Mulberry-Dangerous

What are your realistic expectations for the club next season ?

hoopbag33

Should be right there in all comps again. Its a big year tbh. This is one of those years when we say "woah, player X was in the side with player Y?!" in 20 years. Darwin, Jota, Diaz, Elliot, Fabio, etc with the likes of Milner, Mo, and Bobby. The torch is going to be passed, hopefully the young lads carry on the current squads levels. This year is the start of that.

calooie

CL or PL win. Diaz with a full preseason and having Darwin through the middle rather than playing Mane out of position makes us stronger, and we were pretty good already. Also the possibility of signing another midfielder.

sp_bc

Hope - Get that quad Realistic: Top 3 finish, deep CL run, less success in domestic cups due to loss of some depth options. Risk of injuries or team fatigue in later half of season.

malcolm58

Juventus' Adrien Rabiot, is reportedly interested in a move to Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City or Tottenham this summer and could be available for just £13 million, according to The Telegraph.

NewfieDad12

There’s a reason he’s available for 13m, Juve obv don’t want him and they have an awful midfield atm

NewfieDad12

Any genuine transfer links at the moment? I’m having withdrawals it’s been a few days

TheZookeeper7

13/14 Suarez in this Liverpool side would break every prem record for a single season

arpigyi

Taki deserved more chances to play. Surely he should had started ahead of Ox. I would slot him in for Jones too. Taki scored a good number of goals for us even though he didn't played a lot. He will be missed

redbadger1848

Its probably because there are a lot of people on this sub that aren't from the UK.

generalobnoxious

Will need to pick a team to support during the WC or else the winter will get boring quick. Any recommendations?

sp_bc

Give Canada a try! It’s our first WC in 36 years and we have a pretty exciting young team.

BriarcliffInmate

I can't support my usual (Ireland) or 2nd choice (Scotland) so it'll be Wales for me. I'll support anyone who plays England tbh.

NewfieDad12

I normally like to cheer for Italy as my own country never qualifies. I’ll go for Uruguay in this one because Luis is my favourite ever Liverpool player and now we have Darwin

Android17_MVP

I normally support every team that has a lfc player selected although I have a soft spot for Netherlands.

ss2195

Any team I support goes out early, so if anyone hates any team in particular, let me know.

nask00

I always support Netherlands and I'm not even Dutch. Kinda wierd, but always liked their national team. They don't look very solid this WC, but I'm still rooting for them.

JAdoubleWHY

After the United States gets trounced from the group stages, I’ll be all aboard the England bus

arpigyi

Argentina and Portugal which might be one last world cup for Messi & Ronaldo. Our boy Jota in Portugal too. Brazil is fun to watch with Neymar, Raphinha and Vinicius. Or do you like to see France counter attack with Mbappe slicing through the defenders. Spain have some uprising Mid-fielders that is worth a watch. Croatia for the utimate underdog. Lastly, England if you want a heart-break💔

burntroy

Feel like people are not taking Portugal seriously enough. They seem stacked with great young talent. Would never want Ronaldo to win tho.. Argentina all the way this year as unlikely as it is.

JessicaSmithStrange

for me, I'm going with Wales, in honour of my grandmother, and the South Wales part of my heritage. Probably go out in the fucking group stage, but it will be worth it just to see Neco and Ramsey, and to have the national anthem for cough syrup blaring out before matches. Bonus points for me, if Bale shows up. Fuck I want a new goalkeeper though. Wayne Hennessy is a walking example of when Cancel Culture is necessary.

BriarcliffInmate

Is Danny Ward any better? I can't say I've been watching him since we sold him, but he seems like he'd be better than Hennessy.

JessicaSmithStrange

Probably, but I don't know if skill level even matters to me, as long as Hennessy is gone. The incident with the Nazi salute kind of wound me up, seeing as I'm both disabled and LGBT, two groups that nearly got wiped off the face of the planet 80 years ago. Him apparently not knowing what the hell a Nazi was at the time, I get it I think, but it means that either he's a moron, or his secondary school sucked back in the day.

