SPY and Gulch on the more hardcore side. every hc kid loves Title Fight tho its a little poppy-er but their old stuff is legendary
I like Bad Seed, I wish title fight was back, but as bad seed
We all do
bad seed so good, ik they have title fight members but who exactly
Also to answer your question
Shane (vocals), Ned (bass), and Jamie (guitar).

Stop giving this man suggestions til we figure out what his ears dig so far. Breath people
I’d say that my favs that I’ve listened to so far are turnstile, void, and backtrack if that helps!
If you’re just getting into hardcore:
Trapped Under Ice, Expire,
Expire was good until some of the members were outed for sexual misconduct apparently. I hate it when shit like this is so hazy, on the one hand they acknowledged it and apologized. But on the other, it's hard for me personally to distinguish the art from the artist when it gets to shit like that. >!ray cappo being antivaxx is a real downer, but I can set that aside when jamming or seeing YOT live.!< But something that's predatory, is definitely something I can't put aside when jamming an artist personally.
I digress though, great list, old cruel hand is often overlooked.
Oh yea totally forgot about that. Hard to keep up with what bands/members fucked up these days. Fuck Expire then. Good music doesn’t overshadow shitty behavior.
My favorite HC record of all time is Set It Off by Madball. Also love Sunami, Gorilla Biscuits, Have Heart... give these a shot!
Check out Higher Power and Down to Nothing.
You have to use Waybackmachine to access it, but the old Kill From The Heart database is the ultimate guide to old hardcore. Won't help you with the new stuff, but it's quite the rabbit hole to go down if you're just getting into this.
Holy shit, I've never seen that before. I looked up my own home state and it's a fucking '80s hardcore treasure trove. That's an excellent resource.
Yeah dude. It used to be a staple among people who geeked out about early 80s stuff in the early 00s. Then the guy running it stopped maintaining it and it wasn't hosted anymore. There's awesome shit on there though. There used to be a killer mix tape linked in there too, but I haven't seen that link in ages.
Turnstile to me has a bit of a Snapcase sound. This is from the 90's.
Snapcase - Steps https://youtu.be/S8D1YyNuunQ
If u liked it here's the full ep this is from. 4 songs less than 13 min https://youtu.be/Jy2nvGbBbiM perfect front to back
Turnstile is what happens when Snapcase and 311 have some sort of weird love child together.
Hahaha thats good
and I’m not talking smack, I like Turnstile.
Nah i figured u meant good things. Both bands are talented. I hope OP checks out our recommendations and has some good feedback.
Since u like Gorilla Biscuits, check out CIV - Do Something https://youtu.be/vVr_1Mpgd70 singer for Gorllia Biscuits just a few yrs older. They have a bit more punk rock influence on the album but also the hardcore background. From the 90's again
Gorilla Biscuits were heavily influenced by Dag Nasty. Check out “Can I Say,” and “Wig Out at Denko’s” are best to start.
title fight, turnstile, backtrack are what really got me hooked. they're also still my favorites
Just listened to turnstile and backtrack, I think I found 2 bands going on my phone permanently.
Hell yeah!! They're definitely the easiest to start with. Personally I only like vocals that sound like screaming but never growling which might be the same w/ you? Lmk if you need any more suggestions! Also seriously check out Symmetry by Title Fight, I think you'd dig them (my fav personally)
They honestly sound a bit like the music I listened to as a kid, just a bit more.. grown up in a way? I don’t know quite how to explain it, but the guitar and vocals feel very familiar which I think is why I’m so into them. Thanks for the suggestions!
What songs/bands have you enjoyed so far? We can give some good suggestions based on that.
Regardless, though, listen to Cold World. And Minor Threat.
After listening to a few I’ve been suggested, I’ve found I most enjoyed turnstile, backtrack, and void. I also quite like the adolescents and title fight but the first 3 are definitely my fav so far and going into my playlist permanently
Cold World? That band got a bunch of metal shit
Please shut the fuck up forever.
stop posting metal nerd
Go listen to Kublai Khan lmaooooo
That a really good way to make people angry from PA down to Florida.
Shut up nerd
shut up pantera fan
What the fuck is wrong with Pantera? You sound like me when I was 12 and "too punk for metal ahaha!"
Say what you want about the band as a whole but that demo ripped and I won't hear anyone say anything different.
What’s people’s gripe with Krimewatch? Like I remember when they started popping people seemed excited. And then shortly after that seemed to change
They’re pretty terrible live.
Granted, I’ve seen only them once, but I’ve got a few friends who have seen them a few times.
They’re notoriously sloppy/seemingly ill prepared.
There's alot of threads in past few years about Krimewatch, in summary, and don't quote me on this cause it's been awhile. But the most frequent reasons I saw people bashing them were: "Not being able to play their instruments", "Not attending shows they weren't billed for" and "cancelling dudes in the scene who did nothing wrong." I dunno personally, but that's just what I'd always hear on this sub. Liked the demo though.
honestly i like krimewatch, i saw them at the sound and fury aftershow. they weren’t the best live, but they weren’t terrible. -now, they fucking ripped on their japan tour. so it’s all opinion i guess
Hostage Calm (first album), Have Heart, Punch, Torso, Gulch, Integrity, Earth Crisis, Sunstroke, Give, Embrace, Spazz, Nails, Baptists, ACxDC, Weekend Nachos, Power Trip, Mil-Spec, Bib, Gag, World Be Free, Impalers, Warthog, Fiddlehead, Anxious, Drug Church, Spirits, Burn, Judge, Inside Out, Reality Slap, Higher Power
Backtrack, down to nothing, expire, terror, wolf down is a couple to get ya going
This right there 🔥
This is the ultimate test to see if you like h/c.
The first time I heard d-beat, my mind was blown:
From Ashes Rise
Just out of curiosity what were you into before ?
As embarrassing as it might be to admit here, I largely listened to stuff like screamo and pop-punk and whatnot. I still listen to some of it now, if I’m honest, I have a pretty broad music taste. I remember my 50-year-old dad once described the music as “kinda like punk, but without a reason to be angry”, which while I can’t speak on the accuracy of his observation, I still think is hilarious.
Dude a lot of people on this sub like pop punk. Emo stuff. One of the bands recommended to you, Title Fight, is arguably a pop punk band. You should definitely check stuff out like Set Your Goals, Lifetime, The Movielife. I’d say stuff like that walks the line of hardcore / pop punk
Edit : what your dad said is pretty funny lol
And Fireworks. If we are going on the poppy side.
And the first Saves the Day album.
Good to know! I’ve had interactions in the past with people who were super judgemental over what I listened to, so I guess I was just worried I’d get a bad reaction. I’ll add that to my list of suggestions and take a look.
Only been mentioned once here but definitely check out Incendiary
