So I got a mixer about 6 months ago. Used it many many times for bread dough, pizza dough and noodles. One day while making a 70% hydration dough I found metal inside the dough. Called kitchenaid and they replaced it with a new one no questions asked. Made pizza dough again and found 3 VERY SHARP shards of metal with the new machine. I know I used too high of a speed for the dough hook but didn’t think much of it because the machine was going strong (no strange noises, wasn’t over heating). I had assumed the reason why you are not supposed to use the higher speed with the dough hook was because the machine can’t handle it but apparently it can also cause metal to fall into your food. This may be a known issue that I was not aware of but thought it was worth sharing. I will post the photos below.
