kinda has a mechanic that does more than that is Thor. And it's because his hammer throws are too OP compared to other attacks of other heroes.
Like, Hulk can pick up enemies but, he can't do it if they have armor. So it wouldn't work on 80 percent if the important enemies in higher challenge levels.
The boss fights have zero mechanics to have fun with. It would be right to make each boss more vulnerable to a specific hero's abilities. But the bosses are nothing but big bullet sponges.
So, I'm mad that the multiplayer is almost non-existent but, what would it add to the game. What would I say to my team mates on voice chat? What kind of strategy do we need other than just punch the boss until it eventually dies?
You can’t forget recolors after recolors after recolors after recolors after recolors and then more recolors
The moment they said they were slowing the pacing of gaining xp I knew something was up. It just solidifies it when they add xp boosters right after.. they literally broke xp just to add something extra.. it's like watching a scam being birthed
Single player content >>>>>>>>>>>> multiplayer content
This game was sold as a multiplayer game.
> "99% of the stuff we are adding is playable single-player, but it's also co-op enabled" -Scott Amos
I'm not saying that it wasn't ? it's just my opinion of the game. I'm very excited to see it they'll finally add the option to change how many companions you could bring. Since it would increase the difficulty
Much like Anthem and Cyberpunk, I do hope Avengers is eventually held up as a prime example of what not to do when making a game. That's assuming Wakanda Exp doesn't revolutionize the game, which I'm sad to say I'm doubtful it will.
if it makes you feel better they are making more recolored skins for sale for the atm they call a store
I don't think anyone hates this game more than the people on this Subreddit
Hate is the uglier side of love. We're on a subreddit dedicated to a video game because we liked the beta and thought it had potential; unfortunately this game is not living up to that potential. It would be like watching Einstein huff paint thinner; a crying shame!
If people have been on here complaining since the beta then I'd say that's not really healthy. Just go play another game, there's so many nowadays.
I think you're missing the point. People are playing other games but every update they come to see if this game they enjoyed since beta has improved and surprisingly its been the same since beta release.
This guy gets it ☝🏾
I don’t think anyone knows or cares about this game other than the people on this subreddit. They not exactly doing football numbers here…this game is a ruined wet dream given physical form lol
Yeah I’m not surprised the devs don’t interact with us much here. Reading the complaints on this sub is probably terrible for their mental health.
Edit: wanted to add a note. I think the complaints are valid. Not defending the devs design choices or anything.
If I was a dev at CD I'd rather eat rusty nails then interact with this community tbh.
"Multiplayer content" nice and vaaaague.
Don't worry *I'll look into it* to be more specific
Has anyone else had all their xp boosters just completely disappear? That was honestly the biggest thing motivating me to play and now all 3 of the 3 day boosters I had are gone......
Ya vanished from inventory I think it is bugged an counts down time from the moment you claim it disappeared Sunday for me.
Yeah that sucks. Honestly i probably won't even play till they release more.
Making people pay for xp they used to have
I actually wish we could buy them as absurd as that sounds - now that they slowed down XP and I am trying to level on two platforms the boost is very helpful.
