My first project! Simple but I'm happy with how it turned out

My first project! Simple but I'm happy with how it turned out

Paprikal

The pattern is from DMC, "Inside the greenhouse". The text is a personal touch ;)

ashbauk

Some of those DMC patterns are really great! I've got a bunch saved, and currently working on the Little Mushroom Girl.

Jainelle

Are you proposing to have the rich all killed first in order for you to compost them?

dscottboggs

They can avoid being composted by handing over their hoarded stolen wealth

Paprikal

Well, not that literally. But it's a play on the famous anti-capitalist slogan "Eat the rich".

AndrzejDuda2020

Nah, compost them alive.

SirKerlTNT

Tuesday’s free

AndrzejDuda2020

Thanks for award kind stranger. Remember, Don't waste money on awards.

SirKerlTNT

wait I didn’t award?

AndrzejDuda2020

Then you got awarded.

rando4724

Don't worry, you're *infinitely* closer to becoming homeless than you'll ever be to being rich enough for anyone to come after *you*, and those who are rich enough, don't give two shits about you and the rest of the bootlickers so pathetically standing up for them.. 🙄🙄

Sh3master

I love the way the cursive letters were done. The difference in thickness make them look great. Really great job. P.S. any tips would be appreciated.

Paprikal

Thank you very much! Not sure I can give that many tips since it's the first time I do this, but here's what I did: I found a font on word that fitted what I wanted, got it to a size that matched my loop, then carefully traced it on my fabric with a pencil just by putting my fabric against my screen (you can probably print it too but I don't have a printer haha). Then I backstitched it (this video helped me: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z\_FFXiXGNs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z_FFXiXGNs)) Hope that helps!

Sh3master

It seems you backstitched in the same direction that it would be written with a pen right? (I mean for the thick lines) Or the thick lines were stitched in perpendicular direction? (horizontal in this case). I am always making images and figures, never did letters lol. But I was thinking in giving one present to a friend with his name, and think in trying something similar, that's why I am asking.

Swordofmytriumph

I do calligraphy. Your embroidery is better than my calligraphy! Beautiful!

Paprikal

Thank you! But I could neeever do this freehand, I traced it using a font on word

hanbananabunny

this is amazing for a first project!! the whole thing, but the letters are super impressive!

Paprikal

Thank you so much! I spend a looot of time on these letters haha

flirtycraftyvegan

If you love this concept, you may be interested in recompose. Washington state based company that I'm currently paying to precompose my corpse when I die. I'm here for any questions you may have. 💜

MonsterMashGrrrrr

out of curiosity, how much does it cost to be turned into dirt? (the answer is $5,500, if anyone is wondering)

flirtycraftyvegan

https://recompose.life/

deviantbyblood

Free, but the cops have a habit of interrupting the process smh

Paprikal

Oh yeah, I've heard of that! Not exactly what I had in mind with this piece but it's definitely a cool concept. Thanks for the info!

flirtycraftyvegan

Welcome!

made-of-bees

That’s so cool! I’m gonna be turned into a tree after I die.

flirtycraftyvegan

What practice/method/technique will be used for that??

made-of-bees

https://www.capsulamundi.it/en/

flirtycraftyvegan

That's a cool concept, once available for bodies, but I'm reading this as nothing more than a biodegradable urn for ash remains of a cremated body. Not comparable to having a corpse composted, but thank you for sharing!!

budzywudzy

Great work! The lettering is sooo pretty!! r/composting might get a kick out of this too if you wanna cross post!!!

Paprikal

Thank you!! And great idea, I'll go have a look there

quietfellaus

Beautiful work with a thought-provoking message. 10/10

TrondroKely

This is absolutely glorious!

germanasofs

It's so neatly done and so beautiful... first project?? oh my

BabyTapir

Right!? I’m like 5 projects in and none of my work is even close to this nice!

Drawn-Otterix

I like this phrasing better than "eat the rich"

Paprikal

More eco friendly 😊 Also the joke is that generally you shouldn't eat organism at the top of the food chain, because they accumulate toxin. So composting is safer!

queequeg123

but my pile is so sensitive to grease :)

Paprikal

haha yeah mine is too. Thankfully we have a city-wide compost system that can pretty much take anything :P so I guess the solution is to organize collectively (and seize the means of composting hihi)

Drawn-Otterix

Interestingly enough, Oregon just passed a law permitting burial human composting.

x-nder

I would like to die in Oregon please

medusas-garden

I love the intersection of anti capitalism, plants, and fiber arts. That whole aesthetic is right up my ally. Besides how clever the script is it’s so clean and perfect!!! Great first project!

Paprikal

Thanks a lot! I'm really glad you liked it. I love the combination of traditional handcraft and radical politics, especially because it's so rare. And plants are just nice in any context!

