Love the timing of releasing this after the Rusnak announcement. Sneak it in, boys.
Hurry Bingham, sign this contract while no one is paying attention
RSL lost Rusnak and they hid it behind signing 4 HGP. Meh.
Would you rather RSL *not* sign homegrown players?
It has been a lot. Like probably the most in league history lot.
And the crowd goes mild
Lmao have fun with Bingham. All of our fans hated him
I think half of our fanbase already does
For his play or his personality? He was pretty nice in San Jose. I remember he took my ball, signed it and then took it over to John Busch for him to sign too. Years later he tossed me a glove. Always seemed a good guy
Eh both. People weren't vibing with the super cop conservative kinda stuff off the field. He's a decent dude, but we never really embraced him as our keeper because of the SJ stint and also the fact he was bad in goal.
More the bad in goal part. Immediately yelling at all of the defenders after he let in an easy goal. He had his moments.
> super cop conservative kinda stuff off the field
Is there something I don’t know about him?
We took a GK that we absolutely humiliated in the MLS cup as our starting GK and he was one of the best in the league. I think Bingham was the least of your teams problems.
Bingham topped the league in saves one year and i guarantee you it's not because he's a great keeper
Yeah fuck Bingham and his weird family that gets involved in his shit. Good luck Portland, but he's had a huge fall in grace. I hope he's your bench keeper
If you thought our backline was bad, wait 'til you see our keepers!
While I'm not thrilled about this I also understand it and am willing to give Ivacic a chance with an extended run as the #1, something he has yet to get in MLS.
For people that need to be cheered up about our GK situation, just remember that there is a gigantic teenage Alaskan that will hopefully getting some good minutes in goal as part of MLS Next Pro this year.
Would another 6-2 thrashing do?
As long as you're out in the first round, and we play MLS cup, sure
As long as that includes you guys losing at home, it’s a deal!
Sure, whatever. I'd much rather play for MLS cup and lose than be golfing.
I can’t speak from experience because I’ve never watched us lose an MLS Cup at home so I need to ask the experts. Does it hurt more than watching it happen on the road?
Y'all always find a way to make everything about yourselves
Edit: ironically, a number of those six goals were due to poor play from Ivacic
Is that what rivalries are about?
Re: Edit: yeah, I was going to comment about the goal keeper in the game but couldn’t remember who it was, as I was delirious with joy.
We're so fucked.
I would rather have Hunter start over these guys.
If I was a Timbers fan at least he would give up goals with the potential to be good in a few years
Nah Ivacic is alright, he’s shown flashes here and there he might be good. Sulte is not ready at all he’ll get game time in T2
Ivancic had like one good game lol
He’s also only had like seven appearances in three years, I think the jury is still out on his quality
What flashes? He's never been anything but mediocre at the best of times, and pathetic at worst.
He was MOTM vs RSL on August 7th with some outstanding saves, and had a decent outing against San Jose in 2020. Before we judge him too harshly, we need to see how he does with a run of games
Seattle fans would like that, yes
I would really like it if you put Diego Chara in goal.
He can do it all. I wouldn't have any worries.
I would want him in goal so he isn't in the midfield. For some reason, I feel he would be a decent keeper, smiling after every save
Like Ochoa, but potentially with the skill to back it up? No thanks.. lol
You don't want to see the fouls he could get away with considering how much leeway refs give keepers these days
Chara Law now covers goalkeepers
If nothing happens by 02.13.2022, we might be fucked. The hyperbole train is really steaming in Portland this year.
What is up with Blanco?
Likely gone. I have [thoughts](https://www.reddit.com/r/timbers/comments/s395ps/comment/hsjbukp/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) on it that I shared in the Timbers sub
Having a top shot blocker is the only thing that kept our defense somewhat respectable last year. These guys are ... not that.
Not spending big on a keeper right now allows us to go get higher quality in the defense. That's the driving force behind this decision. I also just think that read of our defense this year is overly simplistic.
Surprised Portland didn't move for Milan Borjan he would have been a great pickup for them.
We are using an international slot for this rotation of garbage.
Holy shit, I thought Bingham was out of the league at this point.
He trained with us all last season… for reasons
Did anyone else read David Beckham at first? Just me? Ok.
Beckham might be the better keeper...
