How are you roasting your veggies? Do you suggest doing the one baking tray method or do you have an air fryer? I am trying to change my fast food habits but I’m
not very good at cooking or knowing how to make meals yet
I find most veggies (broccoli, asparagus, Brussels sprouts) come out well if you roast them at 400F for 20 minutes in a shallow pan.
Edit: Just saw the new at cooking part so I will add more tips. Spray or wipe your pan with some oil to prevent sticking. I like to season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and smoked paprika. Try different seasoning mixes and see what you like.

I’m no chef but veggies are easy in a pan on the stove too.
Light bit of oil so they don’t stick, salt pepper.
Cook till you get a bit of brown on them on each side, enjoy.
The good news is you can eat them raw so as long as you don’t turn them into charcoal along the way every step of done-ness is an edible product so experiment, see if you like them warmed up, or cooked through, or lightly charred.
Report back which is your favorite style.
As for what to cook, I like zucchini and broccoli, but throw in all sorts of stuff, bell peppers a rogue mushroom, onions cook faster than others.
I'll take asparagus, cut the heads, toss in olive oil, salt, pepper, and parmesan, put it on a pan and broil it on high for 12 minutes. Squeeze a fresh lemon on it and enjoy.
Asparagus also works really well on a grill. Toss them in light oil, drop them on a hot grill for just a couple of minutes so they're still slightly crunchy, you got yourself something.
If you can, get one of those food safe spray bottles for oil. Really gets a nice even coating without soaking them in oil.
When you prepare asparagus you can get rid of the tough stem by breaking it with your hands. Start at the stem and try to snap it. If it’s too tough move a bit closer to the head and try again. When you can get a clean crisp snap that’s where it transitions from being tough to being tender. It tends to correlate to the white to green color change but the hand snapping method is best. Discard the tough parts. You’re left with only good asparagus to eat.
Or use parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup. We also have a Ninja air fryer which works great if you don't have an oven. It is quicker, uses less electricity and doesn't heat up kitchen. Buy some good hot paprika for a treat. Brussel sprouts, broccoli, asparagus and all potatoes are better when roasted than you might think. I hate cooked brussel sprouts but roasted ones are a delicacy!
We use parchment paper for literally everything now. Tired of things sticking to tinfoil
Another good one is olive oil, salt, sesame seed, cumin seed and nigella seed. Gives it a nice Mediterranean / Middle Eastern flavour.
I love roasted vegetables but for some reason never thought to roast broccoli until a few nights ago and now I can’t imagine preparing them a different way. They were absolutely amazing.
asparagus for 20mins in the oven? dont they get beyond soggy/chewy and no longer crisp?
For a 20 min asparagus roast, I personally find 350F works better than 400F. But if the asparagus are particularly thick then the higher temp or longer time is more helpful.

