The disgust on the commissar's face is great.

Saelthyn

That's a Grade A Judge Dredd scowl.

WhatIsPants

I heard one thing in the way of a sequel is Karl Urban said making that face all day for filming gets really uncomfortable.

TheNathan

As someone who can do that super downturned mouth face, holding it for like 30 seconds is hard lol I bet that dudes face hurt so bad making that movie

Saelthyn

Understandable.

seninn

"Purging. Heretics were... uncooperative."

CDorson

This is sick.

Mervynhaspeaked

I'LL TELL YOU WHAT IS SICK SOLDIER, DYING FOR THE ENPEROR THATS SICK! JOIN THE IMPERIAL GUARD NOW!

person_of_your_group

Fighting for the emperor strengthens Nurgle now?

rustyglenn

I appreciate this superliminal message style

B33FHAMM3R

*"HEY! YOU TWO! JOIN THE NAVY!"*

rustyglenn

glad to see someone else knows what i'm thinking about.

That0nePers0ns

"I do believe that one was a genestealer" "So you knew that when you shot him?" "Well no...... lucky geuss"

NnjgDd

"He made eye contact when I walked by. The fear of the inquisition would not allow a normal human guardsman to make such a brazen disrespect of the high office."

KaptinKograt

"*I am one of the Emperors Angels of Death. This meeting could have been an email."*

McSpicylemons

Love how the commissar looks like he’s explaining to the inquisitor and space marine that they have a pest infestation. “Yeah, you got genestealers. Bad case of em too. See that pinkish purple skin tone? This guys a few generations into the infestation. Not good.”

Pantaleon26

Surely the inquisitor or the space marine would know what a gene stealer is before a commissar

B33FHAMM3R

Shhhh he doesn't know that! there's so few who know what's actually going on when they show up they wanted to let this guy have the W

B33FHAMM3R

Deathwatch Brother: "Eyuuup" Inquisitor: *"well I gotta thank you for coming all the way out here Stu, looks like we got a bit of work on our hands here. how are the kids?"*

janglejong3333

The space marine looks like an absolute unit. I’m in awe at the size of this lad

person_of_your_group

>"Transhuman dread. Aximand had heard iterators talk of the condition. He’d heard descriptions of it from regular Army officers too. The sight of an Adeptus Astartes was one thing: taller and broader than a man could ever be, armoured like a demigod. The singularity of purpose was self-evident. An Adeptus Astartes was designed to fight and kill anything that didn’t annihilate it first. If you saw an Adeptus Astartes, you knew you were in trouble. The appearance alone cowed you with fear. >"But to see one move. Apparently that was the real thing. Nothing human-shaped should be so fast, so lithe, so powerful, especially not anything in excess of two metres tall and carrying more armour than four normal men could lift. The sight of an Adeptus Astartes was one thing, but the moving fact of one was quite another. The psychologists called it transhuman dread. It froze a man, stuck him to the ground, caused his mind to lock up, made him lose control of bladder and bowel. Something huge and warlike gave pause: something huge and warlike and moving with the speed of a striking snake, that was when you knew that gods moved amongst men, and that there existed a scale of strength and speed beyond anything mortal, and that you were about to die and, if you were really lucking, there might be just enough time to piss yourself first." -Age Of Darkness Page 163

derp0815

Looks so much better than those zero perspective, zero anatomy things they use on Wikis or the weird beak designs.

TentativeIdler

Nah, the Inquisitor is just really short.

HeleGroteAap

Inquisitor is 5’11” and the space marine is 6’

RavenColdheart

A Primaris Space Marine is 7.5 to 8 foot tall, a normal Space Marine is 7 to 7.5 foot. The Deathwatch Marine is wearing Mk X Tacticus, so has to be a PSM. The nearly 2' for the inquisitor and Commissar seem reasonable.

TinyMousePerson

[It's a meme](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/743/893/d22.png)

RaZZeR_9351

r/whoosh

Shanhaevel

Yeah, but his head is too small. It's a cool art, but so many people draw Marines with weird proportions

NnjgDd

It's not a space marine it's 3 children dressed up like a space marine.

Pyronaut44

He looks like a goomba from the original Super Mario movie. https://i.redd.it/xu6xs4px13141.jpg

Shanhaevel

YES

derp0815

They do have a bunch of extra organs, but is there anything extra inside the head?

