I hope Iwasa stays at Dams. They just need to get rid of Nissany and could do pretty well next season.

apexcoach

hauger will leave prema and iwassa will not leave dams. maybe both bold predictions but that is what I am hearing. I also predict bearman moving up. if enzo can find the money he might be the kind of veteran that prema needs to try and refine the car. or doohan but mick Doohan and bearman handlers seen talking to var would be an odd combo there. most of the top team seats are 50 to 100 percent set already depending on the team. edit: I want to add something about sargeant. I know all the sargeant fans are anxious but Im hearing both williams and carlin are not so anxious. what's more is his form from silverstone and red bull ring is not expected to continue so he could end up a place or two lower in the points. then it might be worth coming back and refining his driving with a second year. no one wants him to enter f1 in the hardest car and fail and another year in f2 might help increase his f1 longevity. I see this as very likely if he is not top 2 or 3 in points at year end.

Lasttimebutthistime

Who do you think Prema would get instead? All the suggestions so far were Hauger/Leclerc for 2023 but the Prema/Hauger combination has been pretty underwhelming so far and Rene Rosin publicly criticised Leclerc in a F3 article so doesn’t seem particularly happy with him.

apexcoach

I see doohan leclerc or enzo leclerc. could be another surprise veteran. the ferrari ties are too strong I think. unless leclerc gets beat by either of his teammates this year in points which could easily happen.

Lasttimebutthistime

That’s interesting. I had wondered if they might want Bearman if he finishes close to Leclerc in the standings, especially as Bearman seems to be performing really well last few rounds and seems to have learnt from his earlier mistakes. Also that makes a lot of sense what you said about Sargeant.

Violetta_ag

Wait what? Would you mind sending the link about Rene Rosin please?

Lasttimebutthistime

It’s in the article on F3 website - he criticises Leclerc for the Crawford collision in the sprint race

hehe9live

I think Arthur will still be given the Prema seat (I might be wrong)

racingfan96

> I also predict bearman moving up. What? Wasn't Prema F3 line-up set for next year as Aron, Beganovic, Bearman? Do you think he will go to F2 with VAR?

apexcoach

things change. probably not var. most likely leading them on to use their testing equipment in offseason.

racingfan96

Who do you think will get Prema F3 seats next year?

anemone-nemorosa

Hopefully Antonelli. Generally speaking, out of 30 guys on F3 grid, 20 are completely harmless, 5 might be good but inconsistent and 5 can actually compete for the title. Seeing Hadjar perform like this against competitive grid, there's no doubt someone of Antonelli's calibre can do the same or at least similar. Also going against Aron and Beganovic while being two and a half years younger really removes all the pressure from him. FRECA is a waste of time anyways.

hehe9live

Antonelli should be in F3 next year if we're real, FRECA should be for those who weren't good in enough in F4 or don't have the budget for F3

gregdrou

Do you have information about Hauger or its a prediction?

apexcoach

both

Birkenstern

Verschoor said that he wants to stay another season

jadermeani

He's the kind of driver that would be paid to say in F2 or at least get a big discount.

Virtual_Renaissance

pretty gud thoughts. yea that lawson one is the most difficult to figure out since he's in that awkward 2nd/3rd year of F2 period. I reckon he'll leave based on what he said in a twitch stream. "My plans are already confirmed, we'll reveal them in time", which I would deduce as he's likely remaining a part of the RB academy and will get a different opportunity. Perhaps going down the Super Formula route would be a possibility. This'll mean he'll remain in the F1 conversation, though perhaps the fringes.

