Hey has anyone seen the James Milner door? Did you know about the Milner door? What does the James Milner door mean?

ZakiFC

It’s just a door at the training centre that’s been named after James Milner

Bumi_Earth_King

Just got recommended Neymar's pro-Bolsonaro tweet because our Alisson liked it ☹️

ssjgotenks

Got a YNWA tat. Accepting funny answers to tell people what it stands for

RampantNRoaring

Just sound it out if they ask what it stands for. “Yuhnwah.”

Let's hope Ramsay and Artur perform better than expected

Musiala is a cut above most young players I've seen.

wadewilson59

Mane scores at last !!

LateRegistrxtion

In a very nice kit, it must be said

wadewilson59

Agreed

wadewilson59

Mane playing for Bayern atm on sky 416

R3w45

Just hearing Dua Lipa is dating Trevor Noah. Ffs really thought I had a shot !

RampantNRoaring

Trent’s about to turn into a monster

R3w45

hopefully this motivates him

markokmarcsa

Trent, this you? Get of reddit lad.

stevieG08Liv

WHAT? well now she has to be a Red since Trevor is one

circa_1996

Nkunku to Chelsea would be a massive missed opportunity for us. For £60m you’re getting probably the best possible long term replacement for Bobby, and he’s more prolific. Absolutely perfect profile for a Klopp team

TheLimeyLemmon

I'm more focused on us setting up our midfield. We have plenty going on in our attack.

circa_1996

That’s fair. I just love Nkunku and seeing him go to Chelsea would be disappointing

nijuu

Are we all about buying replacing players all the time ?

VirgilCanDijk

At the same time how many strikers do we need? We already have Jota and Nunez. It would have made sense for us to sign him in the summer maybe, but we went for Nunez instead. At that point another 60m player in the same position isn't really a missed opportunity

[deleted]

Would much rather us splurge on reinforcing midfield/defense first. Our attack is fine, for now

BigPapiBiggestFan

>sees Dua Lipa and Trevor Noah dating rumors SEE TRENT, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CAN’T BE BOTHERED TO DEFEND

Android17_MVP

Lmao Trent can't catch a break lately

BigPapiBiggestFan

How’s he gonna defend against the rest of the Prem when he can’t even defend against other dudes taking his woman?

kingdomkey13

Seeing the rumors of us in for Nkunku, if they’re true, do we really need him? Feels like we have enough striker depth between Darwin, Bobby and Jota

NilsFanck

Imagine Bellingham, Nkunku, Laimer in one window. Now that would be the "next summer" weve been waiting for for 3 years

stevieG08Liv

it looks like Chelsea js ahead in this deal. Id generally want him as he's more of an AM but heard his pressing ability is pretty poor

Jaja6996

We do need another forward especially if Bobby is leaving in the summer we haven’t heard anything about contract talks with him but preferably we’d go for a RW

kingdomkey13

Completely forgot Bobby’s contract expires, you’re right

Jaja6996

Yeah a winger is someone we should go for we have good depth at ST but only really have Mo and Diaz out wide I like the look of Mudryk

DJPeterMorris

Can he play right?

kingdomkey13

No clue, I assumed if we get more midfield depth Harvey goes back to playing forward and would be Salah’s backup

ItchyLeather

I can't recall... how did Curtis Jones get injured again?

stevieG08Liv

i dont think it was ever caught on camera but apparently a contact injury in the community shield

TheLimeyLemmon

Klopp said there was no contact. Curtis felt something and they took precautionary scans.

Constant_List6829

He came on at 90+5'.....how the fuck does a gte injured in that timeframe?

stevieG08Liv

im just a messenger, don't kill the messenger

ASlavPleb

He appears to be a Liverpool FC player, which comes with the side effect of picking injuries rather often

earlgreytoday

Is anyone concerned about the number of first-team regulars we have let go at the end of their contract? Emre Can, Alberto Moreno, Daniel Sturridge, Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana, Gini Wijnaldum and Divock Origi cost over £100m in transfer fees. We have Firmino, Ox and Keita out of contract next summer with the likely outcome being that they will be released as well (approximately £120m spent on those three players). We have been successful at selling players for decent fees (particularly with fringe players like Neco, Brewster and Solanke), and I'm aware that the club won't have been wholly complicit in allowing players' contracts expire, but it's just something that occurred to me and I wonder what everyone else thought.

circa_1996

The only person we’ve genuinely lost value on is Can, he was coming into his ‘prime’. Arguably Wijndum but if he doesn’t agree a contract that’s just how it works nowadays. The others we couldn’t have sold as no one would have paid for the likes of Lallana and Sturridge

Red_TeaCup

It's becoming a common trend for older or more established players to leave on the free rather than negotiate a long contract that will hamper a move + a bigger payday. The club has tried to negotiate a new contract with the players in question but their wage demands far exceeded what the club was willing to pay. Transfers-wise, a free transfer isn't a huge blow as people think.

