I think it's just the lighting. I have many lipsticks that look great in normal lighting and then same lipsticks look totally different in unnatural lightning. One lipstick that looks great on me all the time is Clinique Black Honey
I tried black honey forever ago and can’t remember why I didn’t get it again. Maybe it’s time to give it a go.
Such a bummer this one changed so much because I just loved how it looked.
I would try Mac Mehr, it’s my fav lipstick shade. It looks similar to the first pic.
Mehr is one of my favorites as well. It used to be really popular so I’m surprised more people don’t use it.
I agree with other that it's probably the lighting change in the photos that make it look like a different color, although it doesn't look too different.
As for suggestions, I also recommend Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, it's one of the very few lip colors that seems to look good on pretty much everyone that's tried it. I'm very fair with a strong-ish cool undertone and it's been my holy grail for 20+ years, when I discovered it in high school. If you're looking for something similar to the first photo, a neutral rosy mauve, you may like Charlotte Tilbury M.I Kiss (formerly Bond Girl) or if you want the same color in a gloss, Lisa Eldridge's Gloss Embrace in Blush is fantastic. Her matching lipstick in Velvet Blush is also great but CT M.I Kiss is a spot on dupe and easier to get a hold of for most people.
Thanks for the recommendations! I’ve been hearing so many good things about Charlotte Tilbury’s lipsticks lately I may have to finally try one.
You're welcome! M.I Kiss is only available in her matte formula but it's actually one of the most comfortable matte lipsticks I own, and I almost exclusively wear hydrating formulas or tinted balms.
I maybe didn’t explain it very well. Those pics are from the same tube just like 2 days apart. Weird right?
I went to purchase mehr tonight and was talked into syrup. Thinking I should have just stuck with mehr. Really wanting to find a nice every day work shade!

Hello! I’m looking for some help finding an every day lip color I can wear for work.
The shade in both pics is Mac Please Me.
The pic with sunglasses is how it looked immediately after I bought it and applied. I love it!
However, now that I’m home and have put it on several more times and in differing lights it just looks…warm/orangey. I don’t think it’s flattering.
I’m not sure why it looks so different. Does anyone have any suggestions why this happened and any recommendations of shades that might be flattering on me whether they’re similar to the first pic or not?
I took this pic for reference for someone recently, this is how Please Me looks on me. It is a warmer bright pink. It is NOT a natural look on me lol.
(It’s Velvet Teddy in the pic next to it)
Mehr looks more like your first picture. Or Brave, which is a bit lighter than Mehr and my favourite formula.
This is an old photo with Brave and then a random swatch photo I made ages ago
Wow, thank you! This is really helpful; looks like Please Me really is quite warm.
Brave is so pretty! Adding that to the list with Mehr.
Max factor rosewood is similar to your first picture, but a little bit more in your face fuchsia.