Asparagus come out delicious - not soggy at all - that’s kind of the trick with oven roasting, it steams some of the moisture out of the veggies - then the browning/charring gives you a bit of caramelization for sweetness and flavor… most veggies are absolutely delicious prepared this way…
I generally buy those t h i c c asparagus so they do tend to take about 20 min @ 400. The smaller, more pencil-thin stalks definitely wouldnt need more than like, 8 min lol
Oven roasted is the way to go. Easy to do and let’s you focus on other things you need to cook. Also tasted amazing.
I toss broccoli or sprouts in olive oil and seasoning before roasting them in a shallow pan at 400 for however long I want them cooked.
One baking tray method is the way to go. Drizzle olive oil and season with salt and pepper and the veggies come out delicious!
Usually I just cut up the veggies and put them on a sheet pan lined with aluminum foil then sprinkle on some olive oil then salt and pepper. 400° until it's done (fork tender or maybe just browning a little) turning once during cooking. This works for so many things. Broccoli, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, carrots, summer squash, turnips, cabbage, etc. I've been on a acorn squash kick lately. You just cut them in half and scoop out the seeds. Olive oil, salt, and pepper on the cut side and bake face down, delicious and stupid easy.
Edit: Also, in case you weren't aware, an air fryer is just a countertop convection oven. If you have a convection oven already you don't really need the fryer. You can just get an oven basket (they often come with drip trays) to get better air circulation when using convection.
Bot will be delicous but as someone who roasts a lot I really need to invest in an air fryer. having an eco option for when its just a couple people is necessary with the energy crisis in Britain.
Can confirm, British, bought an air fryer recently. Oven has only been used 3 times in 6 weeks or so. The thing is magical when there are only 2 people in our house.
So what have you do in it?
It's basically just a very tiny convection oven that's electric instead of gas. You can do pretty much anything you'd do in a convection oven, if it fits.
Chips, falafels, burgers, sausages, veggies, crispy chickpeas, muffins, nuggets.
We do still use the hob a fair amount for things like curry, Bolognese, chilli.
Open flame charcoal BBQ with some veggie seasoning 🤤. Super easy. Some examples of awesome ass veggies roasted over charcoal. Corn (peel off husk) asparagus, peppers, onion, potatoes. Aw man you gotta try a flame grilled spud. Good shit. Slice up eggplant. Zucchini, squash. It's so easy. Light the coals. Wait 10 to 15 minutes. Put on the veggies. Wait till chard. Take off veggies. Season to taste. Eat. There are plenty of easy recipes and tutorials all over the internet. It's easy, it's fun, and it's gooooood. Example of easy ass low carb BBQ snack. Take a white onion, cut off both edges and peel off outside. Cut into rings (I usually do 4 sections. It's super easy, there are plenty of tutorials on how to cut onion into rings). I Cut them pretty thick. Wrap rings in bacon. Put on grill at 250 - 300 degrees. Leave on 20 to 40 minutes depending on thickness of bacon. Take off when bacon is done (should constrict around ring and be just slightly charred) take off grill. Let it cool. Eat. Delicious bacon wrapped onion rings.
During the lockdowns I bought some books called The Roasting Tin (there's a "Green" one, an "Around the world one" etc) and the premise is basically tasty, fast, easy recipes you can make in a roasting tin. I warmly recommend them as they finally made me start eating properly, especially when I don't feel like cooking something time consuming or complicated.
How did nobody help this lad out! My wife does the cooking (I stand around and help clean/talk to her) but that sheet pan full of veggies looks easy and whatever she sprinkles on it tastes pretty damn good
At our house that sprinkle is just salt and pepper.
That’s all you need for tasty veggies.
If you like the taste of just veggies, I guess. "just salt and pepper" sounds like the most boring possible way to cook anything.
Chop up veggies of choice. I like potatoes, carrots, Brussel sprouts and bets. Toss in a bit of oil and spices of choice. I like salt pepper and garlic.
Roast in pan with parchment paper at 425ish.
As soon as veggies go in start heating a non stick pan. Season chicken breast. I like salt pepper and parsley. Bit of oil in pan. Chicken breast 3-5 minutes each side until brown. Put in oven on top of veggies until internal temp reaches 170. About 20 min.
While the chicken is in oven, if desired, make a pan sauce from drippings/oil left in pan. Chop up some onion and fry it in the pan. Add a bit of chicken bullion and a bit of sour cream.
Get some parchment paper or silicone baking sheets for your pans. Some olive oil and garlic salt on whatever veg and roast 400⁰ for like 20 min.

A sheet bake is super quick and simple. I typically do potatoes cut into small pieces. For veggies, I like red peppers, asparagus, broccoli, and onion. Sometimes I also include an andouille sausage.
I cut up the veggies and potatoes, throw them into a bowl, pour some olive oil into the bowl, then season with salt, pepper, parsley, garlic powder, basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Mix it up and then dump it onto a nonstick foil lined baking sheet for easy cleanup.
I bake it at 450° for 25 minutes, ez pz. Takes like maaaaaybe 45 minutes total. Depends on how fast you can chop.
Lots of people say to drizzle with oil once on pan but I find putting in a bowl, adding oil and then mix coats it better and cooks more evenly. Add in seasoning or salt and pepper to the oil first too

I would say junk food all the time bad. Fresh food all the time boring. So some junk food but mainly fresh food.
80\20 gets a lot of shit but it seems to work very well for most people who actually stick to it
I lost 80 lbs in 8 months by doing strict calorie counting 6 days a week, eating healthy, and working out, and on Sunday eating whatever shit I felt like and not monitoring calories.

