Actually it's one of the best ways to defend yourself in a shark attack since they're basically just big dumb sea dogs who think you're fish. Punch it in the nose, it gets annoyed and goes away because it doesn't think it's worth it to fight back
Unless, of course, it's bigger than you. . .
It's the eyes that got me. Same sort of soulless malignity I see in the eyes of politicians, bankers, CIA torture masters, military, priests, doctors and social workers... pretty much every *authority* in which the public has invested its trust and treasure for generations.
"Can I eat it? Then never mind."
Even if Jacques Cousteauās ghost manifested beside me to tell me the shark I was face to face with was a harmless Sand Tiger I would still be floating in a bubble of my own feces.
"I will grab this tube of muscles that is armed with razor sharp face knives by its swim-ribbons then tug upon them gently. Wish me luck! I brought a stick!"
Sand tiger bites are meant for catching small fish, and it is why their teeth are long and spear like. Getting bit by one is basically like being stabbed by a ton of needles. Compare this to a bullshark or tiger that have serrated triangular teeth that are mean to rip larger prey to shreds, causing them to bleed out quickly. Getting bit by one of those can turn lethal insanely quickly.
Or dive with them at night. They wonāt eat you but theyāre a lot less docile around dinner time.

Sharks are very misunderstood. Unless you did something stupid to aggravate them then in the other case they're pretty chill. I've seen a video of sharks not going for human blood but for fish blood. Sharks are not after humans even if they seem like it.
Yeah itās funny how scared of sharks people are but think nothing of walking up to an Elk or Moose to get a selfie, even seen people posing with a supposedly snoozing Crocodile, that didnāt end well. The amount of video of divers with sharks all around them is amazing! You donāt see wildlife photographers getting that up and personal with Grizzly bears!
I live in CO and have seen the stupidity of people around deer/elk/moose firsthand. The thing that scares me about sharks is I canāt take the same precautions to avoid them as much as possible, and if they decided to attack thereās not much I could do.
Perhaps their evolutionary ancestors were coastal/islanders who never developed the "nopenopenope" response to large, dangerous mammals.
Or they're just dumb, idk
>Sand tiger
We used to encounter many grey nurse sharks, what we ozzies call sand tigers, whilst we dived around NSW Australia. A beautiful creature, scary to some but a docile shark and one of the only sharks that does not have to constantly swim. They position themselves in the water currents and let those currents drive the water through their gills. My favourite shark!
I thought it was horrifying until I realized that what I thought were the āeyesā are really the nostrils. Now I just see a sharp tooth derp and I love it.
I've swum with those sharks before in Manly, Australia.
Just awesome creatures, pretty gentle but gave me a big scare.
I was just chilling and a small stingray decided to take a rest on my hand so I was focusing on that. Another diver pointed behind me so I turned around and was face to face with the grey nurse shark not more than half a metre away. Scared the shit out of me!! The shark just looked at me and was like bro it's a prank and just moved on....
Aww, he's just a big curious water puppy! If you learn anything about sharks, you know they are not "mindless killing machines " and generally will leave humans alone unless provoked. They are magnificent and vital parts of the ocean ecosystem and should be respected not feared and killed at every opportunity just because of some dumb movie you saw.
I can see why people freak out, the teeth gave me a bit of a scare.
Until you see that doofy little eye! hahaha!
Ngl I thought he was pretty cute
[ŃŠ“алено]
Punch it in the nose
That's not nice
And an easy way to get ur arm ripped off

The eye calmed me down a heap lol. Same shy eyes as my dogs when theyāre trying not to make eye contact
Eye or not it will still murder u if it wanted to XD
Oh thats just Bruce, he like to show off his dental art if you will!! Good fella
Heās obviously got fish friends.
I came here strictly for this comment!
Me too!
NOT FOOD
Come on, he's just trying to smile...
It was the cold eyes that did it for me

mate how many CIA torture masters have you seen?
Yikes
Seems you've been in a lot of meaningful staring contests. You've looked a lot of CIA torture masters in the eyes, then?

Who the fuck is upvoting this? This is mental illness.

Heās really a nice guy
He never knew his father
Fish are friends, not food.
Hiiii Bruce!
Sand tiger. Not aggressive you're pretty safe.
Even if Jacques Cousteauās ghost manifested beside me to tell me the shark I was face to face with was a harmless Sand Tiger I would still be floating in a bubble of my own feces.
They look fierce, but generally are pretty chilled unless you do something stupid like make a grab for them or aggravate them.

I'm shocked by how benign the damage from that shark bite looked. Granted, it was all pixelated, but that dude was lucky it wasn't way worse.
I feel that was likely just a warning.

Yup spot on. Just like thatš
What a twit.
Like that one guy who stuck his hand in the womb of a dead female and got his finger bite of by an unborn baby sand tiger?
Erm, what?
unless you do something stupid like.... what about breathing? How are Sand Tigers on the breathing part...
Or dive with them at night. They wonāt eat you but theyāre a lot less docile around dinner time. Source: tried it with 30 of them ⦠shortest 100ā dive in history
My thoughts exactly.
Didnāt Cousteau and his crew famously brutally kill like 40 sharks in one of his films. Think his view on sharks would possibly be compromised.
AKA the brown note
The dirty bubble
A bubble of my own feces š
Still terrifying and in my agenda a shark is a shark, so I pass.

Personally, i take the approach with all animalsā¦can this thing possibly kill me? Yes? Not going near it. Could be a snail for all i careā¦
I live in CO and have seen the stupidity of people around deer/elk/moose firsthand. The thing that scares me about sharks is I canāt take the same precautions to avoid them as much as possible, and if they decided to attack thereās not much I could do.
Just reason with them, they can be very understanding. š¦

In my eyes thats not safe Idc what anyone says lol
Thats what my diving partner would tell me
Not a nurse shark? That was my guess but I dunno sharks
He wanted none of that smoke.
Sharks look so dangerous until you see their eyes, then they just look derpy
Until when you see them hunt. Then they look dangerous again,AND FOREVER
Boop his snoot.
I'm sure he'd giggle, laugh, and run away
Not like a normal giggle either. Like a Peter Griffin giggle.

Sorry about (Bruce, mate!) Heās really (a nice guy!)
I like to think the little fish on his face is his adopted brother pointing out the bully that needs to be taken care of.
What an exceptionally menacing angle
That poor shark. Staring into the face of the most apex predator on the planet.
I think it's something like 11 human deaths from shark attacks per year on average vs like hundreds of millions of sharks killed by us yearly
All those little fish be like *"Yo! You want some? You want some of this!?"*
Forbidden Snoot
