Vaccine Incentives, We Don’t Need Vaccine Incentives
By - WJLindley
You got a sticker? :(
I got a band-aid.
I got a rock
Best reply!!! 😃👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you :)
I have a belly button.
You got a band-aid? :(
For real lol I got a cotton ball and a piece of tape
You got a cotton ball and a piece of tape? :(
I got this weird band-aid.
Yep, that's mighty weird.
I got a Wrist - Band :)
i got a cool new age bandaid that they gave the shot through.
I got a lolipop 😎
I got a pin/button! Added that to my collection of awesome pins and buttons. MCCC is the shit!
I got 2 stickers…
All I got was this damn key stuck to my forehead.
I also have improved 5G speeds. Sometimes it's almost 6G and my phone is downloading 8k hd videos minutes before I even know I want to watch them.
To be fair you also got the peace of mind knowing that no matter what you do or what kind of trouble you find yourself in, our intelligence agencies know where you are and how to extract you.
Just in case anyone is wondering, I am kidding.
Ngl, you had me in the first half.
I got a $5 coupon for groceries at acme, twice.
You got immunity?
Aren't they all behind PA in vax rates?
That explains the lotteries lmao
yeah, but they lead in chromosomes!
I thought the vaccine was the prize? Did I do this wrong?
I got told “Thank you”
No, you didn't. There are just those that need little baby prizes to do the right thing, while the adults among us do the right thing without that. Probably the same people that call other people snowflakes. I'll still take money tho, even though I already got the job done like a boss!
>little baby prizes
Like... Participation trophies?
Do participation trophies ever involve cash? If so, sign me up.
Well yeah, I wish I could win some cash for getting a shot, but I did it without an incentive other than "this is what it will take to get back to normal"
I just find it hilarious that the people who typically criticize participation trophies are the ones that these incentives are designed to attract.
You have no idea how wrong your are. The truth is super-uncomfortable.
What "truth" are you blathering on about?
The least they could do is shove Gus out there and give out some scratch offs.
Keep on vaxxin!
**Benefits older Pennsylvanians
If PA did give incentives, what would it be? Terrible towels? Vouchers for a cheesesteak from Pat’s? Free hunting/fishing license for the year?
A six pack of Yuengling, a pack of scrapple, and a $25 ticket booklet for Knoebels.
Hahaha! Very southeastern PA of you. I like it.
Not so much the Knoebels part.
Unless you are from NWPA in which case, sure that's kinda sorta southeastern PA ...
Yout got me at the Knoebel's part lmao. PA absolutely would do something like that and Knoebels gives those tickets out like candy half the time anyway. Hell, I work two jobs both of which are 2 hours away from Knoebels and yet both decided that their annual company events would be at Knoebels and each comes with a complimentary ticket booklet. That place is basically a PA staple at this point no matter where in the state you live.
There's no such thing as a problem that can't be solved by a trip to Knoebels.
Except maybe Sheetz vs WaWa.
You answer that by saying food court at Knoebels and everyone will go "yea that is better than either" and Knoebels still comes out on top.
Those Knoebels tickets though…they never expire.
Free hunting and fishing license? Don't mind if I do!
Automatic elk tag lottery
Pat's (and Gino's) is terrible, so maybe don't give out that as a prize.
I had both, but actually only once. As a PA native, I thought they were very average. Like good, but nothing to write home about. Fat Monn’s Grub in Corry, PA is better than both.
Maybe I am biased, but I can think of a dozen places in Lancaster and surrounding counties that are better.
there are a dozen places in every county in SE PA that are better. shit, my berks co hometown of 1500 has 2.
pat's and genos just have the loooong rivalry that made their names. they are for tourists. im yet to meet a SE pa resident worth talking to that wouldnt rather go to pretty much anywhere else. that said, they always have a favorite between the 2.
Arkansas gave vouchers for fishing licenses
First in line at PennDot on their busiest day
Hahahaha! That’s a good one. My cousin is a pole climber for Penndot.
My sister is a pole climber but not at Penndot.
Free lap dance with vax shot.
You might be on to something. Free hunting or fishing license might have some pull.
I think there’s going to be overlap in the pro-Trump, pro-hunting crowd that would also be anti-vax. Offering elk tags to get the rednecks to get vaccinated might actually work.
The elk tag suggestion might be the best suggestion I've seen yet to get the anti-vax rednecks on board.
I recommended a week jump start on deer season and a box of ammo.
If that doesn't work in Franklin county nothing will.
Honestly rednecks really aren’t the elk hunting type.
They’re more the crossbow out the truck window with a spotlight in the middle of august type.
I'll just take money
Alright, alright, soft or hard? From the Amish country?
Free Farm Show parking and milkshakes for life. Kielbasa and Pierogi dinners on command. Free Lionshead for life. Free gas at Sheetz AND Wawa for a year.
