Mine was MegaBlueMario, SuperMarioRichie, and EpicMarioBros… only SuperMarioRichie is still active tho, and MegaBlueMario is now known as StarHead, and he makes mario 64 shorts…
One of the first YouTube channels I watched. It was so funny Toad getting beat up. Since I just started playing Mario during that time, that was my perception of Toad for a while.
I was never a huge fan but it had it's funny moments. I loved the Doofy the Dragon segments the most. But everything went downhill when HE WHO SHALL NOT ME NAMED joined the show.
I never watched those YouTube channels or animations (although I did watch a different plush channel) but other than that this is essentially what my childhood was like.
I remember there being a “I need a hero” music video for this internet series but it must’ve been deleted but it’s cemented in my mind to this day. What a series 😂
Wow god damn there it is, two thousand views?? That’s crazy considering haha. Weird to think I contributed to one of those views 13 years ago. Thank you for finding that video, deffo scratched the itch I had in my brain for a longtime!
Didn’t have the bedsheets but I *did* have a massive Mario figure and plush collection. Think I was aiming for getting literally any Mario character I could find lol. Also wanted to get anything I saw in those old-school Mario plush skit videos.
Pretty much any character from the Wii era games. Galaxy was big at that time so they released some figure lines I snapped up. A lot of TOMY and Popco stuff!
The main cast in the platformers I had tons of, but also many characters playable in spin-offs: koopas, dry bones, boos, magikoopas, toads, goombas, babies, even some kongs, and many more. Chances are, if they were in Mario Kart Wii or Super Sluggers, I had merch of them!
I was a teenager in the 2000s so didn't have any Mario bedsheets or watch the YouTube Channels. I did own the games listed and both systems (Which I still own) though and child me did have Super Mario Pyjamas.
There’s a html 5 version of the game. It’s still on the web if you want to play it! also if you want to play Flash games again then I would highly suggest you download “Blue Maxima Flashpoint”, it’s a archive of a huge amount of flash games from back in the day! You can still play them now if you download it!
Owned all of those systems except the GameCube.
Did not have a Mario-themed bed.
Don’t watch either of those channels, but I do watch SMG4.
Owned all of those games.
Didn’t play any of those fan games, but I did play others like Mario Forever.
Watched a boatload of sprite movies.
Aside from the bedsheets this is accurate, I remember goin back and watching Power Star and Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom on Newgrounds all the time back then, also got to play NSMB during a doctor’s appointment once so I could calm down my nerves lol
Did not watch the sprite animation, or have those bed sheets, and never even heard of those YT channels. I did play Super Mario Crossover on like Newgrounds or wherever it was😂
Let's see here
. I owned a wii and ds
. I watched sprite animations
. I watched plush channels
. I don't think I had a mario theme bed but it seems possible
. I don't remember whether I played flash games or not
. I did own NSMB and MKWii but I didn't own super mario galaxy I skipped it and bought galaxy 2 instead
For Me:
- Consoles owned: Wii and DS
- Channels watched: Mario 64 Machimas (MarioMario54321, TMKC)
- Sprite animation: Super Mario Bros. Z
- Played every flash game mentioned in the post
Perfectly described me, Wii, Mario and Luigi bed sheets, loved SML, had Galaxy 1 and 2, Kart, NSMB Wii and Super Paper Mario, watched all the dorkly Mario videos as well as Nicobbq and Dr Wily on YT, and those 3 flash games are all of the ones I played plus Koopas Revenge. Man I wish I could go back
Thanks, OP, very clever. This mostly accounts for me.
A flash game I remember playing was actually called Super Mario 65, lol. It was a side-scrolling game, I believe, where the castle’s field was a hellscape desolated by Bowser. Mario had FLUDD too.
Never had Mario Kart Wii as a kid but that's mostly because I played it somewhere else and didn't know about the tilt controls so I was wondering why I wasn't going where I should have and decided right there and then that Mario Kart Wii was the worst game ever made and I never cared about watching videos of it online so I convinced myself that it was one of the worst in the series for years.
That is very accurate, I also watched dvds of the old DIC Mario cartoons as well. Mario was also the reason I got introduced to YTPs. Who remembers an old plush video called Mario and Luigi goes to Burger King?
Honestly super accurate for me (I had all the consoles) except the bedsheets and owning Mario galaxy as I borrowed it from thr library as a kid and died in the electric part and the Mario became a skeleton when he died and I got scared and didn’t play again for like a decade…
I watched the blooper sprite animations as a child. It was hilarious when Homer's voice would come out of Mario when he stabbed his "Chain Chomps" on the flag pole. Unfortunately, I can't find the video anymore.
