It's so weird to see her in motion. I feel like this is going to be heartbreaking.

PF2500

Ah I get it now. Tylee first listened to everything her mother said in that interview next door. Then had her interview. cheese and rice. this is a fubar cop shop.

BasicCaucasianSecks

They need to sound proof their walls.

PF2500

yeah but until then do they just make everyone pinky swear not to listen.. or do they just pretend you can't hear anything.

PassengerEcstatic933

It’s unbelievable how composed she is (they all are) after such a major trauma. At her age I would’ve been a basket case dealing with this. Probably still would be now. Hard to believe in the other room Lori is so concerned about Tylee being left alone and then just months later ends her life. This whole thing defies description.

pepperlandshine

The child advocate assigned to Tylee at the age of 5 noted that she was very accustomed to drama and didn’t have the expected reaction to upheaval or trauma. Lori forced her to grow up very fast.

Patience765

Looks like mom spent that whole car ride getting tylees story together

RBAloysius

Tylee was obviously coached by Lori. She tells the officer that she doesn’t remember much of what was said, yet she can recall EXACTLY everyone’s movements & body positions as they moved throughout the house until she goes outside. In fact, she almost remembers everything else that happened without hesitation. She also explicitly recalls Charles saying if she hits him with the bat she will go to jail. Then she recounts how “crazy” Charles was, & yet how “calm” Lori & Alex were. I also found it interesting that she says everything happened so fast, that in one way it felt like two seconds, and in other ways it felt like 40 minutes. Oddly specific-She didn’t say it felt like hours. Alex waited around 40 minutes to call the police after he shot Charles. How long was Lori gone taking JJ to school? 40 minutes? Watching this video made me extremely sad for Tylee. She had no adult she felt close enough to or comfortable enough with to be there for her. I am also going to speculate Lori didn’t take advantage of the victim’s services the officer mentioned. Most parents would want some counseling for their child to make sure they were okay after a murder in their home that involved 3 close family members. Why did Tylee feel like she needed protection when she lived at her Uncle’s house?

Alternative-Way-8782

I thought that too when she specifically said 40 min

mmmelpomene

>Why did Tylee feel like she needed protection when she lived at her Uncle’s house? For a while after she drove her Jeep cross country (solo), she also lived there (solo, without Alex).

Dazzling-Ad4701

I think you make too much of the points. Two seconds yet 40 minutes is exactly how severe trauma can be experienced. It's bizarre sounding, but widely reported. I'm also at least open minded about her claim to just check out when people start yelling. I do question the 'Charles is/was violent' part as having been planted to support the perceived-threat narrative.

cheeseandwine99

It's shocking watching this, knowing that later she was murdered and dismembered. Just horrifying.

MarzannasSword

The first 33 minutes are heartbreaking - Tylee alone waiting. Then the officer comes at that point, and speaks with her. Then Tylee waits again and they let her go at the 1:20 mark to "come be with your mom".

PF2500

> Tylee alone waiting listening to what her mother was telling them.

MarzannasSword

I noticed that, too!

CAtwoAZ

And singing. Tylee had a beautiful voice! So heartbreaking to watch💔

mmmelpomene

I like how she looks so consideringly at the bear, like ‘well, guess it’s just you and me, kid’.

ninjacatmom

Does anyone else feel like her testimony is genuine? Maybe I’m just gullible, but is it possible Lori created the confrontation with Alex’s intention to shoot him in order to make Tylee a credible witness?

Patience765

I think she’s been manipulated by her mother her whole life

BasicCaucasianSecks

No. She hesitates at some parts. She’s not being 100% honest. And how she knew to avoid looking at Charles on the floor when she claimed to not know what really happened sounds like a lie to me. She already knew he was dead.

ninjacatmom

In hindsight, I wish the police officer would have asked about her relationship with her mother and maybe added that if she feels fearful that it’s a safe space to discuss it (like how airport bathrooms have discreet sex trafficking help signs). I don’t know that it would have prevented anything but I do wish there was a tad more professional skepticism that this could have been a calculated murder vs self defense, and I know it’s a fine line to balance skepticism and compassion.

SupaG16

She is incredibly composed for her age. I would have been a complete mess. The gravity of the situation does not appear to influence Tylee’s composure

Delicious_Standard_8

she reminds me of my former stepkids. No authority figure has ever seen them truthful when it comes to "protecting the family secret" . (the family secret being generational homelessness, addiction, incarceration, and severe mental illness) They can sit in silence and be calm after seeing a hugely traumatic event concerning their parents. It doesn't even phase them anymore, it's like they were desensitized to violence and addiction at birth :(

RBAloysius

The Guardian ad Litem noticed TR’s non response to traumatic events when Lori was fighting JR for custody & mentioned this to the court in a report. They were extremely concerned because TR was so young and already desensitized.

