Micro transactions are only for meaningless cosmetics and world maps on Bedrock.
It’s not like you need to pay extra for “surprise mechanics” so that you can beat the Ender Dragon.
I know they mean that but the microtransactions don't affect you at all other than putting a extra button on your home screen, which is why I wanted to see what reasoning was
It wouldn't be quite so terrible if they actually moderated it properly.
AntVenom did a video a month or two ago about people stealing free Java resource packs (specifically one of the most popular texture packs in Minecraft history) and selling for real world profit on Bedrock's in-game store.
(Also, if they made it so that legacy skins SHOWED UP on anything except Win 10 edition so that people could be creative with their in-game avatar on Bedrock multiplayer...)
Also cosmetics micro-transactions aren't actually that bad, on bedrock customization can be more pushed with all people being able to see your cosmetics instead of Java which are limited to capes.
but i think marketplace shouldn't be a thing on bedrock, only the customization should be the thing
Aternos is really laggy specially on the versions 1.16+. I suggest self hosting if one of your friends have a decent CPU, ethernet connection, and a good amount of ram. The downside of self hosting are laggy if you guys are farway irl, needs your friend to turn the server on unlike Aternos where you can give permissions to turn the server on without relying on anyone, and could strain your friend's computer depending on what the server runs.
Minehut is good for...
Growing a community? Yes.
Stability? Eh...
Source: I own and pay $10 a month for a minehut server. It is honestly amazing for growing a community due to the free advertisement, but there's a hidden 20 GB storage limit where if you somehow reach it (like if you ran a public smp for a year like I did) that'll make you delete some stuff in order to have the server not constantly crash.
Yeah was about to say, me and my friends set up a mob grinder on Aternos and that pretty much killed it. 5min+ startup and nearly impossible to do anything
Well, [some Karen did complain.](https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360018268092-Highly-Inappropriate-People-ruining-the-fun-for-kids-SERIOUS-)
Problem is, the stuff they are complaining about is something that will never *not* happen. That’s just the nature of the internet. We can *prevent* and *discourage* but it will never be gone.
That, and if you don’t want your child seeing some of the stuff, then basic logic could lead you to the conclusion to not join servers with a higher likelihood of it happening. But, like I mentioned before, it will never *not* happen.
I mean she does have a pint but there is no way to stop it, it's also up to server/realm owners to do that and it should probably be expected for them.
Thats a 4 year old post, I doubt they took it seriously now. (not to mention tracking down what a player has built would require extreme moderation in an SMP for example)
Why aren’t they already restricting the realms their kids can play on? It’s definitely an option. My sister has to approve any new realm/world for my niece, and she has to approve any invite to players, including people my niece already plays with, if they are invited to a world my niece has made. Parent your fucking children.
Since there seems to be a lot of confusion, the way it works is:
1. Game now cryptographically signs messages you send, this means it can be proven you wrote a message yourself.
2. Report includes these signature, so Mojang can tell when they receive a report that it's absolutely written by you.
3. Client mod can disable signing, so you cannot be reported if you get such a mod.
4. Server can decide not to include signatures in chat even if you send them, so you cannot be reported if you play on such a server.
5. Servers can decide not to allow clients that do not sign messages to join, so they can mitigate 3 easily if they want to make sure reports work on their server.
6. This is for *all* Java servers, private ones included, although as stated above it can be disabled by server plugins easily.
7. Every time you connect to a server, you authenticate through Mojang, so it's trivial for them to ban people from all online play.
8. Since the reporting is implemented this way, Mojang has no access to other messages sent that are not included in the report, so this means it's impossible for them to judge the context of your messages. This is obviously problematic.
I don't know how the banning part of the report system is implemented, but it's possible they will go for something more lenient (e.g. telling the server someone is banned but letting the server decide if they want to honour the ban) before it's fully released. Servers will also be able to let you play by disabling online-mode, but this brings a number of other issues so it's unlikely large public servers will do this. You can theoretically use this to still play on your own servers though.
So basically if you report someone on any Java server (except where the owner intentionally disabled it) Mojang can know who wrote the messages?
