What determined the location of glands in the body? (Evolutionarily)

Not every thing in body design makes sense or has a specific reason beyond “this trait isn’t more likely to kill off future generations.”
Aka : we really don’t know why
It isn't determined or random. It's more, happenstance, which is due to the various natural pressures that effect organisms. Depending on the gland or whatever body part, it may have been more beneficial for it to be located in specific areas due to efficiency or something, and so over time it moved through the generations, or it could just be that where it happened to mutate was benign and remained that way, and it just stayed there because nothing about it made a species less successful at passing along it's genes.