CJVCarr

I agree, by the time they leave they've completed amortisation according to the accounts, so based on the books selline a year before for not much isn't as much pure profit as we might think. I think I remember someone explaining this about free transfers.

JurtisCones

Couldn’t give Origi, Lallana or Sturridge new contracts as they would happily sit on bench making that money forever. Wijnaldum and Emre didn’t want to sign. Clyne situation I don’t remember too well. Firmino has little market value by now. Ox and Keita I agree, we should have looked to get fees for. The problem is that with their injuries nobody would pay fees over the value they bring in squad continuity. Also Ox and Keita both get paid like Liverpool players and the optimum move for them is to earn this big money for another year and then take a sign-on bonus to go elsewhere.

McQueensbury

For a club that has a "sustainable" and sell to buy approach letting go so many players on free transfers is not good business, I can understand the likes of Sturridge, Clyne and Lallana, the rest of them we should be getting fees for them. Also you have to take a look at our soft approach of not pushing players out, Klopp needs to be more ruthless in telling players they are surplus to requirements rather than keeping them, it's hindered some of the transfer work as seen with the midfield issue

chiddie

Can and Gini were important to our aspirations in the present day. What does, say, £10-20m for each of those players really mean in the long term if we miss out on top 4 in 2017-18 or 2020-21 (the final year of their respective deals)? I'd also say that a fee for Moreno was hardly guaranteed, and there was little substance to any rumors of Oxlade-Chamberlain leaving last summer.

jaym1849

Extremely concerned, our ownership group has made it clear that we are a sell to buy club. This team has nabby, ox, Milner, and bobby all on the last years of their deal. Thiago and Henderson are going to be a year older. The team is at the point where there needs to be substantial investment next summer. We need multiple players that will compete for first team minutes.

glycerethe

No prematch threads huh.

namegoesbereee

Is only watching World Cup games at the bar/local theater that is screening them a cop out on boycotting? Or should i just not watch at all? Definitely don’t want to put it on my homes screens

TheLimeyLemmon

You can’t boycott media you’re still consuming. That’s why people who pirate to “stick it to” big companies aren’t pulling the massive own they think they are. Game of Thrones was one of the most pirated shows ever, but it wasn’t a big concern for HBO, because those millions were still engaging with their show, talking to their friends about it, keeping it the most relevant and popular piece of media of the moment. The only thing that’s really going to hurt this World Cup now is a degree of genuine irrelevance, when people can’t even bother to pirate it. I don’t honestly see that happening, so don’t worry too much about it, do what you like tbh.

richardfitzwell822

A nuanced opinion, much appreciated cheers

Gainesicle

has anyone heard of any links to Zambo Anguissa?

McQueensbury

Nope he would cost a ton now, wish we had bought him when Fulham got relegated he was very good that season, got overlooked by many teams.

Bent_Kopite

Honestly won't be annoyed if we try but miss out on Jude as long as we don't sit on our arse and try and make a proper effort to improve the squad

dillipkr6999

Todd boehly not fucking around some serious investments to reach man City's level.

stevieG08Liv

Lot of investments yes, but are they good investments leaves a question mark. Nkunku if done will be a good one but generally buying a shit ton of players till deadline day and then sacking their head coach? Not thinking that was a good idea and pretty much sums Chelsea's situation where they are spending but don't seem to be targeting that strategically. They also lost a lot of senior management who knew about football so there is a lot of question mark they have to prove

Red_TeaCup

They won't reach City's level in a few years. Potter is untested at the top level, Boehly has been largely buying players without much of a transfer strategy, and they essentially fired most of the club's leadership and ripped out the foundations of the club's infrastructure. It's going to be a while before Chelsea is at top again.

TheToadstools

Yeah Chelsea will overtake us as Citys main rivals going forward. Hopefully we see some invest in the squad to keep us relevant. If we lose out on top 4 this season we could be in real trouble

elppaple

Yeah, feels like we should expect a regression to the mean, and get used to life as a top 4 club with trophy aspirations. But being pleasantly surprised is always welcome.

jaym1849

This is such a sad reality. I’d love to disagree with you, but I can’t. Just insanely frustrating that we have this window with Klopp and it’s being squandered before our eyes.

[deleted]

Nooo they built the heccin' AXA training centrerinoo....

elppaple

won the net spend graph

VirgilCanDijk

Seeing the amount of Brazilian footballers showing their support for Bolsonaro is a timely reminder that footballers aren't role models nor should they be viewed as such. These are extremely wealthy 20-something year olds who achieve immense fame for their ability to kick a ball and run.

