I blame modern media.
Attack on Titan made big derpy-looking hairless bipedal hominidae look like giant evil hungry hungry hippos that will just grab smaller primates and eat them alive if they don't hide up in trees and stuff.
Most great apes aren't even carnivores. We're mainly omnivores. Stereotyping isn't right.
Oh she's saw it.
That's why she's like "Hell na. Moms ALWAYS die in AoT Eren's mom? EATEN ALIVE. Armin's mom? Died from titan attack. Misaka's mom? Killed by thugs. Historia's mom? Assassinated. Connie's mom? Turned into a titan. Levi's mom? Died of STDs. Ymir? Enslaved, forced to have children, forced to protect the king that abused her, then got eaten by her children, and then spend a few thousand years building sand giant people statues with her bare hands by herself in an isolated alternate reality desert."
Nah, human language is just completely different than animal language.
We've front facing eyes like every other predator. When a predator is staring at you it means trouble
Maybe the mom tried to pull a Casey Anthony and get rid of the baby, but the human foiled her plan. Then she noticed the camera and had to take the baby back before the police come.
Honestly, I’m glad that ended well, but I would be worried about getting bitten in a situation like that. Monkeys can be brutal when they feel threatened, and you don’t wanna be on the receiving end of that.
Mom is like "I put that baby there for a reason goddamnit! I am scoping out new homes for us and I left the baby somewhere I thought was safe while I made sure there weren't any fucking snakes or jaguars hiding in this tree here."
Seriously. Cause they do this. If you find a baby squirrel lying on the middle of your driveway, leave it alone for 30 minutes, cause momma probably left it there on purpose, temporarily.
> If you find a baby squirrel lying on the middle of your driveway, leave it alone for 30 minutes, cause momma probably left it there on purpose, temporarily.
Yes, this. In fact, this pretty much applies to ALL baby animals. Take cats, for example - they move their kittens from one "nest site" to the next every few days, because keeping them too long in one place will make it too easy for predators to pick up their scent. The cat mother can only carry one kitten at a time, so every time she moves them, there's the danger that some well-meaning human will "rescue" a kitten. The mother WILL come back for her baby; just leave them be, or at the very least watch from a LONG distance for 30 minutes to an hour before concluding that the mother is dead or whatever.
This is the first time I've seen a comment on Reddit about cats existing outdoors without it being followed up by 10 people explaining cats shouldn't be outdoors.
Granted, the comment is less than an hour old, buried 100 nested comments deep, and you didn't say anything about the cats being someone's pet, but it was still a nice moment in my timeline.
Mom was like "fuck sake, I made it look so perfectly like the little bugger just slipped and fell, next thing you know, along comes a car - **bazinga!** \- the perfect crime. But no, no, you just *had* to do the whole superhero act didn't you, Gary, all for your *fake-ass* internet points"
Shhhh...I selfishly think we should let everyone continue to believe that Brazil is one big giant hell-hole so that the rest of us can enjoy Brazil's gazillion pristine beaches, native forests, and the unbelievable generosity and hospitality of the Brazilian people in peace! ;)

Damn you live in a cool place nature wise. In my state (wyoming) every spring on campus we have praying mantis outbreaks. I kept one just loose in my dorm for a while. His name was gerald.
Love how they kept looking back and forth, like they're shocked another creature—a large probably predatory creature in their mind—is giving their baby back. Like "Holy Shit, what is going on, this is a blessing. Thankyou. Is this a trick?"
I think I found the answer

Actually this is a very cute common marmoset!
Lion tamarins have a golden color as a part of their coloring.
Marmosets and tamarins are together in the same family but actually aren’t monkeys! Just a few creature facts!

It must be incredibly bewildering to see a different species, higher than you on the food chain, treat you as more than just lunch. More than just ignoring you, but actively helping you. That little brain couldn’t process it. 😊

Mom was afraid to take her baby back. So glad baby was able to grip that tree. Animals are great. ♥️
Probably afraid the human would grab her as soon as she let her guard down to grab it
Yeah we're big scary apex predators. She waited until the human stepped back before she grabbed the baby.
She really did NOT waste a second looking away from the 1000x tall hairless tailless version of her species.

It doesn't have characteristics typical of those fake rescue videos.
I'd be nervous of what is essentially a titan too lol
Maybe the mom tried to pull a Casey Anthony and get rid of the baby, but the human foiled her plan. Then she noticed the camera and had to take the baby back before the police come.
This is the most likely explanation

Yeah, but cars on pavement put a real wrinkle in that strategy. This guy did the right thing.
Right, this is the human way of saying no, that's not a good place to nest. And the momma doesn't even need to sacrifice her baby for that knowledge!

Ok where can I live where there are tamarind running around wild?
Central and South America. If I only I spoke Spanish or Portuguese
I don’t think the tamarins would mind what language you speak.
I don't think the tamarins would either (the guy above me originally wrote “tamarinds”)
I don't think the Timurids would either.
I meant for moving to the place where I can see Tamarin on my walk home.

Can confirm, there are wild tamarin here in São Paulo state :) and fairly common too
Tamarinds are a plant, so hopefully they don't run around anywhere.
If these are Tamarinds, I’m going to be very upset about to learn how they make those delicious Jarritos sodas.
Squeeze to extract the juice.
Oh, so it’s the same. *The humans at Jarritos were not, in fact, being bros.*
Yes, very un-bro-like of them.
There's a family of them that I can see from my window. Here in Brazil is called Soin.
Yeah I wish I lived in a country that has primates carrying about. I just have squirrels.

I think they are a little smarter than that considering this huge monke looking thing just brought her baby without harming it.
super cute video. these are marmoset monkeys, but they do look very similar to lion tamarins.
Seconded. These are marmosets not tamarins. Golden lion tamarins look well like a golden lion.

Fourthed. Lions aren't these monkeys.

You never know, really.
Most messed up lie we heard as kids " Don't help baby animals or their mothers will reject them and they'll die anyway."
In some cases thats true, with some rodents for example.
Sometimes it's okay.

She probably whooped it’s ass for letting go lol
So this is where the monkeypox cases are coming from.
