Don't think I'll ever recover from this one
By - _definitelynotgod
Wait until you get to 8
Yea 8 really raised the bar on amount of blood you can have in a superhero show
And for some reason, I believe they’re only going to raise it even higher
I'm pretty sure they will
Hi pretty sure they will, I'm Dad! :)
I'll still have you, dad
*flies away in tears*
Think dad, think !!
Glad I could be a good bot :)
Here is a joke: So what if I don’t know what apocalypse means? It’s not the end of the world!
I thought you were ded dad
Oh trust me, Mark getting beaten by Omni Man is NOTHING
Oh they are. Wait till they introduce other viltrumites.
Oh in terms of blood, season 1 has been tame compared to what’s coming up
The question is whether invincible will be the killer.
The subway man...
I'm specifically talking about the subway. That shit was brutal
Many-a-people turned into a fine red mist
I can't look at subways the same way again
Justice league apocalypse war was pretty brutal. Several characters we know get ripped apary
I agree, and this is coming from someone who loves The Boys
Same though. Amazon has been leading the way for more "realistic" hero shows since they started with "The Tick"
All I’m wondering is how the comics can be even more brutal...
You can cut the last word doh
"Episode 1 - Omniman trains his son" | :\^D
"Episode 8 - Omniman trains his son" | D\^:
Bruh. The fucking. Train. WHO THINKS OF THAT?! I was screaming.
I was surprised mark didn’t go fucking crazy from that amount of trauma
I'm not squeamish at all but the way they set up the rest of the episode as a fun super hero comic, the ending had me sick to my stomach. Just shocking
Pretty sure they did it on purpose and man did they do a great job!
Yeah I enjoyed it
YUP, I’m glad someone gets it! I really enjoy The Boys and while Devilman Crybaby fucked me up thematically and the deaths of some characters were unbelievably tragic, the gore in and of itself didn’t make me squeamish.
This one, though, it fucked me up proper. Red Rush’s especially. And all of the rest too, tbh. I came _really_ close to hurling.
Darkwing hit me the hardest, it truly felt like hopeless for him
Man, at least Darkwing died quickly, Red Rush’s looked excruciatingly agonising. And that mace lady’s death hit me nearly as badly.
In most media when someone’s neck is snapped, it’s really mostly just the sound effect. This one… it _fucked_ with me.
Also, with Red Rush, there was just the previous scene where he was telling his gf/wife about how his perception of time is so fast even a short conversation feels like an eternity. So, from his perspective, he had to endor his head being crushed for what felt like literal days of pain
Edit: fixed some typing errors
God damnit now it hurts worse.
I thought that scene was shown from his perspective, bc thr other guardians seem to be moving toward him in slow motion before he dies
It was Green Ghost for me, the way she said "oh no" while holding one of the guardian's bodies and then got a literal hole in her head kinda broke something inside me. I'm also incredibly squeamish when it comes to gore except for Mortal Kombat weirdly, so it hit hard for me lol.
It’s the sudden, effortless way Omni kills her. It was so brutal and so fast to process.
Remember when we were so young and naïve...
I was like why does everyone compare Omni man and homelander. I was not prepared for those last ten minutes. Or even episode eight
Episode 8 was wayyyyy worse than the end of episode 1
Dude that subway scene my god. I sat there in silence trying to comprehend what I jsut saw
I sat there literally slack jawed
Thats exactly how i felt
I went into it without knowing anything except that it was a superhero thing. I thought it was gonna be an Incredibles type series about a father/son superhero team, with all sorts of heartwarming moments and Omni-man helping Mark overcome his teenage insecurities and become his best self.
Oh god, was I wrong!
I dropped episode 1 a couple minutes in. Kept seeing memes so gave it another shot today after weeks. Jesus. Binged the whole thing today. Pretty god dam good. But Jesus.
Yeppppp I think that’s everyone after finishing season 1 😂
Dude—you don’t even know....
Red Rush definitely left the show in a rush.
He speedran his appearance time
Changed that nigga’s name to Red ***Crush***
Sadly, from his perspective it was not a rush, it was an agonizingly slow excruciating death.
