These environments are fucking gorgeous, Horizon’s art style is just beautiful
Yeah, the Forbidden West world seems great!
A open world game with biomes. We seem to lack that as of late. Can't fucking wait
My god. The graphics.
I just got a PS5 yesterday for this game.
Crafty Sony put Zero Dawn on PC and got me hooked. Really excited for this.
Also planning on playing the other PS exclusives
Just from the free games offered on the PSPlus Collection, definitely check out Bloodborne (unfortunately no PS5 update so the framerate sucks), God of War, The Last of Us, and Uncharted! Ghost of Tsushima is also amazing, though it's not free
Yes! Very excited to try the last of us as well.
Also want to try both of the Spider-Man games too!
> Very excited to try the last of us
Heads up, they are making a full remake of the first game (presumably with the graphics and mechanics of TLoU2) which is possibly releasing at the end of this year, in case you want to wait! The first game has my favorite story in a video game. The presentation and acting is top notch.
Shit! I just snagged the PS4 copy for 10 bucks yesterday because I saw that was on sale (along with GOT).
Oh well, if I love it i'll gladly play a remaster later too.
TLOU2 is really good as well. And Persona 5 Royal, even though I'm not someone who's particularly into JRPGs, was one of the best games I've ever played. Highly highly recommend both of those.
I'm not huge into JRPG's but I'm 100% going to go through both last of us games!
Persona 5 is free on the PS Plus collection. Try it for a few hours and see how you like it (this is what I did too, since I wasn't sure if I'd like it at first). Then, if you enjoy it, buy Royal on sale (goes as low as $20). Royal is the expanded and improved version of P5 with more content, so definitely play that instead of P5 if you choose to.
The Last of Us comes free with the PS5 + PS Plus
Best game I played in a while! Replayed it twice
I hate the plot for the 2nd. One of the worst
The frame rate sucks AND it's got terrible frame pacing so it feels *even* worse than other 30 fps games.
Very true, but it's still one of my favorite games last gen. Here's to hoping the reason they haven't updated it is because a remaster / remake is in the works! Not likely but that'd make me so happy
Nice! Welcome aboard. Can't recommend The Last of Us parts I & II, Spiderman and God of War enough. Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy release in a bundle at the end of this month remastered for PS5. You could play the Nathan Drake collection (1-3) before those.
Really excited for HFW as well.
Planning on getting all of those!
As much as I love Xbox, PS really has some great singleplayer exclusives. That was the driving force for me adding the PS5 to my series x.
This is exactly why Sony are porting games like Horizon and GoW to PC, its to get people into the series and then wanting to play the sequels. I suspect the reason Spider-Man isn't on PC yet is because Sony are planning on porting it near SM2 release on PS5.
Some advice get Returnal its brilliant and if you can is suggest you get the Pulse 3D headset as its some of the most immersive gaming you will get.
absolutely. Give the PC crew a taste, and get as many of them to buy a PS as possible so they dont miss out on the sequel at launch
Understood I'll keep an eye out for it!
Planning on using my A10's I currently use for my xbox.
Exact same situation as me. Just finished replaying the first game today.
Oh wow! So technically the strategy to put HZD on PC worked. Anyways welcome to the PS family where Emotions powered by technical marvel is the beating heart.
It 100% worked for me. I was blown away by how good the story, graphics, and gameplay of HZD was. I really enjoyed that game and fell in love with it. It got me through 2020 and Aloy's journey was a great story. I am very excited to see what happens to her in the forbidden west.
The environmental detail is phenomenal. And I have no idea what lighting method they are using but it is spectacular.
It was great even in the first one and now it's damn!!!
Decima Gleam Light. Part of that I made up lol.
If these graphics are with the PS4 still in mind, I can't imagine what they can do with a PS5 exclusive.
They were too crisp. Definitely ps5 footage.
Well yeah, it says so in the beginning.
Lol. Didnt mean to regurgitate.
It's a shame we won't know for at least 2 more years
Can’t wait to play this on the my OG ps4 :D
Wow! Congratulations on purchasing a ticket on Sony airlines.