TheotheTheo

Y'all know you're rich, right? If you make more than 35k you're top 1% income earners worldwide.

deviantbyblood

Literally 40% of Americans live at or near the poverty line

HiddenKrypt

Rich is a relative term, as you're accurately grasping at. Which is why Marxism provides a far more useful and universal standard for the bourgeoisie. "Rich" can be more practically defined as the people in capitalism who hoard the means of production. Basically, anybody who profits off the labor of others, which naturally includes landlords and anybody who has employees. The people responsible for every systemic problem we face. As Communism is a global movement, the fact that americans earn more than other countries is a concern of ours as well. Communism will lift all lives up together. Other countries are poor right now *because* America is rich. There are no underdeveloped nations, only over-exploited ones. Ending inequality in just america isn't the goal. We are not free until we're all free. And now I gotta figure out how to encapsulate all of this into a nice embroidery pattern. Luckily OP did a fantastic job of summing it up already.

medusas-garden

Bold of you to assume I make more than 35k but that is still poor in America. That is still being exploited. My parents were DOCTORS in the Middle East and back in the 80’s and 90’s and made pennies compared to what they should’ve gotten due to war and inflation from sanctions. People died from hunger and violence and depression and PTSD. My parents have almost nothing saved for retirement and they’re in their 60’s because they spent the vast majority of their lives fighting to survive. Don’t talk to me about how WE’RE the rich to be eaten. Also, even for people who make well over 35k, they are not the rich we’re talking about. Even if you make 100k or 200k. We’re talking about the ultra rich that actively exploit other people and wring them dry for profit. Having money isn’t inherently evil, it’s how you got it, how you hoard it, and how you greedily exploit other people for it. Your lack of critical thinking skills is really showing.

TheotheTheo

Why would you think that when the revolution comes that it would play by your rules?

TheGhostCarp

Someone’s been watching too many right-wing brain soup-ifiers.

AndrzejDuda2020

Because every one of us hates billionaires.

Caffeine_Queen_77

It's a simple math equation. There are a HELL of a lot more of us than them.

ONION_BUTT

LMFAO the revolution

Caffeine_Queen_77

Quick, someone alert the leader of antifa, they're on to us! /s

rando4724

Just gonna copy pasta because I hate investing energy in to the likes of you: Yo do realise that you (along with all those you're disingenuously calling rich) are infinitely closer to becoming homeless than you'll ever be to being rich enough for anyone to come after you (or them), and that those who are rich enough, don't give two shits about you and the rest of the bootlickers so pathetically standing up for them, right? 🤦‍♀️

TheotheTheo

The kulaks would disagree

teafunnystone

What stitch did you use for the words? They look amazing!

Paprikal

Thanks a lot! I just used a back stitch, with one strand. That video helped me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z\_FFXiXGNs

42koelkasten

Love it! r/craftivists would love this!

Paprikal

Cool sub, I had never heard of it! Thanks!

ShivaSkunk777

THIS. THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING. You think eating the rich is a good idea!? You think that’ll taste good!? Disgusting. This is way better. Beautiful flowers and veggies. I love it

imabeautyqueen

Lovely ❤️ simple is the best dear 😛

YellowPencilSkirt

Well now I feel bad about my current lettering project that is for an important gift and looks nothing like that

Caffeine_Queen_77

I promise you that to the recipient, it will look like a work of great beauty. Trust them to know the value of your love. ❤️

Paprikal

Please don't feel bad! I'm sure the person will be touched regardless. I've detailed how I did the letters on another comment if you want some pointers

RabadonSexcap

absolutely stunning!!! the lettering is *chef's kiss*

deviantbyblood

I love how based this sub is. Beautiful work ❤️

Scary_Disaster_5811

Love it!

Deathchariot

People in embroidery are suprisingly leftist lol

scientifichooligan76

Its not that big of a surprise when you think about it, it takes quite a bit of time to get good at and is dominated by women.

Paprikal

Haha yeah I was expecting more people to be mad :p

Flaxscript42

"Their attitudes may taste like shit but make a mulch just fine!"

smileyrawmusic

Saw this on r/completeanarchy based as fuck

Paprikal

haha nice

rando4724

I'd happily hang this in my house, right by the front door (or wear it on a shirt!). Great job!

Paprikal

thanks, that's really nice!

rando4724

So is your work! And you're welcome.. 😊

RabbitsLickCarrots

I don’t have the words to explain how much I adore this project. Please take a virtual hug, this is absolutely fantastic! Rock on OP!

Paprikal

aww thank you so much! I'll take the virtual hug <3 I'm happy you liked it!

SereneSong

Composting them is such a better idea than eating them. Love it. Super cute 😊

Paprikal

Yep, and it fits better with the embroidery patterns I could find, which were all about plants and flowers haha

emilywhowrites

So cool!!

Paprikal

thanks!

lc-1033

Congratulations!! It looks very professional!

Paprikal

Thank you so much! I really took my time to make sure that it wouldn't get messy, happy it paid off

lc-1033

It did pay off! The lettering is perfection, everything really! ☺️

wispy_ghost

Haha that's a clever one

Paprikal

;)

Lilyadd

I love this!

Paprikal

thanks!

Faerbera

/r/composting would love this!
