This frozen pathway looks like it's straight out of a video game
By - Palifaith
I thought it was an extreme close up of something from a microscope.
Immediately thought it was a scanning electron microscope!
I expected a tardigrade to come waltzing around the corner at any time.
Grade walks warily down the street
With the brim pulled way down low
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet
Machine guns ready to go
Are you ready hey are you ready for this?
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat?
Out of the doorway the bullets rip,
To the sound of the beat yeah!
I recently bought a VR headset and now every time I hear an idea I imagine being able to do it in VR. Being able to shrink down and explore an environment at that kind of scale would be wild.
I’d probably get in trouble for putting weird shit in there.
What is your top 5 list of the best samples you explored?
Happy little accidents are the best accidents.
Me too. Thought someone did something artistic at the micro or nano scale lol.
This guy takes great care of his body, he even built perfectly constructed walkways and stairs for his cells to get around easier.
Cells at work!
The greyness and the visual quality of an electron microscope
I played through this zone in Elder Scrolls...have to get to the campfires and light them to get rid of the stacking debuff.
Yeah I haven’t even played elder scrolls but it’s the game I instantly thought of when I saw this
What if when we zoomed in really close to ice, this is what we always saw.
Immediately what I thought too
This place has High Hrothgar vibes.
That frost troll scared the shit out of me the first time.
[There was only one way to handle it...](https://giphy.com/gifs/run-away-fast-3o7ZeTlKIJS83gyhd6)
First time I played, I saw this frost troll coming and said, "there's no way the game would send an unbeatable monster at me this early, I bet I can take that guy!"
*Narrator: He did not, in fact, "take that guy."*
That was exactly my thought 10 years ago. Ha! I killed a dragon! This is easy! Come here human sized monster! God damn that first play through was forever ago.
Wouldnt another elder scrolls game to first-playthrough be nice? =/
I did this very thing. Some poor NPC on the way slowed him down for me
I was doing a mage build and had to use up my potions of invisibility to sneak by after dying to it about 5 times. Second play through was as a stealth archer and I 2 shot it.
Stealth archer plus fire mage is the playyyyyy for frost anything. And spiders. Fire is just a good way to go.
I hate that frost troll
I love how dying to that frost troll is just a shared experience all Skyrim players have.
Am I the only one who just climbs the side of the mountain rather than deal with all the stupid winding paths?
This is the way.
Haha, now that I'm a more seasoned Skyrim player, I definitely do that. But I just started playing literally a few months ago, so I definitely stuck to the paths at first.
It's really surprising how soon you run across that frost troll.
That makes sense. I learned in previous Elderscrolls games that the most direct path is jumping up the cliff side. I actually didn't encounter the troll until I left the temple on my first play through. =)
I just bought a horse and walked straight up the side of the mountain.
Horses are the ultimate off road vehicles in Skyrim.
I used to play WOW, so I'm fairly versed in jumping up through mountain ranges lol
Like straight murdering a chicken and pissing off a whole town the first hour of gameplay
It killed lydia. I didn't think she could die. My house has felt so empty.
Only the first time. Then, when you know he’s coming and you’ve been grinding sufficiently, you make that little fucker your bitch.
Or you could just jog away from it.
Not an option. Must kill everything.
It’s the Dovahkin way.
Is this real? Where is it located?
On the Throat of the World in Skyrim.
I came here to say this im glad someone else did
IMO looks like hoarfrost on some of the karst topography in china.
Totally. I even felt some College of Winterhold energy.
Those damn ice wraiths that come out of nowhere, I swear I heard one when I looked at this picture.
^respect ^the ^h
This place makes me feel so uncomfortable.
exactly what i was gonna say
Looks like a miniature model. Would explain why it doesn’t look quite right and the camera movements are so erratic, and why they never answer any of the “where is this?” questions.
I thought it was a /r/Miniworlds post
I'm not certain, but it looks like [Tianmen mountain](https://imgur.com/gallery/MPpfMVC) in a snow cloud. It's a surreal place.
Did nothing happen here as well?
Yup, nothing happened there in 1989.
It's a map in a game made by someone who has never actually seen snow
I thought the same thing. The movement doesn't look real unless a 45ft giant was filming on a 17ft camera
The background is nothing, not clouds or sky. It’s altered some way for sure
Have you never seen fog?
Edit: seriously, do you think this is what fog looks like? OPs video is post processed beyond recognition
The scale of the POV to the objects sizes don't make sense either. It's definitely a miniature setting.
Honestly I have no idea where you guys are getting this idea. It’s not a miniature model.
The camera movements are erratic because it’s a self stabilizing video camera being held by someone walking on ice. The jerkiness comes from moving the camera past the angle that keeps it “stable” so then it over corrects with that weird movement to catch up
What an odd theory.
Think the video playback is also sped up by a bit but there’s no frame of reference to tell by how much
Looks like a miniature model
#Happy cake day!
This that shit from Frozen
I don’t know if this helps but I found a staircase that takes us exactly where we need to go.
its been 3 years and i still remember this line
Lmao, I saw the title and I'm like, videogame? Maybe kingdom hearts Frozen level. More like the movie Frozen!
If I climb this I had better learn another shout.
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from freezality.
Open your eyes,
Look up to the skys and see
I’m just a poor boy...
I must put a stop to this
I need no sympathy..
Because I’m easy come, easy go
I hope it’s a new Myst game...
