Think of anything on the ol' Cartesian (x, y) plane. Now when you think of it in 3space instead of flat, what does the z value ***have to*** be? Is it anywhere up & down the z dimension, or is it at z's origin?

Trulydontknowza

In this case would it be in the z origin, I’m just wondering since the z value is 0 will I get the same line with x and y, or does the zero of the z still have an affect on the graph

ZacHefner

Got it. Same line. The 0 just indicates it’s happening in 3D instead of a plane. If you were graphing in 4-space, you’d write (4, 3, 0, 0) and so on, but we only need to indicate what space were playing with.