Why does Mojang even need to implement a report system at all? Let server owners moderate their own servers!
Probably to cover their own butts in case someone turns out to be a pedo or something. If something like that happens they'll be able to remove the person from playing multiplayer and go "see we don't let them interact with people on our game!"
I don't agree with it, but it's not as bad as the op is saying. It's bad, just not that bad.
I mean on first though it doesn't sound too bad, but there are issues with it that makes me think that it is unnecessary to put energy and resources into adding this to the game.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Agreed. I'm more spreading this info because people on here are overblowing the issue and spreading mis info. There's a lot of comments saying that you'll be banned from single player worlds, and op said that Mojang has access to all of your chat logs which both are not at all true. If people are gonna be upset they should make sure they're being upset about an actual issue, not a made up one.
Because if someone decides to sue mojang, and realizes that mojang knew about illegal activity happening in Minecraft servers, and decided to not to do anything about it, they have a strong case for negligence. This is mojang’s plan to prevent that from happening in the first place.
It's good that the community is taking notice of shenanigans, but what would refusing to update to 1.19.1 accomplish? Is the point to just not use the version with these changes?
Your taste in minecraft versions is literally the same as mine. I miss the ole good days of 1.12.2... Life was easier back then and Micro$ofts influences weren't so obvious.
1.12.2 and before was designed around building while 1.13 and later were designed around gameplay time sinks and resource collection. they feel like 2 different games more and more every update
heres the curseforge version [https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/no-chat-reports](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/no-chat-reports)
Now you can get permanently banned across all minecraft multiplayer for making an edgy joke, swearing, or having different political opinions than some people. RIP anarchy servers..
Only thing I actually think is fair is moderating Realms servers. They're run on Mojang's infrastructure, so "their house, their rules" so to speak. But yeah any servers run by individuals or independent hosting companies shouldn't be controlled by Mojang at all.
You called for the help of Mojang. You cried out into the darkness. Nobody listened. Microsoft saw your messages, nothing happened. You call again for help, but nobody came. They have not listened and will not listen. I will happily watch them destroy themselves from the safety of my house after all the insanity they have brought. And for what, money? Nothing benefits with this. Is this just a poor excuse for destroying the game so they can wipe it and make their own without competition?
Used to be able to run 1.12 on my laptop with ~ 20 chunks render distance, no mods, and now in 1.19 i cant get over 30fps with 4 render distance, lowest settings and sodium. Can the next update just be a big performance boost
My computer can run the newer versions at +300fps, but I also want a big performance boost as an update. One word: shaders. Both strong and weak PC users want a performance boost
Yup.
All optimization mods I’ve tried (optifine, the whole sodium bundle, etc) are barely playable
I don’t think it’s that strange, as I have a dual core 2.4GHz i5, 8GB ram, and 1.5GB Intel Iris graphics)
I have essentially one of the worst macs for gaming (late 2013 retina MBP) (it’s too old to run new games, and it’s too new for old games to correctly support its hardware).
mojang doesnt have access to chat logs, they can only see what players report to them, and you can only be banned for being reported enough times by other players, not automatically by some bot. unless someone makes a bot that automatically does that
This is only mildly related to the post, but is it really unprecedented for players to be banned from minecraft?
Like, has mojang really never taken action against a player for some reason or another until now?
Imo, this was probably done because minecraft servers *could* be used as unmonitored chat rooms, so Microsoft is just doing this to limit their potential liabilities and to comply with dictatorial surveilance state policies. On the one hand, it keeps minecraft on the shelf for the people living in them, on the other, it is almost certainly designed to be a massive invasion of their privacy and is an obvious example of over policing the community. If mojang wanted to play hardball with the community guidelines, they should have crushed P2W servers, not people using minecraft Realms as a secure messaging service.
Bans should be entirely up to the server or realm owner. By Mojang doing this it means they do not think the server owners can handle this on their own. And what if on a server, someone was advertising a stream they were doing on that server in all caps, and someone else who didn't like the streamer decided to advertise, and reported them. Or what about servers where people are fine with cursing, but again, one person decides they're going to report everyone they don't like. In concept it's a good idea, but the more you dig into it it just seems that they think server and realms owners are incompetent.
