Conventional wisdom suggests that it takes a long time to prepare a bombardment like this so it's not likely a retaliation for yesterday's oil depot. Then again, conventional wisdom isn't even worth the paper they are written on during this war so I am all out of clues.

It has been some time since the last big strike, so the munitions could have already been there, and the need to retaliate for yesterday's attack jumped up the timetable by a week or two.
Yeah I figure the same. They were already prepped and getting ready, but this accelerated the need for a strike with the mention of the fire being preparation for a counteroffensive as well. Why telegraph that, I wonder.
Unverified Twitter reports are that there are no explosions on the ground, so either Ukrainian AD suddenly developed a 100 percent success rate or these were decoys to burn AD missiles

A lot of people checked out of keeping tabs on anything daily in the Russo-Ukrainian war because of the issue with twitter, you can claim anything and it will take a few days if not more to get either proven or disproven.

My guess is the MIM-104 Patriots and NASAMS Ukraine have now are a lot more modern "upgraded" and accurate then the hundreds of Soviet era S-300s they've been using before.

As do I. Unfortunately, they're able to deploy their cruise missiles far outside of the range of Ukraine's air defenses. That being said, Engels, the base where the bombers are stationed, has been attacked several times, with some aircraft damaged. Ideally, Ukraine can see about hitting it again.
Mechanical issues and age are taking a far faster attrition rate.
