As someone who works in a hospital Central Florida that has some patients sitting in the ED waiting room for 24+ hours because there are no rooms available, I find this really frustrating. I was really rooting for Pato to overcome his injuries and have a decent season, especially since he seemed have a great attitude and came across in his interactions as a decent guy. Hopefully this is just a one time mistake on his part and he'll make an effort to educate himself and others who seem to confuse public health protocols with totalitarianism. But fuck, does it make me dad to see this
tbf he is fully vaccinated.
Just so strange.
Yeah, I'm definitely happy about that. And also that it wasn't a post he actually wrote, just something he decided to share. He wouldn't be the first person to share a post without reading it completely through, and if that's the case here hopefully he'll be more careful with what he posts in the future.
He went full Florida man I guess.
Funny thing is he's definitely vaccinated. I remember seeing him post about it.
He’s an anti-vaxxer, but he’s also a Brazilian. That’s how the anti-vaxxers roll down there. They’ll talk crap about the vaccine, but they’ll still get it. Talk is cheap.
Yeah, and Antonio Brown submitted a vax card to the NFL, which deeeefinitely means he's vaxxed! Nobody ever lies about that!
Edit: Saw the photo, admittedly harder to fake haha. Makes this take all the weirder.
No like there’s literally a photo of him with the [needle in his arm](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9440023/amp/Alexandre-Pato-one-footballers-reveal-hes-Covid-vaccine.html) lol
Admittedly harder to fake, which makes this weird Djokovic take even weirder
I mean not really… he probably just believes that it should be peoples personal choice
I mean, yeah really when you sprinkle in racist-ass shit like calling it the Chinese virus, calling vaccines totalitarian, etc.
Where does it say China virus? I don’t see it.
Edit: I see it! I hope it’s just a language thing
Line 3) "PESTE CHINESA" - translates to Chinese Plague to be exact
It was a picture of a medical professional in a OCSC facility jabbing him. Yes that can still be faked but I'm going with the medical professional not being corrupt.
Now get me the photo where he goes to a Trump convention and wears his Chinavirus T-shirt.
Alright, that is admittedly tougher to fake.
He's very pro-Bolsanaro who is anti-vaxx (which yes makes it even funnier that he is vaccinated)
Unfortunately, this isn't confined to Florida. You'd be shocked at the amount of people clogging the ED I work at who are tourists from other States who just decided that a pandemic was the best time to go see Mickey. I feel like this point you could pretty much diagnose the entire US with having Florida Man Syndrome
Probably not the only player who would post something like this (Cameron). And at some point I stopped caring but you would think that someone like Pato who spent his whole career injured would actual listen to his doctor.
Maybe that is why he is constantly injured?
Maybe he got one of those mysterious vaccine injuries.
I asked myself why this is in the MLS subreddit. I had completely forgotten he was in MLS.
I think I saw a quote yesterday that basically goes like this:
I'm less sad about the pandemic than I am about how some humans have responded to the pandemic.
I have friends who I just have a hard time relating to anymore because their whole personality has changed the past two years due to their response to the pandemic. It really makes me sad and seeing this...well I think reminds me of that type of nonsense.
I have a chronic respiratory condition and the number of "friends" who have refused even the most minor requests (like wearing a mask) when they're around me despite knowing about the condition has been so depressing. Never really realized how bad chronic selfishness was in my social circle until COVID.
> chronic selfishness
Recently in a different forum, someone wrote something along the lines of 'I'm vaccinated and I support other people getting vaccinated but at this point why should I care about advocating for other people to get vaccinated. The vaccine is protecting me so why I should I care about other people getting it?"
and the top reply was:
"I don't know how to tell you to care about other human beings man"
I kind of see that persons point though. If everyone in my circle (including myself) is vaccinated, then why should i be worried about others being vaccinated? The vaccine is supposed to protect us from getting seriously sick so why worry right?
Because the unvaccinated are clogging up hospitals and killing any will to live medical professionals have left. Everyone should be advocating for everyone else to get vaccinated. You don't actually live in a bubble and people choosing not to get vaccinated can and will impact you.