AJ_Goh

There're surely some rich but underperformed F3 drivers get the seats in F2 next season

boomf18

I imagine Colapinto and O’Sullivan might stick around F3 for a second season and try to grab seats to compete for the championship at Prema/ART.

apexcoach

osullivan at hitech makes a lot of sense

jadermeani

If Colapinto goes to F2 I would expect him to stay at VAR. It's hard to think Novalak will stay at MP. Collet is a good bet for one of the seats anyway.

alexhughes69

I think collet and maini will partner in mp

jadermeani

I really hope so, Collet is underperforming but I'm pretty sure that he can emulate Enzo and Drugovich rookie seasons.

alexhughes69

No I think the mp car has not been up there tbh. I think collet deserves the f2 seat and maini also, they both have been quite even in quali pace and they seem to work well together.

vnnair123

Read somewhere that Mumbai falcons' CEO Moid Tumdekar visited the Virtuosi factory. I hope it's in an attempt to find Kush Maini a seat in f2 next year. He definitely does seem to have the pace.

dm17b123

I think he’d benefit from another year of F3, he has pace but is inconsistent. Rushing him into F2 isn’t going to solve that. One weekend he looks right up there along with with Collet and Smolyar and the next weekend he’s nowhere. If he can get the consistency sorted he can do well, he looked very good this past weekend he just needs more of those performances.

alexhughes69

Well in quali battles it’s 3 - 3 between maini and smolyar and remember smolyar is on his 3rd year. He definitely has the pace, the kid didn’t race at all in 2021 I think he is super impressive and deserves a f2 seat tbh.

dm17b123

Not sure how you’re getting 3-3? Smolyar missed Silverstone so you can’t count that which means there’s only 5 rounds to compare. It’s 3-2 including Bahrain where Kush missed the weighbridge, acknowledge the subsequent deletion of his lap and it’s 4-1. I just don’t see why there’s any need to rush him? A second year in F3 potentially in a better car makes much more sense to me than going to F2 and possibly getting lost in the shuffle. He’s had his good weekends, he was impressive coming through the field in Bahrain and was great in Hungary but outside of those rounds (and also the Silverstone sprint) he’s been somewhat anonymous at times. I don’t see any harm in giving him another year to gain experience and develop as a driver before moving up.

alexhughes69

His lap in Bahrain stands it was a grid penalty go look at the official results. So it’s 3-2 with a guy who is on his 3rd year. If you look at potential maini is way beyond. And don’t forget imola where he finished 5th in the feature race and was running 3rd in the sprint when he got a drive through. So I really don’t see it us rushing him seeing the way he has improved this year. If you just look at Bahrain and imola he lost so many points he would be in the top 7 ahead of his teammates right now. The only rounds he has been no where is RedBull ring and Barcelona. The rest he has been super quick.

vnnair123

I think the MP car has been quite poor this season except for last weekend. He's also been quite unlucky a couple of weekends to not have put in a lap in quali like in Austria which caused him to start from the back. Keeping in mind that hes a rookie, I think hes done decently well. This season, we've seen several drivers turn up in f2 despite not looking the part prior to the season like in the case of Iwasa and Enzo. F2 would be a completely new level and every rookie who graduates along with kush (if he does) will start at ground zero. So yes. I don't mind if he does another year in f3 but I wouldn't mind if he gets promoted to f2 either.

alexhughes69

Agreed look at Iwasa last year in f3. And kush has definitely shown he has the pace, the one weekend his car is as good as the Prema’s he right up there battling with them. And this is after a year out! And don’t forget maini started both Bahrain races from the pitlane when he qualified 3rd plus his grid box penalty wile running 3rd in imola.

vnnair123

Exactly. Maini could very well move up to f2

ztpurcell

I would be rock hard for that Virtuosi lineup

vnnair123

My prediction Prema Leclerc Enzo Virtuosi Doohan Smolyar ART Vesti Martins Carlin Haugar Iwasa Hitech Hadjaar Crawford MP Collet Maini Charouz Correa Bolukbasi VAR Cordeel Colapinto DAMS Nissany Stanek Campos Boshong Caldwell Trident Vershoor Williams Others in the mix:- O'sullivan, Novalak, Sato, some back marker in f3 who's got the cash. I also have a feeling one of the current f2 back markers will get a top seat like Sato did this year. P.S I've tried to make it as spicy while being as realistic as possible.

hehe9live

With Sato getting the Virtuosi seat in 2022, I can even see Amaury Cordeel paying himself into a Prema seat like Gelael did
