I need advice with Imperial Knight army building, I have no experience on the battlefield with them.

To add onto this guy’s question as a new player myself, with 9th edition being more objective focused, wouldn’t it make more sense to go imperial over admec for that heirloom that lets you hold an objective regardless of unit count?
For pure knights maybe but for me its hard to give up the 1 wound heal every turn with mechanicus
Straight up, this is a good relic. But it doesn’t solve the problem of objective holding for knights. Even if it counts as 10 obsec models, it can still only hold 1 objective. And it prevents your knight from taking another relic.
In my experience, the ability of house krast and house raven (both Mechanicus houses) to throttle their damage output when necessary (their house stratagems are both really good) is so clutch.
Fervently pray everyone gets obsec in the new codex, whenever it comes
Oh! Is the Imp Knight Codex not updated? It would make sense if it wasn't, seeing as the cover has a significantly different look from the other books.
Nope. Still sitting with a no obsec army in an edition that is primarily focused on holding objectives…
No no, I’m not bitter
Easiest army to go with knights is admech, they can heal up knights and are pretty strong after their newest codex. As for units, I would recommend the serbyus raiders, Vanguard, and Tech-Priests
Sadly, no. Knight healing is gone. They can now only heal Forge World units.
Ah I must have read that wrong mb
The IG Enginseer is the same. But I imagine that will be gone when their codex updates. They are very anti Imperial soup this edition.
Do you means they can heal units with the same faction keyword or that they can heal forgeworld knights (cerastus, acastus, etc) because Games workshop's rules were updated but Forgeworld's rules are lagging behind again?
There is one exception - a Raven Knight can take the "Blessed by Metalica" warlord trait to get full healing from a metalican tech priest. Not really relevant unless you're running the full raven/metalica mixed army but it is there as a very niche option.
Knights and IG are like best buddies. They do the heavy support role guard use a lot very well. Even better than many of their own tanks, do to the melee ability and heightened survivability.
The sad thing is that at the moment you get pretty punished for supping.
In my humble experience(only 2 games lol) I have found running the freeblade house from the book of rust to help somewhat with the obsec problem. Downside, you have to spend a good amount of CP to make characters so you can double down on qualities and you still only count as 1 model ( except for the banner holder, who is 10) but if you can alpha strike your opponents obsec units at least you have a chance! It's a uphill battle but I love it!