Kotoy77

The love of the Emperor.

Shanhaevel

Indoctrination

That Astartes is fucking huge

Goomba Marine https://i.redd.it/xu6xs4px13141.jpg

Wea_boo_Jones

"So as you see Commisar, this Guardsman was a genestealer!" "Really?! Emperor above, I was just giving the men some regular motivation"

ambitousworm

So good! Thanks for bringing this artist to my attention. Love the dude’s expression. Also nail polish!

Llidel

Holy shit what art

Unstable_Stills

Oooh, love this

Astral_lord17

I love that judge dredd level of frown on the commissar

gud-shoob

Love the scale they give to the astartes really makes them intimidating.

Beastlybeaver

The scale of that space marine is awesome, really puts the emphasis on what transhuman killing machines they are

Solshadess

Thick marine

Thuriss808

Absolutely badass. Love this.

ConstipatedUnicorn

Idk much about inquisitor lore but I've seen art here and there of various Inquisitors paired with what look like uniquely adorned space marine body guards/muscle. Anybody know if they are a particular chapter? Or is there lore about why they're often depicted with Inquisitors?

Pryderi_ap_Pwyll

I believe he is member of the Deathwatch, the Chamber Militant of the Ordos Xenos - Alien Hunters. Membership in the Deathwatch is drawn from elite veterans of many different space marine chapters. Their armor is painted black, but they keep the heraldry of their original chapter on their right pauldron (shoulder).

Joazzz1

He's of the Deathwatch, a special organization that recruits the best alien killers from other Marine chapters and serves as the militant arm of the Ordo Xenos. They're basically Space Marine Special Forces, routinely expected to go on impossible suicide missions and come out on top, like striking at the insides of Tyranid hive-ships or assassinating xenos commanders right in the heart of their territory. They also do things like hyper-classified, if-you-learn-of-this-you-must-die black operations for all sorts of shifty inquisitors.

person_of_your_group

The Death Watch is what you're looking for. It recruits from all Space Marine Chapters. They have the Inquisition Emblem on their Left shoulder and their Chapter symbol on the right.

Solshadess

It’s Deathwatch, they’re basically a collection of marines from different chapters who specialize in dealing with xeno’s, so they serve with the Deathwatch for about a century and often get tagged along with ordo xenos inquisitors

Gwuc

Love seeing some art of heavy intercessors. I sometimes feel gravis was only made for the tabletop.

Foehammer114

Really amazing art! Love the commissars expression of disgust

Alizonnwn

The servo scull looks sad :D

chambee

You are in trouble when the commissar, an inquisition and a Deathwatch Marine shows up.

InfinitePunchMan

Is that Space Marine a little too tall or is that a normal height difference?

Pyronaut44

FWIW I'd say the Marine is *slightly* too tall, but then the two humans in front of him look fairly short so eh. The Marine's head however... waaay too small. https://i.redd.it/xu6xs4px13141.jpg

InfinitePunchMan

You are right about the head lol, thanks for the reply.

Joazzz1

Space Marines are generally just tall enough to look impressive rather than following a defined scale. "A head over the biggest guy in the room" seems to be the norm. Their designer imagined them to be 7 feet in armor, but sometimes they're made to appear bigger for the sake of intimidation factor.

InfinitePunchMan

Yeah I guess there isn't a standard height, just seemed tall but Primaris is even taller. Thanks for the reply.

Solshadess

Considering primaris are in the range of 8 and a half ft tall on average I’d say he’s scaled properly

TheodorMohana

Marine seems to be the right height to me. https://imgur.com/7bawTNA The commissar is proportionate (roughly 7 heads high) and considering he is closer to the viewer, primaris marine is the correct height as well - around 8 feet tall in armor.

InfinitePunchMan

I love this unit of measurement, thanks for replying.

SnarlyOrange

It's a Primaris marine in power armor, pretty average to be honest but the inquisitor is bent over so it adds on.

InfinitePunchMan

Ah okay, thanks for replying

No-Comfortable-5732

What's the medium? And also - Q. for anyone: How do you rationalize the scale in art like this, like the marine is just absolutely vast when although they are obviously superhuman, aren't proportions like that sort of crazy? Particularly if there's a human head inside the helmet. And yet kind of looks... cool... still.

Kotoy77

they are physically much bigger. they go through a genetic manipulation process when young. kinda like giving fertilizer to a human. its not a normal sized human inside that armor.

