The 2022 Caps have been cursed for their 2021 run.
Look at our injury list to see why.
We've not been great. But this explains some of it.
Also, next Wednesday might suck...like real bad.
The rise of the new Tim Melia
Sometimes there is a diamond hiding amongst pool keepers
Except there are no pool keepers anymore...
There was last year. You have a link to some info?
I recall reading that they were ending it as of this season. I can't find a link though. For what it's worth, Wikipedia has 2021 but not 2022.
I found this reliable source https://reddit.com/r/MLS/comments/uu4hzh/_/i9d4wx0/?context=1
I played GK once in recess and gave up less then the other keeper on my team (wall we used was pretty wide) so I'm expecting a call.
Somewhere, fly-fishing in solitude, years and miles away from his suit and cape, Mike Magee senses someone in need...
Canadian man in a black suit and sunglasses, stepping out of a helicopter: "You're not an easy man to find, eh?"
Magee (in silhouette): "I told you I'm out. I don't play the game anymore."
There's a goalie pool for exactly this purpose right?
The GK pool no longer exists as of this season, so no.
That seems like a strange decision, best of luck
What’s the most likely outcome then? Sign someone off the street? Maybe a outfield player at GK?
They're probably gonna loan someone from CPL or USL.
Carducci from Calgary
Calgary is one of the games we need a 'keeper for, so I have a feeling that won't happen.
Pull a sneaky on em
That's what the Timbers did last year, but I think we had more time before the game than y'all do?
MLS needs EBUGs like NHL.
Call up a keeper from the second team if they have a roster spot, otherwise I would think the would have to play a field player.
Don't need the roster spot if you have less than two keepers available - you get a hardship exemption.
Ah good to know. Would they get two exemptions so they can have a backup available?
AFIK no, you just get to use the one exemption again if your first one gets injured out.
If it happens mid-game, you're fielding a guy of the bench.
You can sign as many hardship players you need to fill out you roster. Subject to them being eligible to be a hardship signing
Yes. You can sign as many hardship players as you need to reach the threshold (2 GKs, 16 outfield players)
Alex Roldan isn’t busy this weekend
It still is outside of the transfer window isn't it? Unless a player is out of contact how is a loan possible?
Emergency exceptions exist
For fifa do they other than players out of contract?
Not sure if it is still a thing but single game loans and trades and next day trade backs are a thing. Klopas tried to get Sean Johnson to play a concacaf CL game for Montreal using this trick. The fire balked but the roster quirk was a real thing.
And he’ll play the game of his life.
How? teams have reserves and academies. If you dont have an option to be promoted from the reserves then thats a problem
Oh wow, I didn't know that.
Any idea why?
Do you have a link to some info there? Seems like a strange move, and most of us weren't aware of it.
Holy shit that's crazy. So sorry bud.
yes, if you're going to completely run out of players in this league keeper is a good position to do it at
And this time they can actually use it, unlike at MLS is Back
Fuck it I’ll play
I'll back this person up.
So we might be able to score?
Nah I've been here before as a Charlotte sports fan, some "no-name" player is about to have a career night against us. Seen it too many times to believe. /s
At this rate you'll probably demolish us....this is embarrassing
So... is there still a "pool goalkeeper" or do they need to sign someone off the street or bring a kid on a loan from the youth team?
Always feel like Toisant Ricketts could play a mean Sweeper Keeper... maybe because of the last name? Legend...
There was a pool keeper last year, I can't imagine they did away with it
Narrator: They did away with it
Tell one of them to channel their inner Mike Magee, and get it done.

You all are speaking the language of the ancient MLS gods
Yeah sounds about right!
They have Evan Newton out on loan to El Paso Locomotive. It's possible they recall him. He's solid.
Wish you had an Alex roldan on your team don’t you
He would be suspended anyway lmao
He's suspended for the Sounders, shave his head and have vfc sign him for the day. League will never know...
"Hello, my name is Rolex Aldan, pleasure to meet you"
Shh they don’t need to know that. They have enough to deal with right now
Alex Roldan is available this weekend. Slap a fake moustache and sign him for one day under a fake name. He has never allowed a goal as a keeper.
Axel Dorlan, checking in!
Don’t use that first name. Guys named Axel are frequently late.
You guys want Knighton or Earl Edwards Jr? Free, local pick-up only.
Pickup only? I'll drive Kenny Vermeer to Vancouver myself.
It's Canada, so [bring in the zamboni driver.](https://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2020/2/24/21150841/carolina-hurricanes-emergency-goaltender-zamboni-driver-david-ayres)
if I'm willing to pay for my ticket to charlotte, can I play?
You guys can have Vermeer…no give-backs
I volunteer. I've played goalkeeper since who knows how young. And in multiple sports...name a sport that requires a goalkeeper, I've likely done it.
Ok, so that one is a no.
Time to see just how good Brian White actually is
it would be very chill indeed...
It would be impressive if someone off the street is able to shut out Charlotte, unlike ATL this year! Very chill.
touche'.... we can't all score Olympicos!
Would be better than Guzan managed against us….
Right? Tough crowd in here.
Did Cody Cropper really classify as a goalkeeper?
He's undefeated with Vancouver, so sure, works for us.
Played at a higher level than most in MLS.
Sign Dylon Powley you cowards!
.... he's retired
Sign a teenager under Extreme Hardship. We did that and beat Austin with 5 of em.
As a Sounders fan, i can't help but laugh. Sorry. Not really though. Lol.
so, what now?
Do they have an MLS Next team that they can loan someone from?
Almost feeling like we should send you Edwards Jr. for a bit since you basically gave us Lee Nguyen.
We’ve not been great this year (last 4 games aside) but our luck with injuries etc has been phenomenally bad. At any given point we’ve had our best keeper (Hasal), our best defender (Godoy) and our two best midfielders (Gauld and Alexandre) out. Alexandre actually was training after a long term injury and broke his hand lmao.
We’ve also been without our new dp midfielder because getting Canadian and us work permits takes forever.
I can confidently say this team hasn’t played with their best 11 in 3 seasons.
Something similar happened in 2020 as well during the MLS is back tournament right?
Has not the MLS still have it's goalkeeper pool? It harkens back to the day when MLS has no "II" USL or other affiliated team and the roster of a MLS team carried no more than 2 slots and virtually every team had to use it.
[York United](https://twitter.com/tombogert/status/1528018523141902338?s=21&t=6unskAQBT5enKg3co_ug1w) with a huge save lol
In the NHL, the 3rd goalie is typically a local amateur that can sub for either team should both goalies get injured.
Back in 2018, amateur Scott Foster subbed for the Blackhawks and made 7 saves.
I didn't realise the COVID protocols were still in place in the MLS.
Other leagues have already scrapped this.
