Sometimes it takes a while to summon and they're probably just getting impatient

asa34

Impatience and a FS game is not a great combo I must say.

unused_user_name

Yea it is! It the intended design: things take ages and make people impatient. However, get impatient and you die,… as intended.

AgedPapyrus

On the other hand I have seen people take forever buffing and then they're the first to die.

asa34

Yeah sure that happens. But can you really expect everyone to play perfectly all the time? In the end they just want to help you and sometimes people die fast because of mistakes. I die often too because of dumb mistakes as a host and a summon. I would't hold dying against someone. If I am the host I must take into consideration that my summon might die early. When I die as a summon early I always feel bad because I left the host in a harder bossfight.

AgedPapyrus

Isn't that the point of your post though. You're mad people aren't playing perfectly and sever yourself instead of just playing.

asa34

I sever when I see the boss bar the moment I spawn. At least wait for me to even get to the fog wall. I understand now that a lot of people just don't care about getting buffed. That is okay. Just wait for me to even get close to the boss wall... I mean waiting a few seconds isn't too much to ask right?

joebrotcity

I just finished the game and I didn't know buffs were a thing until fighting elden beast. When I summoned people I would try and start the fight quickly because I didn't want to waste people's time that were helping me.

asa34

Good to know! I already suspected that people just don't know about it. i've been trying so hard to get peoples attention with gestures...

Baaladil

Simply douche and maidenless behavior.

Professional_Sky_573

Most likely people just don't know how buff works or even what buff is for some.

asa34

Yeah that's what I am guessing too by now.

Any_Kaleidoscope_591

I tried to be a bit more proactive, not only using earth trees protection, but also healing spells, that recover HP instantly, to keep them from dying. Some people just don't know how to git gud.

asa34

For me most of the time people run away from me if I try to use healing spells. I made a Support build a few days ago and I ended up spamming Siluria's Woe cuz healing was kinda useless. My character was named MMO Healer btw...

Any_Kaleidoscope_591

Yeah, I did that back in DS3 and I did it in Eden ring. It's not easy to help people, takes some practice to be like a gum under the shoe. Especially if invaders are involved.

griiiiiiiinzo

Cringe

Any_Kaleidoscope_591

Yes, I cringe at every double loading screen that happens, when a host dies, before I'm even there.

griiiiiiiinzo

Then don’t help?

Any_Kaleidoscope_591

Then don't comment.

griiiiiiiinzo

Lol you’re the one crying about people not “gittin gud” just because they don’t let you buff. Maybe don’t buff, or maybe stop helping and crying about it

Any_Kaleidoscope_591

I'm not crying, I'm adapting, that's why I continue to do that. I don't complain, it's simply that people don't survive with their base resistance, that's not getting gud, I don't mind the instant go teams, if they know what they are doing.

griiiiiiiinzo

It’s also literally just a video game, and you are making the CHOICE to help people

Any_Kaleidoscope_591

Why are you commenting in a game based channel? You could just not, it's your choice. I won't stop because I enjoy the struggle, you seem to enjoy commenting. This isn't going anywhere.

griiiiiiiinzo

Yeah you’re right, carry on man. Sorry for being a grump lol

buttcheeksontoast

I like using Lord's Divine Fortification when summoned for the Radagon/EB fight so I literally named my character "let me buff you". Most hosts do stop for a second and let me cast it

asa34

That's a good solution.

NewVeterinarian3857

just self buff and go either they don't care or don't know what the buff is for it doesnt really matter, try helping within your limits if they don't wait you, don't rush, take your time and do your buffs. don't take too long on purpose as well. if they die quickly, make sure to do the most powerful attack you know so they learn something and life goes on. also make sure you don't bother too much for this kind of situation, continue helping others i'm sure there are the ones who make coop pretty worthy

yeet-money

Their loss I guess

thedailycasual

I'm 400 hours in and I either don't know or don't care about group buffs

asa34

What so you play in terms of builds? Do you summon often or at all? I'd really like to know. I think getting buffs is just a benefit that helps everyone.