NoNameJackson

Everyone can be a "role model" at what they are good at and what they've succeeded at. I don't like the term role model in a general sense, as in this celebrity worship nonsense. Is Vardy a good role model for struggling professional players and young people looking to turn their life around? Is Allison a good role model for goalkeepers? Is Sterling a role model for kids of immigrants and marginalized communities? Does anyone else need to take anything else from them? For me role models in a celebrity sense in football and in sport should only be a handful of people.

Red_TeaCup

Most of them came from very religious and poor backgrounds. Once you add the obscene amount of wealth that they're introduced to at a young age, it'll seriously warp their perceptions of the world.

TongaDeMironga

Yes but you’d like to think that people who come from poor backgrounds might help the communities that they came from. Like Mané does, for example. Bolsonaro hates the poor black population of Brazil, so supporting him endorses that political viewpoint. Instead of helping the poor communities, they are essentially harming them.

Teb-41

That, plus the fact that don't have a great education (given the adolescence spent in games and training)

elppaple

Yes, footballers are quite literally the stupidest possible role models. They contribute literally nothing to society, other than 'entertainment' and some of them choosing to give away their money. Most of them have zero real education, they just kick ball and have people manage their lives. I'm not a hater, they just are absurdly dumb choices for role models

[deleted]

[удалено]

elppaple

Footballers are people, yes. That means they're good or bad. People are smart, people are stupid. My point is obviously that there's zero essential qualification to be a good role model or free-thinker needed to play football well. I'm not saying footballers are bad people, just that kicking a ball well carries no inherent meaning in terms of 'are you a good person'.

[deleted]

elppaple

Some jobs are morally good, though, especially if they're not done for financial gain

degausserxx

Don't get how changing owners allow a club to not only forgo debts owed to previous owner, but allow new owners to spend like there's no tomorrow.

elppaple

basically any club can spend tons if they want to, as long as the owner is good for the money. We could do a Chelsea if our owners wanted to

InfamousJackfruit672

debt is a private business, if a club can service it's debt, the level of debt isn't any issue, see Man Utd and Barcelona. FFP strictly looks at money spend vs. money coming in. New owners who want's to pump more money into the club than FFP allows has a number of ways to get around the limits. Newcastle is issuing single shares quite often and selling to Saudi Arabia for astronomical figures and Man City get's inflated sponsorship deals from stateowned companies like Ethihad airways.

BigMo1

The Leeds game being moved to 7:45pm on a Saturday is wild, especially less than a month before the game. More proof that the PL give zero fucks about travelling fans.

richardfitzwell822

Why travel when you could stay home and be a statistic for the next time they negotiate a billion dollar TV deal?

TheNotoriousJN

Nkunku to Chelsea. Fucking hell

theOwl_8

Gosh that kfc indy khalia guy saying Big LFC news at 12, we all know he’s a waffler yet get intrigued every time 🤣

Hoodxd

Indy is tier 1

TheLimeyLemmon

Last time I saw one of those, he was claiming Firmino was going to Barcelona, two windows ago lol.

biskuitgorila

Its Caicedo for January's transfer. Big if true 😂

ss2195

He does this everytime and deletes the tweet after

[deleted]

"LFC to extend James Milner's contract until the heat death of the Universe"

VerticalWaste

Nkunku probably off to Chelsea then, fair play.

JonathanFisk86

How has he been this season, anyone know? Loved the look of him last year.

McQueensbury

Yeah they are not playing around, no PR spin or anything just going out getting their targets, wouldn't be surprised if they go back in for Gvardiol next summer too

napoleonboneitis

The absolute depression that pair of transfers would induce is already depressing just to think about. Nkunku and Gvardiol - two players we should be leaping all over to sign and they're both targets for a disgusting institution like chelsea. They're both already elite and will only get better, but it's not like Liverpool could afford them anyway I suppose.

Mad_Piplup242

Why exactly should we be leaping all over to sign a defender and a forward? We have plenty good defenders with little need to add another one at the moment And the only position where we need a forward is to back-up Salah and Nkunku ain't gonna stay on the bench

napoleonboneitis

We have Van Dijk, who gets run into the ground as he has to okay every single minute. After him we have the ageing and injury prone Matip, the injury and error prone Konate, and then Gomez who has shown no signs of improvement over the years, making the same mistakes over and over while injuries have taken his one true selling point - his pace. We definitely need to be proactive with issues in the defence that are stacking up and ready to be knocked over like dominoes. On the Nkunku side, he will immediately improve any team and ideally that would be Liverpool and not a rival, meanwhile we have Firmino about to leave which leaves the perfect spot for Nkunku to fill. That doesn't negate the fact that a Salah backup is also necessary. These are two elite, young players who are versatile and could be used in more than a single position. There's no argument against them being brought in the squad, except of course the club's distinct lack of ambition as illustrated in the previous years' transfer windows.

