Smoking is bad for your health, particularly your cardiovascular health, which is directly related to athletic performance. Bad cardiovascular health = bad athletic performance. I think it’s unlikely (but not impossible) that Caitlyn was a smoker when she was a practicing athlete. If she was a smoker then, it’s shocking that she was as good as she was whilst being a smoker. If she wasn’t a smoker then and and developed the habit later on, it’s shocking because most people don’t pick up that habit later on in life. She’s always seemed very health conscious and lived an active lifestyle which doesn’t usually go hand in hand with the lifestyle of a smoker. Hope that’s cleared things up for you.