They’re also known for having “prank wars” of some type each season.
How bad will they have to sanitize their chat speak to not get banned?
Also, what would happen with the proximity chat mod?
Microsoft I’m going to write a paper letter to them complaining about this and not putting an account name on it or real name and demanding them to make Minecraft an enjoyable game for evryone and to not make this a thing
You can also use tlauncher and non-licenced account
You can't play official servers like hypixel or something, but you can type "boobies" in chat in your lan world
I checked tlauncher installer via virustotal and it didn't find any viruses in it so I don't think that it is spyware
BUT tlauncher may steal your official account if you try to log in tlauncher with it. So don't do that.
I've been using tl, even though it's not the first time I hear about it stealing accounts, so my plan is just uninstall it as soon as I get to buy a license
There are more than one free launcher
For example I can recommend TL launcher (Not tlauncher, they have very similar names) I tried to log in to my official account in it and nobody stole it
What we need is Notch to come back to Mojang pls contact him and tell him that Minecraft needs him. Comment the same thing as me at any social media u have. Try to contact Notch!!
Big Mojang is watching you!
Goldstein disapproves of this.
You probably are working with Eurasia smh
Actually Microsoft
micro-soft penis
Does that work like tyres in motorsports. The softer ones provide more grip but wear out quickly?
Micro(soft) penis
Removing the soft is also accurate af
Micro$oft
More civilized folk call it big Mojang
macrohard
What being owned by Microsoft does to a mf
Tbh minecraft was fine until now, and the communities fears from years ago are back. Microtransactions? Check. Crappy report system? Check.
Minecraft is tur into roblox moderation!!!
imagine bruh I hope that’s not the future of mojang
sameeee!!!!!!!!!
imagine getting banned from multiplayer for saying "heck"
next will be the bullshit chat censor
Micro transactions are only for meaningless cosmetics and world maps on Bedrock. It’s not like you need to pay extra for “surprise mechanics” so that you can beat the Ender Dragon.
Don't be like this. You can't make exceptions for this sort of thing.
What do you mean "don't be like this"
I assume they mean don't defend the microtransactions, at all
I know they mean that but the microtransactions don't affect you at all other than putting a extra button on your home screen, which is why I wanted to see what reasoning was
probably because you shouldn't defend microtransactions at all, that's my assumption

This creeps me out a bit Oh shi- *You have been banned from making a Microsoft account*
For you guys out there who want realm capabilities, Hypixel SMP is where it's at. Half the price, pay once, keep it forever.
Or use Essentials mod.
This. Plus they have some pretty cool cosmetics ;)
Yeah like the yeti on the shoulder ;)
Mashclash shamelessly advertising!!1!11!1!
aternos is free
Aternos is really laggy specially on the versions 1.16+. I suggest self hosting if one of your friends have a decent CPU, ethernet connection, and a good amount of ram. i don’t run direct minecraft, i use paper mc and optimize so that there’s minimal to no lag. have never experienced any significant lag on my server.
Aternos alternative: PloudOS. pretty decent i'd say edit: Minehut exists too
Minehut is good for... Growing a community? Yes. Stability? Eh... Source: I own and pay $10 a month for a minehut server. or Aternos, none of the price and it work decently well
Mojang has left moderating up to their community for 12 years, and not a soul has complained about it. Why change it.
Because Microsoft
Well, [some Karen did complain.](https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360018268092-Highly-Inappropriate-People-ruining-the-fun-for-kids-SERIOUS-)

what's that
Reference to the book by George Orwell "1984". (Mineteen-84 kinda sounds like 1984)
Aye, thank you!
Literally Mineteen-84
[удалено]
Theyre going to add it to java too, what did you think
Can't you turn it off on Java?
Im not sure, but java shouldnt be getting restrictions in the first place
yes
I won't play 1.19+ because if bans and no fullbright
>no fullbright what really?