Yeah, but I gained a bunch back during the pandemic and doing it all over again.
When gyms closed for the pandemic it killed my routine and motivation. On the grind again now!
This is the part that people struggle with. It's a self control issue. Chicken wings are delicious and have nutritional value. When you over eat huge servings of them on a daily basis you negate that nutritional value because your appetite has been suppressed so you are no longer hungry for other sources of nutrients.
It does for me. Food should be enjoyable and 80/20 feels like the right compromise.
Not a compromise, a sensible balance is how I like to frame it. :)
Fresh food has to be properly prepared to be good, but after you learn and get used it just ruins junk forever
I agree. I don't think I could now eat a whole meal of junk food without throwing up. It now tastes really over salted or way too sweet.
Seriously! I shopped hungry the other day and threw in a frozen pot pie - haven't had one in years. Went to cook it later... First off it's *890 calories!* And then when I ate it, it was the biggest sodium bomb. Almost inedible now, and I love me some salt and probably go over my recommended sodium every day. It really was eye-opening, because I used to eat and love those things on the regular. Interesting what we get acclimated to.
Fun fact. I lost 80lbs by eating mostly fresh food and last year at Christmas dinner I ate two pieces of strawberry pretzel dessert (which is essentially an insane amount of sugar in various forms) and I got so sick and hot and threw it all up. Didn't realize how toxic food really can be until you're not accustomed to eating it all the time.
Oh man my sister made that strawberry pretzel stuff when I went to visit a while back. It was so deceitful because it seemed light but was in effect, pure refined carbs. I have to say it was delicious, and definitely something I could have made myself sick eating. Congratulations on your major weight loss!
Also it... Doesn't add up, I guess? It's like seeing the viral vids from bright side or similar channels. It feels "crafted" and not in a good way, like they made people enjoy a thing and now are making a thing to be enjoyed by those people.
I've grown up in a home where we like eating well, I live in Italy where good ingredients are easy to find and fairly cheap and I stopped eating fast food in elementary school. Now I'm in my 20s and can't stand mcdonalds smell, lol. Guess I'm lucky to have become the healthy kind of picky
Pasta is one of the foods I had to give up. Love it and it’s easy and quick, but it affects me as if I’ve eaten a cake.
Depending on your metabolism it may make sense, you're probably sensible to sugars. I hear many people feel heavy after they ate some pasta, so it's avoided by many on dinner.
Personally I feel no difference, but there are some who even have trouble sleeping well
If I lived in Italy, I would just eat it all and die earlier. In France, it would be bread, butter and fruit preserves that would kill me.
I eat pasta on occasion but it is not in the monthly rotation. I miss it
European butter is gold! Italian one is pretty meh because of Parmigiano and Grana, but good butter is seriously something to die for
Thats why I switched to chickpea and red lentil pastas. The nutritional profiles are muuuuch better, lots of protein, fiber, and micronutrients with not as much sugar!
I'm starting to think that the Italian food culture is more than just good taste, it's about healthy habits too. I mean being Italian (I mean statistically, of course there are junkfood families in IT and healthy ones elsewhere) you get to LIKE healthy and varied food more than mcdonalds menus. Most of all you get to see that that is the NORM. Giving good habits to one who's grown up with fridge-to-oven solutions is SO hard.
Sadly the situation is slowly changing (also because of the lack of time affecting everyone and disappearing of the culture of stay-home woman, who has the time to prepare food for everyone), I see a lot of people leaning to bad habits.
Something that has a big impact is the availability of high quality, low priced ingredients. In US everything is deeply optimized and logistics has to manage huge distances.
Anyway yes, it's about the culture and "cultural habits", it's probably the same reason why many are so close to anything different from Italian cuisine (I like to cook and experiment, sometimes it's hard to even get people trying what I make, and they know I'm good)
It's processed garbage. Even white bread after eating whole grain for a while tastes awful.
I agree. Yet I am in France and white bread is king (baguettes). But one every day from the bakery a block away. They told me they use 4 ingredients only - flour, water, yeast, salt. No wonder it tastes good. Look at a bread in the USA ingred list. It's gross.
Food scientists create chemicals to make people addicted to fast food. Even chain restaurants in the US use these methods. Our family is like yours, fresh basic foods prepared at home to make satisfying and delicious meals.
We're teaching our child to know the difference and appreciate only eating at restaurants that are chef run and cook the same way. Hard to find and expensive, so we don't do it often, but worth the distinction.
We feel lucky too.
Boring? You may wanna improve your cooking skills, guarantee youll be more motivated to eat healthy fresh food. YouTube Chris heira for starters but that's real basic shit. Then watch some masterchef and take notes on what does what, the rest comes from experience or go ask a grandma.
One of the best ways I've seen this put is that additive eating is better. To put it in words: if you want to eat the cookie, eat the dang cookie, but add some healthy stuff with it, like fruit and yogurt. Fill yourself up with good stuff while still being able to eat the tasty tasty bad stuff
Fresh food + effort = not boring.
You can have boiled brussel sprouts or you can have them roasted with a mustard vinaigrette and sliced almonds.
You can have crappy store strawberries or you can find a upick or grow them yourself.
But yeah I get it. Sometimes I'm just tired and have no time or energy so give me my vanilla latte and Mac n cheese.