LOL it's a PS4 game
All the clipping at 0:30 tho.. :(
God, I'm so ready for this game to come out. Next month just can't come soon enough.
The visuals look gorgeous, but it's the continuation of the plot that I'm looking forward to most.
As someone unfamiliar with the first one, is there anything I should know before starting this one?
I recommend playing it. I didn't expect it to get its hooks in me, but the story and worldbuilding really are as good as it gets in a AAA title.
I bought the first game on steam as I had heard it's a good game and I didn't have ps4. It made me want to buy ps5 faster than I had planned to play forbidden west on release (and of course other ps exclusives). Luckily got one in december
Yeah you really should play or watch a play through of the first one
I played thru on ps4 couple years back, never did the dlc- gonna have to finish that up. Never found the shield weaver armor either, I got loose ends, man!
You should play the first one, the story is gonna be essential for playing this game imo
Legitimately the most interesting and thought provoking plot from a video game ever imo
I mean ever ever, I don't think so? Of course it's opinion-based but there's many stories out there that tackle more plausible and relevant ethical scenarios to our world.
That's a stretch LOL. It was good, and the lore was pretty fantastic, but the plot itself was solid, nothing more.
Like the others said, you need to play the first one. The story is absolutely amazing. I'd guess it would take 30ish hours to play through just the main story and the frozen wilds DLC. If you have a ps5, you can play at 60 fps and the game looks amazing.
One thing to note, the story is a bit slow to start, but then it gets so good, you can't stop playing.. The writers did an amazing job with the world building and explain why super advanced robots are chilling with tribal humans.
My god the game is SO MUCH BETTER at 60FPS. I don't even care we don't have all the PC bells and whistles, even though I have a PC no way was I starting over, and I waited a long time to finish my game. 60FPS is a requirement for me, unless 30FPS is literally going to blow my mind with graphics.
30 fps is rough now. My old panasonic plasma handled 30 fps content and it wasn't juttery at all. I could play 30 fps games all day long and not care. I got an oled with my Biden bucks last year and 30 fps games are choppy as hell unless i turn on motion smoothing, which has it's own issues.
IDK 30 FPS is dog to me on any TV no matter what. Some TVs are better, but it's immediately noticeable. I've played on every kind of TV. I can no longer stomach 30 unless the game is like The Order or something very cinematic and not too much camera movement. In effect, no open worlds at 30FPS for me.
I'm not picky about 30 or 60 fps usually honestly. However in some games it makes a big difference. When I tried horizon again at 60 fps it felt like a completely different beast. It was immediately noticeable which makes me even more hyped for Forbidden West.
The current story is a little rough until you meet a certain character. The backstory on the other hand is one of the best sci-fi concepts/lore ever created.
Excellent way to put it and I agree 100%.
frozen wilds needed going into sequel ya think?
I don't know. I think Cyan is pretty important and the end of the dlc does help build the foundation of a sequel.
Like others have said, play the first game. It's cheap now and even part of PSNow if you can get a trial or subscribe for a month. Theres honestly too much to tell you and is definitely better to experience it for yourself.
If you're very into reading stories, lore, and world building, there is so much in-game content to read and listen to that expands everything.
Play the first one. You have time to finish it + DLC. Will help with lore and combat.
Why not just play the first one?
I don't get people who only play brand new games
For me, it mainly that I only have time to play one or two hours per week. However, based on what everyone here is saying, I’ll play the first.
The game can be beaten in a fairly short amount of time if you mainline the main quests and just do a sidequests here or there that interests you. Its designed very similar to ghost of Tsushima where depending on how kant side bursts and how much you roam around the world fighting it can be a 20 hour game or a far longer game.
Please note the game starts out a bit slow, and the actual main story isn't revealed until later in, and its really good. The first big region you are in is basically a beginner zone and the game truly starts opening up when you get to the desert area. I say this because I've had a lot of friends drop off in the early part of the game and think they don't like it, and then went back later to push further and it became one of their favorite games.
I'm so upset that the release window is so close to Elden Ring.
I'll probably play ER first, as the social aspects of FromSoft games is best near launch.
And because I know if I play Horizon first I'm going to be spoiled with how amazing it looks.