We should be taking 🦆 advice on the best types of bread and killer ponds, not a global pandemic that requires at least a high school biology level of understanding
Dejan Joveljić posted a picture of Joker but it didn’t have any text. I would think Alexander Katai’s wife would also support him
To be clear as others have pointed out [he is vaxxed](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9440023/amp/Alexandre-Pato-one-footballers-reveal-hes-Covid-vaccine.html)
Braindead Moron Bingo:
* Calls restrictions totalitarian - like someone who's never read the definition of the world before
* Uses the phrase Chinese virus - y'know, like a racist
* Called the vaccines - proven to be safe and effective - experimental - y'know, like an idiot
He’s just missing the phrases like “IM JUST ASKING QUESTIONS” and “some people are saying this”
And “critical thinker”
And "did my own research."
Damn he’s gone full Florida, huh?
Fits right in in Florida!
Florida is in the top half of states in the US of percentage of the population fully vaccinated but sure feel free to keep taking digs.
Top half isn't really setting the bar anywhere meaningful. It's like saying, "My kids are so smart. They are C students."
The problem is the vaccination rate means nothing anymore. Right now, people who didn't get boosted are just as likely to get sick as people who were never vaccinated.
Florida is 4.6m out of 20.8m boosted, so 22%? I don't know if that is better than half, but it definitely is not worth bragging about.
>Florida is in the top half of states in the US of percentage of the population fully vaccinated but sure feel free to keep taking digs.
This is like when Atlanta fans were bragging about their stadium opening early by saying that their state reached a milestone in allowing 16+ to get vaccinated....
...but didn't mention that this was only because nobody else was getting vaccinated in sufficient numbers. (Hell, they're still only [51.8% vaccinated](https://www.mayoclinic.org/coronavirus-covid-19/vaccine-tracker).)
Onto Florida: You lag woefully behind in most vaccinated statistics. Namely: You're 43rd in 5-11 vaccines. You're 29th in 12-17. Your old people population puts you in the 50th percentile when comparing total populations. That's it. That's terrible.
On the whole, your state isn't very densely populated outside of Miami proper. And yet your per-capita numbers are [alarming when compared to other urbanized states/areas](https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/covid-cases.html):
You've got multiple areas of your state that have death rates over 1-per-200. Miami has a death rate of 1-per-292.
Further, Florida is going on its FOURTH spike, whereas large parts of the country avoided last summer's surge by not being idiots and reopening with abandon.
Them's the digs.
Texas, the pinnacle of covid restrictions adherence
Did I say he wouldn’t fit in here too Mr Talks Shit About Flair But Doesn’t Have One
Haha. Flair? I'm wearing the required 15 pieces
As of about 20 minutes ago, he posted to his story about the importance of being vaccinated
"It's important to be vaccinated. Don't get the wrong idea about me, please."
"Also, it's important to keep my racism off of social media. So people don't get the right idea about me."
Lol, fuck this dude
Anyone expect any action from Orlando on this?
I love how I’m getting downvoted for asking a question lol
I mean, what can they do? He's vaccinated, that's all Orlando cares about. Him being an idiot online isn't a punishable offense - as stupid as the post was.
> im being an idiot online isn't a punishable offense - as stupid as the post was.
I submit to you one Alexander Katai, who was let go from an MLS team for *his wife's* social media posts.
Who cares if he's vaccinated? The translation of that post is a bit questionable, as you know. He repeatedly emphasizes "Chinese Virus" and not "COVID."
Dude is borderline racist, or at least anti-Chinese.
While yes, you definitely can be reprimanded for something like that, there is a difference between using a term like "Chinese virus" - which is, to me at least, fairly obviously racist - vs. deciding you can't keep a guy around who's wife said that cops should kill protesters and called them disgusting cattle.
I think Chinese virus is racist, and not to make it a game of "what racism is worse", but the active calls to kill Black people and comparing them to subhuman animals is a different line to cross, IMO.
Certainly being an idiot online can result in punishment by your employer.
I mean, while yes, they're not going to do anything about this. He's vaccinated, which is really what they care about primarily.
I bet management would act if he continues using, "Virus chines," in public.
Oh yeah, if he does that for sure. But most likely he gets an admonishment and maybe apologizes via IG story or something for this
Why would they punish him? He is vaccinated and did not break any rules.
Translate the post and you'll see why it's questionable.
Yikes. Send the Duck to reeducation camp immediately.