No-Comfortable-5732

No, I know that much but usually the suggestion is that they are still much closer to normal size than this pic. Think about the actual miniatures. Ie maybe they are superhuman and like 7 or 8ft tall with absolutely perfect physical form. But if you actually visualise someone in that suit in the picture with those proportions its like 12 ft tall with really long legs and arms, like really bizarrre.

orangefantaseltzer

The Inquisitor looks a little ,dare I say toothy. The Deathwatch Ultramarine is fucken jacked. Horrible trigger discipline also but nobody gonna say anything

Shot-Law-2253

I love when people redesigns space marines. The smaller head in relation with the body gives the feel that they are huge.

Gawkhimm

From the artist Artstation; \*Inquisitor Jenita Huln of the Ordo Xenos at the sight of investigation with Commissar Gilliam Svenkov and Deathwatch Lieutenant Agamemnon; had recieved word of suspected Xenos activity on planet Aurelia Secundus. The nature of the information and location of the planet had her instinct tell her that the threat would possibly be much greater than it appeared. For this mission she decided to requisitioned the help of the Deathwatch and asked her trusted ally from many missions past Agamemnon to acompany her down to the sight of investigation. Her suspicions were right. What she found was without a doubt a tendril of the Genestealer Cult, and their roots run deep and wide...\*

[deleted]

I must add my praise to the choir, such great artwork.

Kizrock94

So I'm curious about Inqusition: Do they have a private army? Is that army including Space Marines and Sisters as well? Also, what do they deal with? Do they fight in frontlines?

Dr_Sodium_Chloride

In theory, an Inquisitor can draw on whatever resources they need to fight the hidden enemies of the Imperium wherever they find them. In practice, most Inquisitors keep a fairly small retinue of experts (In proper D&D party fashion, there's usually a few expert killers, a nerd, a social guy, etc...) who help them in investigations, because it's hard to remain undercover when you've got an entire army. They'll usually recruit useful people as they go; "Oh, you tried to kill me when you thought I was just a ganger, but you came damn near close, so I'm hiring you. Do not resist." kinda shit. Some Inquisitors do keep personal armies (usually closer to Tempestus Scions or generic Guardsmen), but they're the exception as the most smash-fucker Inquisitors. Others will just petition local military leaders for forces if they find they need an army, and usually get whatever they ask for. Inquisitors sometimes end up on the frontlines, but they're usually more like space detectives; different Ordos have different focuses. An Ordo Xenos Inquisitor might be tracking down who's supplying local gangs with Tau guns, or (as in this image) investigating Genestealer corruption in the Guard. Ordo Hereticus will be looking for rogue witches, heretical priests sabotaging the war effort, gang leaders who pray to Khorne, etc... Ordo Malleus is hunting demons, and those who are attempting to summon them.

B33FHAMM3R

"woah you almost killed me, you're hired." That's the exact attitude I would expect Inquisitors to have in a universe like 40k, just using whatever resources they can drum up to their advantage, cause let's be real they would need all the help they can get. More like a Spectre from mass effect than some religious fruitcake that gets hung up on tiny technicalities and has all his allies walking on eggshells.

malumfectum

The Inquisitor is about four feet tall!

adidas_stalin

“I do believe this man is dead.”

jgarciajr1330

This picture reminds me of this: https://youtu.be/IEGo41443iI

ALM_nerd

I feel like we as a fandom forget HOW FUCKIN TALL MARINES ARE! Like even first born are pretty goddamn tall at about 7 ft tall(a little over 2 meters). And this guy probably is first born I can’t imagine how a primaris marine would look beside some 5’7 schmoe(170 cm)

Eats_Beef_Steak

Whys his head so smol

Whisperingsoup

" Commissar, shoot open his head. For scientific reasons."

Inkedcells

Drunk on the job again steve

ghostnight05

Hey Captain Titus, how was the rubicon?

Doughnut-Dunker

I really like the comical facial expression of the commissar, almost like he is sad the hunt is over. Looking at the marine reminds me of a *The All Guardsman Party* quote: >One of the Marines responded with a vaguely-agreeable grunt, earning him an angry look from his partner **(all looks are angry in Power Armor)**.

comixcam

For god’s sake people, it’s a Primaris Marine, of course he makes the Inquisitor look small!!