I like it!!!!!! That’s the best! I spent a lot of time in the farm show because I worked for NRA part time as an instructor.
Kielbasa and Pierogis are the best thing in the world.
Sounds like paradise in the Skook.
I didn't know any of those words until you got to Wawa.
I think that Sheetz and Wawa devide us. Western PA is Sheetz. Eastern Pa is WawA.
Central PA also has Sheetz!
Entry into a gun raffle
Bingo!!! That’s a good one.
Pothole repair voucher
That’s great! I’ve lived all up and down the east coast and PA has got to have the worst potholes of any state.
I love the way that nearly anywhere you go people say that roads/potholes where they are are worse than anywhere else. I fully admit that there are some bad areas in PA when it comes to roads. But I can say definitively that I've been in several places outside of PA where the roads are consistently far worse than anything I've ever seen in my travels around PA. Just no contest.
Maryland is pretty bad too. I’ll give you that.
> Free hunting/fishing license for the year?
put this person in charge of the vax program!
Terrible Towels? Gfto here with that weak west-side shit. Birds all the way.
Parts of PA exist outside The Burgh and Philly, ya know.
>Free hunting/fishing license for the year?
I believe that covers the rest of the state.
As someone who lives in the "rest of the state" it sure as hell covers it well.
I've got tons of uncles, aunts, and cousins who are holding out on the vaccine. Give them a free bonus tag with each jab and PA will climb above 70% vaccinated in NO time.
First day of hunting season means an empty workplace for me. I work near Harrisburg with a bunch of paper pushers and they’re allllll gone on that day, I’ve never seen anything like it.
I have no doubt that would work.
I went to college near Harrisburg and when my Greek professor (rest in peace, Dr Long) said we wouldn't have class on the first day of deer season I was like, what weirdness is this? I grew up in Jersey. We didn't get a day off when the fruit stands opened up or whatever.
I grew up (and still live) outside of Harrisburg and we always got the first day of deer off of school!
I just never heard of this before college. Of course, now I'm up in Tioga where it is absolutely a thing. As is a hunter's food pantry where people can donate extra game to neighbors in need, which is pretty cool.
Wow that is really cool! I live in the burbs but the local State Game lands are within a 15 minute drive. Great trails for running!
Yep. And all the schools in the Harrisburg area (and I'm sure most other areas in Pa) would give us the Monday following Thanksgiving off because so many kids would be absent. South Central Pa is a strange place.
Northcentral PA here. We always got the first day of Buck AND the first day of doe. Now that it's all one season, our schools get the first 2 days of of "huntin" season off.
It sure is I went to school at Ship and then stated few years after in Chambersburg and Walnut Bottom before coming back home to Philly. Boy do I miss the farm views and affordable housing.
It definitely does except in parts of the Poconos with transplanted Giants fans, lol.
It's almost as if those are the most populated areas of the state though.
And I'm someone from the WB/Scranton area.
Yea Pennsyltucky. We tend to try and ignore that place though.
Hunting/Fishing license and truck nuts.
Haha, hunting and fishing license sounds like a legit thing that people would want.
Truck nuts is too Georgia for us…have some respect.
There is a state that was giving free fishing licenses.
Free 16oz coffee from wawa, sheetz or turkeyhill.
Scratch offs, pack of Newports, and an Arctic splash
Listen, I agree that the idea of having "lotteries/prizes" for getting vaccinated is dumb because you should just do it because it's the right thing to do to protect yourself and those around you.
But if other states are doing it it pisses me off that of course PA isn't, like I got the vaccine as soon as I could but I got bills to pay and having another chance for me to get money would be nice.
Hell I would take the free weed like Washington
pretty sure the free weed thing was a joke, tho
Ah but you see good sir, it doesn't have to be a joke. It could be a reality and wouldn't it be nice?
It would be nice.
well, i'll be...
And it is morons like this is why a job that pays $15 an hour are not worth what $5 an hour was a few decades ago.
Actually that's the fault of inflation and wages not rising, no idea why you're blaming people.
People clamoring and voting for people who bribe them with printing more money cause said inflation. Wages have been rising constantly which feeds into the inflation as well.
So yes, these people are to blame as well as the feds.
Unincentivized PA citizens: "I wanna million dollar lottery ticket, I wanna free legalized pot, I wanna lifted truck, I wanna Penn State scholarship, I wanna . . . .
PA: "You'll get nothing and like it!"
True PA Dutch attitude
I was happy with just the vaccination. Shouldn't need an incentive to get it, honestly. It's pretty straight-forward, but somehow, we need to beg people to get it.
Not sure which is worse; that we HAVE to do this or that we CAN'T do this:-/
Given that PA has decent vaccination rates by population, makes me kinda hopeful that we didn’t have to do any of it.
