v_a_n_d_e_l_a_y

It was on that special teams tackle right? That's why starters usually don't play ST

DanOfBradford78

I think he was in after that. And he did it on a TFL play. Could have been the ST play because he absolutely steamed into him.

oregondete81

Def ST play. While watching live you could tell his arm was hanging awkwardly as he went to the sideline.

youseemconfusedbubb

Yeah he clotheslined the return. A great hit but looked painful as fuck.

MileHighMania

100% correct!

Tatturtle

Such a bittersweet game if it's his final as a Bronco. He made some great plays. He'll be a UFA after this season so I hope we re-sign him

strizzle_work

I hope we extend him on a reasonable deal later on this season.

sad_welshman

We definitely can’t afford this unless he takes a team friendly deal. We have AJ to extend at the position too and a ton of new talent to step up.

Southall1960

between Jewell and AJ, Jewell is actually better. He surprisingly is waay better in coverage then AJ. That is the selling point.

sad_welshman

Jewell is now out for the season and has a small sample size on his improved play. I prefer him to AJ too, but I don’t see him on the team next year.

Giddyfuzzball

You say that like he’s going to require a lot of money. He won’t. Less than $4 million per year.

sad_welshman

Roster building is done through the draft. If we can pay Strnd / Browning less for replacement value production, we will. And Jewell could get a lot more if he isn’t willing to discount for a hometown deal.

HoovesCarveCraters

What makes you think he'll be too expensive? He hasn't really shown anything. Last year he was ok and he looked bright to start this season but that's it and a small sample size. Shouldn't be an issue to re-sign him.

sad_welshman

Well see but we’ve invested a ton of draft capital in cheap replacements for him and have a significant number of other pricy extensions to get done

juelzomo

Big loss, Jewell was playing lights out so far this season. Strnad and Browning have to step up in a big way

goddamnitwhalen

Feel like Browning is probably gonna end up being the bigger player over Strnad based on what I’ve seen / read.

whatsthisguysdeal7

Strnad looked really good yesterday when he took over. He was all over the field

Kmactothemac

I'm really high on Browning long term but I don't think anyone was expecting him to play a significant role this early. Strnad looked good yesterday

Raktoner

The offseason: We are getting good depth at defensive back to prepare for injury The linebackers: about that

necrolic_8848

Mega lame, he was having a breakout season

jl_weber

He is a good player, playing well, but he's not so good that it should tank a good team. Maybe some growing pains, but I think if the Broncos are going to be competitive, they have to overcome injuries like this.

oregondete81

Why TF is our starting ILB where we have almost no depth playing on special teams in the first place. I get injuries can happen at any time, but come on, ridiculous.

46n2ahead

Cuz our special teams coach is a freaking idiot

ThePain2020

Fangio should have overruled that decision. Not Defending McMahon... but come on coach.... everyone knows McMahon sucks. How you gonna let him massacre our boy Josey?

Halpmeplzplzplz

Because our ST coverage team/group sucks so bad we have to send in proven starters in.

The_Dragon_Rebooted

Jfc

Jingo56

This sucks, but on the bright side we have browning and Strnd.

0neArmSteve

Why was our most important ILB playing special teams? How soon can we fire Tom McMahon into the fucking sun?

ThePain2020

Do you want to break the sun too???

pappie317

That's a damn shame the kid is a ball hawk. you watch any film and he's always around the ball. I was going to buy his jersey but I think I'll wait and see if he makes it back. I just can't understand why he is playing ST's. you could definitely see the fall-off in the middle when he went out.

GHamPlayz

Fuck

famous__shoes

That sucks. This was looking like Jewell's best game of his career before he left. I remember hearing an undrafted guy, Curtis Robinson was doing well in camp. I'm guessing he gets called up to replace Jewell.

DLBork

Pain

WumboWings

I don't think it'll necessarily be a huge drop off since Strnad has the speed to make up for inexperience, but Jewell's ability to just be where the ball is on running plays will be missed.

separeaude

Fuck man.

MillerTime5858

Fucking christ man

ianhockey23

That’s a big loss imo. Every dogs the shit out of Josey, but every time you see him play he’s making tackles. Really sucks for the guy

NEHHNAHH

So was Todd Davis- 8 yds down field after his defender made the catch. He's a player in the run hand but I'm excited to see some more speed at ILB to help keep up with teams with weapons come playoffs (PLAYOFFS?¿)

FunkySquaredance1901

IT'S ALRIGHT GUYS - I CHECKED RECOVERY TIMELINE FOR TORN PECS. IT'S 3-4 MONTHS. HE'LL BE BACK FOR THE PLAYOFFS!!!

ianhockey23

Idk if you’re being cheeky lol, but there’s no way he’s coming back this year. A torn pec is one of the worst injuries you can get for a person that tackles other grown ass humans. It’s super easy to re-tear

FunkySquaredance1901

Naw, just hoping for the best. Googled 'torn pectoral muscle NFL recovery timeline' and saw 3-4 months (but previous search without 'NFL' said no bench pressing for 9 months) So yeah...just being really hopeful

ianhockey23

Oh I feel ya man. I’m really bummed for the guy, one of my favorite Broncos. But this is one of those injuries where if you don’t treat it right it could be a career ender. Hope he gets back as soon as possible

bradybender56

Yep sounds like our luck

Brite_4cats

Really shitty man. I hope he recovers well and we resign him next year cause he was one of the best players the last two games. Let’s hope Strnd and Browning can step up.

aglv702

They should give Todd Davis a call and see if you would come out of retirement. Would give the team better depth.

chingy1337

That sucks. When he made that tackle on special teams you heard a loud snap. You have to wonder if that was his pec. Yikes and ouch.

NotAppendges

Fangio needs to tell these guys to stop getting hurt.

Top-Elderberry

I hope it isn’t season ending, but if it is then Strnad is going to have to step up in a big way.

captainduck2

I knew it too. After that special teams play I literally was like “how is he not hurt?” Answer is, probably pure adrenaline.

Geog28

This is why depth is so important. Can't rely on anyone outside of maybe a quarterback to stay healthy. And even then I wouldn't rely on my QC to be healthy. Injuries are so common that if you don't have depth, it should be expected.

TrueBigfoot

That sucks I enjoyed his style of play. I hope this injury doesn't affect him too much in the future

DistributionFlaky683

Man it's great that we have drafted so many ILBs over the past few years! /s

Matt_The_Impaler_

This sucks. Jewell made the defensive calls getting everyone line up in the right position. He’s a leader on this team. On the bright side we get a big speed boost with strnad in the line up. Hopefully they don’t miss a beat. Front 7 has dominated the run game so far.

TheClayroo

Was downvoted here a couple weeks ago for suggesting we needed more ILB depth. Guess we'll find out if we have enough over the next few weeks. I wanted to get Onwuasor and then the Raiders go and snag him last week ffs

micah4steiner

Go get Benardrick McKinney best stats for a MLB free agent! Depth for cheap