Hills Have Ice
Quiet af hill
I was thinking the “fast travel” world from God of War
reminds me of the painting from dark souls. ariamus or something…?
I personnaly get High metro Exodus vibes but you're definitly right. Ariandel was a hell of a DLC
Skyrim, the way up to high Hrothgar!
Looks like Resident Evil 8.
Totally made me think of the walk up to House Beneviento
Honestly, it reminds me more of RE7 with all the mold laying around.
There's a frost troll waiting for you around the corner, take care.
Where is this located
a small model, not a real place IMO
Looks kinda like the path up to multnomah falls in the winter. But that's mostly just the mist & excessive frost everywhere.
I used to love that hike up to the top, sadly after 21 surgeries I can no longer gain vertical feet under my own power. I wonder if there is some kind of motorized accessibility vehicle that could get me to the top.
It definitely has mini vibes to me too, but the camera work feels too real (if that makes sense? Like it should be shaking in a different way if it's actually a mini)
I can't work out if it's just /r/confusingperspective or not haha
There's the thing-distance has blur here. It's tlwhat makes me think it's a mini scene. this happens when you film close ups of small objects or faces, it does not happen when you film landscapes. Yes camera swivels, giving you oposite impression of large place, that is true. However all the objects look suspicious as well, the way snow covers the place, lack of any detail or colour at others. Mostly though it's that weird distance blur and fog.
The "snow" is that fake spray-on model snow you can get at hobby stores.
looks like insulation foam
In the painted world of Ariamis
Doesn't look real. If it is that's awesome
Yeah the render distance is kinda low
final stage in Metro Exodus
Could you get these supplies to the chest at the top?
U about to meet the ice dragon
The inquisitor's path to the rift
That’s what I thought of too
Hello fellow nerd
Those damn frost trolls kill me every time.
Am I gonna meet the graybeards at the top
There's definitely some skeleton guards or draugr at the top of those stairs. Looks like the middle of a run so I doubt it's a boss fight yet.
Reminds me of Mt Pilatus in Switzerland.
Went to Lucerne for a summer abroad. Gosh darn beautiful (,:
It really is something else. The whole region is amazing. Northern Italy up to Bavaria.
Unfortunately only had the chance to explore Lucerne and Zurich. But I believe u 100%, the whole place is pristine and feels magical. Cheers
Wife and I had two days there on a whirlwind tour through a bunch of European cities a few years ago. Whenever someone asks what was our favorite, I hem and haw and say we loved it all.
But, then we end up talking about Lucerne the most, because it was enchanting.
This is not real 😂
Looks like something out of The Long Dark. Watch out for bears.
Good luck getting on those stairs
God Of War fats travel system vibes.
Silent Hill or Until Dawn vibes
Damn. Skyrim really does still hold up after 10 years.
Getting Borderlands monastery vibes
That doesn’t look safe to walk on.
I’m pretty sure Elsa was singing here
I thought that was bacteria under a telescope
About to learn a shout
Straight outta skyrim
I think I’ve seen this setting in a God Of War game
Terrible graphics.. Canada is so last gen
Thats skyrim bruh
Look out for that damn troll.
Just wait a bit for the textures to load up.
That's definitely the 8-thousands step from Skyrim.
looks like you were going to the grey beards to learn the shouts
What's the mountain you have to climb in Skyrim? I got the vibes of that, anyway.
This looks exactly like the mountain pass where the speakers are in Skyrim. I wonder if they used this as inspiration for it.
Forbidden Castle Cainhurst
Until Dawn in FPS
It looks awfully similar to the Call of the dead starting room in black ops.
A microcosm found with an electron-microscope...
Reminds me of watching my older brother play Silent hill lost memories on our Wii 😳
Looks straight out of an electron microscope shot of a parasite world
I bet that still looks strange if it wasn't frozen.
The camera angle, blurry background, and oddly low fences give this a miniature look.
At the end of the path you will find Elsa's castle
I'm getting Edward Scissorhands!
#Winter is coming!
I thought this was some electron microscope thing at first until I saw the fence lol
Magical as shit
This some Resident Evil shit right here.
Where is it?
Where is this? I need to see it IRL.
This looks it's like some vision dream sequence in a game
Frost troll about to jump his ass
looks like shattered memories
... if you never left your space and relied on video games for your perception of the world.
Its SpaceX HQ.....is looks so fake it real
With all the frost it gives me serious Metro vibes.
Gonna be a HUGE fucking snake come flying by any second. And then it's going to kill you. Probably
Its actually a behind the scenes for the frozen movie.
I always die on this level of Mario cart.
It's like [The Unfinished Swan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Unfinished_Swan) game.
Reminds me a bit of Innocence: A Plague Tale
It looks like the start of Mario Odyssey.
I used to imagine that's how color blind people saw everything
Feel like I’m boutta fight a boss
Ibeonen jeongmal kokkok naega meonjeo talk talk Dajim ppuningeol maebeon dajim ppuningeol
I'm like TT......
Silent Hill Shattered Memories feels
I'll take your word for it.
What do you mean, your in Skyrim
Frost + all those steps = stairs of death
This motherf*cker lives in Narnia.
this feels like scanner sombre but if everything looked like it was under a microscope
The wild hunt came through here
The Lich King awaits
Sub zero entered the chat
Like a render with just ambient occlusion.