I thought I had a high tolerance for blood and gore until that last scene was like “hold my beer”
Particularly what he did to War Woman. That shit made my stomach do backflips
Train will hit you hard
Omfg this is no cap. The last 10 minutes had me like jolly fuck so this is what this is?
I just finished episode 1 and omfg came to post how mind blown I am
Same with Red Rush.
That was fucking epic. Like realistically he was there only chance of escaping alive and he was the first out
It's been 8 hours I assume you've completed the whole thing, what's the most gruesome scene in your opinion?
I'm on episode 6 bc I've been finishing an episode, telling myself I love it and need to make it last... then starting the next one
Yeah that's the usual response to this show
The best scene still is when omniman murders the entire justice league rip off, like I was not expecting that and loved every second
It does make a statement to the fact that, if you like a character, it doesn't mean that they'll survive
Btw can I ask since I didn't quite get an answer: is immortals or WAS his ability to regenerate? A bit like wolverine
No comment until you finish
Holy. Fucking. Shit. Immortal is alive
Edit: that didn't last long lol
2nd Edit: no one is dead until the writers SAY they are dead
Me at the beginning: “man this Cartoon Network shit is so boring”
Me at the end: :o
Tbh I was enjoying myself even before the twist. The twist just took it to another level.
It really speaks to the power of their writing team when they can establish characters, make you get attached to them, and then kill them off horrifically within one episode while also balancing it with another plotline involving Mark becoming a new superhero.
It's easier when you code them as already well established characters.
I'd never seen it before or read the comics. By the time I'd finished reading about the Guardians of the Globe on the wiki, Omni Man was tearing them apart.
My heart still aches for the poor little girl who was friends with Martian Man. They were so happy training together together 😢
Yeah, I was thinking to myself, oh that's neat a father/son dynamic in a superhero show wonder how that will turn out
True, the first episode is so cliché, until that scene appears.
It was cliche, sure, but I don’t think it was “boring” and “shit” like the other guy said. Honestly, I was hooked before the ending, but then I saw that...
Yeah, i wouldn't say it was boring and shit either but without that scene i probably wouldn't have kept watchin' it.
Idk. I thought it was pretty boring. I ended up fast forwarding to the end after 25 minutes.
Wait, really? You skipped through a show to get to the better parts? But that scene kinda hinges on the rest of the episode
I just don’t think the show is for me. Someone told me it was like The Boys, which I didn’t see at all (besides the violence at the end)
Guys I only read the end of the book and like...I don't get it, he just dropped the ring in the volcano along with some dude, I mean, who cares, right?? This is nothing like Harry Potter!
Yes, this 45 minute episode was incredibly hard to follow. As if there was anything to “get” from it.
I think you're good at missing the point.
You can't claim it's not like the boys if you haven't even watched the show though. In many ways it's actually far worse than the boys
I think that’s what they were going for. It was suppose to be mundane and boring so that when you see the last 3 minutes it will hook you in and surprise you
I really doubt it, the first minutes in a serie are too important to take a risk like that. Most of the viewers decide to keep watchin a serie by the first impression they have
I saw the first episode, and stopped watching for like a month. It really messed with me. Then I finished the series yesterday
Good thing after episode 8 you know that season 2 isn’t coming out anytime soon 😂
Seriously! I'm hooked, and now I want season 2 right now!
The Epic Ending of Ep. 01… surely surprising 😂
I think what makes the show so horrific is that it’s such standard DC superhero stuff until occasionally everything becomes extremely fuck. You never know when things are gonna turn brutal.
I really felt like I was watching animated Game of Thrones.
Especially Red Rush and Oberyn same vibes.
Me: Hmm.. this parody justice league kinda looks cool, let's see how do they....oh..nvm
I was like “this is so generic” and then that scene showed up
Has a really anime vibe to it, just finished the last episode and man... it's really good
Nah. Anime doesn’t have anyone that innately evil.
Have you watched a lot of anime ? There's some pretty evil dudes
I like how you downvoted it because you can’t take no for a response. Have a good day
Lol it wasn't even me who down voted you. Relax
Lol what a little bitchfit
Hey can you show us how you see who downvotes you. I think most people don't know.
Stop acting like a little bitch.
Why do you say that
Evil dudes that have to explain their motives and why they want to fight and kill. If you can give me an example of the said evil dudes that don’t do that in anime then go for it.
