OMG I love that Bull Terrier!! I hope someone scoops him up. Wish my dog could not be a butthead to other dogs. :/

sqweedoo

I’m so surprised he’s had no interest!

Oh_TheHumidity

What?! He’s such a handsome boy! Not holding my breath bc it’s very soon but I sent him to my MIL who lost her dog about a month ago. Depressing there are so many Malinois too. I guess people didn’t read the instruction manual for that model before purchasing. Brilliant breed.

vonjamin

Which one is that?

sqweedoo

Second page, bottom center. Like the Target dog from the commercials

Oh_TheHumidity

And Spud Mackenzie if you’re a child of the 80s.

caustic255

Is that the left middle one? If so thats the first one my eyes locked o to, beautiful eyes and smile 🤩

Oh_TheHumidity

Yes! Bottom middle of second image. Yay!! I hope it works out. I want him to have a happy forever home so badly. (I mean, I want that for all these dogs but his little booper nose is irresistible.) I’ve always loved bull terriers but he is especially handsome because his football dome head is still cute and not overly pronounced like some bloodlines. If you end up with him let me know so I can get all the fuzzies. Trampled Rose is obviously a great resource. That said, all my dogs have exclusively been bully breed rescues, so if you ever want to reach out for advice, feel free. This is [my current bossy potato](https://imgur.com/a/3yEFCV7). Edit: I just realized you might be looking at the puppy on the first page. Still looks like a bully mix so I stand by my offer. :)

caustic255

I didnt realize they had 2 images until you just mentioned it haha. Unfortunately I cant have him right now and have to wait another month or 2 before ill be able to properly do it but i appreciate your offer its the sweetest thing 😍 Oh, and awesome potato!!

Toasterband

I \*just\* adopted a dog from Trampled Rose, and can say they were genuinely helpful at finding a dog that would fit me and my lifestyle, and now I am a total dog nerd.

tyoew

I got my dog from a trampled rose post two years ago, such a great group!

sqweedoo

Mind if I ask your dogs shelter name?

tyoew

Zelda

sqweedoo

Omg how is she?? A very special girl. She waited a very long time for you

tyoew

She’s great! A real gem, I’m very lucky

sqweedoo

Love to hear it <3

ElCaptainViva

Dog tax.

[link to Trampled Rose Petfinder profiles](https://www.petfinder.com/search/pets-for-adoption/?shelter_id%5B0%5D=LA410&sort%5B0%5D=recently_added) Thanks for always putting up with us begging for these sad sacks r/NewOrleans. We love these dogs and we love this sub! Happy to answer questions in the comments or via DM! If you would like to adopt, foster, volunteer, or donate, please keep us in mind!

2tinypoodles

I adopted the sweetest young, house trained, purebred chihuahua (Bruno!) from TRR about a year and a half ago. He is a perfect dog and I can’t believe anyone ever gave him up. Please consider rescuing!

sqweedoo

I love that! Thank you for adopting.

Lazy-Beginning-3448

I set up my boss with Briar; thanks for sharing this! She sent in an app this am; their 16 year old Golden passed away recently (she was also dumped by a breeder) and they are looking for a Golden from a rescue. They are super wonderful dog parents! Hopefully it’s a doggy love match! 💞

sqweedoo

Talking to her now!

sqweedoo

Thank you!! This is exactly what we need from folks <3

bunbunbunnybunny

Do they allow for fostering? Or just volunteering to take dogs out for a day or even just a walk?

sqweedoo

There’s no facility, so no walking really needed, but we absolutely need fosters, even if just for a short time period! Every dog we have is in foster, so the more fosters we have, the more lives we save. We will work to place you with a foster dog that fits your needs.

AlarmingPossible8325

Been looking to adopt, mainly looking for younger as I’m less experienced training older dogs, not close-minded to it. I can afford care but initial costs are my current barrier. Do you know what Trampled Rose adoption fees are? And if they spay/neuter before adopting?

sqweedoo

The adoption fees vary but all dogs will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas/ticks, up to date on heartworm prevention, and if the dog is heartworm positive we cover the full cost of treatment. If you want to submit an application, I would be the one to process it and we can talk more about this and I can make some suggestions on dogs that might be a good fit for you.

