Well now it's 11am and I've lost 25 minutes writing this and collecting examples. But now I get to listen to my examples, so I feel I broke even. It's trance with a drum & bass beat. (I'm not a musician btw, I don't know the exact terminology for a lot of the details of musical styles, but I'll go with references and analogies) But even among trance songs, the song is fucking unique. It's also NOT Goa Trance but the song has an organic quality to it reminiscent of Goa. I'm going to go with Psytrance. Psytrance is usually styled to sound like the song itself is taking the listener on a journey, which Inner Universe does several times with the style switches as the song progresses. The cyberpunk quality of GOTS leads me to directly to [MONA LISA fuckin' OVERDRIVE by Juno Reactor, which is itself a William Gibson cyberpunk reference.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB9Mi_hf7og) Juno Reactor is one of those groups that has never gotten the hype it's deserved, but they've been influencing movie makers, musicians, and game designers since the early 90s. I remember finding out that their name was thrown into Final Fantasy VII back in 1997 just out of love. More psytrance by Juno Reactor: [Juno Reactor - Let's Turn On](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rzrsD5bL6s) [Juno Reactor - Navras](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alcE94QJW90) [Juno Reactor - God Is God](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1XD5sc5NI0) Infected Mushroom has been around long enough as well to have influenced the song as well. Infected Mushroom also deserves awards for putting on GREAT FUCKING SHOWS. The songs are produced entirely electronic, but the group leaders put on full rock shows by elements of the songs performed by musicians on stage. [Infected Mushroom - Monster](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R2v_hVMCdY) [Infected Mushroom - Saeed](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cxov0BQ2fpE) [Infected Mushroom - Becoming Insane](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxhTbxMSvT0) There are many many other wonderful examples of Psytrance, but these are the two that I listen to most frequently, and I also think you'll be able to spot the similarities to Inner Universe by listening to them.

Man I've obsessed over this track for years and I know, just like you do, how fucking unique it is. Try as one might, there's nothing that quite matches its qualities. But dam have you done well to provide tracks in the same vain and tone. I feel similarly to you in your description of Juno Reactor (been listening to them since I was in my teens) and definitely appreciate IM in the same way. Good on ya! If I may add one recommendation that I think anyone who appreciates those aforementioned artists would enjoy: check out Virtual Self. It was a short term project (i guess) that Porter Robinson did putting out classic sorta sounding trance music but with a modern feel. Really the best I've heard in this same "sound". Enjoy!!

General EDM.

1. I love your fucking username so much. 2. "General EDM" sounds like what you'd say The Chainsmokers used to make, which makes me gag a little.

I can’t exactly put my finger on it, I dunno if it’s some Drum n Bass, Breakbeat, Trance or Techno song
