Thoughts on Ivan Toney as Mane replacement/front 3 addition? Prem proven and a Liverpool fan (not that it’s important).

Purple-Ad-1409

Maybe as an Origi replacement

swingtothedrive

Not good enough

SingSing19

Which are the most commonly sung chants at LFC games?

macNy

Allez Allez Allez, Walk on, Jurgen is a red, Mo Salah Egyptian King, He wears the # 20, Sim Senor......I'll stop there I geuss lol it would just go on and on

SingSing19

It’s hard to hear for me as a newer fan exactly what the chants are when watching on TV. But I want to learn as many of them as I can. But didn’t know if there were some that they don’t sign anymore that i shouldn’t learn

macNy

Look up on YouTube it’s mostly always the same ones except “I’m so glad that Jurgen is a red” and the Diogo Jota song, those are new from this year.

SingSing19

Thanks mate

HunterWindmill

Oi imagine if Jürgen gets Lewandoski

KloppOnKloppOn

I can't believe Scotland has a match tmrw wtf that's insane

richardfitzwell822

I’ve decided that the right to lose a Champions League Final with 10 or so shots on target speaks volumes about this club and makes me really happy. If the FA Cup isn’t good enough for you, I’m sure a weekly trophy grab in F1 would suit you better and would be happy to help you transition away from speaking anything negative about the greatest club in England.

Dangsta_03

If Mane leaves Liverpool i leave this earth Edit : Was just joking, sorry if i upset anyone

reehdus

First liverpool fan in space confirmed

HunterWindmill

Don't do that please

#**tl;dr Speculation: 2022-23 and 2023-24 could be Liverpool's final two chances to try and win the Quadruple again due to the new CL format potentially affecting the EFL Cup from 2024 onwards.** Does anyone think this ridiculous expansion of the Champions League format in 2024-25 season onwards will impact the relevance of the EFL Cup? The new CL format will replace the group stage with 6 matches with the "Swiss Model League" with 8 matches. Meaning a PL team will need to play 15-17 matches to get to the final, instead of the current 13 matches. (15 matches if you finish 1st to 8th in the table. If you finish 9th to 24th, you play 2 more play-off matches) To win the EFL Cup, which we did last season, a team playing in Europe will start from the third round and play 6 matches total, including 2-legged semi-finals. To win the FA Cup, a PL team will play at least 6 matches and at most 8 matches (1 replay each for Round 3 and Round 4). This season, we played all the matches possible across all 4 competitions (63). We were lucky to avoid needing to play replays in FA Cup R3 and R4, otherwise it will be 65. Under the new format, if a team goes all the way in all 4 competitions, they will have played 38+15+6+6=65 matches minimum, 38+17+8+6=69 matches maximum. Something will have to give, and it has to be the EFL Cup. Maybe they will change the rules so that teams playing in Europe will be exempt from the EFL Cup? If that becomes the case, then 2022-23 and 2023-24 will be the last two seasons a PL team in Europe has the chance to win the Quadruple. After that, all teams will only have a maximum of three trophies they can possibly win. (Not counting "Super trophies" like the UEFA Super Cup or Club World Cup, we're just talking about the "regular" trophies that is available every season )

No-Economist3226

We'll probably see more of what united did in 99-00 and teams just dropping out of a cup entirely.

KloppOnKloppOn

Wouldn't be shocked at all I'd privately klopp was like ok yea that was special but we are never doing that again

8u11etpr00f

Tbh I think the number one priority this summer should be a dynamic midfielder who can create, it'd be a bonus if they can also score goals. Currently there's far too much weight on Trent's shoulders to be our creative outlet, as we saw particularly highlighted in the CL final. Another option would give us more flexibility in our approach as well as make Trent more effective because the opponents have more threats to consider. Furthermore it would create issues for opponents doubling up on Salah as we would have greater ability to punish it. I also think with the way we started last season the original plan was to deploy the RCM in our system as a Mezzala, it's how we played with Elliott pre-season and he was even starting games in the league before his horror injury. I truly think a creative RCM is the cherry on top of Klopp's long-term strategic plan. I'm sure our scouts will have some great targets lined up but on paper milinkovic-savic seems like the cream of the crop. I must admit I've also always thought that twat Bernardo would fit like a glove in our RCM slot, but that will never happen for obvious reasons.

