You could use the back peg in the open hand, like have him hold it that way. You might loose some amount of posing options but still will look good.

They really need to change the design for those shields already. Once again they need to look at what classifieds is doong which has actual arm straps for the Alley Viper shields.

Same thing here. Used a zip tie and that shield isn't going anywhere.
