It'd be really amusing if Miami spent money to get to #1 on the Allocation Order to get Yedlin and then he decides to go to Hull.

royalewithcheese4272

We’ll just get Almiron instead

Isiddiqui

As if playing for Neville is any better than Steve Bruce ;)

royalewithcheese4272

Ha! Newsflash Neville is just a skinny Steve Bruce!

litthefilter

Not without three terrible self-published novels featuring a self-insert soccer player/manager/detective/secret agent

majorgeneralporter

The Orlando and Atlanta salt would single-handedly raise the seas enough to flood Miami.

Klaxon5

It doesn't expire. They just hold it until they use it or sell it.

Isiddiqui

It actually does expire. Every year after the MLS Season the league resets the Allocation order based on record and playoff performance (which is why the last two teams in the Allocation Order right now is Portland and NYCFC).

Klaxon5

Lol. I stand corrected. MLS is wild.

Brooklyn_MLS

Cant copy and paste from article, but it says that a source told The Athletic that Miami and him held talks, but it looks unlikely for him to join. Curious to know why Yedlin wouldn’t be interested in a move back to MLS—he’s a USMNT player, his name has more cache here than in the Championship at this point.

colewcar

It’s a World Cup year… Yedlin wants to be on the 23 man roster. Full stop that’s it. If this was post World Cup then yes we’d be seeing him in MLS now.

AlanLGuy

GGG has shown that he’s more than willing to bring MLS players into the squad, so I don’t buy the argument that he won’t be in contention for a World Cup spot of playing in MLS instead of Europe. It probably has a lot more to do with salary. Top players in the Championship usually make the equivalent of $2mil. If Miami was trying to keep him on TAM wages then he can probably find a club in the championship willing to pay more

colewcar

I was actually talking about playing at a high level. Many players want to play at the highest possible level they can prior to World Cup… because that’s what they’ll face at the World Cup if they make the roster.

ItsDare

According to one article I saw Danny Drinkwater is earning ~$7m.

AlmoschFamous

Danny Drinkwater is still a Premier league player though. He’s just loaned to a team for playing time.

Debando

Maybe because its not Seattle?

lavatomy

Money.

FauverJB

How does he feel now that Hull City just fired their manager and are reportedly bringing Shota Arveladze?

GratefulDawg73

Nothing like picking a shithole like Hull over Miami.

takethatkevin

Hey! I lived there for a year...10% of it isn't a shithole! ....

Chance-Literature-56

I second what this man said!