UneventfulAnimal

I definitely agree with this, but think it’s really important that they are a goal threat both through taking the ball forward and the edge of the box shots that Keita and Hendo constantly overhit. An 8 that’s a scoring threat freezes uncertain defenders, opens up space with dribbles, and draws out defenders who can’t risk giving them a clear shot at goal. Our front three, especially Salah, were mobbed throughout the second half of the season in part because the opposition knew the midfielders presented little to no threat.

HuddzHD

I think the Mezzala role is the next step. But the role made our midfield look weak when we couldn’t form the Thiago/Fabinho double pivot due to injuries. This is why I think it’s more important to go for a player who can play both the 6/8. Look at the players we have been linked with in midfield. Tchouameni and Sangaré for example. Can do both the 6 and the 8 well and both excel at playing in a double pivot. When we were playing that system we dropped points where we shouldn’t have (partially due to injuries but the point still remains) It also has to be said Klopp REALLY believes in Elliott I think he’s the man for the role and I think the system was tailored to his future in this team. I see him being used more next season and he’s clearly been trusted in the big games like Inter and Chelsea. I think Carvalho could play the role too as could Jones and Keita. I think for that reason you don’t buy in that Bernardo Silva type player because well we have one and if it’s not working you buy in next summer when Henderson’s legs might be gone. A Bellingham perhaps.

asso19

Why are we not looking at Konrad Laimer? German,Press machine and a bit more dynamic than Hendo. Only negative is he is lacking in goals

IntolerantInagress

So I’m trying to search for the goalkeeper kit for next season and it’s nowhere to be found. Anyone have an idea what happened to it?

coronacatharsis

Thoughts on Nkunku?

luke363636

He had an unreal season but would cost an arm and a leg

HuddzHD

Yes

NexusMinds

100% yes. Should go in hard for him.

No-Economist3226

Not keen.

AJRgeezer

Ideal mane replacement but would cost around 80 mil and he's been twerking for psg recently.

Lopsidedconsultant

Mane leaving just has me feeling down. I know he might not be the beast he was in the future but he was the first big piece of the puzzle that became Jurgen's project. And I know they don't play together much more but this would mark the end of what was the best front 3 in the world for some time.

asso19

Unpopular opinion...I'd prefer Salah to leave instead of Mane. He was one of those Klopp signings that made a big impact from the first game. He gives too much energy and press to the team too.

darkmoonuser

Although it would break my heart to see him go, I really like Mane as a person and obviously as a player and wish him all the best. There's s lot of chatter about the Bayern management and their background treatment of players, especially after those comments from Lewandowski. Hope he isn't walking into a shit show.

coronacatharsis

Thoughts on Martin Terrier?

calooie

Is anyone else pretty much fine with Mane leaving? He hasn't had a good season on the whole, was dire before Christmas and has only had a few great games since. Stat wise he hasn't been elite for 18 months. Our attack failed to score a goal in three finals, 330 minutes total of football. Its genuinely not good enough and of the current front 3 Mane is the most dispensable.

globocide

He was second favourite for the ballon d'or. What are you talking about?

Lopsidedconsultant

On the contrary. Mane was our best forward after December. The AFCON and WC qualifier seemed to have taken its toll on Mo who seemed a shell of the version we saw in the first half of the season. Plus, Mane offers variety. He can play in any position in the front and was so good playing down the middle. This allows other players to play in their position of strength. Example, Luis Diaz could play his preferred LW position because Mane could play in the middle. Mo is set on the right wing and doesn't really play anywhere else. Then there's the emotional attachment I have with Mane since he was the first big signing we made under Klopp. And he played an immense role in helping others settle in (looking specifically at Naby and Mo)

Relevant-Door1453

Yes I'm fine with him leaving because it seems to be what he wants. I feel like we need a refresh also. But... Your comments on his performance this season are just whack man. Our guy has stepped up hugely since AFCON. Adapting his own playstyle to suit our current needs and then scoring some massively important goals alongside being the lead scorer of non penalty goals other than Salah in the PL since we got Salah... Nah. We're gonna miss the guy.

calooie

Before Christmas and for the last half of last season he was poor, some decent games after AFCON but ultimately not when it counted. Two league assists all season? In this team? Come on. Diaz plays his best position better and we have a strong chance of finding someone who can play the middle better. Off the pitch I love the guy as much as anyone, but if we're going cold mechanical analysis mode then I'm happy to sell.

sonaldofds

Don’t even feel like watching the French open cause paris is fuckingn cursed

Literally wouldn’t want either of them. Old, high wages, a lot of drama and no longer the players they were

JokeSalty

I’m happy with Gerrard thanks

Pebbicle

I don't get this argument. Getting an amazing player that's past his prime is only a technical point.