BriarcliffInmate

Yeah, Hennessy seems like a major douche. It's a shame because the Welsh team seem like a great bunch of lads, and Giggs finally getting booted has made them more OK to support!

arpigyi

That is nice. I think Bale will play, since he always give his best for you guys. Defnetly have my eyes on Ramsey too. Hope you guys get pass through the group stage. Curious to see if Joe allen will play though

JessicaSmithStrange

Joe Allen is one of those guys who I always get during a FIFA Road To Glory, as a transitional piece, when I'm looking for my first 75+ ratings. And then after an entire season of clutching the handset too tight, because the game has him moving through treacle, I end out doing the cliche FIFA thing, and hyper inflating his wage, before he gets traded for literally anybody else. Got nothing to really say about him, although I know his real life record, it's just I always end out buying and selling half of the Wales squad, including him.

Vivid_Mirror2245

Well Netherlands,Brazil,Spain,Portugal etc have some of our players.Senegal have a club legend and they are one of the underdogs.England and France will probably have at least 1 Liverpool player also (Trent and Konate).Personally,I’m going with England coz I’m from England but Argentina as my 2nd favourite team for the World Cup coz I’m a big fan of Messi

Cawn123

England?

KloppOnKloppOn

You could always just support whichever Liverpool player in it Is your favorite

neoj6

I usually just enjoy football, don't have to support anyone

nukhraa

I'm still trying to choose between Argentina and Portugal. Leaning Portugal because we have representation there, but I've also always liked Argentina.

LuisRHC

I like Argentina and Croatia

Craft-Superb

I just want to be a football fan again not an accountant for LFC. I’m sick of hearing and talking about net spend, wage structures, installments, revenue etc etc. Feel like I’m supporting JP Morgan not Liverpool FC. But no one really to blame but ourselves and the club for allowing this discourse to become commonplace

BriarcliffInmate

Unfortunately, that's part of modern football now. You can't just close your eyes to reality, whether it be the actions of a club sponsor in a far-flung land or where your owner is getting his money. It's been a part of us for longer than most, because so many of us had to become experts when we were trying to find ways to get rid of Hicks and Gillett. In fairness, you really don't have to talk about net spend, installments or anything like that, as long as you accept we can't just spend like City do. If you accept that, you can just be happy with what the club does. If you want to spend more you need to look at whether that's actually possible.

nukhraa

I think a lot of it comes from the ambiguity of what "supporting the club" means. The answer to WHAT are you supporting differs from group to group. For some its just the current players and coaching staff. Others extend it to past players or artefacts associated with the club. Still others extend it to owners too. Locals probably also include the city or their locality. It's all very ambiguous So just like we play Salah > Hazard or Klopp > Guardiola or Anfield > Old Trafford, some feel they should extend it to Pious, Fair Capitalist owners > Murderous, Ill - intentioned petro state owners.

NGog_Fan

> Still others extend it to owners too You can't support a financial group mate > Fair Capitalist These two words are mutually exclusive

nukhraa

>You can't support a financial group mate I'm not. I'm only pointing out that others do >These two words are mutually exclusive Again, it's not my pov. But there's more than enough posts hailing their "model", trying to convince others that it's the "right" thing.

YellowBaboon

Then don't? There are plently of fans who only care about football for 90 minutes a week when the ball is being kicked.

ss2195

>the club Don't drag them into this. This state of affairs is on us sadly.

Craft-Superb

Although I would agree it’s on the fans more than the club, they’re also slightly responsible with the way that they brief journalists. All the club mouthpieces are always talking about finances it only makes sense the fans would start too

TheZookeeper7

Crazy how a year ago this place was begging for Mané to be sold

Teb-41

...no, it wasn't?

GTACOD

Maybe it wasn't the whole place but there absolutely were people asking for Mané to be sold. I was probably one of them.

