KSG and Ye are my favorite Kanye albums and I know I’m almost entirely alone on that. This is abt to be the most painful tournament I’ve ever witnessed.
Nah i do not understand why people gas up WTT. It's not bad and its wayyy better than JiK, but outside of the excellent singles (No Church In the Wild is probably my favorite opener for a Kanye album) it's some really forgettable and stereotypical pop rap for 2011. Maybe i'm a bit hypocritical since Graduation is my fav Kanye album, but tbf I don't remember 00s-era hip hop as much as i do early 10s-era
Honestly, I like Cruel Summer more than WTT
>it's some really forgettable and stereotypical pop rap for 2011.
Its only " forgettable and stereotypical pop rap" If you're 15 and weren't around when it came out so you don't realize that was the beginning of that sound and its only corny NOW.
Hit boy was still basically anonymous and the sampling was crazy
graduation was a diamond in among some really formulaic records coming out around that time but WTT fit into what was already there.
Some people echo fantano in saying graduation is dated, but I would say its only dated as a product of how era defining it was.
That album is fantastic front to back…even the bonus tracks from various versions are good. Sad sad sad
With Donda still being free to cut, I can’t believe WTT went out.
Maybe it just shouldn’t have been part of this…so it “bowed out, respectfully”
Donda is incredible. Helped me process my dad's sudden death and will always be special to me. It's got so much emotional depth to it, and it has such a unique atmosphere. There's no way it should be going out this early.
same - Donda was my first album I was a fan for. incredibly nostalgic. People compared it to Certified Lover Boy at the time and Donda has remained relevant but no one listens to CLB anymore
It came out right as students were going back to school in person for the first time since pre covid. I think that alone would be a really cool attachment for people
True, only a few songs I listen too regularly.
Compared to KSG and most of Kanye's other albums that is not good.
Idek why people think KSG has to go next, KSG has no bad songs on it at all. Donda has insane Bloat
Ksg has a couple songs I would outright never listen to like feel the love and being 7 tracks long that doesn’t leave jt with much so ksg should go next imo
Agreed. Donda is like, nearly 2 hours with 27 tracks and I only actually listen to/enjoy like 6 of them. 💀
It would’ve been a better album if it was 12-16 tracks or something.
It depends on how you rank albums, based on consistency or by how much good stuff is in there. For me, 808s is very consistent and overall decent, but something like Graduation is smoking it in terms of how high the highs are. Granted, Ye is short to a fault and definitely has some blemishes, but when it comes to the good parts, Ye has some of the best moments in his whole discography. This was when the world completely shifted on Kanye. He went from the mostly respected artist with a tendency to act out, to an alt-right psycho. Ye was his answer to those that turned on him (likely why he wanted to call it “Yedolf” (I don’t know if that’s true but I heard it somewhere)). Almost every bar in the project is pure poetry, and honestly some of the jarring and raw sections of the project that would generally take away from an album, on Ye it further expresses the imperfect character of Ye. My only real qualm is the length, but given that Ye and KSG shared several tracks during production, I essentially treat them as a side A and a side B. If Ye and KSG were released on the same album and had the track order rearranged, I would honestly consider it his best body of work full-stop.
anyone with functioning ears would agree with me on this tbh
forgot to mention you have to have a littttttttle bit of understanding of album and song structure and production quality
KSG: 7 Songs Total and by your standards 3 are good.
Donda: 32 Songs Total and by your standards 6 are good.
Seems like you agree with me if anything lol
Ye is not very good. Neither is Kids See Ghosts. This sub seems like it’s just full of contrarians that wanna act like they see some hidden mastery in mediocre albums
I listen to Ye and KSG on a very frequent basis. I don't pretend to like them; I actually adore them.
I think what people like you miss in Ye and Kids See Ghosts is the world and unique vibe that they bring you into. Both of these albums have something very particular about the style of production. WTT is a straight shot beats and bars album. Nothing beyond the surface. If you like that and J Cole is in your top 5 rappers, no hate at all you like what you like.
But try and have some perspective. KSG deliberately leaves you space for consume the rich textured synths and guitar licks with the dark samples. Every part is simple and executed to a T. KSG is not trying hard to get your attention, but it does anyway. Cudis verses are ridiculously catchy too. From song to song it balances remarkably with raw outbursts like Feel The Love and Freee (Ghost Town pt.2) with emotional and sometimes dark verses and production, but everything comes together and makes sense because this thing is produced SO well.
As for Ye, its definitely not as good as KSG, but the soul is alive in this one. My favorites are the really touching moments like Wouldn't Leave with the textured bass and sentimental sounding piano chords, but I overall love how Kanye is open as a book on this record. Cumulatively it feels like being with your most important people after sunset. And you have to admit Ghost Town is an incredible track.
If you weren’t alive and listening to the radio then you don’t realize how gigantic this album was. On hip hop stations, it was WTT for a year then the cruel summer stuff right after. WTT is criminally underrated. Not his best or most innovative work but just so huge.
Unpopular opinion - Late Registration
Donda has a lot of bloat but there are just as many gems on it as most of Ye's other albums. Jail pt2, Off the Grid, Hurricane, Moon, Heaven and Hell, Ok Ok 🙏🙏
this is dividing our community 😭
KSG and Ye are my favorite Kanye albums and I know I’m almost entirely alone on that. This is abt to be the most painful tournament I’ve ever witnessed.
i’m team college dropout and mbdtf
Ik; I feel like im about to be forced to watch my children be shot down one by one
Me too bruh 😭😭😭😭
KSG and MBDTF for me, you're not alone on KSG it's my favorite or second favorite album of all time.
wtt disrespect is horrifying to say the least
This sub is so dorky that's why lol
“Dorky” for preferring other albums. Which one would you vote out?