But it's going to be HARD not jumping into HFW for the week between the two and the time it takes to pay through ER.
2022 is shaping up to be a very good year for gaming.
I hope Alcatraz will appear in the game.
This game is really shaping up to be a major evolution of the first one, in every way possible. Just a little over one month to get there...
Blogpost with some screenshots is up: https://blog.playstation.com/2022/01/06/take-a-closer-look-at-the-tribes-of-horizon-forbidden-west-including-the-utaru-and-tenakth/
My eyes... decima engine on drugs.
The collab with Kojima has paid off. Wonder if he'll continue beefing up the engine for his future games.
Kojima's team made their own customizations and improvements. Iirc part of the deal was that they share whatever engine work they do with Guerilla.
It's been a while so I did some digging for you, was agood refresher for me as well.
This is from the Death Stranding wiki:
>Realizing the engine needed to be altered to accommodate the starkly different world of Death Stranding, Kojima had his team improve on its code base and send their updates to Guerrilla. This led to the installation of a Kojima satellite team at Guerrilla, to further facilitate collaboration between the two studios in the advancement of the engine.
Scroll to about 30:00. 20:00 starts the engine talk
He used the decima for death stranding, and made adjustments to it for the visual look of that game. He worked on making it better as well as using it
I'm sure he will if they continue using it. No reason not to really with all the success they had.
That Triceratops bot tho. Boy oh boy, I'm so hyped.
Everyone is talking about the graphics. I'm excited for the gameplay and lore. Seriously, every tribe look very similar but so unique.
Same. As far as the lore goes, I'm wondering about that mysterious last tribe mentioned in this trailer, the one looking for secrets and stuff. I wonder if Sylens belongs to this tribe, although I still think he may be operating independently
From what it looked like in the earlier trailers, Sylens is controlling the rebels behind the scenes. He appears to be overriding the machines for the rebels in the first trailer.
That doesn’t mean he can’t also be leading this mysterious tribe as well and is just using the rebels as a diversion.
But I think it’s something bigger than Sylens, personally.
plot twist: sylens is like palpatine and he’s actually playing chess against himself with both sides of the conflict to get what he actually wants
Probably. It's kind of how he was in the first one.
Reminds me of Mac from IASIP
“I’m playing Both sides”
I thought he was part of the Banuk before re: Frozen Wilds dlc discusses him?
It will be seriously disappointing if BOTW2 overtakes this just because it is Zelda by the end of the year. BOTW was so overrated, and this game looks to literally solve all the issues that H1 had while also even incorporating elements of the previous open worlds they drew inspiration from. No knock on BOTW2, it's just I don't feel it stands a chance to this game. Switch is just way too dated for me personally.
So when they first came out it was an innovation versus a great game with flaws both with bows and open world.
It's crazy they're releasing again in the same year. However, I think BOTW2 will not have the same magic as the first due to familiarity. While the same can be said for Forbidden West. There seems to be a ton of improvements and changes to make Forbidden West stand out
I like BOTW, but the sheer amount of bullshit it stole from every other open world, and the sheer amount of bullshit press it got for being innovative was absolutely ridiculous. I don't mind it winning really, but the number of PERFECT GAME GUYZ awards it got was a stunning indictment how blatantly corrupt the press is. The game has shitloads of issues. Horizon did too. But it also didn't get across the board 10s either. BOTW still plays like ass even on an emulator. It reminds me of a PS3 game honestly, and sometimes even worse in graphics.
I haven't played horizon yet so I can't compare it to botw, but botw felt so innovative for me because it is the first open world game I've ever played where it felt like it needed to be open world. So many open world games flood you with pointless boring quests and things to do. Everything in botw felt like it actually had a purpose and was so fun to experiment with the mechanics and explore the world. It's not perfect but it's damn close. It's innovative because if other games copy the freedom they gave in the game, then open world games might start actually being good.
Holy shit man. This world, the visuals.. so much variety. So much life, the tribes, the activity and culture in the settlements, the music! I can't wait 6 more weeks, need it now.
