“In Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livanalli.”
i like that angela bassett is listed first
As she should
This doesn’t mean much. Letitia Wright still has top billing, and Angela Bassett has the ‘and’ credit.
doesn’t the “and” credit technically mean top billing?
I think people like Samuel Jackson always have it that way per contract. It wouldn't mean he's top billing of an iron man or avengers film.
ah that makes sense.
It’s not top billing but it’s kind of a way to acknowledge their star power or notoriety. That goes for both “with” + “and”.
Best example i can think of would be Community. Joel McHale got top billing while Ken Jeong got the “with” credit and Chevy Chase got a good ole “and”
I know it's not happening but it would've been totally dope if she became the new Black Panther. A successor who's older than the original would be a cool twist.
I don't think this is new. I swear I've seen this before.
It only appeared last night cause I’ve been refreshing for tickets (thankfully October 3rd)
The synopsis is not new. It's been on the Marvel.com article about the SDCC teaser trailer and poster reveal since [July 24](https://web.archive.org/web/20220724160218/https://www.marvel.com/articles/movies/sdcc-2022-marvel-studios-black-panther-wakanda-forever-teaser-trailer-and-poster-released).
Same, when I looked up the film earlier this month I saw a description that looked exactly like that
I'm surprised that we still don't know who is playing Doom
I hope it stays that way, it’s rare nowadays to get a genuine surprise. Getting to experience that yesterday with the Hugh Jackson news was so exciting and refreshing.
If it's an A list actor then I really hope it's a surprise but I doubt it because the trades will spoil it at the day of the premiere which is on November 1 and the movie releases on November 11.
Didn’t the rumors said it would be a stand in and he would have no lines? Kinda like Thanos in The Avengers. If that’s not the case, I’m pretty sure we will find out once we get closer to the movie, the same way we found out about Brett Goldstein as Hercules a few weeks before the release of Thor: Love and Thunder.
The Weekly Planet podcast said the actor has been casted. Their track record is also hit and miss(50/50).
Those were the initial rumours but then we started hearing that they *have* in fact cast an actor for Doom and aren't using a stand-in.
It’s probably going to be Ryan Gosling
I absolutely love Gosling and want him to have a substantial role in the MCU, but casting him as Doom would be an absolutely atrocious choice
It's a weird choice but not atrocious. Dude has range.
I think he'd be a great Johnny Blaze
It’s not that he doesn’t have range. I just think his voice doesn’t work for the role, which is the most important part for a character like Doom.
Fair enough. I think it'd be unique though. Like we expect a low Darth Vaderish voice, but out comes Gosling's voice. Kinda like what Hardy did with Bane lol
Hardy’s bane voice wasn’t threatening tho, it was laughable, it became a meme
I liked that it wasn't a Darth Vader copy. I thought it was goofy at first but it really grew on me.
I think the memes were poking more fun at the dialogue.
"You're a big guy."
“MoOoOlded by ehtt”
“Doyou fee in CHAAHGE?”
Do u pheel in charghe?
It's 50/50 imo. All IK is that they've casted an actor around the age of 40-60 for Doom(Source GWW).
I really want Cillian Murphy.
I can imagine it be like how they film some post credits, at the last minute possibly after the world premiere to keep it that much of a surprise, I'm we're talking about DOOM.
I've missed out on this, is he rumoured to be in this?
Post credit scene
Imagine if this is another “Fantastic 4 cast to be revealed at D23” situation 😭😂
Was that confirmed or rumored? If its a rumor then i dont see him in this.
I bet the actor will get leaked sometime in October or maybe in early November if Doom's actual actor is playing him in the movie and not a stand-in. Granted, a newcomer would be easier to hide than an A-list but I feel like that's still something that could possibly leak out. The concept art in HD did leak after all too.
I know this is completely off-topic but aren't there usually weekly discussion threads on Wednesdays? The most recent one is from Monday and it's annoying having to keep scrolling down to open it.
AFAIK The discussion threads are posted on Monday and Friday
I thought it was Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but I'm probably wrong.
Edit: Yeh, it looks like I got it mixed up. It's only on Mondays and Fridays. Oh well.
No there a only two threads. 1st one is on Monday and the 2nd one is on Friday
Yeh, I just realised that.
Also, if you sort by 'hot' then the weekly discussion thread is pinned at the top. I always sort by 'new' so I had no idea until just now.
I think they should have a character say the Kanye story instagram story thing but only the UK release
"London, I know how you feel. We lost our sovereign too!"
If I'm not mistaken, isn't Lake Bell in this? I find it interesting that she's NEVER listed in these.
I feel like there’s something going on with her character that’s bigger than we think.
It was tied to Doom if I remember correctly. It's not revealed in the film itself as they make it seem like she's a shadow government agent from the US but it turns out she was working for Doom.
Yeah I think you’re right. I think Doom wants vibranium and was acting through her to get it. Or she facilitated the war between Atlantis and Wakanda on his behalf
Yeah a rumor I saw is that her character will first appear as a scientist who's a mentor for Riri but will turn out to actually be Lucia Von Bardas who's doing dirty work for Doom
Pretty sure it was leaked a while ago that she’s Lucia Von Bardas undercover.
I want some great action scenes in this one. I really enjoyed the first BP, but the fights were either super shaky in the dark or hyper cgi-reliant
I disagree. I thought that both fights at the water fall were really good and the car chase was really well done. I do agree that the final battle wasn't great.
A lot of people have become victims of a poor end fight clouding their vision on the rest of the fight scenes in the film.
The waterfall fights were a couple of the most visceral fights in the MCU.
I agree. The final fight looked like a video game.
Adding the kinetic energy blasts or whatever to T’Challa’s suit was such a major downgrade. It did not suit his fighting style at all and took so much away from the awesome hand to hand work he had in Civil War
Not to mention the civil war suit looked incredible. IMO he got the iron man treatment where he lost cool looking suits that made him look like a complete unit and made his suits more tech-based and cgi heavy which makes them kinda look worse.
Agreed. I wish the nanotech suit was just meant for emergency situations where he can’t just walk around in the suit, similar to the briefcase suit in Iron Man 2. Like a less powerful, but portable option. Not something he uses all the time
All the people keep saying “how do we not know who Doom is yet” when in reality it’s probably a stand-in.
