I seriously hate how extra time is down to the ref's discretion. If a ref adds 3 minutes of extra time, but a team decides to make numerous subs, and has injuries to kill the clock, well the ref can continue to add time to compensate, or the ref can just blow right at 3 minutes regardless if any soccer was played in those minutes.
Both situations are a totally fine action by the ref which is a problem. There should be a clear guide on how to act with time wasting tactics in ET.
>sign promising young 20+ goal scorer from Europe
>never give him a fair chance
>continue to start Cabral in lieu with his staggering 0g/0a
>proceed to start dropping points
>Vanney ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
I imagine most home fans boo there. That situation is almost always time wasting or just a cramp in soccer. Obviously when I'm watching on my laptop I can see he's most likely actually hurt but to 99% of the fans there it looks like he's just trying to waste time.
We've been dangerous but not lethal, in control but not dominant. Most of the shots we have put on frame have been mediocre, but also Bond is doing Bond things. Rey and Bond are both playing very well.
**Official WTF CABRAL counter**:
10-11' - Costa and Cabral continue to occupy the same space ☹️
12' - Cabrals run cuts inside the CB into Costas space ☹️
14' - Ball over the top into space for Cabral to run onto - it was a poor ball - but those are the runs he SHOULD he making, IMO😐
16' - Slicing ball from Raveloson to Cabral - heavy **pass by Raveloson to the keeper - a decent run by Cabral😐
18' - Cabral tracks the Minnesota winger as a body to the corner flag - but was slow to defend and allows a header opportunity. I'll give it a half mark, but appreciate the defensive presence 🙃
19' - Give and Go with Araujo - not returned. 😐
21' - Defensive presence to assist Araujo with open-field defending 😊
22' - 50/50 ball lost header ☹️
23' - RAZZLE DAZZLE TO PUT A DEFENDER ON HIS ASS - however, he did not receive the ball from Araujo on the initial buildup because he ran directly behind the defender 😀
24' - He may have danced himself off the dance floor - man down. EDIT: Our tiny dancer is back up - replay shows he pulled up the landing gear and hurt himself. 😐
26' - Turnover on a defensive action leading to a free kick for Minnesota. ☹️
29' - Passes from the back to begin the distribution - proceeds to turnover in the midfield attempting to dribble and fouls the defender. Minnesota earns a restart. ☹️
30' - Open field foul by pulling down the attacker - Minnesota earns a free kick. ☹️
33' - Cabral and Delgado miscommunicate - Cabral loses the ball from behind and gets bailed out by a foul that Cabral committed - Kings Cobi and Joe agree ☹️
36' - Cabral makes a run towards the corner flag - becomes part of the linkup play, the ball is not returned to his side of the field 😐
37' - Cabral is the final defender in the box - he corrals towards Araujo but does not contribute physically. 🙃
39' - Throughball behind the defense for Cabral to run onto is a little too long, but Cabral does challenge physically 😊
40' - Cabral included in buildup - pass is backwards to the RB to reset the play 😐
41' - Allows the ball to dummy through - turnover. 😐
**1st HALF TOUCH COUNT: 7.5**
**TOUCHES LOST: 5.5**
- Araujo to Cabral on a give and go that was not returned
- open field dancing - taking lessons from Costa
- ball lost in the open field to a defender
- Initiates buildup from the back - loses the ball midfield and earns a foul.
- Cabral miscommunicates with Delgado and is tackled from behind
- Cabral plays linkup during a buildup
- Cabral is part of the buildup - pass is backwards to RB
**FIRST HALF THOUGHTS** - If you're going to make your DP the focal point of the offense, there should not be as many buildup breakdowns as there have been.
I have to wonder if the increase in defensive activity is to have Cabral initiate a turnover and become the catalyst for a counterattack - effectively taking him out of the offensive buildup.
He's also got iron lungs - he's probably covered the most ground ((with relatively neutral/negative effect)) of anybody in the first half.
