Fans on Facebook say “this is a business” and are more in favor in using service times manipulation to have more years of control and many have told me “it’s just a month, you can be patient for a month. Mainly they aren’t as emotional and are far more patient. Do you agree with one or the other or feel there’s a middle ground?

My feeling on this is really simple; if Volpe is that good then you want to extend him anyway for peanuts like the braves are doing. I dont; get the service time manipulation bit of this. I understand that for fringe prospects but if you believe you have a superstar prospect you extend him. Look at what the diamondbacks are doing with Corbin Carroll.

I was gonna say he definitely got eaten up on that one a bit, but it was a nice recovery at least.

I think it shows raw talent to still make the catch on that ball. The reads will come the more he specializes in one position.

But if it really was an "open competition" like the Yankees said it was...then it definitely feels like a missed opportunity for Peraza.

The thing is he's not that great of a hitter, but he's the best defensive SS in the system. That was his leg up. He just had to hit a bit.