The sunset in the final shot is just breathtaking, and in both this and the Machines of the Forbidden West, they've teased about something beyond. I think we are in store for many surprises still.
Oh wow I'm excited to hear the music too
I think I made a mistake waiting until now to play the first game, I just platinumed it a few days ago and while I do want to play Forbidden West, I feel like I'm not ready to get back into this world yet.. guess I should have played it a while ago. Might just wait a month or two before buying it
You might even luck out if you wait long enough and get a discount. While the game looks wicked there’s no reason why you can’t wait a few months and hopefully save a few dollars.
I always do that, I never buy games on launch besides for Ratchet and Clank cos I love the series and I was really hyped for it
How’d you like the game?
I liked it but that's about it honestly. It's not that different from other open world games. I definitely wanna play the new one but I feel like it'll feel more or less the same so I'd rather wait a bit more before buying it
Fair enough. Hope you like the next one more!
R&C was visually stunning but the story was hollow and the game was very short
Oh i was talking about horizon, but that’s too bad you didn’t really love ratchet.
Elden ring is like a few days after this, we are spoilt.
Yeah it's gonna be a long time before I touch Forbidden West because of ER
Did you play the Frozen Wilds dlc?
Yep right after I platinumed the main game, overall took me between 50-60 hours. only 2 trophies I'm missing are the NG+s
Ah good. Now it's just the waiting game.
I think the opposite actually. I think you lined it up well. Enjoy either way though!
This shit is gonna slap man.
The trailer starts by saying “At the Eastern edge of the Sundom....”
Shouldn’t that be “At the *Western* edge...”, or do I need another cup of coffee? The eastern edge of the Sundom would be Daytower gate, beyond which are the Nora.
They said the Oseram, so maybe just an outpost or something? So maybe a group of Oseram left to start their own thing, like Free Heap
The wiki says the oseram lands are the claim, which is north of the sundom (with an entrance from pitchcliff) but still west of ban-ur (where the frozen wilds took place). So neither Western nor eastern edge are correct, it should be the northern edge
I hope the actual characters within the tribes are good this time around. Man, the side characters in Zero Dawn are absolutely terrible. And seeing some of the fresh faces in this trailer gives a little bit of pause.
Guess I'll find out next month.
They already drastically improved that in the expansion dlc.
It must be my open world "callousness" of what's normally expected on NPC AI, but I'm going to laugh if that same NPC(s) is still there getting the same tattoo-work, at the same spot for well over 50 hours of gameplay.
They can't all be RDR2
God I wish Rockstar would just give us 60fps in that game on new consoles already. I really want to replay it but I really don’t wanna do it at 30fps lol.
Well there’s [this blog post](https://blog.playstation.com/2021/11/22/horizon-forbidden-west-an-authentic-world/) which sounds like they want more dynamic NPCs but we’ll find out in six weeks.
Just started the first 3 days ago after trying it twice and not liking it.. absolutely hooked and loving it now
I want to know about the floating islands.
They’re not floating. They just have clouds going through them that makes it look like they are. It’s just ancient skyscrapers.
Ah ok I see it now.
God of War's graphics look very similar to the 2018 game. I thought this was due to the game being cross-gen, but Forbidden West looks significantly better than Zero Dawn.
GG is known for absolutely pumping up iterative sequels well beyond the last game, and that was their first open world. I wouldn't knock GoW though. We haven't seen much.
>this is probably the biggest game of 2022.
Well it better be the best, because this game is the main reason I bought a PS5. The only reason actually. ;)
For me personally Elden Ring. A souls fan through and through. Plus it's the culmination of all their souls games. Though I have no doubt this will be really great too.
I agree Horizon is like the new ESO or fallout or Ark for Sony, the game looks so fully realized, I want to tap my screen to see if the simulation realizes I'm there - that's how good it looks
I'm leaning more and more towards this. I absolutely adore God of War (my favorite game of last generation), but it was a game that it was so good that I don't think it's possible for them to evolve the formula much more. Horizon, on the other hand, was already a very good game, but it can reach a stellar status if the sequel really nails it and improves all the aspects of the game that might've felt lackluster in the first one.