TheZookeeper7

On deadline day last people were talking about it being “last chance to sell Mané” and bringing in another attacker. Last season his form was really bad and lots wanted him out

spansypool

Is the only content on our sub now “goodbye Mane.” There’s been like five farwell posts a day for two weeks. It’s very trite.

nukhraa

It's free karma

Kreguar

Can Darwin play in the final vs City?

WH6TSINANAME

Final?

Kreguar

Community shield final, yes

Mad_Piplup242

Why wouldn't he?

spansypool

They probably mean cause he wasn’t in the squad for the games last year. Which is a reasonable thing to ask but the answer is - it’s not relevant, he will be in the squad if fit

fakebytheocean

Here’s an interesting one. Considering how proper strikers (and left footed RW) are becoming rare, wouldn’t it make a lot of sense for smaller teams to switch to a 442? They’ll gain defensively plus they won’t have to splash for 3 forwards.

LuisRHC

Atletico Madrid is the only one I can think of that use this more regularly it worked for them in the past, Real Madrid used something similar last season when they played Valverde with Kroos, Modric and Casemiro.

Ordinary-Eggplant-15

442 is so old now that it's new again. Many teams would struggle against 2 strikers. It will make a return to the top flight at some point.

vaqilbabu

In 4-3-3 the extra midfielder allows teams to have greater control in central areas and show opposition wingers outside so you can then use your 2 CBs and 1 DM to cover the 2 strikers and the third runner.

risingstar3110

Yeah there is a reason why 4-4-2 is not working atm The center of the pitch is too weak, comparing to 4-3-3. Meanwhile the wings are too packed (fullbacks, right and left midfielders, and both strikers would also tend to be pushed to one side or another, otherwise they will overlap)

Asad_OG

I seriously doubt Edwards will go to United or chelsea, but i still think the question of loyalty still exists

BriarcliffInmate

From what I've heard, and I don't really have inside info but I do sort of know a few people who know him, he's not intending on returning to football any time soon. He's already turned down Newcastle and Madrid. I know Ajax like him and they like him, but it'd be next year. I've also heard he might explore setting up an agency, which would probably work brilliantly for his skillset.

rvwxyz

Who cares, he's not at the club anymore. Football is just another business to everyone involved but the fans. Why should Edwards deny himself the career progression, salary or location he didn't get at Liverpool? He wouldn't have left Liverpool if everything was ideal. He was an absolute professional, is very good at his job and did nothing wrong by the club, he can go wherever he likes as far as I'm concerned.

spansypool

I think joining United would be a bit much personally. I can’t see someone doing that. I don’t actually agree that “it’s just business to everyone but the fans.” Part of why people get into this business is love of the game, love of the community it provides. I expect he’s primarily motivated by his career but I doubt exclusively.

Asad_OG

Couldn't care less, its a matter of joining Chelsea and United, dont want him to join either

Volteli

Any ideas when the July Members sale starts this year? Can't find anything with all my googling

DJPeterMorris

18th ish

abradley19955

Everton want Harry Winks apparently … Lmao

Percussion17

Looking forward to hear phrases about evolution whenever Nunez scores

BriarcliffInmate

You just know it's going to be Peter Drury who gets the first one in

kidkaze

Darwinism.

kidkaze

Darwinism.

arisefromtheashes

man Brewster's career is off a cliff shows how quick life can change

One_Sauce

The amount we got for him off Sheffield is a steal. Might be some of Edward's best work

MartinPerrott

Don't think he's playing good football but that charge seems like a load of shit to me.

Redhawk911

What happened?

rvwxyz

What is the actual accusation, I just read him and another player are charged with something after the fracas at the playoff finals but the article didn't say what the charge was?

Rottedhead

[There's this video](https://twitter.com/VillaJase/status/1539947242592813057), where Brewster and the other dude seem to be really aggressive towards the opposition fans. They probably injured someone and they pressed charges.

malushanks95

>Fabrizio: “Liverpool's interest in Asensio? I think it’s difficult. It could perhaps be something for the end of the transfer window. In the event that Liverpool decides to change it’s position. Right now, internally they’re happy with their team.” Don’t think we will go for him, we keep getting linked with him every summer, so feels more like an annual rumour than a genuine interest.