**SECOND HALF LFGWTFBBQ**
46' - Cabral receives in the buildup - passes backwards. 😐
48' - Cabral receives in the buildup - plays through to a streaking Kljestan 😊
49' - Cabral receives in the buildup - passes to nobody ((Chicha the closest Galaxy player)) ☹️
52' - Cabral receives a short corner and returns to Costa - Costa crosses into the box 😐
55' - Cabral runs into Chichas space - Chicha checks back to receive the ball - uncertain if by design 🤷♂️
55' - Cabral backheels to nobody - turnover 😐
59' - Included in the buildup - passes backwards. Receives again - passes backwards. Receive a third time - outside to Costa. 😐
61' - Cabral physically runs into Delgado, losing the outside runner - runner shoots into Bonds hands. ☹️
61' - Cabral involved in the buildup - a forward pass 😊
63' - Cabral initiates the counterattack buildup ((confirming my 1st half thoughts)) - multiple forward linkup passes and positions as a target forward ((but does not receive service)) 😀
67' - Cabral draws a foul on Minnesota 🤷♂️
69' - Cabral considers taking the ball off Costas foot - Costa attempts a cross, Cabral runs behind the defender instead of attacking the ball 😐
70' - Cabral is subbed off. My watch has ended. 😊
**2ND HALF TOUCH COUNT: 11**
**TOUCHES LOST: 2**
- Cabral receives in the buildup - passes backwards
- Cabral finds Kljestan in buildup
- Cabral makes an errand pass to nobody
- Cabral receives a short corner and leaves for Costa
- Cabral backheels to nobody with his back to the goal - turnover
- Cabral involved in the buildup - passes backwards twice and to the line once.
- Cabral involved in the buildup - forward progress.
- Cabral initiates the counterattack with multiple forward progress linkup passes
**SECOND HALF THOUGHTS** - So what? I counted a total of two plays tonight where Cabral touched the ball in a single sequence more than twice - Cabral is worth nothing more than a warm body to bounce a ball off of and keep a play going.
He attempted two dribbles - one was successful, one was challenged and rewarded by a lucky bounce to a Galaxy player.
Cabrals starting spot is on the 2017 Galaxy. *Maybe* the 2018 - nothing more, nothing less.
☹️ = 9
😐 = 12
😊 = 4 + 1 substitution
- Two positive direction passes
- Two defensive efforts
😀 = 2
- One open field razzle dazzle
- One *excellent* counterattack initiation with multiple linkups and decent target striker positioning
🙃 = 2
🤷♂️ = 2
For as much as Cabral was involved and/or expected to contribute as an attacking/contributing option - this is quite unacceptable.
GG MN
Offense be damned. Jonathan Bond was easy my pick for player of the game.
How this game ended only 1-1 is beyond me.
LAG player goes down with a cramp... getting stretched out for a minute.... blows whistle right on the 5 added... I just think it's such horseshit...
Just adds to my 100% correct opinion that refs just fuggin wing it. They don’t even pay attention. Just whistle whenever they feel like it.
THANK YOU
YOURE WELCOME
GG LA - absolutely coulda gone either way
Still feels like we stole something. GG, Loons.
That was an ugly sequence
Ooooh Djoveljic - you can't talk about playtime and miss those ones, buddy.
Shoot the ball. The hell are you doing
There’s no excuse for giving that one up, but Minnesota should’ve had one or three by now so, like, fine.
Good.
THERE IT IS!
Ope!
Wait, putting it in the net is allowed?
Only for Lod apparently.
THANK. FUCKING. CHRIST.
Dejan: Maybe I should get more than 5 minutes Greg: How’s 4 plus stoppage?
He had to have slept with the coaches wife or sumn
>sign promising young 20+ goal scorer from Europe >never give him a fair chance >continue to start Cabral in lieu with his staggering 0g/0a >proceed to start dropping points >Vanney ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
Vanney isn’t free of blame here but I’m sure the front office has a little something to do with that
Is heckling during an injury sub “Minnesota Nice?”
From the stands it’s hard to tell the difference between a real injury and an *away team lays down for a while to nurse a one goal lead” injury.
I imagine most home fans boo there. That situation is almost always time wasting or just a cramp in soccer. Obviously when I'm watching on my laptop I can see he's most likely actually hurt but to 99% of the fans there it looks like he's just trying to waste time.
Every fan base has their share of shitheads. Ours just happen to be near the mics.
Pulled something fierce looked like, that's unfortunate, I've always liked Sacha
“Irritation and disappointment” man that’s our season in three words, Cal
Michael Boxall is a bastard man Edit: Oh fuck off whoever reported me as suicidal it was a handball joke
I’m happy, but that’s a bummer of a PK to give up. Sorry Loons.
I like you. GG Galaxy
GG!
Fuck yes Sacha.
#P A I N
Ball don’t lie
Spanish commentator: the ref didn’t see it b/c he was too far away—not in shape. Too many hamburgers! Lmaoo
God we are really missing out.