> this game has the potential to be one of the greatest sequels ever existed. even greater than other famous sequels like uncharted 2 arkham city portal 2 mass effect 2 etc.
I wouldn't say better than those, but definitely have a similar effect as those had, as they were mostly considered masterpieces and some of the best games ever made, by iterating on the good ideas of the original games.
>but it can reach a stellar status if the sequel really nails it and improves all the aspects of the game that might've felt lackluster in the first one.
Pretty much. I didn't exactly love HZD as a whole but I could always see the amazing potential. Great combat and great universe, those are very solid fundations to have. If they improved enough upon what I disliked, mainly the sidequests and the map feeling a bit too superfical and uninteractive, they'll have won me over.
I'm not worried about side quests. take a look at frozen wilds. guerilla knew about this issue. frozen wilds quests were much better compare to the game itself
That's nice to hear, I didn't play the DLC so I wouldn't know.
Oh man, the dlc is great. Absolutely beautiful environment, better particle effects and drastically improved voice acting and motion capture. It has the best snow deformation I've seen in a game besides RDR 2 and the aurora borealis and volcano are stunning.
> this game is probably the biggest game of 2022.
i truly believe the biggest game of the year will be Starfield
Have we even seen gameplay for it? I really don’t think it’s going to be that good. But also I have never liked fallout
If Hogwarts legacy comes out in 2022, that will be the biggest game. I already know people that have never owned a gaming console/gaming PC that want to buy one, just for that game.
Possibly due to casual gamer appeal
i’d easily bet against that, although i’m personally very excited for it
I hope it comes out and without bugs.
If its released this year and after Fallout 76 and FO4 i have zero faith in Bethesda nowadays, Skyrim was and is amazing and i still play it now what with the PS5 version but Starfield needs to be more then just Skyrim in space with slightly better visuals what still look dated. Not only that Starfield is coming after a decade of big space based games, No Man's Sky, The Outer Worlds, The Outer Wilds, Elite Dangerous and so on the bar is high now and its big selling point is not unique like it is with Fallout or Elder Scrolls.
Only if the combat and enemies can compete with hfw which I highly doubt.
i mean there's no reason to compare them that way
And I highly doubt that Horizon will match the sense of discovery and exploration of Starfield.
You haven't even seen gameplay of starfield. Nothing which indicates the amount of quests and map size. For all you know it could either end up being a good game or a dud like Fallout 4 and 76 whose exploration is nothing to brag about.
Seems to look amazing, different tribes with cultures, very dense map with lots to discover stated by Guerilla, underwater worlds, climbing, even flying isn’t out of question. On top of that amazing combat.
Bad combat is the reason I hate most rpg. Problem with Bethesda is that the main aspect of their game is combat. When you explore you fight, get loot to get stronger for combat. If your combat sucks what the point of exploration? I rather play elden ring instead who does it right.
Botw is vastly superior in this aspect. You can play around with the physics engine, do puzzles etc.
If the only mechanics starfield has is combat and everything around combat which means crafting for better armor/weapons, dungeons were the main aspect is killing enemies and loot which also is tailored around the combat and your combat completely sucks its a bad game.
Maybe they do something revolutionary when it comes to choices and how it effects the world but I doubt it. That aspect in rpgs is still so undercooked.
“When you explore you fight…”
Lol ummm…no? Games that do exploration best don’t need to have some type of combat in every scenario. Your idea of what makes exploration good is vastly different from mine.
It’s fine that you enjoy Horizon. I didn’t. People like different things.
Nah Starfield/BOTW2/Elden Ring/GOW Ragnarok is more hype.
How? Everything what I saw from hfz looks superior than elden ring. Much more beautiful, detailed and lively world, much better graphics and animation, underwater worlds, full climbing, more interesting and complex enemies (slitherfang), different towns, different tribes with different cultures, combat with a higher skill ceiling.
Because Elden Ring is the culmination of the SoulsBorne genre and combines elements from Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro which are all some of the best games of all time, on top of an open world for the first time ever.
This right here.
The art design in hfw looks better to me and I thought bloodborne looked better too but art design is subjective anyway and doesn’t make something goty, the best etc.