NewfieDad12

Yeah he’s an annual link, de Ligt has become the same

Peanut_77

He prolly doesn’t know if we want him or not (we definitely don’t).

FezBear92

Marco "Stalking Horse" Asensio

nukhraa

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but it might be something for the end of the transfer window because of the Salah situation. If he's not committed by the last week of the window we might go for Asensio. But then again, might be reading too much into it

Android17_MVP

Salah's situation is irrelevant, he has decided to stay for the season.

nukhraa

It is relevant whether or not he's here for the 23/24 season and beyond. If he is, we're golden. If he isn't, it might be sensible to buy early (before getting desparate) and bed in the new player.

Android17_MVP

Yea that's the ideal scenario, my point was Asensio will never be Salah's replacement so it's a non story.

nukhraa

I can agree with that 😊

GTACOD

Him signing or not could still have an effect despite that. Ideally we'd have a season to bed in his replacement with him still here, if he signs that season wouldn't be this season.

gottodo

"The Club could sign a player if they want. But not now. Maybe they change their position, maybe not." - Every Fabrizio Tweet

Bamfandro

Man the guy just isn’t good enough, Real fans are practically begging teams to take him off them. He’s getting the poor Seferovic treatment.

fakebytheocean

Yes exactly. He’s not good enough. He could improve but he’s definitely a step below someone like Diaz.

Jaja6996

Yeah but at the same time I could see us moving for another wide player depending on what happens with Salah contract talks over the summer.

erarunmohan

Is there a free trial on LFCTV GO this season so that we can watch the preseason matches?

Android17_MVP

There was last season, I hope so.

dillipkr6999

Really hoping nkunku delivers a world class performance against us in pre season with rb Leipzig playing against us. I want to see the klopp wow. Then we pay 60mil release clause next summer to replace Bobby.

Jaja6996

He apparently wants to go back to PSG if he has another year like last season I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets that move. He would be a great signing tho and would be a shame if we missed out

scuzza

Dont blame him, boy will be set for life with them

ABAZABA20

If Nkunku keeps up his form for another season we’re definitely replacing Salah with him

Faldrif

He's right footed and plays through the middle, wouldn't make sense really.

Squiggles87

Read that he signed a new four year contract this morning. Makes it less likely unless its for crazy money.

ABAZABA20

60m release clause apparently

LuisRHC

Reading some comments here got me thinking that we could lose many players next summer. Salah, Firmino, Milner, Ox, Keita, all out of contract. Gomez, Tsimikas and Kelleher I assume would be looking for more playing time. Next summer will be huge.

BriarcliffInmate

Gomez, Keita will sign new deals, no doubt. I don't think Kostas will be pushing to get out. He played a decent amount this season just gone and with 5 subs he'll get more game time, same with Joey. Kweev we'll probably have to cash in on. Next summer, I can see: Ox, Milner, Kelleher out. (Maybe Mo depending on contract) Midfielder 1, Midfielder 2, RW in. Maybe an experienced 2nd choice GK if Kweev goes, and another attacker if Mo does. Bobby will probably get offered a contract on reduced wages which I think he'd sign.

nukhraa

Out of those you mentioned, I'm most worried about losing Salah and maybe kelleher and gomez. Jury is still out on Firmino imo Milner, Keita and Ox won't be big misses if we get one decent midfielder.

Purple-Ad-1409

Keita will be staying for sure. Also there's more to the team than just a starting 11, especially with the new rule of 5 subs. They'll be big misses if we lose 3 midfielders and replace them just with 1. Squad depth is important

nukhraa

I agree squad depth is important but if you add the mins played by Keita, Milner and Ox in the league, they are a touch less than Salah - who was away at afcon for a few games. The number of players gives a false sense of comfort. Between Fab, Hendo, Thiago, Curtis, Elliott, Carvalho + one signing + one youth - we might be fine. Of course 2 mids would be better, but one new, solid one to replace the three might be enough imo.

