What do I do with these 2 empty walls? The emptiness of the wall next to bed haunts me
By - GrabApprehensive
If the bed needs to be right up against the wall, I would be concerned about knocking pictures off the wall accidentally. Can you pull the bed away a bit? If not, maybe a mural? Here are some luxe murals I saw in a blog post the other day: https://centsationalstyle.com/2021/09/landscape-murals-inspiration-sources/
Edit: here’s one on Etsy that might suit your aesthetic: https://etsy.me/2GjFR4g
I have my bed up against the wall with lots of paintings hanging above it (6 in total I think) and have not had any issues. YMMV of course.
These look great, thank you for the inspiration;) As I can’t move the bed in any direction, I think murals are my best option. And there are so many to choose from ;)
Yes! There are tons of options!
Love your Ron Swanson 😂
Haha thank you
I would get some blue painters tape and some paint like on the adjoining wall. Tape up a geometric design and let the paint flow. I see stripes, but I'm pretty boring.
Thank you so much for your idea. Sadly, I won’t be able to change the walls’ colors, that’s why I thought of hanging a picture or something there. But maybe I’ll find some stripe patterns online, print them and hang them above the armchair ;)
Have an awesome day and thanks once again!
Hey I copied your current for you here so that you can play around with decorating it with new things.
Here's my attempt at it haha: https://app.dabble.so/share/vWoR669h2u2eYRSTknss
Honestly a small picture wall would really personalize that corner, a a pop of color with yellow compliments the blue accent and makes it super cozy.
Thank you so much. Wish I had your abilities, your project looks so professional;)
I would put one larger piece of art behind the chair! Something with a pop or two of contrasting colour (maybe a little yellow?). Behind the bed I agree is tricky- the mural idea sounds nice or even some pictures if you securely hung them (look into the interlocking picture hanger hardware).
Didn’t know such hardware existed - will definitely check it out;)
Random question- I’ve been looking for a chair like this! Can I ask where this is from?
This is STRANDMON from Ikea- I love how comfortable it is. You can also get the ottoman to go with it, as I did ;) Can’t recommend it enough ;)
Thank you! I knew it looked comfy!
In terms of design, suggest you push that chair to the corner (shift the book shelf), facing the center of the room, and slide the table over as well. With a table lamp or a floor lamp that overhangs and shines onto the accent chair, that would be a comfy reading area
I think behind the chair, 3 square pictures/framed wall art would look great!
Since you’re all so helpful, could I ask which colors would go well with [my bedding](https://ibb.co/Fnv4ZLq)? Then it would be easier for me to choose a mural/pictures ;)
Behind the chair I'd put a tree, a frame, and an up light.
You should put an outline of painters tape on the wall and paint a landscape or something aesthetic to tie in the colors of the room on the wall
My daughters room has that same big blank wall next to her bed and I hate it. I was thinking about ordering some kind of decal to put up there
I used to have a decal before repainting the room last month. I had it for several years and loved how it looked. I’ll attach a photo if I manage to find it. The only downside was that when you wanted to remove it, some paint came off as well. However, if you plan to have it a few years, it’s not really an issue ;)
[this is the decal I had ](https://ibb.co/RYYgjvW)
Yes that is my apprehension as my daughter is only 4 and I’m sure she will not be into the same things in a year or two
Do you know what color the teal wall is?
[This](https://beckers.pl/kolor/break-free) is the color. I just checked that this company is only available in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe (I'm from Poland. But I think you could find similar colors with any brand.
I have this color on one wall, where TV is hung, and the other three are painted [this color](https://beckers.pl/kolor/innocence) ;)
Just a wall lamp behind the car. I’d move the bed to that wall add a picture. Depending on the room. Maybe a small bedside table. Lamp?
I would add some kind of removable wallpaper mural on the wall. I would do some kind of flowers or nature scene, but even something as simple as grass cloth would look nice. I think the area over the chair really wants some kind of cross-stitch art. You could probably find something nice on Etsy. I think it would be cute to incorporate some kind of fabric art into a small gallery, or just get a big piece.