One for the niche, but spending all the money you had exchanging coins to collect the Tomy and Gacha capsules whether it was keychains, or stickers. My days were spent walking 20 minutes to the store and not even entering it, just spending the 5$ I got cleaning my uncle's car on the new Mario Keychains. Those were the days..
If i had a penny for every time i played the mario game on friv.com id buy out nintendo and make a good online service. Then buy out sega to release the yakuza games on switch.
Now what do i do with the remaining trillion dollars...
Owned the Wii, watched cute Mario bros first at 6 or 7 and discovered SML I think when I was 9 however, all I played was Pokémon emulators on the computer.
Anyone remember the “cooking with chef mario” plush vids by SuperMario134??? That, along with “Super Mario Bros: Bowser’s Revenge” by Talha Aamir and “bowsers mushroom factory” by Goomzilla are the og mario plush vids…

Very accurate, aside from the bedsheets and plush channels for me.
Same. I was a teen back during the 00s, I imagine if I was younger I'd probably have begged my parents for those sheets haha.
Same
Very accurate except for bed sheets and plush channels for me.
Same
For me it was Bowser Power and That Mario Guy
I love BowserPower! He recently rebooted his channel but it’s not the same :(
Mine was MegaBlueMario, SuperMarioRichie, and EpicMarioBros… only SuperMarioRichie is still active tho, and MegaBlueMario is now known as StarHead, and he makes mario 64 shorts…
Same here except i didnt do fan made games either
Remember when SML was actually enjoyable to watch?
I want a lolipop
Shut up Luigi, I'm bored!
Me too and I want a lolipop
**Groans**
lately I've been hearing a lot of SML and SMG complains, good thing my 2000's self avoided them lol
He tried to remake his old style with bowser’s plan and the return of mama luigi- too bad the modern day fans didnt like it
One of the first YouTube channels I watched.
Yup, that was me, except for the bedsheets.
Ah, It's Freakin' Mario. Jeremy Simms' flash animations were and still are a hoot to watch.
Super Mario 63 was the shit
I remember the file select theme https://youtu.be/4rF1azhAsS0
I never watched those YouTube channels or animations (although I did watch a different plush channel) but other than that this is essentially what my childhood was like.
Throw in mario creepy pastas and this was basically my entire childhood.
I'd count Super Mario Bros Z. Ik technically "sprite animations" but SMBZ is too good for that
I remember there being a “I need a hero” music video for this internet series but it must’ve been deleted but it’s cemented in my mind to this day. What a series 😂
https://youtu.be/CLTyCzg33QE Is it this one?
Wow god damn there it is, two thousand views?? That’s crazy considering haha. Weird to think I contributed to one of those views 13 years ago. Thank you for finding that video, deffo scratched the itch I had in my brain for a longtime!
Damn, I feel old.
mario 64 old? super mario old? or OLD old?
Yes.
Ah yes, that classic video game Super Mario.
Almost entirely accurate lol
Didn’t have the bedsheets but I *did* have a massive Mario figure and plush collection. Think I was aiming for getting literally any Mario character I could find lol. Also wanted to get anything I saw in those old-school Mario plush skit videos.
If you don't mind me asking, what did you have?
Pretty much any character from the Wii era games. Galaxy was big at that time so they released some figure lines I snapped up. A lot of TOMY and Popco stuff! The main cast in the platformers I had tons of, but also many characters playable in spin-offs: koopas, dry bones, boos, magikoopas, toads, goombas, babies, even some kongs, and many more. Same
Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom, anyone?
Classic
I was a teenager in the 2000s so didn't have any Mario bedsheets or watch the YouTube Channels. I did own the games listed and both systems (Which I still own) though and child me did have Super Mario Pyjamas.
Gamecube, Wii and DS I owned all 3 games plus Sunshine and Double Dash And I watched those sprite animations
*So I’m not the only one…* I remember sitting at the old laggy computer trying so hard to beat Mario Bros. Crossover all those years ago
Mario Crossover was fantastic, just wish flash wasn’t gone so I could play it.
There’s a html 5 version of the game. It’s still on the web if you want to play it! also if you want to play Flash games again then I would highly suggest you download “Blue Maxima Flashpoint”, it’s a archive of a huge amount of flash games from back in the day! Aside from the bedsheets this is accurate, I remember goin back and watching Power Star and Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom on Newgrounds all the time back then, also got to play NSMB during a doctor’s appointment once so I could calm down my nerves lol
this also qualifies as the early 2010s pack in my experience
All of this applies to me with the exception of the bedsheets.
That's a core memory unlocked
replace SML with SMG4
I did almost all of this except the bedsheet and the YouTube channels. my brother watched those, not me. I was always more interested in the games xD
I became a fan in 2012 and became obsessed in 2013-2015. I mostly played the 2000s games.
