So when do we think Antony will be announced?
Can we stop with the "news" about how the French authorities suck? I feel like being mad about it is a good distraction for some due to the loss. But honestly, I'm over it and the entire Liverpool feed is filled with it when I'd rather it be filled with transfer rumors and great plays from our players on international duty.
Ever since finding out about my probable French heritage:
* Got screwed over by a French hotel so had to find a hostel as all that's left (not a scam if it's totally predictable)
* Been on outer edge of a French 🐽 teargassing
* Had a French bloke gesture his balls @ me to ask a swimwear-related question
* World Champion 🇫🇷 NT lose their 1st match since I heard the news
FFS lads why's this all happening *after* I've become one of you, kinda? Sacre bleu...
Because you're Cave Johnson's lemons
Sorry couldn't help it haha
BRB gonna go burn France’s house down
Has Klopp given any tactical analysis yet as to why he thinks we lost the final?
Miguel Delaney reporting United want Nunez but he prefers a move to Liverpool. Claims benfica want 100 million though lmao absolutely no chance we touch him for anywhere near that
[The Liverpool effect!](https://twitter.com/chartdata/status/1532710243087572994?s=21&t=Z5QfSC3YHi9It9Zd2-Mj1g)
Any idea when the club plans the official announcement for the away and 3rd kits?
Rafael Leao is definitely a player I’d be looking at. It’d be really hard to get him from Milan this summer but he’s looked really explosive and exciting whenever I’ve watched them this season
Isn't there a 150m release clause for him?
No idea tbh
Think city are in for him unfortunately. Will drive the price too high.
Anyone reliable reporting that? Wouldn’t shock me like but I haven’t seen it anywhere myself
Google "city leao" will bring up a bunch of articles and rumours etc. Agent is also that cunt mendes.
Nothing concrete ie Tier 1 for them afaik, but makes a lot of sense if they lose sterling, Jesus and mahrez soon.
Ah right. Wouldn’t shock me if they were in for him considering his talent and there’s been talk around one or two of their forwards leaving. Milan would want crazy money this summer though you’d imagine
afaik he has a release clause of 150m. so, yeah.
Contract is up in 2024. I’m sure we’re monitoring the situation
I'm surprised we aren't linked to Lauturo Martinez. He's decnet in the build up and has goals in him.
He's 24 and already established but still has potential to improve
There's not many van dijks in the prem. It is a worry though. His physicality but he can always improve. Bit like salah and firmino who improved their upper body strength to suit the prem.
Thank god nike kept our kit simple this year the template they have used for others is fucking awful the Barca one looks like a cheap knockoff you’d buy.
There are some bangers, but for the majority Nike puts so little effort into the design.
it’s the same template
Hello lads and ladies, I made this silly game as part of a course I\`m taking. I thought you might like it. Let me know what you think.
Edit: I think you can only play it from a PC, not sure if it\`s smartphone friendly.
Maybe because it’s Reddit, but why is every brain fart that escapes from the heads and mouths of La Liga club presidents endlessly reported on? Even if it contradicts something they said yesterday?
Every single day there’s a new quote from Laporta, Tebas or Perez about some drivel regarding money, players or salaries. It’s insane.
To this day I’ve no idea what Tom Werner, Billy Hogan or Mike Gordon actually sound like. I’ve only heard snippets of John Henry from interviews and….. ‘apologies’. But at least they’re not the source of endless media takes analysing their every word on every topic.
Fsg set the wage structure in line with what they think is sustainable for the club to afford. We don't have the state finances to offer £600k to anyone just cos City/PSG do it, nor yet have quite the commercial sponsorship that United still do to waste on write-offs like Pogba. It's frustrating but there, even when our elite players are underpaid in comparison to what others of their calibre get paid elsewhere.
That structure isn't going to change any time soon. Much as it puts us at a disadvantage.
I don't know how true it is of Mane getting paid less than Keita or Ox (latter I'd regard that a mistake of giving Ox too high a wage in hindsight) but I hope that Salah at least gets flexibility enough to find agreement. I consider him harder to replace of the two.
There has been a structural shift in wages for top players since the time FSG set the wage structure. I understand the point and do want the club to be sustainable but it risks us being starved of top players or become a feeder club again.