C'mon, put Gus to work! Ohio's doing it!
Fuck that. That rodent is on tv enough as it is.
I was hoping covid would kill that animatronic rat!
He should be in jail
I for one amsuper happy about my new magneto powers
This was a joke guys im fully vaxxed
Stay away from my VHS collection, mr magneto man.
I'd like to watch the "[sweded](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Be_Kind_Rewind)" version of Avengers: Endgame, please.
I got the vaccine so that myself and my loved ones will not die from covid fuck me right?? Should have waited for the cash and prizes!
You mean we only get a little immunity and the peace of mind we won’t hurt those around us?
*fuck us right?!*
Why not wait for the prizes if youve had it recently?
I got my first Jab back at the end of Jan. I was so excited to get it.
You asked why I didn't wait if I got it recently. I was saying I didn't get it recently.
No I was saying I understand why ppl w natural immunity wouldn’t jump on it
There's no such thing as natural immunity for covid. You can't *not* get it regularly.
Yepp, I got my vaccine the all natural way in January
Same. But I got offered a paid trip to Philly to get a vaccine and be part of a study and then you’d get paid for each trip down there. Turned it down because it was super early in the process. But then almost all my co workers got covid and I luckily got it in January (no paid trips). I got a band aid lol. I didn’t even get a sore arm, or any sick feelings after.
I got mine in Jan and Feb due to the work I do. I also didn't have side effects besides the sore arm. My wife was sick as a dog. I was kind of worried I got a dud lol.
I got the vax so no one in my house dies after 40 days in the hospital (with a $200,000+ fffkin' medical bill.)
This is the dumbest country on the planet.
>This is the dumbest country on the planet.
The British voted **FOR** Brexit.
To be fair we did it first in 1776.
I think it worked out a bit better for us.
It worked out a bit better for us *so far.*
Well...unfortunately there's that too!
Philly has a lotto
I bet you a ward leader or a block captain magically wins the vaccine lottery.
True. "We're going to give somebody a substantial amount of money at random" screams corruption IMO.
This is pathetic that you have to bribe people to do the smart/reasonable decision.
Congratulations. You’ve now described 75% of the US tax code.
How so? I don't follow.
There are tax incentives for:
-adding solar panels
-purchasing updated appliances
-contributing to a retirement account
-mortgage deductions for home ownership
-deductions for charitable donations
-deductions for school loan interest
-deductions for raising children
Most of these are things that morally sound people would do automatically, adding them to the tax code promotes individuals to contribute to society in ways they may otherwise not do freely.
Dude. I'd love solar panels, you know how expensive shit like that is without incentives?
There's a tax incentive for buying new appliances?
Yeah. You can get them for replacing old appliances (furnaces, HVAC,etc) with more energy efficient appliances.
PSU giving out vaccine incentives every week. Ya heard?
People think about this if they’re giving you something to get a shot what the Hells wrong with that shot
>People think about this if they’re giving you something to get a shot what the Hells wrong with that shot
Many people aren't getting the vaccine purely based off of political disinformation. Rewards help entice greedy unprincipled people to get the vaccine.
On the plus side at least the states’ vaccination rate is pretty good. We just crossed 60% of the whole population of PA getting at least one dose.
Terry Crews is President of America.
Damn, all I got was my car lights broken while I was getting vaccinated. Talk about incentives.
Do they at least give you a pat on the head and say good boy or girl when they give out the shots?
They should give out optional Trump yard signs in exchange for getting vaccinated.
People’s heads would explode.
The Republican-controlled legislature would never do something like that.
Staying alive is all the incentive I need.
Wife, 5 month old, and I all had it in February. I was down for a week with fever, chills, and fatigue. It was definitely not a fun time.
Work pays me to get it and supplies the vaccine, regardless I would’ve got it.
damn, i could use a jacked up truck
I'm a lifeguard. It's almost funny how the vocally anti-vax patrons are the ones we have to yell at for diving into the shallow end of the pool.
If you fuckers don't want to catch my shedded spike proteins, you better not make me come and drag your injured asses out of the water.
Mouse traps haves give away free cheese
I think PA has been done from the beginning of the virus so we happy to be safe and normal again
Wrong! You can get free lamination of your vax card from Staples.
I think there are some other businesses doing similar things but that's all I remember.
Laminate a copy in case you need to add a booster to the original next year or something.
Too late. I'm already laminated.
Here's hoping Staples offers free unlamination when the boosters come out.
Those are individual businesses giving out items as a promotion. Not state give-a-ways.
All it says is vaccine incentives. Don't act like ya get nothin. But I see where you're coming from.
It's a good day to be a Pennsylvanian!
I mean, we should have them. Statewide rates are good, but that's skewed by the big population centers. Lebanon county's something like 30%.
I didnt get it and wont! Yay for me
When did reddit become so liberal?!?