MRJC93

When you play too much FIFA.

agntkay

God please no to both, maybe Neymar as he can work hard but he's not worth the drama and wages and all the baggage to his limited output.

KloppOnKloppOn

Peter Drury to NBC for EPL is the first W America as a country we have gotten in years lmao

teenygattina

Jim Beglin posted this on twitter so I guess it’s real and I’m a very happy camper. I hate Arlo white with the fire of a thousand suns. For lots of reasons

Lopsidedconsultant

Can someone tell me why so much hate for Arlo? I think he was decent but Peter is obviously a whole different level.

KloppOnKloppOn

There was also a thing where he barely or not at all addressed any off the saudi arabia stuff with Newcastle then got mad at a fan on twitter about it. You'll be able to find it pretty easily if you care.

teenygattina

It’s his blatant bias and talking too much for me. Maybe NBC can dispatch with Lee Dixon too. I’d also love to see Derek Rae on NBC. I thought he did a really good job at the Euros last year, but I believe he’s tied to the bundesliga coverage on ESPN.

JokeSalty

Crazy how Matip went through the whole season without picking up an injury. Compared to other seasons where he was one of our most injury prone players

AdikkuChan

Haha everyone did their best to not jinx it, but now that the season's over we can be truly amazed that Matip has stayed fit

lopsiness

A post a while back talked about some stats that the club was using to determine when risk of injury was high. They've used that to provide more tailored training and rest for the players like Matip who pick up injured more often. Pretty proprietary for now, but sounds really interesting and clearly it worked.

johny67876

Klopp managed his minutes

nask00

I was thinking about this the whole season, but was scared to say it, because he might get injured right after that

JokeSalty

Me too! same with Naby

clitoral_obligations

Watched the game in Lisbon. Reds in the extreme minority whilst hordes of plastic Madrid fans swarmed the bars. Was particularly appalled by English people supporting Madrid with kits on, singing derogatory Liverpool chants and throwing drinks. I would go as far to say they were hooligans. Just want to say fuck the rest of England and particularly Sheffield Wednesday fans. Keep it scouse everyone and continue not supporting any other team - including England.

[deleted]

No wonder Sheffield Wednesday are so shit and have not returned to the top flight since fucking off nearly 2 decades ago. Even Forest have returned and they are still in the 3rd tier of English football. May these cunts continue to rot there.

Plenty_Sound_8425

We are cursed against Real.

lelibertaire

Before 2014, I think we had never lost to them. Since then...

epochwin

Weirdly it felt like their year. It's like us in 2005 against Milan or Chelsea winning against the odds against Barca and then Bayern in the final in 2012.

Relevant-Door1453

Lewa talk .. A 33 year old on massively inflated wages here. Seems like the anti Liverpool signing.

socialerrors

100%

GTACOD

It's not like Thiago was a typical signing either but we signed him anyway because he's that good. Lewandoski is better.

HuddzHD

Think I was for it but then I seen how little he presses. No chance

WH6TSINANAME

If they were in the CL it's a united signing.

Relevant-Door1453

More Cavani than Robin Van Persie imo

nask00

Imagine how much he is going to score with the chances we create, even if it is going to be just for 2 seasons

Jaja6996

It is but not many other forwards actually available who are as proven I want us to bring in someone who’s potentially going to be hear for years but the impact Lewa could have for 2 years is worth it more than paying something like 80m for a forward like Nunez

No-Economist3226

A massive part of, if not all, the transfer fee subsidised with a player going in the opposite direction, and signing a player who wants to leave bayern (leaving them no negotiating leverage) and klopp likes. Seems like a liverpool signing.

Relevant-Door1453

We haven't signed a single player over the age of 30 since Ragnar Klavan.