The best dietary change I made was to keep salad makings on hand at all times - spinach and baby lettuce, fresh tomatoes, feta cheese, garbanzos, artichoke quarters, avocado. Dinner is often a tin of smoked herring and a huge salad.
I admit that I hate salads which is why I turned to roasting veggies. Roasted cauliflower actually tastes amazing.
Boiled Brussel sprouts are basically the only food I’m picky with, they just make me feel sick. I risked it and roasted them a couple months ago with oil and spices until crispy and holy fuck they were so good
Slice the brussels. You can cut them in half long way once, or, if you’re really feeling fancy, shred them by slicing the whole thing thinly.
Then roast them. You can then put those crispy little sprout shreds on anything and it’s fire.
I grew up hating vegetables. Once I started cooking for myself, I learned that I really like roasted vegetables.
Turns out I didn't hate vegetables, it was that my parents only ever served them boiled to death.

Depends on when you last ate Brussels Sprouts. If it was early enough like early 90s, it would be when they really were shit tasting. Now due to the magic of GMO, they actually taste like food
Cut em in half and pan fry them in a bit of vegetable oil.
Part way through frying, add lemon juice, bacon (bits work as well) and some parmesan cheese right near the end. So tasty!
If you have an air fryer, you can put frozen Brussels straight into it. Soooo good. You just have to add the seasoning and stuff, but it’s so much crispier than even from the oven. Closer to pan fried in a cast iron skillet but still not as wet
I love myself some grilled chicken breast with roasted veggies. It’s like healthy fast food haha.
I love roasted broccoli and cauliflower tossed with some olive oil, and s&p. Doesn't get much more simple than that!
I dislike leafy green salads myself as they're often too bitter for me and I need too much dressing. I've recently gotten really into Mediterranean salads with chickpeas, cucumber, bell peppers, and tomato. They're delicious! Nothing like the traditional salads I grew up with.
I also like to do spinach or romaine (less bitter IMO). I often pair those with blueberries, feta, sliced almonds and raspberry vinaigrette (kens light raspberry walnut is ace) or just balsamic. Not bitter and a nice switch!
I do that too! But I usually wrap mine in a tortilla or wrap for some fun and a little bit more substance. Took a bit to mentally remind myself I love salad and it tastes good lol
I'm lazy and I played to that. Salad is easy and quick to make, and you can get stuff pre cut. That and a can of tuna is easier than baking a premade pizza, and not much harder than a microwave meal
Yep, great combination, very similar to my late afternoon meals. Helps with digestion = regular consistent stool.

The weight loss is the least important element although the most obvious. I think for me it was the fact that I was no longer constantly eating and that I no longer had these highs and abrupt crashes.

I stopped drinking coffee and now my energy level is pretty consistent. Used to fall dead asleep at 1500 from caffeine deficit
After 25 years of drinking coffee, last year I quit all caffeine and I can agree with this. Some days are smoother than others, but overall my energy level is consistent and I don't have any sudden crashes or dips later in the day.

That sounds a lot like a sugar crash. People who load their morning and lunch with carbs and sugar (pancakes, breads, sweets, dessert coffee's) tend to have a crash mid-day.
I have (had) the same as the og, stopped drinking coffee energy levels stayed consistent all day. My diet other than large coffee intake was good.
I used to have this after lunch. I stopped eating in the morning. Now I actually feel more awake after lunch.

I was a heavy caffeine addict for the past 12 years (my worst period I drank about 8 cans of energy drink every day, barely any water), I quit in March. I miss the flavor, but all my anxiety is 90% gone, I sleep better (most of the time), my energy levels are WAY more stable, I'm never going back
That's really interesting. I drink between 3 - 5 cups a day. Latest research from the [Scientific American](https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/need-fiber-have-some-coff/) shows that coffee is a good source of fiber.
*Soluble* fiber. You can get that in a lot of things. Insoluble fiber is what you get from whole grains and roasted vegetables. I drink plenty of coffee, so this isn’t an anti-coffee comment. Just alerting people to two distinct type of nutrients that get interchanged erroneously a lot.