Delicious_Standard_8

I believe it. My stepkids have watched parents nodding out from drugs, arrests, constant homelessness and the violence that comes with the lifestyle of drugs and the streets. It breaks my heart. Nothing upsets or fazes them, not even death. They shrug it off. The result is they are unable to form bonds, think kids they met once at a shelter is their best friend because they were not allowed friends, and they have no empathy for anyone. Not just my former stepkids, but all of their cousins, too. It is a sin, I tell ya

BasicCaucasianSecks

Or maybe, it could’ve been a like mother like daughter situation. That shit is primarily hereditary.

SupaG16

Yes- she appears to be disconnected on many levels. I agree that long term exposure to intense and crisis situations can drastically change the overall affect of the individual. It’s just so damn heartbreaking

Delicious_Standard_8

i see mine dissociate and shrug off the most horrendous things, it's their only self defense.

SupaG16

Yes- I think you are correct. Disconnect is her only defense! This situation never ceases to break my heart. I wonder if she ever experienced love and peace as a child.

Salty-Night5917

My heart goes out to Tylee, the life she could have had with a sane mother and the wired, freaked out life she had with Lori, the goddess of the universe. It is obvious Lori has influenced her greatly and always kept her in the background.

nursedolittle

Tylee never mentioned Charles hitting Alex with the baseball bat but when Alex tells his story the baseball bat being struck on his head by Charles happened immediately after Charles took the bat from Tylee. So either Alex is lying about being struck in the head by Charles or Tylee blocked that part out because she feels like she’s to blame for Charles‘s death because she’s the one that brought the bat out of the room. But there are text messages between Lori and someone else which is believed to be Alex‘s new wife that prove this was premeditated murder. So I’m thinking with Lori’s mastery at scheming she used the power of persuasion and told Tylee in advance, should anything ever happen, Tylee had her bat to defend herself. While watching Alex’s video I noticed he did not have any bloodspatter or smudges on his clothes so he obviously did not do any type of resuscitation on Charles.

EducationalPrompt9

>But there are text messages between Lori and someone else which is believed to be Alex‘s new wife that prove this was premeditated murder. There's a text message from the previous evening to Melani P (not Zulema) in which Lori tells her not to attend a wedding in Utah, because she is needed with Lori. Lori also predicts in that message that something major would happen that week.

nursedolittle

I can’t remember where I saw it but I believe in the Voluminous police reports there were texts between Lori and a redacted person (Zulema) planning Charles death.

EducationalPrompt9

There's a lot of that in the latest document release. Somebody posted texts between Lori and Zulema on Twitter.

wessi10

Wtf did she at the 35’ mark just call the room a dance room ?

BasicCaucasianSecks

It’s sad how badly brainwashed this child was by her mother. She’s wasting time defending the wrong people. Chad pretty much raised her and she’s completely indifferent towards him. He was never violent, but she got a bat when she lived with her uncle? Her story starts to sound weird and jumbled up at some parts. I wish that she just told the truth instead of protecting her mother and uncle who were the real monsters.

mmmelpomene

Her own brother (Colby) has said/implied that Tylee didn't really like Charles. Specifically, he said "they clashed often" over JJ, as Tylee really thought she was on equal co-parenting footing with him. She got a bat for protection when they made her stay at Alex's house alone. (I'm assuming this is when Alex was off driving truck).

I wish that she just told the truth instead of protecting her mother and uncle who were the real monsters. She's a kid, coached by her crazy mother, I think you can cut her some slacks, she wasn't an adult. She lived all her life with Lori. Who knows what her mom told her ("If you don't say this or that, Mommy is going to jail and you'll be an like an orphan"). She probably didn't understand that her mom was a sociopath. You people totally lack of empathy, not unlike Lori.

EducationalPrompt9

At that point Tylee was likely unable to think objectively. Lori even told police that Charles only cared about JJ and didn't like Tylee.

Disastrous-Safety298

Well, if you didn’t believe children could be completely manipulated by a sociopath before, you probably do now! Heartbreaking! Imagine being a kid and your first instinct is to grab a bat? What the hell…. Parents yell during argument sometimes, kids don’t grab an object to feel “safer.”