Purple-Ad-1409

Fabinho has never played more than 30 games per season for us so he's quite injury prone. Henderson will be even older next season, how good will he be? We all know about Thiago's injury problems. Curtis Jones, to be honest hasn't been good enough and hasn't proven much so far, and the other 2 are 19 year olds We "will be fine" I agree that we could get top 4 with these players, but if we want to seriously challenge for any trophy we can't afford to get even weaker in midfield, which is the area that we struggle with the most. Keita hasn't played very well in the big games but in the second half of the season he had a good run, Klopp likes him, and from what we've read he will be offered a new contract. IMO we need atleast 1 if not 2 midfielders, and we could afford to lose Ox and Milner max

ABAZABA20

Truly next summer fc

NGog_Fan

Gomez, Milner and Keita are being offered/have already been offered new contracts

LuisRHC

Yeah Milner is until 2023. Gomez, Keita and Salah have not extended yet

Martianman97

Assuming they get all their Targets, Arsenal are building a really good team there. It's fun to mock lego man but it will be interesting to see how they get on. With the way they and Spurs under Conte are going, United have a massive task ahead to catch up with the rest of the pack

BriarcliffInmate

I don't think Arsenal are to be feared tbh. Arteta is useless, I've no clue why he's getting to spaff so much money. Spurs, I've no clue. Conte is an enigma to me, but I know he won't be there next summer. If he can win them a cup this season it's probably job done as far as everyone's concerned. Levy certainly won't back him every summer. United are miles off it. Don't see them getting near Top 4 for years tbh.

Rottedhead

I'm actually not worried about other teams getting good but more of us getting bad. I mean we can't be this amazing forever right? What is going to be the turning point?

BriarcliffInmate

Honestly, I'd say we've negotiated our way past the turning point and started to build Klopp 2.0 Arguably, post CL win in 2019 we're totally different to Klopp 1.0, it's just been a gradual change so it's not been noticeable. When you think that we've lot Sturridge, Mignolet, Karius, Origi, Lallana, Lovren, Shaqiri, Ings, Clyne etc - they were all major parts of the Klopp CL winning side, with several also winning the PL. Compare it now to players like Konate, Diaz, Thiago, Jota, Tsimikas all coming in during that time, as well as Nunez and Carvalho and Ramsay this summer. It's essentially been a gradual change of 6 or 7 of the First XI. I mean, when was the last time the OG Front 3 played together? I just looked and it was only 3 games this season when they started together, out of 60-odd. I know Bobby was injured this season and Mo/Sadio were at Afcon, but even 18 months ago you'd have expected them to play about 30 games at least. I think that shows how Klopp's evolved the team without us really noticing much.

WH6TSINANAME

Yeah we can't, soon we'll get even better.

Craft-Superb

For me the turning point already happened but I hope I’m wrong

samlfc92

Not worried about Arsenal in the slightest personally. Jesus is better than Lacazette but is still inconsistent. The rest of the rumoured signings don't improve their first 11.

Martianman97

Not worried about them at all I just think they are building a decent attacking team. With Viera, Jesus and potentially Raphina too. That's some decent acquisition

CalledIt987

You’re really underestimating how depth can work wonders. Ode had months of poor form due to being overplayed and would typically gas badly in the last 20mins of those games. Vieira coming in massively helps that. Saka had to play a huge amount of games last season as well. Jesus will definitely help up top as well. E: having said that they have Europa as well I just think they have more tools this year to win more game’s. Especially if tielemans and raphinha come in.

BriarcliffInmate

Depth can work wonders but I don't think they're set up for a slog of a season like they'll have now. They could potentially play 50-60 games this season. I don't think they're capable of that, and I genuinely don't think Arteta is a good manager either. They won't get all of Jesus, Tielemans and Raphinha as well as the CB they're looking at. If they do, they're selling a big player like Saka.