You're probably right. I think the main thing is that it works for me. The one useful tip that I picked up when listening to a discussion on clinical studies is that one size does not fit all. You have to do what works for you even if it feels counter-intuitive.
For me though i just hated that i couldn't function without it, I had a standard of at least 2 keeps a day since starting college.
If i didn't have my coffee i'd be miserable and low energy the entire day.
This is counter to your main point. Compare these two statements:
Eating junk food is just what works for me, and I don't care that I'll be fat. You just have to do what works for you.
Drinking caffeine is just what works for me, and I don't care that I'll be tired later in the day. You just have to do what works for you.
I hope that's a joke. Vegetables have fiber and you're already eating those.
There has also been a meta analysis on a plethora of studies correlating coffee intake and all-cause & cause specific mortality, that concluded with a strong inverse correlation between the two. Basically, the more coffee you drink, the longer youll live. Im gonna live forever it seems.

I was obese for 30 years. Tried every diet and exercise plan available. Experienced depression and developed an eating disorder from repeated failed attempts. Was only able to finally find success when I stopped 'dieting' and started to change my eating habits.
Like OP said "everyone is different", so the healthy habits I developed may not work for everyone. I cook a lot and like to experiment with different international cuisine that only use fresh ingredients, but not everyone enjoys cooking as much as I do or might not have the time. I also replaced all the processed foods in my fridge and pantry with alternatives I made myself. Tortillas, peanut butter, pickles, you name it. I don't have anything in my house that came in a can, jar, packet or box, but not everyone has the same access to fresh ingredients like I do.
There are two facts though that you shouldn't ignore: processed carbohydrates in any form are not good for you and you should try to avoid drinking your calories. Most 'diets' that get temporary results effectively cut out processed carbs and soft drinks, but they are too hard to follow long term. If you're asked to measure or drastically restrict your good it's unlikely you'll be keeping those habits up 10 years down the track.
I was only able to get over my eating disorder and maintain a healthy weight when I developed habits that helped me stop focusing on food all the time. I used to worry about carbs, but now I eat rice almost every day and don't care how much I eat. My freezer is full of frozen burritos for whenever I don't feel like cooking, but all the ingredients were made from scratch and they taste better than anything I could ever buy from a supermarket. Food is never stressful or feels like work now, but it takes focus and time to get to that point. My wife claims she has never eaten better in her whole life and has dropped from 185lb to 135lb in the past 6 months without any real exercise.
If you're overweight and wanting to change things for the better start making small changes and build on them. Identify the food and drink in your home that isn't helping. Start experimenting with healthy alternatives until you find what's right. If you make the effort it'll be worth it, and you'll surprise yourself as to how easy some changes actually are.
Hi, I just wanted to say thanks so much for taking the time and writing this all out! I’ve been on my own journey to eat healthier, and this is very helpful. I feel like I’ve gotten better about buying less processed foods, but when I don’t feel like cooking, it’s so easy to turn to take-out. I love the idea of meal prepping frozen food that’s ready to go whenever. How do you reheat your frozen burritos?
I’m not OP but I do this: wrap in paper towel and microwave for 5 min. While in the microwave, put your broiler on. Broil for 2 min to get the nice crispness of a fresh burrito (you can sprinkle some cheese on top of you want … my body doesn’t like dairy and I find dairy-free cheese kinda gross so I don’t add anything but I put cheese on top for my kids or husband)

My understanding is that its a carb but yes its a member of the plant kingdom.
All vegetables are carbs.
A carbohydrate is a component of a food. A protein smoothie will contain carbs and protein (among other things).
Calling a food item “a carb” is sort of meaningless.
Broccoli has almost twice as much fiber and proteins as carbs.
Carbs: 2.3 g
Protein: 4.3 g
Fiber: 4.0 g
Calling that a "*carb*", makes no sense at all. Especially when uncooked rice is like 75% carbs.

