You did have a right to attend the funeral. Even if you didn't know him long, you cared about him, you had a shock and a sad loss. Guilt is part of grief, one of the hardest parts. It might help to write him a letter to say the things you didn't get a chance to say. Even if you would have broken up, he was part of your life and should not have been taken away like that. I'm sorry for your loss.

Thank you for replying! I actually have many late night, one sided conversations with him. He just doesn’t respond but I feel him with me.

As a person who constantly feel guilty, let me tell you after reading this, I don’t see why should you feel guilty. Zero. Please try not to be so hard with yourself... the pain, the grief are enough.... dont add guilt to the mix... Im so sorry for your loss. Hugs.