WH6TSINANAME

Huge amount of games? Arsenal only played 45 all season. Despite largely being able to focus on the league they only got as many points as we did with no defence the season before.

samlfc92

I agree re. depth but I just think there are more glaring weaknesses in the squad that they should address ahead of some of the signings they are looking to make. They had ESR as an Odegaard backup so I don't know if they really needed another number 10. Tielemans is a good player but doesn't solve the main issue they have in midfield which is a lack of physicality. Raphinha is also a quality player but I think they could spend funds better than on someone who can only really play one position and will end up as a backup to Saka in a lot of games. Unless they plan on Saka playing from the left a fair bit. Also agree that Europa League will negate a lot of the added depth. And ultimately I just think Arsenal as a club has just lost that winning mentality. Nobody in the squad really has any leadership qualities either

YellowBaboon

Thursday/Sunday is a brutal schedule. They looked good last season but let's see how they cope with Europe.

LuisRHC

And chelsea have a complete set of defenders leaving plus Lukaku and others. So the fight for 3rd and 4th will be interesting.

dillipkr6999

Spurs under Conte could match us and city.

Martianman97

Na they ain't that good. They still only have 2 players that are out level (Kane and Son)

abradley19955

We’re playing Leipzig and Salzburg next month. Seems we have a decent relationship with the red bull clubs

BriarcliffInmate

We do. Gerard Houllier basically set them up and discovered players like Sadio and Naby. But also they have generally been very easy to work with and very open about their structure setup. I seem to recall when we were building the AXA that they let us visit their place to get ideas. I don't like them as a concept - being arms of a sports drink company - but as a footballing organisation I can't fault them. They have their way of doing things and they've really hit on a successful way of doing things.

Squiggles87

Houllier represented both organisations and was key in establishing dialogue and networking between the clubs. One of his many legacies in the football world.

TheNotoriousJN

We do. When we were creating AXA training centre, Salzburg allowed us to visit theirs to get ideas of what to include. The RB clubs, for all their faults have top of the line infrastructure

abradley19955

Ah, I remember reading that article about us visiting Salzburg. Bayern was mentioned too iirc But yeah it’s good to have a relationship with both clubs for sure. Crazy amount of talent in recent years and it’ll continue no doubt

TheNotoriousJN

Exactly. They are wonderkid factories. Mané, Keita, Ibou all came through them. Then you have guys like Werner, Haaland, Upamecano who have played there. And an abundance of talent in the form of Nkunku, Mukiele, Konrad Leimer as well as youngsters like Benjamin Sesko, Nico Seiwald and Luca Sukic. Having good relations can lead to favourable transfers

MartinPerrott

Nkunku 2023 baby

dillipkr6999

New contract €60mil release clause more chances we pay that.

MartinPerrott

Cheap as chips really if he continues his current output

dillipkr6999

Last season was something special for him. Personally don't think he would match that record upcoming season with world cup in winter he would be burnt out later half.

MartinPerrott

Potentially! Same could be said of Nunez and we just lumped on him lol

abradley19955

Salzburg have some really talented young players that I’m sure we have interest in Luka Sucic and Benjamin Sesko are two names I’ve seen linked with us recently

BriarcliffInmate

Only issue with Salzburg is it's harder for them to get a work permit as the Austrian league is a bit underweighted compared to other European leagues. Arguably they need to be playing every single game for Salzburg and playing for their country too if they want to get a GBE to play in the UK.

Rohearts

Sucic would be a really good addition to midfield.

No-Shoe5382

Apparently Sterlings prefered move was to come back to Liverpool and both clubs just immediately said no lol

malushanks95

I remember in a recent interview where he spoke about Liverpool and how his eldest daughter is still a Liverpool fan, in that interview I felt he wanted to come back to redeem himself but I’m glad we said no.