Did not watch the sprite animation, or have those bed sheets, and never even heard of those YT channels. I did play Super Mario Crossover on like Newgrounds or wherever it was😂
Let's see here . I owned a wii and ds . I watched sprite animations . I watched plush channels . I don't think I had a mario theme bed but it seems possible . I don't remember whether I played flash games or not . I did own NSMB and MKWii but I didn't own super mario galaxy I skipped it and bought galaxy 2 instead
And there's the part in the 2010s where you see Sonic and think "Oh hey that guy's cool", and then you see the death battle and now want him dead.
Superdentbros, goomzilla, Rip dent
Mario 63 was the GOAT tho
For Me: - Consoles owned: Wii and DS - Channels watched: Mario 64 Machimas (MarioMario54321, TMKC) - Sprite animation: Super Mario Bros. Z - Played every flash game mentioned in the post
I actually have that exact blanket and pillow covers... ...and I still use them
Wow take me back man
The only thing that doesn’t apply to me here is the bed. Other than that , it’s accurate
All except the bedsheets
bro you had to own at least a mario or luigi plush with the hat taken off so you can have them hatless lol
I fucking love Mario 63! Hence my username…
I had a white DS Lite, and I played a lot of NSMBDS and MKDS
If you grew in the 2000's and looked up for Mario on YouTube. ***YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT SUPER MARIO BROS Z***
Man I wish I could go back
Me, but I watched SMG4 actually Also no blanket :(
I still watch SML today.
Thanks, OP, very clever. This mostly accounts for me. A flash game I remember playing was actually called Super Mario 65, lol. It was a side-scrolling game, I believe, where the castle’s field was a hellscape desolated by Bowser. Mario had FLUDD too.
Wasn't it super mario 63? At least in 63 he also had FLUDD
ALL TRUE DID THEM ALL BUT YOU DIDNT ADD THE POPCO FIGURES AND FAST FOOD TOYS
Never had Mario Kart Wii as a kid but that's mostly because I played it somewhere else and didn't know about the tilt controls so I was wondering why I wasn't going where I should have and decided right there and then that Mario Kart Wii was the worst game ever made and I never cared about watching videos of it online so I convinced myself that it was one of the worst in the series for years.
Damn my childhood
I had the same bed
I literally did all of this except have the Mario bedsheets. I had all those consoles too btw
What the fuck this is accurate How'd you get in my house
Hey! That’s me!
Man oh man, don’t forget the Sanei LB plushies!
Yep, pretty much me in spades.
If you merged this Mario starterpack with "growing up with Sonic as a 2000s kid" that sums my childhood lol.
You forgot the ~~best~~ worst Mario flash game! Unfair Mario
You know I watched the castle calamity growing up. Might do it again.
i had those exact bedsheets for the first 12 years of my life lmao
I watched the blooper sprite animations as a child. It was hilarious when Homer's voice would come out of Mario when he stabbed his "Chain Chomps" on the flag pole. Unfortunately, I can't find the video anymore.
Shit, am I a fake fan? Literally only owned the Wii, DS and the games, but none of the others
Stop making me feel old
One for the niche, but spending all the money you had exchanging coins to collect the Tomy and Gacha capsules whether it was keychains, or stickers. My days were spent walking 20 minutes to the store and not even entering it, just spending the 5$ I got cleaning my uncle's car on the new Mario Keychains. Those were the days..
Where’s the cheapest coffin I could buy
I feel like the SP should have been given recognition. That handheld was special, bruh. They felt limited like you had to get them quick.
Scarily accurate.
If you had a ds you probably had at least 6 of them
Awesome :) I was 9 in 2009 and although we didn't own the home consoles that was when I started being a Mario fan.
You're just kidding Mario RPG
This is me
I had and did all of these things as a little kid except the mario bed. (NSMB was my first Mario Game.)
Extremely accurate
Replace the YT channels with Goomzilla and this is accurate to me.
Almost all of this is me holy shit
This is me except the bed, the channels, only owned nsmb ds, and the Mario sprite animations.
Almost all of them are true for me, just the sheets and the channels because I didn't really want YT
OMG YES, that was me when I was a kid!
Anyone remember the “cooking with chef mario” plush vids by SuperMario134??? That, along with “Super Mario Bros: Bowser’s Revenge” by Talha Aamir and “bowsers mushroom factory” by Goomzilla are the og mario plush vids… Links: https://youtu.be/f6hZv5r5aDc https://youtu.be/ovOc6qo3X5Q https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTx0xhx7Pysxj4rzohdNd9C4aBaBP-8yp
I had an extremely laggy computer so I complete Mario 63 in slow motion. The extra reaction time helped.
I’m glad to be in the 90s camp if this is really the 2000s starter pack
Ok Old Man👍
I miss CMB... they're like weird and sorta cringey now
u forgot ''being quite extremely into MCU and eugenics''