Sinistrait

Yeah but tbf at that time Thiago was also an exception to our transfer policy. I highly doubt Lewandowski wants to come to Liverpool, but if there was a chance you just know that the club will definitely consider him.

Relevant-Door1453

I just... Don't think we do consider it. FSG don't even want to retain our *own* players of that age. Let alone bringing in someone on big wages for two years at the age of 33. It just isn't how we do things.

Relevant-Door1453

Goalkeeping cover being the exception*

ForresterAsh1669

Apart from the interest in Tchouameni, not much else is known about our transfer plans this summer. I don't know whether to be excited or concerned

No-Economist3226

We, as a fanbase, should know better than to be concerned about our transfer business.

brush85

That wont stop some throwing a tantrum within a couple of weeks

bucajack

The French are absolutely botching their response to the final debacle. If there is one club you don't make baseless claims about fan behavior about it's Liverpool. The club and the people will hound you for the rest of your days to demand the truth.

No-Economist3226

Adama traore is still available. Hopefully someone in the PL signs him so another team in PL can take points off city.

bucajack

It's bullshit

ForresterAsh1669

Relevant-Door1453

grovercleveland2

Lowkey want that klopp lewa reunion

epochwin

Posted this on another thread. But I'd love to see us get Gundogan here as well. So Gundogan, Lewa and the one we're always linked with, Reus to reunite the gang.

circa_1996

Gabriel Martinelli as a Mane replacement? Klopp clearly loves him, he’s hard working, rapid, can finish, play LW and ST, young, ‘prem proven’ and high potential. Arsenal won’t want to sell but he’d surely would be tempted for Champions League football.

No-Economist3226

Might be tempting as a further backup, but for the first team as mane's direct replacement, I'd want someone more proven.

Boshva

Imo its a good shout. And Arsenal wants to buy Jesus. We have Diaz, Jota, Salah until he eases in. Mane was very raw in the beginning.

No-Economist3226

Mane was signed when we were a europa league team. We're now a team who is expected to get 90+ points, and has reached 3 champions league finals in 5 years. At that point, players with potential was probably highlighted on our scouting board. Now we'll need proven players at the top level.

Boshva

We dont have the money to act like Real, City or PSG.

No-Economist3226

Gone from one extreme to another. Prince to pauper. We paid what seemed like massively over the odds for jota (even though it proved not to be), and paid 40m for ox (even though we thought he'd be better). We're not real, city or psg, but we're not broke either.

socialerrors

And we didn't get to the level we are at by trying to be them either. We have to trust the system in place at Liverpool. It got us to where we are now. There will always be people who think they know better, it's just insane to me how quickly people are willing to dismiss it.

Stuarridge

We had Calvin Harris play for us under the parade. Its actually really cool. Way bigger name than who ever had the pre game show in the final lol

RedDreadsComin

Camila Cabello is arguably a bigger name than Calvin Harris in the mainstream, ESPECIALLY amongst Latinos. That Havana song did NUMBERS. Edit; After thinking, Calvin is definitely bigger and I’m being silly. But she At least isn’t a nobody.

Stuarridge

Calvin Harris has x number of bangers, and has been relevant way longer than her.

RedDreadsComin

Yeah I had my recency goggles on, hence my edit. My issue stems from me attributing some of his (and other EDM artists) well known songs to the vocalist featured on them. Literally learned today that Slide is his song and not Frank Ocean’s lol

PrestigiousAvocado21

Guess this is another reminder that I'm old now as I have no idea who the fuck Calvin Harris is

Stuarridge

Hes a dj/edm artist. He made One Kiss with Dua Lipa aswell

PrestigiousAvocado21

Another artist/song I had no idea about until the team started singing it tbh

whoaaa_O

Calvin Harris and Dua on next year's parade. Trent, time to slide into her DMs and hook the club up!

Episode 1 of the new Obi-Wan show was some of the worst acting/set design/camera work/script work I have ever seen in my life.