AlarmingPossible8325

I’m gonna shoot you a DM. My biggest fear is taking on a pup and having to give them back. Not down with that.

sqweedoo

Don’t be afraid of that! All adoptions begin with a one week trial period to make sure the dog is a fit. That’s exists for a reason-because we want the best for everyone involved. You can’t know a dog by looking at a photo, so we expect every attempt to not be a match. The good thing about all the dogs being in foster is if they aren’t a fit they can go right back to their foster, and we can try to find a dog that is perfect for you

cheersbeersneers

I got my sweet Felon from Trampled Rose right after Ida!! An amazing rescue to work with, we still love going to all the adoptions events

It's hard to adopt a pet when half of the city doesn't accept pets when you rent.

DippStarr

It's also hard to find people willing to pay $475 for an adoption when the SPCA charges less than $100 for a similar adult dog, while providing a similar lifeline. This is half a month's rent for a lot of people.

PriorKlutzy5203

Private rescues don't necessarily have the same spending resources spca have. They have to medically treat and feed these animals...that costs money. A pet isn't supposed to be a cheap companion either. Higher fees also weed out the cheap lazy people that will adopt and then forget or discard when they get frustrated. There's reasons behind everything 🤷🏻‍♂️

DippStarr

I take issue with calling people "cheap" or "lazy" when they commit to taking on the lifetime responsibility of caring for a pet. The adoption application process vettes their suitability in that regard. The bottom line is that private rescues can be a pain in the ass to deal with for numerous reasons, and the added cost just makes it that much more of a deal breaker. I can't speak to trampled rose, but have heard horror stories from people who were put through the wringer just to have the animal they wanted given to a "better match" family.

PriorKlutzy5203

You can take issue with my comment if you want to but I don't take back what I said. YES a lot of people are cheap and lazy pet owners. They are quick to adopt a pet but once said pet does something they don't like they are quick to discard them or they just flat out neglect them instead of training. Or when the animal gets sick they don't feel like the animals life is worth the proper treatment because it costs too much money??? Adopting a pet is a responsibility and not everyone deserves that responsibility. So higher fees will help weed out the ones that dont take an animals life seriously. I'm 3.5k into treatment for FIP in a kitten I adopted...do you think the next person would invest that money into a kitten? Nope. The vet that gave me the diagnosis even said that 95% of the people dealing with this would just let it die 🤦🏻‍♂️. Do me a favor...go rescue a few dogs, take them to vet to get health check, shots, fixed and feed them until they find a home...then come back and let me know if you would like to take that financial loss. Smh

DippStarr

I'm nearly $5k and 10 weeks into chemo on my 4 year old dog that will die of lymphoma anyways before summer, just as an FYI for your measuring stick of commitment. It's none of our damned business to dictate how much money people have to care for their pets. Charging $475 for adult dogs is just an unpalatable risk for most people to take when alternatives exist... Literally less from backyard breeders.

PriorKlutzy5203

I'll let you tell it man...whatever narrative that helps you sleep at night

CreepingSiren

What convenient timing as I'm opening my heart to another canine family member.

wundermaschinen

Mostly posting to boost. I have two large rescues already, and that’s all I can handle at the moment. These dogs look so sweet. Have only heard good things about trampled rose

BlueEyesNOLA

How do I tell someone without reddit to look ?? Some aren't cool like US...lol

sqweedoo

Share this link with them! https://www.petfinder.com/search/pets-for-adoption/?shelter_id%5B0%5D=LA410&sort%5B0%5D=recently_added

Vast-Improvement-797

I’d love to Forster! But I have 3 dogs of my own whom I’ve adopted in the past. Two of them are not neutered, would I still be allowed to foster?

sqweedoo

That’s a question I would have to run up the chain.

Vast-Improvement-797

Okay thank you let me know

caustic255

God i wish i was in a position to adopt right now, i *so* need a companion in life right now especially something with such responsibility.

sqweedoo

What is your biggest barrier?

caustic255

My living situation unfortunately. They already have 3 little snouzers (sp?) And a huge lab but once i am staying in my own permanent residence getting a cat and dog are on my priority list lol

sqweedoo

Just reach out when you’re ready

caustic255

I absolutely will!!! I just want to make sure im 100% in a situation that doesnt end in me not being able to properly provide for them in any way. Once im in my own situation that i am in complete control of i will definitely be in touch. Should be good to go in about another month or 2 tops!