thedailycasual

Ive done a pure build of every stat and a few lvl 1 builds. I summon for every boss every playthrough except for 1 or 2 bosses. Usually I'm just ready to start after emoting with the cooperator once or twice and buffing myself. Mostly I don't think the group buffs are worth worrying about. I believe most of them are healing over time so getting a buff is fine but not required. Tbh most of the time I'm just trying to get started with as little down time as possible

asa34

Instead of replying to everyone here separately I have decided to make one last comment. When I made this post I honestly just wanted to find out why people might not wait to get a buff or two before a boss fight. This was regarding group buffs that also benefit the host. I wouldn't expect a host to wait for me if I had to buff only myself for 30 seconds. I never said anything about being mad at people not playing "my way" or making the host play "my game". These things are just far-fetched nonsense people have been trying to construct from my post. People putting words in my mouth that I never wrote down. People assuming that I am trying to make everything revolving around me and that I am in general just angry because of this somehow. I am not saying that I am not at fault. I did have a hand in things getting 'out of hand'. I could have expressed my thoughts a little more clearly which would have avoided unnecessary arguing. I was trying to genuinely ask people why they don't wait for their summons to buff them so I know why it happens to me all the time. And the answers I got were generally: * We don't want/need your buffs/don't care * Something along the line 'You're the guest in their world don't complain' Which in all honesty was not really helpful but where I can see where it is coming from. I did complain about Hosts starting bossfights when the summons are not even spawned in yet, I believe that that is just not a thing you should do regardless of your personal reasons for summoning someone.

-_Revan-

If your nothing without your buffs, then you shouldn’t have them. It’s unfair sometimes, but you gotta learn to fight without them.

asa34

Yikes. Gaslight somewhere else...

djuumei

Bro this isn't gaslighting he's right. I did this game without any buffs until elden beast. This whole game and the other entries in the series are all about trial and error. I see this post and see you being a true dick to other players because you want them to play your way. If that's not gatekeeping...

asa34

I never said anywhere that people should play my way. I never said anything about playing the way I do. I don't know why but people keep fabricating some boogus meaning of what I wrote. The post was simply a honest question why people don't wait for buffs before entering a bossfight. And yeah I complained about people not even waiting for summons to spawn before starting a bossfight.

djuumei

That's... Exactly what you're doing though? "Oh woe is me nobody will let me buff them" move on bud.

Anubra_Khan

Those people likely don't need your buffs. As a summon, you're a guest in the Host's world. If the Host wants to get on with their boss fight instead of waiting around for some buffs that might shave a couple a couple of seconds off the kill time, then just follow them into the room. Buff inside if you feel like it. Expecting a Host to play your game is a mistake.

asa34

Why wouldn't you want to get a 60% Holy Damage Negation against Elden Beast for example? This has nothing to do with 'shaving seconds off' the boss fight but to keep the Host alive. No one gets anything if the Host dies. The host summoned me to help them, I didn't summon myself into their world. So I think they should give me a few seconds to buff myself and maybe them depending on the buff before the bossfight so I can help them to the best of my abilities. Rushing into the bossfight instead of waiting for you helpers is just not it. Just. Let. Me .Help. You. That's what I was summoned for.

Anubra_Khan

I'm sure some people need the buffs and wait for you. The ones that don't...don't. For them, the best way for you to help is to get in there and dow work. I summon people all of the time that I don't need. If I see someone's sign, I'll hit it and get them a free arc. But I'm not going to wait outside the room for them to dick around unless I need to.

asa34

I can't really understand why you might not want buffs. But waiting in front of the boss until the summons are there is the least thing you could do. Just let them buff themselves then and go in. For me, it just really sucks as a summon to see a bossbar the moment I join. More often than not the host is dead before I even get to the fog wall. It really pressured me and kind of stressed me out trying to get to the boss door, use my buff and get in before the host is dead. In your case as you described it you don't need the help and want to get people a Rune Arc. I see why you'd do that but I cannot understand why you feel so 'rushed' to get into the boss arena. I mean the 30seconds you have to wait shouldn't be a big deal if you can beat the boss right?

Anubra_Khan

Everyone plays different. I'm not waiting 30 seconds to get buffed for a boss I can kill in 30 seconds without buffs.

asa34

I mainly got summoned to Remembrance Bosses. Never seen anyone that killed them in 30 with or without buffs. I don't understand why you wouldn't want buffs for hard bosses. And I probably won't any time soon to be fair. It seems that you and a lot of other people don't care for buffs. I can deal with that. Are you talking about like watchdogs and stuff? Sure that is totally understandable then. What I think is a dick move, is not even waiting for the summon to spawn and get to the fog door and already starting the bossfight. I mean people can at least do that.