Macshlong

I saw this but didn’t link because it’s sports bible. I really like to think it’s true though.

whoaaa_O

Alexa, play see you again

TheNotoriousJN

Nkunku re-signed with Leipzig. 60m release clause...wouldnt be a terrible backup option if Bellingham doesnt happen next year. If he keeps up the trajectory he's on 60m would be a steal

KaijinnGarou

Nkunku suits our play style too, guy is on a form, i hope we can snatch him for our future

gugly

Lots of clubs will be lining up at that price. Meaning his wage will probably be far to high for us to consider joining the bidding war

zigooloo

He would be more of a Salah replacement than a Bellingham alternative.

YellowBaboon

The Bellingham alternative in terms of who we want to splash the cash on.

GTACOD

Firmino, Mané and Salah all outperformed both their xG and their xA in their first season for us.

nukhraa

I'm guessing jota might have too right? Man was scoring from everywhere before he got injured.

GTACOD

Nope. Beat xG but didn't get a single assist, at least going off understat.

nukhraa

Oh i didn't see xA in there.

abradley19955

Hope we draw Bayern in the CL this season and pump them tbh

KaijinnGarou

İ want fucking madrid mate, i have soooo many reasons to hate that Club, not because we lose 2 finals againts them. They were the one who start this unbalancing transfer paying fees, they are absolute shithousery time wasting machines, dont like their play style too much defending and mother fucker are insanely lucky too

Purple-Ad-1409

Enough of Madrid and Ancelotti, no thanks

t-74000

Yup, they are our kryptonite. The only team with more CL magic then us. They wizards and we just the apprentices.

sankers23

I wanted them season just gone for revenge. Now i never want to play them again. We could have prime Gerrard Messi Ronaldo all playing for us and they could have a team of Lukaku's and still magic up a win. since Klopp got us back into the CL the only team to knock us out in 4/5 seasons is from Madrid. Only time we didnt get knocked out we won it.

theloneavocado

I hope we get dortmund and the trend of signing players who play well against us there continues But bayern would also be great!

LuisRHC

And then we get who from bayern? 😂

HarbyFullyLoaded_12

Can we not go through with this again next year with Mo?

KaijinnGarou

Probably we will, we have a strict wage structure. They could all ready finish this contract thing with Mo if they really want it but no.

Silantro-89

This summer Minamino, Origi & Mane have left. Next summer Firmino & Salah might go. I feel like that was our entire forward options for 18 months to 2 years not so long ago.

Supkingz123

I had to un-follow Mane on the gram, it was too much pain seeing him in the wrong red.

DrAgOnLoLDoTA

And Bobby

CorztR

jota was absolutely on fire for that first part of the season, hope he can do it again. with him on the left and darwin in the middle + our CBs we can be totally deadly in the air.

BriarcliffInmate

I honestly think moving Mane to CF was a genius move from Klopp to improve his form and still get to use Diaz, but it had a knock-on effect of making Jota lose a bit of confidence. He went from first choice striker to 2nd despite doing nothing wrong. I'm presuming Klopp told him it was only a short term thing with Mane going this summer. I could see him getting used as a front 2 with Nunez sometimes. Jota's 100% a confidence/rhythm player, and I think a pre-season and a nice long holiday will do wonders for him.

InfamousJackfruit672

yeah. Jota might have tendencies towards being on fire in bursts and then slowing down. I think he and Nunez might clash a little because they both want to operate in the same areas though. When Jota is good as a LW it's ussually because he plays it as a CF that drifts out wide as well. That being said, Jota is quite clever and probably capable of finding pockets of space to move into to, to exploit the attention Nunez draws, but might take some time.

dillipkr6999

He was really good when he played behind Jimenez in wolves we have seen at times klopp used him as part of 4 with a traditional CF like Nunez. Jota could be a surprise many defence.

taf3991

I think It was more that the first half of the season he was our first choice striker. and he was scoring/assisting frequently, When Diaz came in and cemented that LW spot and Mane came back and went straight in at striker It just unsettled Jota imo. He went from starting upfront every game to either playing on the left or right or not starting the majority of games. I personally don't rate Jota at all on the wing either. Although he somewhat resembles that unorthodox dribbling style that Suarez had, He's not the best dribbler and he isn't as quick as Mane, Salah, Diaz etc. To me he's just a striker not a winger. Which is unfortunate because I think he will be one to miss out a lot next season.