Our income has also seen a structural transformation. LFC the brand, by dint of its success, is now more able to demand the highest commercial value. So my question is, if income has structurally changed, as in we are qualitatively in a better place to make more money for the same things, would it not make sense for player wages to adjust to the new normal of high wages?
Though there are obviously arguments against this. It's actually true that those clubs that are responsible for the new normal are either bankrolled endlessly or living beyond their means. It's a tough call and one that FSG is rightly taking time to measure, because once it is done it becomes a culture and impossible to revert. Look what happens at United with garbage players earning more than our champions. So, yes, there's a lot to be debated here. Let's see what happens.
Our revenue will be higher than Utd this year. Gap in commercial revenue narrowing significantly every year too. We’re no paupers
What is the commercial revenue for us compared to united
We need some new No.9s somewhere.
Replacing the guaranteed 50 plus goals Salah and Mane provide in the space of 2 years isn't going to be easy.
We've been smart in the recruitment of Diaz and Jota to start the succession planning in advance. We'll just have to hope that these two are capable of matching these numbers, whilst finding another one or two to share the burden.
Jota needs to work on his consistency and he's always been a streaky player. Diaz has been pretty faultless so far. We just need to keep getting him in goal scoring positions. He's got everything in his locker for his numbers to ramp up. I'm pretty optimistic we can ride out the Salah and Mane departures, but we should give Klopp and the coaching team time to get it right. It's a big job and there will likely be some drop off as the team is restructured.
If it’s true Inter need to sell some player maybe we should go for Martinez or Barella
I'm not sure what Martinez's play style is like or how it'd fit but I'd snatch their arm off for Barella.
strong, presses well, likes to break offside trap type player with questionable conversion rate at goal i believe
I remembered last season's window hearing about us being interested in Barella on the radio.
What do you guys think about the Pulisic rumour ? That Klopp really admires him? Seems to be more pages reporting it this morning
There's much to like about pulisic. Shame about his injury record (and his chels affiliation)
His underlying analytics actually suggest he was one of the top 2 Chelsea attackers this season. He just can’t stay fit. Replacing mané who’s essentially never injured for someone who’s always injured probably isn’t the best.
Injury prone isn't he? Shame - I've always thought he's wasted at Chelsea.
It's still strange that so many people will remember the Gerrard slip and it still comes up today all the time. JT changes the order of the pens takers so he can be the last one. JT slip they lose yet this isn't mentioned at all the same amount as Gerrard.
Then dude didn't even play in the next final and came out in a full kit. How on earth can a Chelsea fan say anything to us..that their best player.
We are villain of r/soccer after all
Of the UK as well
Being linked with every left winger in the world on news of Mané almost certainly leaving is already getting a bit tiring. It's a forward who can play centrally that we need.
In Paris last weekend I saw someone at the fan park they had a white thiago tshirt on but the logo was like the black/green Nike airmax but it said thiago instead. I asked him where he got it but can’t remember where he said I’ve been trying to find it online but can’t. Anyone any ideas?
Did you see the Real fans?
See about 3 around the Eiffel Tower on Sunday haha
Why do people continue to demand that we sell Mo this summer?
He's already stated that he's not leaving this summer, and you can't sell someone who doesn't want to be sold.
Mo holds all the cards with his contract negotiations, either the club pays him what he wants, or he leaves on a free next summer to someone who will.
Probably to recoup some money for him and for us to dictate where he goes. His agent came out and said he will be looking to stay in the PL. so for us to let him run his contract down and then potentially go to city/United or chelsea would be insanity.
Tbh I absolutely despise the transfer window since the seasons finished I’ve seen us linked with about 50 players. I don’t take no notice of any of it. I try avoid it all until the season starts 😂
Not up to us to dictate where he goes. He can simplify refuse offers to go
Same! I don’t like the speculation and comparisons. I’m interested in who is a Liverpool player and not who could potentially be one or not be one anymore. It’s more tolerable in January because matches are happening, but I always dread the summer.
I get why they want to sell him this summer, but it seems that the people who are demanding we sell him aren't up to speed on the situation, that or don't know how transfers work.