ForresterAsh1669

So it's staying true to the prequals I see

MartinPerrott

I think this thread has to be football related. But with that said, wait until you see episode 2 lol

HowdyDooder

Obiwan would have been amazing at free kicks. We need more Jedi scouts.

whoaaa_O

"That was not the offside you saw." "It was not offside that I saw" "You will give us a penalty" "I will give you penalty."

aghashayan

This is my attempt to explain why we lost the final : We have 2 main ways of scoring, moving the ball around to create space, or winning the ball back in dangerous areas. Against a talented and focused team like Madrid, they won't give us space, we don't have a dominant specialist ST. Time passes, we get frustrated, we increase the risk to win the ball in opponent's half. Now this is where we lose : this phase will finish in one of these two ways: 1) We win the ball off of Modric or Kroos in their half 2) They capitalize on ocean of space behind and small number of defenders. That's why I think even though we were unlucky, our strategy still gives less than a 50% chance to win. A great team capitalizng on loads of space and short number of defenders is quite more likely than their world class mids making a mistake in their own half. So in a nutshell, we either have to score from half chances we get in tiny amount of space we have, or we win the ball from world class mids in their own half, or we lose.

HowdyDooder

What strategy would you have done? I do think we suffered from fatigue and a general long-running issue with the lack of attacking penetration from our midfield (which in turn limits our tactical options). Klopp’s plan worked with what we had at hand and it’s not like we didn’t create chances. We have gone as far as we can trying to win major trophies without an elite, clinical striker or an elite-level attacking CM. I’m sure Klopp and crew will work on new ways to break down our opposition, but I think that is what keeps us from reaching the City/Bayern/Real level.

epochwin

Thiago and Fabinho were returning from injury. Not sure how fit Mo and Virg were as well. We just looked a little stale in our game play

mylanguage

Madrid fan here - our BIGGEST fear was Liverpool sitting back. We felt if you did this we would get murdered on the counter.

Plenty_Sound_8425

Explain to me why we're so cursed against you. First Zidane now Carlo. Whos next Solari now?

Eibermann

because we are just happy sitting back till the second half then playing forward, we dont try to force ourselves early in the game and capitalize on your mistakes, its how we beaten psg chelsea man city. and when things dont go your way you just lose the way you started the game.

Boshva

We never sit back. Only if we are leading and the match is already close to the end.

mylanguage

This is why Carlo I think felt quite confident. Courtois has been this good for about two seasons - since our 2020 league-winning campaign. He's a monster and has saved us a ton. In a sense we knew he would make some top saves but we didn't expect to keep a clean sheet. The idea was, especially from the fanbase - Liverpool will start off hot and keep attacking in waves over and over for the first 20-25 mins. At that point we just need to survive until then. After that we will slowly get into the game more. If we get to HT at 0-0 they will be a bit frustrated and then we can pick our spot in the final 45. With Modric, Kroos, Benzema, Vini they really just need ONE moment to make something happen. If we play our cards right we could catch Liverpool on a brief loss of concentration and be clinical. Now if you sat back? We would have the ball - likely struggle to create chaos and then I think we would be obliterated on the counter.

JohnMcAfeewaswhackd

They scored 1 goal and they were fortunate Trent wasn’t concentrating. Could have just as easily gone to et and pens.

Melticus-A

Tbf we could have scored 3,4 times but our players didn’t shoot.

[deleted]

Oh hello there. Didn’t expect to see you here.

Melticus-A

The one and only

Android17_MVP

>We win the ball off of Modric or Kroos Honestly I know it's instructed and all but in a final Robbo pressing Modric high up is practically a death sentence. The fella never losses the ball, literally press resistant. If Robbo presses, he can't afford to let him pass it out, it's a must when he made the choice... Thaigo and Fabinho gets dragged to Carvahal leaving Casemiro free, Diaz not pressing Carvahal, or covering Robbo... Instead just trying to cut out the passing lane to Valverde. Maybe if VVD engaged Valverde straight away he could have stopped it but Carvahal was making the Overlap after.

aghashayan

Exactly. It was visible that it was not gonna work, and we insisted till we concede. Again I know we were unlucky but our set up was not smart.

