Look for the journal of Nature If forests increased to a large degree, they would affect local climate for sure. If they were massive, like the Amazon, they would affect things globally too. It's not all good news, they would encourage increased rainfall and there are so many forms of life dependent on grasslands that it would be akin to a mass extinction. Humans evolved in grasslands 🙂

I should add too that oxygen could be toxic, if you had enough plant life giving out O2, it could change the chemical makeup of the atmosphere to a dangerous point over a long time. Oxygen is what killed nearly all life in the first mass extinction.
