Mets interested in Cabrera

Mets interested in Cabrera

MegaManXanax

If we needed a bench infielder or if JD wasn’t coming back I’d be all for it but neither of those two scenarios seem to be the case so I’m not sure why we’d do this.

NJImperator

Exactly. Either go out and get someone that doesn’t just maintain the status quo but pushes us over the top, or do nothing.

IpManTae

JD who?

Guymcpersonman

I was all set to say "but why tho", and then I see he's having his best defensive season in five years.

TheNardDawg89

That's gonna be no from me dog

knackisback3

I'm sure Mets are interested in lots of people right now

DarthPlagueis_

3 day old article but not sure if I’ve seen it posted

If the Mets got him back, there’s nobody else I would trust more in a big game situation than Asdrubal Cabrera. I fucking loved that dude as a Met. I wouldn’t be against this because he’s still a solid bench player but I don’t really see how he would factor in to the team.

flyingsubs1

The walk off homer against the Phillies was such a legendary moment

[deleted]

Don’t think we should go after Cabrera. He’s not big enough of a upgrade to go after.

DarthPlagueis_

Cabrera and Merrill Kelly is exactly the type of package I can envision us getting though lol

Kozlow

Maybe in the past, I’m expecting bigger things out of this owner.

sqqints

That’s the point they aren’t looking for a big upgrade, just a good vet to have on the bench and he’ll cost next to nothing

tennysonbass

No offense , but they already have that.

sqqints

I tend to agree but im not the one who wrote the Mets are interested, was just trying to justify

[deleted]

Yea but to offload prospects for Cabrera who is slightly better than our third base options already is a bad move in my book.

sqqints

They aren’t “offloading prospects” for him lmao

[deleted]

What do you think your going to get him for free? He’s on a one year deal so they should get some decent offers

sqqints

Define “decent offers” lmfao

[deleted]

1.3 war and a 750 ops. So some mid level prospects and a low prospects.

Umphreeze

that is...not what is going to happen

[deleted]

We will see. A guy on pace for 3.5 war isn’t going to be handed over for a box of broken toys. Even if he’s a one year rental.

sqqints

There’s no way in hell anyone is paying that for him

Kincy_Jive

bring back Wilmer you cowards

[deleted]

Didn't Cabrera have some beef with the Mets when he left? True, different management but still.

JimmyC8277

If memory serves me correct he didn’t want to play third base unless the Mets picked up his option.

[deleted]

If true, what a twat.

0rangePolarBear

I believe he wanted to return to the Mets because his son loved him playing there. Young son who knew the entire team and would hang out. The Mets didn’t call him to talk about coming back and his son was apparently heart broken. I always like Cabrera, I would welcome his return but doesn’t seem like he has much of a role. Not a bad bat of the bench though by any means and provides good depth in case of any injuries.

WildChinoise

Nah. Just bring up a prospect, LOLS...

Forsaken-Special-863

..... why?

kcons86

No

BillW87

Feels like a lateral move. I guess he's technically better than Peraza but I don't like the idea of giving up anything meaningful to upgrade our 26th man.

KantExplain

I would love Assdribble to come back as our supersub and get a ring with us!

CybeastID

No.

NewYorkMetsies

No they’re not

Metboy1970

Sure. He’s older. Past his prime. Probably injury prone. Sounds like a Mets move.

a_reply_to_a_post

bringing back ass dribbles? cool... what's Juan Uribe doing with his summer?

ootuoyetahi

What are they doing?

gynoceros

Heh, THAT Cabrera? I mean he was an awesome guy to have around for helmet management and morale...

Doc-Spock

Waste of prospects to go after Cabrera. Pass.