>Locatelli I quite like him, lots of energy and all that good stuff. out with a muscle injury atm, so he'll fit right in :D

ThiagoXNaby

Absolutely massive month in the season. That break was nice, I can feel a lot more excited and optimistic again (thank fucking Christ for Matip's late winner!). This is a big month for a few players as well. Time for Trent to step up, which I'm expecting after all the Southgate/England talk. Nunez and Jota are two others we need (and I'm expecting) to really kick on.

Supkingz123

What time is Klopp speaking today to call Southgate a waist coat wanker?

Android17_MVP

I was also thinking about this 😂, bet Southgate will be watching biting his nails lmao

DJPeterMorris

[deleted]

Honestly feels like it's been literal months since we last played football. All the tension has gone in it for me, it just is what it is now.

lolowalsh

There is nothing worst than hating a player for being cnt on the pitch, then later finding out that he is based when he's not playing football. I'm talking about Richardson who seem to be very progressive politically and super anti Bolsorano, whilst other Brazilians like: Neymar are promoting him on Twitter. Is Firmino pro Bolsorano as well or does he keep his political views private?

glycerethe

Some cnts know they can't be the biggest cnt in the room so they have to go a different way to 'buy' fans, it's not that they hold X beliefs, it's just a tool to attract attention. I know some church goers who don't really believe in religions, but call themselves Christians as a tool to meet and make connections with different people. Just because someone say they are X, doesn't mean they are. If you get what I mean.

theOwl_8

Most Brazilian footballers are.. I mean I’ve read on twitter countless times that all of Fabinho, Alisson, Firmino are pro bolsonaro but I’m not sure where people know that from. Most do it’s just a fact (supposedly apart from Richarlison and Martinelli, Bruno G)

What's the military like over there? Would they respect the vote or are they one of those countries where it depends on the loyalty of corrupt generals?

Russia was the same really, they have so many issues but feel like a lot more people are fed up having two back to back world cups with controversial countries. FIFA is to blame nobody else.

petethepool

Just looking forward to some Klopp speak tbh.

ZakiFC

Seems like another victim of Klopp's basement, Calvin Ramsay, has finally made a public appearance. Good to see.

vurbbbb

Should I size down half a size for my football boots? Wanting to buy the Adidas X Speedportal.1’s. I’ve heard you need to size down for boots.

glycerethe

You HAVE to try them before buying. If it's too small or big you're not going to want to wear it. I've had boots eating into the area just above my heel bone because it's too small, after a game it was blood all over, the next week i had to wear flip flops.

Leo_BaldWolfeTone

I have the new Adidas copa mondial and had to size up. They’re slightly too big so maybe half size up. This is the general rule for most adidas shoes/boots. I’d buy a half size up and maybe a full size up and return the ones that don’t fit.

AdikkuChan

Can't you just try em on at the store? Generally you want your boots to feel "just right". Not too tight, not too loose

kanyehameha

Imagine spending 130 million in one window, on British talent just to have Maguire and Wan Bissaka

rob3rtisgod

I hate how MU win nothing and spend 100 million each window, we can only spend after a large sale, yet we've won infinitely more than them since SAF left.

TH1CCARUS

Why do you hate that?

CorztR

fab, thiago, harvey midfield i guess? would like to see darwin start but i think jota will, he looks to be in good form.

Supkingz123

A mini pre season for Arthur I wonder if he will get some game time this weekend.

NilsFanck

He could well start Hendo

CorztR

i could live with it as long as he's fully fit

NilsFanck

yeah me too. Trent and Elliott on one side is just too attacking unless youre playing the likes of Bournemouth

no1everyone

Lads, it just hits me. One day in the near future, we'll be seeing Alonso-Gerrard-Thiago midfield in a Legends match.

ZakiFC

Assuming Thiago retires at like 36 that means Alonso (45), Gerrard (47), Thiago (36) at the very least. Would be very interesting lmao

Mad_Piplup242

We should play a game against Bayern again Then 2/3 of each midfield can just be Alonso and Thiago

Techno_Six

How long does it take to get from lime street to the stadium on the bus? Trying to work out which train I need.

PeiMeisPeePee

walk a bit and get an uber if theres a group of you. otherwise a walk all the way isnt bad

deanlfc95

Not an answer to your question but it is quite a nice walk and not that much slower at about 45 minutes.

SuckMyDivock

It’ll inevitably rain, always does here in Liverpool

deanlfc95

Better to be walking than waiting in the bus queue.

BritOnTheRocks

Plenty of people do it. So you’ll never walk alone.

Squiggles87

20/25 min depending on traffic.