For fuck’s sake
They allowed play to go on for far too long for a clear and obvious hand ball
Played til the first stoppage, like they always do…
I’ve seen refs call it back without a dead ball.
Sure. It’s happened before, but it’s not all that common. It’s almost always on the stoppage.
Agreed, how did that take so long? It was one of the more obvious handball calls.
They’ve gotta wait for a dead ball to review.
It doesn’t get anymore clear than that
Easy pen
Looked like a handball to me
Easily a handball.
Fuck here comes a PK. Get big DSC.
Thats a handball lol
Easy handball
Ref’s having a laugh
We'll never forget you Gasper. Much love.
Seeing chase in LA colors 😢
We’ll take care of him. It’s super cool to see how much Minnesota fans like the guy.
It hurts the heart. Seemed like a guy that would stay here forever
So many give aways by Costa
That’s supposed to be a 2nd yellow. Wow.
Sacha and Vazquez in the midfield at the same time is real boom or bust move by Vanney
Galaxy will score a late goal like 89th minute and snag 3 points. This is the way it always goes for the loons in exciting, tense games.
83rd minute but damn was I close.
Ref left his white jersey in the car?? Not very sneaky
Wtf is the ref watching? This is a pathetic display.
Are there any neutrals that can talk me off a ledge? I am wearing black and blue lenses
Is this ref paid off...?
That was genuinely a “harder to miss than not” moment right there.
How do you miss that tap in?
No one wants to score a damn goal.
I'd argue we really want to, but Bond doesn't want us to more
That is one of the all time misses right there
This game should be about 7-4
LA Galaxy keepers love putting up all time performances against Minnesota
This is a crazy keeper match
I just…. How?
Unbelievable
My kingdom for a goal scorer
Great effort by the Loons here. Boxall and the dj Taylor tackle and build
Wow great save by Bond
I maintain that short corners are a wasting an opportunity
Chicha just got scared
Oh, that was legal, lol
I'm watching this "Live" on ESPN+ and it's just started, but aparently it's not live at all and the game is halfway through? What is happening🤣
Yea, it’s 49tu min
I felt good about the first 20 minutes of that. But it’s been all one way since then, and at this point we’re just relying on Minnesota’s misses.
You absolutely CAN count on that. Nobody misses more than the loons. High in the running for worst shooting team of all time.
Not a bad strategy tbh 🤣
You can continue to rely on our misses
We've been dangerous but not lethal, in control but not dominant. Most of the shots we have put on frame have been mediocre, but also Bond is doing Bond things. Rey and Bond are both playing very well.
The Bond Minnesota can’t break
God damn you, take my upvote
Our set pieces are pathetic
Fantastic buildup - traditional MNUFC finishing
Life is pain
Two soft yellows to MN.
This fucking team…
Edwards trying to clown MN and got done by Reynoso and then dropped on his face
I wouldn’t mess with Reynoso. That guy doesn’t mess around. El Pistolero
Man i really don’t rate MLS refs more than the average college student reffing youth and ref league games.
Cleats up, decently high tackle? Play on
Holy shit, Boxy. That seems unlike him.
Cabral sucks
Welcome to the club! Tuesdays we have pie and Friday is Salsa Night.
You should scroll down the the guy that is live feeding everything he does in the match. It’s magical.
Boxy swinging to chop down trees 🤣
Been watching for 10 mins and wow, this ref has been awful
This ref is absolute trash.
Cabral out here clowning and the ref enabling him
How that wasn't even a foul on fragapane is baffling
I know DJ isn’t the RB we hope to have replace but he’s a good filler for right now. Good speed and can put out fires
He’s getting better
LA just doesn’t look right without a sash.
BONGI! So close!
Dicey stuff right there.
More of that please!
Costa is starting to ball out
He scares me for sure
We’re looking more dangerous tonight than we ever did against Dallas.

This is the best breakdown ive seen for a specific player on any soccer sub in awhile. Thank you.
lmao
This is amazing
That’s a busy 4 minutes
This is the content I’m here for
Stay tuned, my man. It's a huge point of contention with the fanbase right now of whether or not "he's improving".
That yellow was weak AF
A tactical foul like that is almost automatic when you pull a player from behind like that.
Eh. It’s a tactical foul, stopping a guy breaking away. Any other time in the game it’s a yellow, it just sucks to get it in the second minute.
Super anxious about this one NGL. Loons have not looked confident for a long time
This is the time of season that the Galaxy keep the "western bloodbath" narrative alive by losing to everyone - you're in good shape!