Anubra_Khan

I guess some could take 45 seconds. Longer if we watch cut scenes. Maybe spend less time on buffing and more time on damage and you'll see start to see some faster boss kills. If I'm summoning someone, it's because they want to be summoned. To help them (you) out. Not because I need help. I'm sure I'm not the only one that plays like that. There are also people that do need help. I'm sure they'll be happy to wait and get their buffs. When I play support builds, I always follow the Host's lead. I suggest you do the same because it's their game you're being summoned into. Nobody turns the game on thinking, "boy I hope I can help asa34 from Reddit have fun today". Sometimes I Host is exploring an area, follow them instead of killing everything in front of them. Let them explore. Point to secrets of they missed one. Other times, they're making a b-line for the boss. Then you follow suit. You'll be a better co-oper if you play the Host's game instead of yours. If a Host sees you casting and doesn't stop, then stop casting and follow them into the boss room.

tobito604

Bro i would be happy if you buff me

Violets-and-Vertigo

I think it’s sort of a dick move to start a boss fight before everyone’s there- or just generally running off before the furled finger gets a chance to spawn in and having to chase them down sucks ass. The same reason hosts don’t wait to buff is the same reason they don’t bother with backstabbing unaware enemies, they either don’t know any better or they’re just that impatient. While I think there’s nothing morally wrong with it, I believe it’s impolite.

asa34

I totally agree with this. People summon you to help them and then they just run off. At least wait at the boss door.

Modfull_X

because dmg buffs run out too quick to be really useful unless ur solo and doing a one shot build

asa34

I disagree. Golden Vow is up for 80 seconds. That is not a short duration. Helps you kill the boss faster reducing the time the bossfight takes and on top of that helps you to not die because of the damage reduction. I agree that the buff from Commader's Standard is pretty short with 30 seconds. But no one forbids you from reapplying buffs during the 2nd phase transformation or a boss stagger. For defensive buffs take Lord's Divine Fortification for example if used for Radagon and Elden Beast. You can cast it before entering and before Elden Beast appears. A 60% Holy damage reduction is not negligible in that bossfight even if it does not stay up for the whole fight. The same counts for Golden Vows damage increase of course. Especially if you buff 3 people with it.

ENTJA

Yes, totally oblivious. 🙋🏻‍♂️

Eastern_Confusion_39

OP, I agree with you being a support/healer in almost any game is fun to me. I don't think of you as an Asshole. I can see both points if you wanna get it there, then get it there but don't die quick. I expect you to know what you're doing if you rush the boss. I don't mind running straight in with you but don't die seconds in because of greed or inpatientence. But if you summoned because you're having a hard time. Let me help you. It's not that hard. If you don't want them fine. If you want them. Be patient it doesn't take long.

gorm4c17

Their loss. My job is to help kill the boss, not keep YOU alive.

asa34

Well the Host staying alive is kinda necessary for killing the boss. So why not take a 60% Holy Damage reduction in the Elden beast fight?

gorm4c17

You want me to roll and block for them too? Geeze! Lol

asa34

git gud. That's what you'd say I assume?

gorm4c17

I'm just being silly man. I do my best to keep them alive too.

asa34

Yeah you can never know on reddit if someone is joking or not...

-_Revan-

If the host cant win without a 60% damage reduction AND summons to help, then they dont deserve to win. That sort of damage reduction makes that fight far too easy. Especially with multiple people.

kappaccio

We just don’t care about let alone need your buffs

asa34

Then don't summon people if you don't want their help.

kappaccio

It’s fun to smack bosses with other people, but when you insist on buffing us multiple times before starting? It’s not that deep. Like others have said, some people just don’t care and would rather just start the fight

asa34

If you want help but can't respect the decision of the people you summon to buff themselves (and you of course with some things) there is something wrong. If you don't want buffs just enter the boss arena it's fine for me. But if you end up dying by something where my spell could have saved you from why not wait for 5 seconds and get the buff if I use it anyway.

Simpl3_j4ck

You're definitely the asshole here.... youre being a diva about helping someone else in their game, the way they want to play. I bet you ask questions like "whats the lore behind why the castle is built out of stone"

asa34

Well if someone wants to play their way and I should respect it, they should respect the way I want to play too. Summons are not your personal slaves that are supposed to do everything the way you want it. If you summon someone to help let them buff themselves how they want in preparation . Respect goes both ways.

