Do all of the Knicks supporters on this subreddit live or have lived in New York?
By - fucaduc
Pop is from Union City, love me some Knicks and Mets!
Ahh the Mets - where BKN and NYK fans can find common ground haha
Yup, never lived in NY in my life. Moved from CO to NJ when I was 4, and my dad took me to 6 games in 93 when nose bleeders were still affordable. We won every game we went to I think we only lost like 4 home games all season in 93.
Very few understand what a stadium is like unless they went to the garden in the 90s. It was unreal. I wasn’t at the 4 point play but remember watching it live and you could feel the energy from MSG through the TV screen. When the Knicks are good, the Garden is the best place in all of sports. Better than the Superdome (although that atmosphere is close) better than the Seahawks stadium (fuck a seahawk). I’ve never been to a Duke or Kentucky game but I think those stadiums are just too small. The garden is big enough to create a momentum but not too massive that it’s like a cavern.
I’d kill to have a team like we had in the 90s again
I went to the Ewing game in the '94 ECF that sent us to the finals. Greatest live sporting event Ive ever been to. The entire city was alive for the Knicks on the streets after. The Giants parade was the closest feeling to that Ive seen.
Not commenting on the 2011 giants parade because we were absolutely robbed in that NFC chip. YouTube Ahmad Bradshaw fumble, that game was handed to the giants.
I'm an Australian. I've been following the Knicks since I came into this world in 1991.
Yep, another Aussie here too. Been a knicks fan since the 90s. Also from Latvian heritage, so the Porzingis draft was my greatest moment as a fan that then turned into my most disappointing moment.
Grew up in Queens.
Lived in Whitestone the first 18 years of my life.
Same, moved to DC when I was still in grade school but stayed a Knicks fan my whole life
That's where I grew up, but I'm in Boston now.
Nice. I travelled for work to lake placid NY when we played the hawks. Saw a fan Ewing jersey. We're everywhere,
Many people associate New York with the city only, upstate NY is a whole other world!
As far as I know, we have a huge international fanbase among all teams, if not the biggest. I am from Southeast Asia and never even been to NYC yet lol
New Jersey…fuck the nets
Facts dude I hated watching the Nets as a kid. Hate watching them now 😂
Proud born and raised New Yorker. 🍎
Huge shout out to the international & out of state Knicks fans Thats pretty cool!
Nah i live in ct

Upstate New York
I'm from South Africa, never been to NY
Westchester NY! Lived here my whole life.
Nope from the Bay Area, CA
Parents then, how are u a Knicks fan?
Not OP, but I’m also from the Bay. My dad and I started watching the team during Linsanity and I stuck with the Knicks even after he left.
To make a long story short, I never watched the NBA till high school and I went to a new high school so all my new friends were into the NBA, didn’t want to hop on the Warriors bandwaggon and I loved Kristaps from playing 2K. So I became a Knicks fan and haven’t looked back since (even after he broke my heart by forcing his way out).
In Nebraska here. Have never lived in NYC.
I'm lucky that Nebraska gets so many East Coast transplants. My favorite radio station is WFMU, one of my best friends was born and raised in the Bronx. I got into basketball later in life. And honestly, the Knicks fanbase being such an amazing bunch is what really sold me.
The funny thing is when I say I'm a Knicks fan, people around here ask "Are you from New York?" without even thinking.
SYRACUSE NY IN THE HOUSE
Yes but now PA
Same here. Philly.
I miss NY every day, but I'm also able to own a house in a city, which is something that never would've happened in NY. The funny thing is I'll probably move to MA in a few years, so I'll be surrounded by Celtics fans.
Never ever, from South of France over there
Grew up on Long Island, currently living in Albany.

No, I'm portuguese and live here, I've visited New York tho and it was my dream city as a kid, I've been a Knicks fan for 10 years now, although I didn't understand or watch the game as much as a kid
Grew up in Queens but I live in Toronto now
Grew up in Upstate NY but didn't become a fan until a little over a decade ago. Fandom is a funny thing - sometimes it's regional, sometimes you like a player, it was a parent's favorite team, countless reasons tbh. You don't find your fandom, your fandom finds you!
I actually have Lebron to thank for being a Knicks fan - didn't know enough to realize how stupid it was to think he may come to the Knicks. Thought it would be awesome to root for the best player in the league. Jumped on anyway since I got the MSG channel and enjoyed rooting for Amare and that bunch, then Melo, and then eternal suffering until now. The Knicks-community kept me staying, nothing like it. NYK 'til I die.
Halifax Nova Scotia - been a massive fan since the early 90s NBA on NBC triple headers.

I’m from KY, been a Knicks fan all my life. I grew up in the 90s so Ewing, LJ, Starks, Houston made me this way.
Originally from Finland. I've lived in over a dozen states in the US. Nowhere else have I experienced the total feeling of love from a stranger than in NY. It's also the only place where a total stranger has tried to bite me. Love New York. Love most NY team besides the Yankees and Giants. I'm a glutton for punishment.
That being said, I'm also a Mavs, Pistons, and Timberwolves fan. I was a Sixers fan during the Iverson era, and I loved the Rockets when Ming was playing. The Knicks though, I'll always love the Knicks.
Originally from Far Rockaway, Queens
I used to live in NY, I live in Ohio now
I’ve lived in South Carolina my whole life. Haven’t had the chance to go to NYC yet. Technically I flew into JFK once but we immediately went to some Suburb outside the city. West something maybe? That trip was wack.
Grew up in Flushing, Queens. Live in Greenpoint, BK now. so have traveled very far.
Bronx New York yerrrrrr
I'm a Taiwanese and have never been to NY. I rooted for the Yankees as a child because Cheng Ming Wang ( who is also a Taiwanese) played for the Yankees and then decided to root for the NBA team in NY as well.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico. Went to a Knicks game when I was 13 and it happened to be the Easter Bulls game between the Melo Knicks and Rose's Bulls. Never lived in NY but I do love the city
From South Central Los Angeles - never been to NY - currently in Vegas. Love em Knicks, ever since Mase and Oak was punkin fools- Charles Smith missed two tip ins bra-
So cool to see so many fans from so far away. I dont think I couldve joined up so recently as some of you. Feel like I just got grandfathered in but my love for the team has never wavered.
Born and raised on the city. Moved to the west coast in February
I'm from and live in Toronto. I get a lot of flack from the newer/bandwagon Raptors fans but it's whatever. When we actually win a chip it'll be 1000x better than what they did.