BriarcliffInmate

I honestly can see Jota playing in a front 2 with Nunez quite regularly. I think that'd work well. I also think Jota could play behind the Front 3 fairly easily. He's quite versatile and with 5 subs we'll be able to use him in all sorts of ways.

taf3991

I’d bet my house that we won’t play a front 2. It just won’t happen. And I love Jota but him playing behind the front 3 isn’t a possibility. He’s not technically good enough imo he’s a proper number 9 and he’s class at it. But if we decided to go with a number 10 behind the front 3. It’d be Firmino, Carvalho or Elliot imo.

JokeSalty

Don’t think he’s good enough out wide tbh. He’s not explosive and good enough of a dribbler to play there imo. He’s much better at centre forward where he can use his elite positioning and instinct to poach for goals

taf3991

This. I feel a bit sorry for Jota tbh. He's defo underappreciated by a lot of our fan base, And think It was a bit harsh for him to lose his place to Mane last year when he was 2nd top scorer in the PL at the time. And now seems like he's gonna lose his place again to Nunez. People forget how important some of his goals were last season. Not just goals in big games againts big teams, or in the quarter and semis of the league cup. But It felt like he scored 1st near enough every time he scored. which to me is the most important goal you can score, especially when your going for every competition and every game feels like a final. Not a bad problem to have too many good options I suppose. I just fear that If he gets more reduced playing time It could force him to leave at some point.

BriarcliffInmate

I don't think Nunez will displace him. I think there's a formation where we'll get to use 4 attackers, as well as a formation where they can play up front as lone CFs.

Teb-41

Yeah, with Diogo and Darwin upfront we'd also have the build up of a dead horse, so yeah

Bamfandro

Yeah we can’t go from some of the highest level of trickery, unpredictability and creativity in Mo to just Diaz. Would have loved us to look at Raphinha tbh, especially if he’s going to Arsenal who could have a massively improved team next year.

AdikkuChan

Imagine the horse comparisons it'll spawn though. Beautiful backside for defence, beautiful body for the midfield Carcass for the head

crowkiller9

Agreed. His dip in form after his injury wasn't talked as much as Salah's but I'm sure he'll definitely kick on. Still feel his best position is central but can certainly do a job wide.

Alexisreddit516

Interesting to see how the boys performs next season, as long as Klopp still here there's always hope.

BriarcliffInmate

I mean, I don't think we're going to turn crap!

RobotPizzaMaker

I just want to see entertaining football. That's why I follow this sport. Winning is fantastic, losing out sucks, but it's part of competing. My goal for us this season is as always Top 4. It's never a guarantee the way clubs are reinforcing, and it matters a ton to our club. Anything we do beyond that is a big bonus. I'd prefer if we bolstered our defensive midfield cover, but I also understand if we have deals planned for next summer and we don't want to block any of those by bringing in a 2nd or 3rd choice now. If injuries don't do a real number on us, we have a good squad.

malushanks95

It’s a shame we only had 6 months with the fab 5, it would have been really good to see them play together for atleast 2-3 seasons.

MisterS1997

That’s the thing klopp had pep level depth for like 6 months and nearly won everything. He’d win every trophy if he had pep level backing and squad depth. He’s like a sir Alex regen even the way they attack with fullbacks is the same

tallkidinashortworld

Who do you think will be taking 10 and 18? (Albeit a little too soon for both)

HoudiniBeats

Might be too soon but as far as I know Carvalho hasn’t been assigned a number yet?

ragnareal

Guys....Minamino transfer to Monaco done??

Android17_MVP

Yea, medical soon

JokeSalty

Don’t think it’s been confirmed yet but it’s pretty much done

carrotcakeblack

Really hope Edwards moves abroad instead of another PL rival. What he did for us was truly unique and it would be a shame to see United or Chelsea benefit from it too.