The things we can compare hzw does better. The world is better animated thus feels realer and more vivid, the engine is vastly superior and you clearly can see it in everything.
The complexity of the slitherfang surpasses anything fromsoftware has done so far, the tools for exploration in hfw are better because of free climbing, hook, swimming and gliding.
The combat has a much higher skill ceiling, especially with all the mobility options added to the game, its also more tactical and you can approach combat in much more unique ways.
The thing is that many soulsborne players seems to have a very narrow taste in gaming. They want simple yet rewarding melee combat, some exploration, environmental and cryptic storytelling. Thus they are on average very biased. They don’t care for graphics, advanced tech or gameplay innovations which doesn’t involve combat as long as the game has the typical souls elements. They aren’t really qualified to participate in a discussion about the best/better games.
We saw a 1 second clip of the slitherfang and you’re saying it surpasses anything From has ever done? Man, I’m hyped as hell for HFW but the amount of hyperbole in this thread in particular is so funny to me.
your comparison is stupid.
let me get this straight, I'm shocked that it hasn't been a year since rift apart came out and we already have game more beautiful than that game(hfw). but there's something special about fromsoftware art design that you only understand if you play their games. you're comparing visuals fidelity and you shouldn't just name a fromsoftware game which is doing OK in term of visuals. its art design that makes it special.
and again comparing the gameplay is another stupid thing. horizon is ranged combat and stealth focused while elden ring is all about melee combat. have you ever asked yourself why fromsoftware is the best in the genre? just name a studio which can make something close to a fromsoftware games in terms of gameplay.
that being said I personally believe forbidden west has more advantages compared to elden ring. but elden ring is a massive game and only a fool would underestimate fromsoftware's talent .
Elden Ring is much more than melee but go on.
Well I didn't have the chance to play network test and don't know much about elden ring but to my experience outside of magic builds there's not m going on with fromsoftware's games in ranged combats. except or maybe firearms in bloodborn
I have to ask how much of From Software have you played? I only say that because of some conceptual misunderstanding.
Granted don't forget HFW stepped up melee too this time.
all of them except ds2. but never finished ds1.
Lol the entire last paragraph of your comment is ridiculous. The Souls games are some of my all time favorites, but my taste in games ranges from Rocket League to Halo to games like Gone Home and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture.
The amount of stupid things you said in that paragraph alone is actually kind of impressive.
More interesting and complex enemies? Have you ever played a Souls game? And different towns/tribes don’t mean anything if they’re as boring and pointless as the first game.
Also, people who love the Souls games don’t play them for cutting edge graphics. If that’s what you’re more into, then yes Horizon will have better graphics, although I prefer the art style of Elden Ring.
This specific thread is making me laugh so hard. Firstly, how is anyone defining “the biggest game of 2022.” Sales? Critical reception? Square footage of the game world? General time spent talking about X game from your favorite YouTuber/podcaster? It’s just a bunch of people saying “this is my most hyped game” and anything that isn’t that is obviously not bigger.
I’m so excited for the new Horizon because of everything you mentioned. It looks like an improvement on everything from the first game, but that doesn’t make it the “biggest” game. Hell, God of War will surely sell more and have higher critical reception. It’s okay to be excited for games. It’s okay to have different opinions for what you like too. But 2022 seems like a massively stacked year. Multiple games will sell better (Starfield, COD, GOW, EA sports games, probably even GT7, etc).
I don’t think I have a point, and I’m not calling you out specifically, more so the endless debating over what the biggest game will be is, because that’s such a meaningless qualifier that cannot be objectively measured, yet people are fighting each other over their opinions lol.
at first I was worried about PS4 holding back visual fidelity, but we're in for a treat, guys! 👌
It'll hold it back in gameplay terms maybe, like get on top of flying machines.
I know this is something many of us wanted but I can live without it if the environment is such breathtaking and vivid
Lmao for real, most of the tribes are on the ground.
Yeah I really wanted it but this game has so much new impressive stuff i don't mind. Based on the devs past comments about it they know how many want it and want it themselves so i would be incredibly surprised if it doesn't happen in the third game anyways.