I hope it's the former rather than the later, because I've seen way too many people saying that we should sell this summer.
I’d rather keep him and hopefully in the next year he signs a new deal. But to potentially lose him to a PL rival the year after we’ve lost Mane who gets 20 goals a season. Won’t be ideal at all.
Idk, it seems pretty cut and dry that money is Mo's main motivation(which I don't blame him), I guess we'll see what happens, a lot can happen between now and a year's time.
Bowen is closest thing to salah at the moment. He will have two years left in his contract next season which puts us in a much better negotiation position. I think we could spend that even if salah go for free. So i would rather keep him for the season unless klopp thinks otherwise.
Sure, but there's no guarantee that he would want to come here, especially if he knows that if he does come here and produces, he's not going to be rewarded for his efforts.
I understand both sides in these negotiations, but I can't help but think that FSG are shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to future incoming players. I understand that we have a wage structure and that it keeps the club financially stable, but it also potentially makes us a stepping stone club rather than a destination for top talent.
I just saw a list of player wages and van dijk is 13th and highest paid liverpool player. Now I don't know how accurate the list is but lets say it is. Guess who the 12 players before him play for. Its either city, chelsea and united. Two sugar daddy clubs (chelsea was until this month) and united who were criticized heavily for giving out those contracts in the first place. We should not pay salah 400k because city pays KDB that. What happens when city pays the next big player 600k.
Give Salah a base 300k, every goal he scores for a given week, salary goes up 100k
One way is to rebalance the wage budget. Have a higher top tier for 4-5 players, a middle tier for the rest of the first XI and be ruthless with the wages for fringe/bench players.
VVD tier (ie world class, 55+ games/season: 450k cap
Jota/Diaz tier (improving/young, 40+ games/season): 200k cap
Keita/Ox/Minamino tier (rotational/cup players, 15-20 games/season): 50k cap
Easier said than done of course. It'll require a great academy to have a constant inflow for the bottom tier and virtually no transfer spend on the players beyond the first 15 or so.
I get that, but us standing firm on our principles isn't going to keep players from wanting big paydays, especially when the City's, PSG'S, Real's and soon to be Newcastle's of the world will be waiting with open arms and open wallets.
It's very much a catch-22. Unfortunately this seems to be where the footballing world is headed.
If my memory is correct gini was earning 3.7 mil a year at Liverpool. Now he is getting around 8 mil at psg. That's double the wages, there is no competing with that.
Right, but there doesn't seem like there's any stopping it either. 🤷♂️
I guess some people are worried that we won’t have money to buy a replacement next summer without getting a fee.
I feel that, but it is what it is. Mo is more or less holding the club for ransom(which is well within his rights), it's just a shame that he's apparently willing to bin his legacy for money.
. It is what it is. We signed a contract with him and if he is performing in games and training then he plays for us until it is up.
We can hope he has his best season ever next season because he is hyper motivated to get the best deal he can.
And also the nature of the market is that per definition the potential buyers will only pay what they feel his last year of contract is worth and that might not match we think keeping him one more season is worth.
while yes, only a handful of players actually reject these forced transfers and is the ultimate move that burns bridges between parties.
In the event that that happens, could you imagine if Klopp/the club went scorched earth and benched him? It'll never happen, and hopefully both parties figure something out but maaan, it seems like this could get real ugly real quick.
i honestly can imagine Klopp benching him purely because if and this is a big if, we decided to sell him this has been approved by Klopp. Klopp is quite ruthless to anyone who is outside of his plans.
So either way i see him leaving this year or extending.
I think this strategy only works if we are getting goals, and winning games. Ngl, I'd love to see it(if it actually came to it). "Nobody puts LFC in a corner!"
I doubt a lack of goals will be an issue if I'm being honest
Is anyone having trouble activating their membership on the site? I go to the link they’ve provided in the membership pack but instead of being able to enter my activation code, it just links me back to buying the membership pack again. It’s quite frustrating.
Insomnia all night, it's now 6:30. Guess I'll sleep tomorrow. Or when I'm dead
I'm bored. I want football back.
Weekends are empty. And we got used to watching matches midweek also. There's nothing to look forward to :(