So what are they? They’re not proteins or fats. They’re carbs. They’re complex carbs and very healthful. They’re not empty, simple carbs. But veggies are still carbohydrate-based foods.
Carbohydrates are components of a food.
Like how wood is a component of a house. Some houses have more wood than brick, some homes are made entirely of wood. A house is not a wood, a vegetable is not a carb.
They're simply vegetables. They contain very small amounts of carbohydrate, specifically net-carbs.

It is pretty nutritious but when you fry it, dunk it in ketchup, and eat a basketful you're inviting trouble.

People are more likely to fuss about what type of fuel they are putting in their car, and not the type of fuel they are putting into themselves.

Lol. I hear you. I am on first name terms with the guy who runs the fried chicken shop down the road. I still eat fried chicken but now I just buy one piece to enjoy rather than have several pieces, fries and a fizzy drink.

I hate vegetables. Like, almost EVERY vegetable. It's ridiculous. But there are a few I'll eat in some circumstances, so this post made me decide to go to the store in a couple hours. I'm gonna buy those and try and roast them, see what happens. Wish my fat ass luck.
If you really want to kick it up a notch get some msg and sprinkle a small amount over the vegetables prior to roasting. I also hate veggies, but find this helps a lot for most types.

Use something like cronometer to check if you have any obvious flaws in your diet
TBH I just rotate the protein and veg. It won't always be an omelette for the protein and I also try to veggies in season as they are cheaper and fresher and means that I naturally rotate what I eat.

One size does not fit all. You're probably going to have to experiment until you find something that works.
Only 2 meals a day? If you're jogging every morning you need to make sure you're getting enough carbs for energy. Our body uses carbs for energy first, then fat, then protein. After a jog make sure you give your body some fast acting carbs so it can recover.

How about if you want to gain weight?
If you want to gain weight the easiest way is to have a diet that is high in both carbohydrates and fat. Eating a calorie surplus is required aswell, but you can accelerate weight gain by having more than 80% of your net calories from carbs and fat.

What time in the day do you eat your meals?
First meal of the day is lunch and not before noon. It is a huge plate of roasted veggies. pasta and an omelette. I lace the omelette with turmeric, black pepper, chilli flakes, salt and grated cheese. Dessert is ice cream with fruit. Dinner is soup and a sandwich. I start the day with a shot of apple cider vinegar and unlimited unsweetened black coffee.
Is this an average meal or so you literally eat the same thing every day?
Kind of yes and no. I normally eat this but its like between 4 -5 meals a week. The other two are still junk like fried chicken or pizza (sometimes both). I think any super healthy diet is unsustainable in the long run. One study I heard discussed found that both the keto diet and the med diet were effective in weight loss but the keto diet was unsustainable owing to how restricted it was. I think you need to decide which trade-offs you can live with. I would like a six pack but am unwilling to give up ice cream so I choose to eat ice cream and have the six pack as a fantasy I aspire to one day.
How much does this matter?

Based on OP’s response, I’d be willing to bet that this eating window includes some intermittent fasting (e.g. 16 hours from 20:00 to 12:00 noon next day). That’ll help too!

If you already do, move faster and harder and do new movements. The diet industry is a collective scam, but exercise is not. Eating well is great, but we’re primates meant to move around in whatever ways we can.

Very good. I eat fish and chicken mostly, but do have beef(4 oz. per week), lots of beans virtually daily. Stopped eating bread with a meal and limit white foods(rice, noodles, potatoes) intake. Almost no sugars except for an occasional piece of cake or pie.
edit: I'm in my 60's and ride bike daily about 10 miles and walk 5-8 miles daily as well. Can still F like in my 40's(not my 20's though sadly).
Right now I'm eating vanilla ice cream with slices of plum and kiwi fruit and washing it down with black coffee.

By that logic there would be no LPTs because no LPT could possibly impact everyone.
you are right in the sense that diet is in fact extremely important, but the way you wrote it makes it so personally specific that it just loses its LPT-ness.
good for you if "mainly roasted veggies and some protein and carbs" made a huge change for you, and that you now just eat twice, and it makes you feel better. That's great, truly. But this is not even good advice from a dietitian point of view, especially not the two meals per day part.
you just wrote down what _you_ found helpful, nothing scientifically accurate, and it is in no way universal or wide range, it might not even apply to small groups. a proper way to phrase it would have been to just say "diet is important", but there are a thousand LPTs like that already so that wouldn't have been as good for karma as this is.
i'm happy for you that you made good (and hard) changes for the better, but this is the kind of LPT why I started hating this sub.