HowdyDooder

I think it's more of a general limitation on our squad. We have more depth than we have had in a while (and I'm not sure if that's totally intentional given how FSG was hoping to wait until the summer for Diaz and how they haven't bent that much on contract terms to try to keep Salah and Mane), but our CM options all have their limitations and we are super-dependent on our fullbacks to do all the creating. There's a reason why Pep has built up City as they are because breaking down a determined low block is one of the hardest things to do in football (especially when your opponent is at Real Madrid's quality level), but we don't have the bottomless funds to copy that.

samcotts

Good of Spurs to get their Son replacement in early.

vroomvroomgackgack

Fbref gives you a list of similar players by stats. The top most similar player to mane (among forwards) is Jota, and the second most similar player is Nkunku. The top most similar player among wingers is Luis Diaz. 🧐 just saying

KubasPoland

We've conquered all the Manés, we never gonna stop

FlyHater

Quite shocked at how easily I got over the loss. 2018 hurt for weeks but this one I got over in a day or so.

PlG3

It was the parade and the corresponding salt from opposition fans that fixed me lol

vroomvroomgackgack

I think 2018 felt like an injustice whereas this one was a loss fair and square. If any fans had been seriously injured by the cops outside then of course this would have gone down as a horrible disaster so I guess I’m thankful that we avoided that

Tremor00

What a beautiful parade does for ya

Spec1alistInFailure

17/18 we lost the UCL final because of the goalkeeping performance, so we went out and bought a world class goalkeeper. 18/19 we didn’t win the PL because of our inability to close out games. In 19/20 we blitzed the league not necessarily because we dominated games but we were grinding out result after result after result. 20/21 our title defence was looking good up until Christmas when the injury crisis hit. We went out and got Konate and rotated the squad much better and had a lot less injuries because of it. What’s the lesson to be learned from this season?

whoaaa_O

We need quality game changing midfield depth. We need an elite finisher.

Pizasdf

18/19 we didn't win the league because Trent was injured then we had a string of draws because we were struggling to create chances without him.

rosheromil

I don’t think needing to close out games was the lesson of 2018/19. If I remember correctly we only dropped points once or twice after being ahead. I think the lesson was that we can’t afford to draw even with a decent points advantage. The fact we grinded out so many wins in 19/20 like you said was evident we learned our lesson. For me, not closing out games was moreso the issue of this season (certainly the first half). To be honest, I feel like we have learnt from that already as shown by our consistency in 2022. The key will be to do it over the whole season and start strong next year.

watusiwatusi

I’d like to play the kids every cup match and just use the game time there to support the effort towards PL and CL.

da_undataka

We need a plan b striker. We need more goals from midfield. We need Trent and Robbo to step up on goals playing the way we do. Find out why our set piece threat has lessened so much. Is it the delivery? The final is evidence of such. We will benefit from 5 subs a great deal for our CL runs, La liga accommodate their clubs domestic fixtures however they can do the good of the country and the CL!!

Up_To_U

Liverpool lose two trophy because of tired legs in last two months. Liverpool pressing wasn't effective to stop opponents that's why you could saw Liverpool defend got caught off position easily. Fabinho and hendo are tired some time it's feel like they're yard slow to close space and getting more little injuries that took them off some games. Liverpool need some fresh legs in midfield to rotate with Fabinho and Henderson. It's give both some rest get performance when Liverpool need it

MagicMagMM

Lesson is we need forward to replace mane and a midfielder to replace gini which we didn't for a whole season. Two of both would be ideal. Maybe buy another tsimikas for the right side also

Ordinary-Eggplant-15

That if we really want to achieve the holy grail of the quadruple then we need more depth of quality. We have the quality, we just need more! I think we ran out of steam which is understandable but we were so fucking close regardless!

Spec1alistInFailure

I agree, it was very evident towards the end of the season that we simply ran out of gas. Salah Fabinho Robbo and maybe Virgil in particular were played into the ground.

Bozzaholic

Thank you Liverpool!!! I got in late last night after a day of travelling but I just wanted to put out there how absolutely amazing everyone was at the parade on Sunday. I was alone in the city but everyone I spoke to was really friendly and the whole experience was fantastic. I can't wait to go back again in the future

5amiii

One thing about the loss on Saturday. They beat us in 2018 when we were underdogs/rebuilding, and they were at their top (won 3 CL in a row) so it was expected that we’d lose. But this Saturday, we’re at our top, everyone’s fit and we did well in all competitions. They are rebuilding, and they STILL beat us. We’re cursed against them.

nukhraa

Everyone is cursed against them. I remember how they just pulled a 4-1 win out of nowhere vs Atletico in the final in 2014. Can't be more cursed than that