The change so you can’t manually change your gamma in the config file, but mods and texture packs still work perfectly fine
so If I set my brightness to -4 to make it look cool i get banned?
For sure… . . . . . Not. It just sets back to the normal value.
Well thats not fun
You can use a vanilla tweaks pack to get resource pack based fullbright.
No
I won't play 1.18+ bc bad pc goes boom
i won't play 1.18+ java edition because no pc
i won't play 1.18+ java edition because no electricity
I won't play 1.18+ java edition because i dont feel like playing minecraft
I won’t play 1.18+ Java edition because I am caveman Unga bunga
But caveman play cave game.
same
Bruh, RIP to all papers once again. They really like killing their game

Ok that is actually pretty fair. I think there needs to be a tl;dr on the issue too, but I kinda feel like it is too late to comment one by now.
Because if someone decides to sue mojang, and realizes that mojang knew about illegal activity happening in Minecraft servers, and decided to not to do anything about it, they have a strong case for negligence. This is mojang’s plan to prevent that from happening in the first place.

I think it's 1.19.1 that implements this, so if you're on anything older then that you should be fine
No, you can still get banned on older versions just that you will never see a ban screen and you will see your account act like a cracked one
reject 1.19, return to 1.12.2 or 1.8.9
Two great versions, although I would recommend one extra version, 1.16.5
1.16.5 is the last good NEW Minecraft update, 1.12.2 is the last Minecraft update
1.12.2 was the first version i played after just watching youtube vids since late 2013
Corporate hell for 2023?
Oh no no no no....
use the mod No Chat Reports if you plan on playing 1.19!! https://modrinth.com/mod/no-chat-reports
heres the curseforge version [https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/no-chat-reports](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/no-chat-reports)
Could you create a world that is a previous version in the launcher and not have this problem?
Yes playing in older versions than 1.19.1 don’t have the reporting systems and stuff like that
this will be the next roblox
Why are they doing this? Leave it to the server owners. It's been just fine for like a decade. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Karen "Fun Police" butt hurt that she was too lazy to monitor her little Johnny and he saw a bad word.
Me still playing on 1.16.1 (speedrunner mode)
me on 1.12.2 until just this year
Legend
What sort of stuff do they ban you over? What shit does one have to say to be banned from Minecraft?
They linked this article in the latest patch notes https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/community-standards
It’s so intentionally vague that it basically allows MS to ban you for any reason.
litterally caps. the amount of times i missclick caps lock
basically just slurs
Civil war?
yes
Now you can get permanently banned across all minecraft multiplayer for making an edgy joke, swearing, or having different political opinions than some people. RIP anarchy servers..
RIP any faction server ever made tbh
SPREAD THIS
Literally 1.19.84 (not my joke)
This is a blatant breach of privacy. BTW I already do 2.
2b2t players when a 9 year old logs on:
Only thing I actually think is fair is moderating Realms servers. They're run on Mojang's infrastructure, so "their house, their rules" so to speak. But yeah any servers run by individuals or independent hosting companies shouldn't be controlled by Mojang at all.
"Our demands" Lmfao. Good luck with that.
This is so dumb, we pay for the godamn game, they have no right to BAN us.
You still have to sign the TOS if you want to play on their servers
what, I have to follow rules? But I PAID MONEY! /s
Im playing still 1.18.2 because its the neweste optifine version haha
Mmm. Smells like 1984
no first the trashy update and now this i think this might just be the downfall of Minecraft
Yeah Minecraft has become a massive money grabbing scam.
If adolf hitler owned minecraft:
Don’t update to 1.19.1, got it (I only play on 1.12.2, 1.8.9, 1.6.4, Indev, survivaltest, and Classic)
average modpack enjoyer
That’s not the only reason why. 1.18 with Sodium and minimum settings runs at 15 FPS (I got a dual core i5)
Used to be able to run 1.12 on my laptop with ~ 20 chunks render distance, no mods, and now in 1.19 i cant get over 30fps with 4 render distance, lowest settings and sodium. Can the next update just be a big performance boost
My computer can run the newer versions at +300fps, but I also want a big performance boost as an update. One word: shaders. Both strong and weak PC users want a performance boost
oh that sounds really strange, have you tried other optimization mods alongside it? (like the fabulously optimized pack that's purely for optimizing)
Yup. All optimization mods I’ve tried (optifine, the whole sodium bundle, etc) are barely playable I don’t think it’s that strange, as I have a dual core 2.4GHz i5, 8GB ram, and 1.5GB Intel Iris graphics) I have essentially one of the worst macs for gaming (late 2013 retina MBP) (it’s too old to run new games, and it’s too new for old games to correctly support its hardware).