Mate anime is filled with psycopaths wtf are you talking about lol
Absolutely. Omniman was tame compared to a lot of "anime" villains.
Compared to what anime villians. If you are going to say something then why not actually have an actual rebuttal with valid proof for your response.
The Major, Shou Tucker, Griffith, The God Hand, Johan Liebert, Caster, The Chairman, just off the top of my head.
Hey, do me a favor, can you answer this for me:
There is your response
When you begin any of the manga or watching the anime, these villians are already portrayed as villians and being evil. It is expected that they will be brutal to a certain extent. However, they love to talk. Very typical and arrogant villians that end up losing in the end anyway after their long speeches. What is unsettling about Omni man is his silence. Same as darkseid. Darkseid can ramble however, But he doesn’t waste his time explaining himself and why he is a psychopath. Anime is made that way for the most part anyway, but even villians in marvel and dc like to keep wasting time talking about their long lost dreams of being the best of the best. I simply believe Omni man is a better villain for not spending his time exploiting his plans before smashing everyone’s brains.
I find it interesting that I am being targeted for disagreeing. To answer your question, I don’t even need to know you or someone else downvoted. Specifically, You believe I had a bitch fit as the other person that replied. I dont believe it is a bitch fit. More or less very disappointed that no one is willing to have a discussion, but rather immediately disagrees by downvoting because they are unable to have a reasonable discussion. People disagree. It is what it is. The problems are how people handle the disagreements.
> You believe I had a bitch fit as the other person that replied.
Uh... where did I ever say that. Now you're just making up fantasy scenarios in your head.
You agreed with them. Same difference
No, it's not. At all.
Omni-man does have a motive doh? He's trying to conquer earth for Viltrumite which is why he killed the guardians. There's a lot of evil guys like Madara and Father from FMAB and even Frieza was going around destroying whole planets.
“Mate”. Tell me which psychopaths do not ramble on about their sole purpose and how much better they are than the protagonist and their allies. I’m waiting for that response and then I will look up this villain to further explain my point and the difference between Omni man and the villain.
You didn't say anything about rambling shit, you said, and I quote, "Anime doesn't have anyone that innately evil".
And that's a lie, even in a tame anime like Dragonball villains like Freeza are more evil than Omni Man.
Why would frieza be more evil
Because Omni Man is following orders and actually thinks he's doing good. He's just a soldier. Freeza not only did much worse, but he was the mind behind it, he did evil for pleasure.
Fair point. I can see why you would think frieza is more evil.
People not watching the show must be like "what's taking everyone exactly two days to process all of a sudden?"
Went from Justice League animated series to The Boys real quick.
And there was no fucking music
Bruh I skipped the end credits scene and was so confused the next few episodes.
Yeah. I couldn’t stop thinking about it afterwards for a couple days. I had PTSD from it for that period of time.
Just popped my Invincible cherry. "This isn't a party for me either man." Lol
Netflix better secure irredeemable..
I literally showed my mom who had zero context of the entire show. I could tell she was expecting this to be some family friendly pg-13 show. She had her jaw dropped during the entirety of the ending.
I only realized there were after credits on the third episode 🥲. By then i kinda already figured out the twist but went back and watched lmao
Yes, but the emotional development was the other way around
You are gone like the last episode of season 1
I do love how it's such a slow roll for episode 1. It just ramps up hard at the end.
Then you have the final episode where it's 110% from start to finish
Oh buddy, you have yet to see the worst.
PepeLaugh he doesn't know
I just finished binge watching the show today and holy fuck I don't know how to feel
Watching this show high was a m i s t a k e
Man the ending of Ep 1 ACTUALLY set off my Fight or Flight Instinct
I kinda wish I could have gone in and watched this blind but I wouldn't have watched it unless I knew about the twist lol.
The Boys still surprised me because the way the first episode set it up I thought Homelander would be the "only good supe" who helps them
As soon as Omni Man crushed Red Rush's head I was hooked
I went into this completely cold after hearing someone mention it on a podcast. Just finished the first episode. YO WHAT THE FUCK.
This is definitely not what I expected, but I'm definitely watching the rest the next few days :D
Reading the series made us vets ready for it all