MagicMagMM

People downvoting you but its the truth. They beat us when we were building our team. They beat us when we both had injuries. And they beat us when we were at out best. We played better than them in most games but still wasn't enough. We've made progress we dominated them this time and last time in the quarter final but its never enough. Idk if they are just insanely lucky or they are just good and know how to play against us or both. Honestly if we ever draw them again we have to accept the L before the game has even started Another thing is benzema turning into prime r9 at 40 years old is something i cannot explain. In 2018 he was literally as good as fucking giroud. Ppl that downvote please tell me what i said that isn't true

HowdyDooder

Our record against them isn’t great, but if you just “accept the L,” that will never change. What’s the point of anything if you’re just resigned to defeat?

MagicMagMM

The point is i won't get hurt the next time we inevitably draw them and lose. Only shot we have at the cl is if some other team beats them on the other side of the brackets But if you wanna hold onto hope thats not gonna do anything but hurt you. And also wym our record isnt great against them? Bro we literally gifted them 2 cls and lost one more time. That can hardly classify as "isnt great" thats a fucking nightmare

5amiii

Agreed, except for the ‘we have to accept the L before the game even started’, I’ll still have hope we’ll beat them every time we play them lmao

MeLurka

Nah, just unlucky.

5amiii

Can only be unlucky so many times. I don’t see us beating them any time soon.

mathisfan17

Did you watch? Look up the xG. We win 6-7 out of 10 against them. 2 shots on goal. They scored on an errant shot that set up Vini perfectly.

5amiii

If my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle but she doesn’t so she’s not

hiddenTails

Does that mean we go as underdog next time? 😋

Ummagumma-

to be honest I want Liverpool with Madrid in the same CL group in September

libertydabbing

I want them early in the KOs. I just want to beat them once with this squad

donnydonky

If we could get a clinical striker and a decent attacking midfielder (sorry Nabylad) this transfer window and somehow Klopp and his staff found a way to drill the team into passing the low block (like Man City seem to always be able to), we'd probably win the Prem and the Champions league next season, given our winning mentality that teams like City lack.

JokeSalty

I don’t think you can say city (who’s gotten more points than us in 4 of the past 5 seasons) doesn’t have a winning mentality. They’ve literally won more than us

donnydonky

Well yeah but they did crumble when it mattered the most with Real scoring 2 goals in 2 mins and then winning in ET

JokeSalty

True, but at the end of the day we both lost to Real so I don’t think you judge a teams mentality on that

donnydonky

Ok fair

onoz9

At this point, I don't even view FIFA and UEFA as governing bodies - they are criminal organizations. And as someone pointed out, we need to start calling out their sponsors because they are sponsoring crime and that's unacceptable. Also, this is at the moment probably the only way to start a change. Otherwise, things are only gonna get worse in football.

Up_To_U

There's no difference between FIFA EUFA or company like blackrock and Goldman Sachs

No-Economist3226

I mean you could also try to break away from them and start your own lea... oh.

LilDizzyFrizzy

I just need to ventilate some frustration somewhere! Im sorry, i just need to say fuck real Madrid!!!! I hope we meet them next year. I need it for my mental health.

JokeSalty

I personally hope we don’t meet them again because our record against them is absolutely shite and Klopp’s record against Ancelotti is also pretty poor

LilDizzyFrizzy

There is only one way to turn that around, by meeting them… and fuck them up!

MagicMagMM

nah bro we'll lose again i know you want revenge or whatever but ill be more than happy never meeting them again and winning a cl in the process

malushanks95

Harvey and Fabio are gonna be wholesome, Harvey said this about him in a recent interview (Echo): >”He was my favourite player to play with as a youngster to be honest at Fulham. Me and him had a great connection, on the pitch as well as off the pitch and I will definitely look after him when he arrives.”

Spec1alistInFailure

Unfortunately, Ivan Perisic is a very, very shrewd signing for Tottenham. Looks like the EPL arms race is heating up.

JokeSalty

They have Emerson at right wing back with Dier and Davies as centre backs. We’re all good

nukhraa

Dier and Davies have been pretty good under Conte.

Arnaut Danjuma (Villarreal): "I've never had contacts with clubs or anything like that during the season. I always know about the situation after the season. I don’t want to get involved during the season. But I was informed that Liverpool were following me closely."[Ziggo Sport]