Have you tried allocating more ram to minecraft? It's 2gb by default. That means if you don't allocate more it will never use more than 2gb
another i5 brother
chad Indev and Classic enjoyer
And survivaltest.
Bedrock on my phone is still on 1.19.0 and for the forseeable future I intend to keep it that way
mojang doesnt have access to chat logs, they can only see what players report to them, and you can only be banned for being reported enough times by other players, not automatically by some bot. unless someone makes a bot that automatically does that
> they can only see what players report to them well then they have access to chat logs?
Mojang doesn't have access to "ALL" your chat logs, which is what OP claimed. Just the messages that have been submitted.
yes, but only specific parts
Bro can't connect the dots
Which implies they already have access to these chat logs…
You can make a bot that not only auto reports people but can also do it under an alias. Its one of the easiest types of bots to program.
The people in TF2 community really loved ruinining the game for others....
Nah. I mainly play alone, or I don’t talk. Use Discord.
Are they bringing this to java and java servers?
Yes
no please... don't make me lose hope :(
Well shit I already updated. But I don’t have realms 😎
On one hand, yeah mojang really fucked this up, on the other hand demands really
Be careful dude, you wrote the text in red, all in caps, you will get banned!
This is only mildly related to the post, but is it really unprecedented for players to be banned from minecraft? Like, has mojang really never taken action against a player for some reason or another until now?
No, and why would they need to? This isnt roblox
It’s always been up to moderators and admins on individual servers to ban players
The downfall has begun
yep mirco$oft won't care they just milk a game till it dies
Imo, this was probably done because minecraft servers *could* be used as unmonitored chat rooms, so Microsoft is just doing this to limit their potential liabilities and to comply with dictatorial surveilance state policies. even hermits wont be happy about this as they do swear in private
They’re also known for having “prank wars” of some type each season. How bad will they have to sanitize their chat speak to not get banned? Also, what would happen with the proximity chat mod?
WE NEED MORE ATTENTION TO THIS
that's true fuck universal bans
Microsoft I’m going to write a paper letter to them complaining about this and not putting an account name on it or real name and demanding them to make Minecraft an enjoyable game for evryone and to not make this a thing
Make it a petition
You can also use tlauncher and non-licenced account You can't play official servers like hypixel or something, but you can type "boobies" in chat in your lan world
if you have licensed account you can use MultiMC’s offline mode
Oh thanks I didn't know about that method
Isn't tlauncher a spyware? I don't even know anymore at this point
I checked tlauncher installer via virustotal and it didn't find any viruses in it so I don't think that it is spyware BUT tlauncher may steal your official account if you try to log in tlauncher with it. So don't do that.
So, if I don't have official account at all, Tlauncher would be safe for me?
I guess? I used tlauncher for quite some time, nothing happened, but I still unistalled 'cause I felt anxious due to its controversy.
I've been using tl, even though it's not the first time I hear about it stealing accounts, so my plan is just uninstall it as soon as I get to buy a license
I think it was just stealing data in general and just accounts atleast from what I've heard.
Oh, I need another free launcher then
There are more than one free launcher For example I can recommend TL launcher (Not tlauncher, they have very similar names) I tried to log in to my official account in it and nobody stole it
If you don't log in to your account in Tlauncher you will be safe. So yes, if you don't have official account at all you will be safe
YES! FIGHT! They just keep making mistakes… mojang, truly, and i cant believe we got to this point, fell off.
Agree
> microsoft kinda cringe ngl Stop using Windows.
I'm trying but I get so many errors for everything with Linux lol