Bro got downvoted for a mild statement and a question
There's no way I would keep Donda over WTT
Oh so that’s the only one? The consensus is 1 album off your own opinion?
No, it's not the only one lol
Ok then name them u moody ass
Lol why do u want an argument so bad
It’s Kanye himself obvs
go away you weirdo 😭
Nah i do not understand why people gas up WTT. you just brought up his most pop rap album which is graduation and said it was your favorite
>it's some really forgettable and stereotypical pop rap for 2011. What about “Fellas in Paris”?!
Thats the other really good song on the album
Otis??
He probably never even listened to it before 😂
Lift Off???
Gotta have it? Otis?
Murder to Excellence honestly the best song on the album for the lyrics. Church in the wild nice beat and hook but Murder to Excellence clears.
Otis clears everything on that album
Fr, that’s my favorite song on the album
Maybe, but no other album of his deserves more disrespect
That album is fantastic front to back…even the bonus tracks from various versions are good. Sad sad sad With Donda still being free to cut, I can’t believe WTT went out. Maybe it just shouldn’t have been part of this…so it “bowed out, respectfully”
It’s good but not nearly as good as everything else on here
Nah it's deserved, the whole album is very top heavy, it has 3 or 4 bangers and then some mid ass songs
I know Donda has bloat but you guys are sleeping so hard on it
Donda is incredible.
Nostalgic? Album is not even 2 years old...
It came out right as students were going back to school in person for the first time since pre covid. I think that alone would be a really cool attachment for people
Donda is a masterpiece best album of the 2020s so far
If you listen to donda chant at 00:00 it will say the answer
of course ur tag is graduation
And of course your tag is yeezus
And of course your tag is devil in a new dress
And of course your tag is ⠀
Everyone saying ksg needs to be studied in a psychiatric ward
[удалено]
Its okay but people are really saying its the perfect project like wtf bro
it is perfect
Anthony Fantano moment
because it is.
I'm gonna guess your favorite album is MBDTF
everything you said was right except for the fact that the only song worth revisiting is reborn, not cudi montage
No Feel the Love?? Fire???? 4th Dimension????????
Reborn is one of the greatest songs ever made bruh ain't no way
There is not an album on this list that KSG is better than. Ksg goes next.
fr
4th dimension and Reborn is it tbh The rest is just kind of underwhelming
Every song is amazing
To be fair it’s one of Cudi’s better works but it’s still mid in Ye’s catalog
You’re all crazy for saying KSG should be out. (Totally not voting it out after Donda is gone)
Donda tbh, imo it's like an 8/10 album KSG and most of Kanye's discog dusts it
I wouldn’t even say it’s a 8/10. I never comeback to the album, outside of a few tracks.
True, only a few songs I listen too regularly. Compared to KSG and most of Kanye's other albums that is not good. Idek why people think KSG has to go next, KSG has no bad songs on it at all. Donda has insane Bloat
Ksg has a couple songs I would outright never listen to like feel the love and being 7 tracks long that doesn’t leave jt with much so ksg should go next imo
insane bloat is crazy. that means like half the songs are filler. not even close
[удалено]
I come back to it constantly it’s a masterpiece 8/10 is honestly too low
Donda. KSG and Ye are short masterpieces and should be studied man
Donda is anything but short…
nah i meant to put a full stop instead of comma
donda without the bloat*😭
Bro donda is easily top 3 for me
Top 1
KSG is very underwhelming
Kanye and kid cudi could’ve put just about anything out and fanboys would’ve ate it up. And that’s basically what happened. See also, Silk Sonic
Seeing too many people complaining about voting KSG while trying to find all the KSG votes to upvote.
Bye Donda.
Donda is in the top half of his discog imo
Too much bloat it has great songs on it but its not a good album
Agreed. Donda is like, nearly 2 hours with 27 tracks and I only actually listen to/enjoy like 6 of them. 💀 It would’ve been a better album if it was 12-16 tracks or something.
any other answer is just wrong tbh.
dam the disrepect toward ksg is crazy. my vote goes to donda
Donda
DONDA IS THE ONE I WOULD GO WITH
Donda , It’s too bloated and it doesn’t need to be if the album was 10 -13 songs it’d still be mid tier but better then it is
KSG
Ye
It’s literally a 9 and 808s is a 7/8
808s is a 10 fyi
808 his best or second best ur crazy
It depends on how you rank albums, based on consistency or by how much good stuff is in there. For me, 808s is very consistent and overall decent, but something like Graduation is smoking it in terms of how high the highs are. I seriously don’t get what’s so groundbreaking about ye that it deserves a 9. Especially in a world where 808s is a 7
Donda
I’d prolly take out Ye before Donda
I don't even know a single one of these albums
Then why are you even in r/Kanye?
Idk
ykw, you're honest and i respect that.

KSG most valid rn tbh. great album, but not even close to being as good as the rest.
KSG is literally miles better than ye and Donda
Average Fantano viewer
anyone with functioning ears would agree with me on this tbh forgot to mention you have to have a littttttttle bit of understanding of album and song structure and production quality
Jesus what a nerd
Nah ye is better but not donda
you guys are underestimating Ye
Literally how lol there’s like 3 good KSG songs and half a dozen good donda songs
KSG: 7 Songs Total and by your standards 3 are good. Donda: 32 Songs Total and by your standards 6 are good. Seems like you agree with me if anything lol
i think all songs are great on KSG and 4 no listens on Donda but i’m still taking Donda
[удалено]
Kids see ghosts or donda, now it’s gonna be hard if y’all make me choose between graduation, MBDTF or 808’s and Heartbreaks

I mean even if you like listening to WTT more you gotta see that WTT isn't interesting compared to Ye which sways a lot of ppl