It really sucks that I can't share this with my wife. She wants to know as little as possible when she gets this day one. I'm super stoked to see her play it (she gets first Dibs)
your wife knows how to do it
Funny how it release just 10 days before the 5th year anniversary of the first game. Now I'm gonma to feel old🙁
The graphics of this game really makes me want to buy a new 4K HDR TV instead of my 1440p 144hz pc monitor. Sorry my wallet T\_T
Did I see a tribe set up in Yosemite? Half Dome was in the background. Also was there a tribe at the Palo Alto/Stanford Dish area? of course SF is represented.
Have they talked about how they’re changing missions? I thought the first games side missions were pretty bad. Or at least not interesting to me.
yea, i love horizon but a lot of side quests were pretty basic and not tied in to anything.
Frozen Wilds drastically improved on this already, along with quality of voice acting and motion capture.
I thought they had discussed trying to improve the side missions and making the rewards more meaningful, but I might be confusing it with a different game.
Okay this trailer really sealed it for me this is the game I’m getting in February
Can’t wait to play this on my 77” oled.
Ooh I'm jealous. What model? That must've been pricey. Congrats!
I've pre ordered but I'm more hyped for elden ring a shame this was not out sooner as having this so close to possibly the greatest game of our time (if it lives up to my expectations) has dampened my eagerness for horizon.
Greatest game of our time? I love the souls games but lol
People overhyping Elden Ring are setting themselves up for disappointment. It's going to be just as good as the other Souls games when people are expecting it to be much more.
I haven’t seen people hyping it up to be any more than an open world Souls game, which sounds great.
Literally the person above the one you replied to just said it could possibly be "the greatest game of our time"... which is laughable. Dont get me wrong, I'm excited for elden ring too but that's just overboard.
I mean, a lot of people already feel that way about the souls games. So to someone who thinks they are already the greatest games of course they think that a bigger version of that is going to be the new greatest game.
That's not strange or farfetched at all from that perspective.
Yeah I can understand that. I guess i just feel like "greatest game of our time" is more than just a personal "my favorite game" statement.
And someone else in this thread is saying pretty much the same about this new Horizon. People hyping games is nothing new. Elden Ring isn’t getting anymore hyped up than other big AAA releases.
Ah but you're shifting to a topic that wasn't being discussed here. We werent comparing Elden Ring to Horizon, the topic was just elden ring. I was saying that in fact people are overhyping Elden Ring right in the same comment line that you had replied to saying people were not.
I havent seen anyone say that Horizon will be "the greatest game of our time" which i would also disagree with (how could anyone possibly say that about any game pre release with confidence?).
I think Horizon and Elden Ring both look very good in different ways and im excited for both! Although I do think Horizon will be the better experience overall.
I've only seen someone say it could be the biggest game this year, which is not too farfetched. Certainly not as farfetched as saying Elden Ring will be the greatest game of our time.
Did you check out the elden ring subreddit. Some of them really think this is going to be the best game of all time lol.
Just as good as other Souls...so phenomenal?
3 souls games are in my Top 20 ever.

Any pre order bonuses? Haven’t gotten around to it yet and will almost certainly buy on launch, just wondering if it’s worth plugging in my PSN cards now vs later
just saw recently that pre order bonus are outfit and spear. but naturally they all will not be used after the starting area due to better equipment
Yea there are some really cool looking ones in the OG game but I always just used the ugly energy shield one
I just beat the first one about a year ago when I got the PS5 and it was immediately a top 3 game I've ever played.
FW is going to be insane.
I could not get into the first game, with that said there isn't much out so I may have to give this a shot.
Pile on that lore nice and thick because I'm going to roll around it like a pig in mud. Love it.
I hope I can kill the dorks who sing to “heal the land” or whatever
i was just gifted a copy of Horizon Zero Dawn for Xmas. i've had a PS5 since August but have only played GT Sport on it. I'm excited to try Zero Dawn out. This game looks great.
And this is not even fully nextgen exclusive. Crazy
This looks incredible!
This game looks better than anything out now on any platform. Period.
Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is arguably better looking but that's not surprising as it's not an open world game.