Simpl3_j4ck

No, youre definitely being a princess. You went out of your way to make a post about how your feelings get hurt that other players dont wait for you. And that you then carry on extra princess like behavior about leaving the game if they dont do what you want. And then asked if youre being the asshole, and complain about the answer you got. True maidenless behavior.

asa34

Damn. That is one butthurt answer. First of all this is a discussion. You might want to look up the definition of that. I did not complain at all. I just replied with my opinion which you apparently are not happy with. But instead of making a counterargument or writing anything constructive, the only thing you are capable of is trying to deflect from my point. I in fact also missed the part where my feelings got hurt. Can you give cite me on that? I can understand why severing might be an overreaction on my part but if you cant wait for me to start the boss don't summon me please. It is just impolite, disrespectful or whatever else fits. (My opinion, you don't have to agree on this) Your reply is in all honesty just sad.

AsRoma1990

Reading this post and your reply’s to everyone truely gave me heart burn… are you 14? YOU choose to help them, and then ran to Reddit to complain when they dont do what you want? People do what they want in their own game, if they want your buffs they’ll wait, if they didn’t wait then go help them fight. Simple. Talking about other people needing to “git gud” when your build relys on 3 minutes worth of buffs and consumables is laughable 😂

asa34

I don't get your point at all.Yes I chose to help them. And they chose to summon me. So why not wait for the summon to even arrive at the boss door? Is that really going to hurt that much? Just go in when they are close and have even spawned. Sure there are players that don't need or want buffs, okay I got that. But can't people at least wait? And you surely did not understand my reply that included git gut. You might want to read it again with context.

AsRoma1990

I understood clearly. You’re entering their game and you expect to be treated like it revolves around you. And then ran to Reddit to seek validation. Maybe read the room a bit better friend, there seems to be a common theme in many of the responses you’ve gotten.

asa34

Exactly it does not revolve around me. It revolves around the host beating the boss. That's the goal in the end. But is it really too much to ask from the host to wait at the boss door? I never looked for any validation, the only thing I wanted to know is why people don't wait for getting buffs. As I have seen a lot of people simply don't care. I can deal with that. What I straight up dislike is people just getting into the boss room being too impatient to wait for you to even get to the boss door. You didn't understand. I never told anyone to git gud. I asked someone if that is what they would say.

AsRoma1990

No your original complaint was people not letting you buff them or waiting for you to do your 98789th buff before finally heading in to fight. Play how you play they’ll play joe they play and that’s it. If you don’t like it you can always just stay in your own world and play how you want to. Enjoy your weekend.

asa34

I simply wanted to know why people didn't let me buff them. I complained about people entering the Bossfight before I even spawn. I wish you a great weekend too.

djuumei

The biggest thing I'm seeing is that this isn't a discussion, it's fishing for an echo chamber. You can have your opinion, and even voice it. But don't expect others to cater to your opinion just because you have it. Actually hitting the topic, I don't care about your buffs. If I summon you, I'll let you do your thing. However, don't tell me how to play my game. You didn't buy it for me, you didn't buy the system I'm playing it on, you didn't pay my electric bill...

asa34

Okay, you want to play your game how you want it, alright. You don't want my buffs, okay. It seems a lot of people simply just don't care about that I got that by now. Knowing that I don't mind people not waiting for my buffs anymore. What I don't understand is that people say MY game. Once you summon someone it is not only MY game anymore. Play solo then. Don't go into the boss room before they even spawned. Waiting at the boss door is the least someone can do.

djuumei

Oh, so now your problem is online etiquette? First, what does "Host" mean in the context of the game? It means that /I/ am summoning /you/ into /my/ game. Not to mention progression doesn't happen for the person summoned. Cry more. Please.

djuumei

I'm going to go even further and tell you if I've summoned you after countless deaths to the same boss, I'm just trying to get it the fuck over with. Waiting for you at the spawn door is neither my priority nor prerogative. I just wanna kill the fuckers.

LordofSeaSlugs

Best bet is to run to the door and start casting. If you hold down the cast button on a buff your character holds it until you let go.

Miserable-Glass1760

Well, they may kniw there are buffs in this game, they're just not allowing you to buff them because they don't want to buff, I guess.

Ok-Ambition-2231

Sometimes I wait too long to see if they gonna use anything
