There used to be a cricket documentary on NetFlix made after India's 2011 WC win. It shows Shaw and his dad, sitting in their room and talking about his cricketing aspirations. Can't believe Shaw has aged so rapidly in just 10 years! The film also shows the guy who paints himself in India colour and has Gandhi get-up - I think his name is Sudhir or something. He biked from his village in Bihar to Mumbai to watch the WC final.
I watched this video on YouTube about him many years back and it still feels incredible that he has fulfilled his promise so far: https://youtu.be/YhhYFlWMx7M
Afaik prithvi Shaw was famous even when he played school cricket as he was the best player in the best school team. Especially after that 500+ in Harris shield(in 2012 ig). He and Arman Jaffer used to absolutely spank everyone while playing for Rizvi.
Their whole team was like that. Even jaffer has a 450+ in Harris.
I remember once they had a corner pitch at Azad maidan and while they were batting almost every over some Batsman used to smash the ball into the neighbouring building. Some rizwi players were told to stand in that building to return balls XD. It was so funny watching the ball get lost every alternate over as if it was gully cricket.
Yup, that Rizvi team was stacked with Shaw, Sarfaraz and Arman Jaffer.
I read an interview with their school team coach some time ago.
According to him, Jaffer was the textbook batsman, Sarfaraz the most inventive and Shaw was the prodigy who could pick up any shot instantly.
Haha.
To be honest, I used to travel within city for internship/college and had time to read lot of local newspapers (TOI, Mid-day, DNA etc.) on train/buses.
They would cover lot of Mumbai cricket and have interviews, features and match scores.
Mid-day
Lots of articles following local Mumbai tourneys

Harris shield, MCA tournaments and Kanga League
Atleast when I was actively reading newspapers, you'd see such news on sports pages(side columns mostly) everyday. I've seen many big names rise from such side columns over the years.
Being from Indore, I've seen Awesh Khan in the newspapers for years. 7-8 years back, him and one of my classmate were sent to Dubai to play some league. Awesh used to take a lot of wickets in those district tournaments (circa 2014-15). I had to double check when I got the news that he's selected for IPL.
He has played for India A. I wonder how cool it would be if sarfaraz, prithvi and Arman end up playing together for India. How rare would that be, the same 3 players who have played for school state and national together.
Prithvi has been well known since his childhood coz he was a prodigy. This is from 2011 ofc, but I have been seeing his name do the rounds since 2013 I think. He was breaking age group records from a very young age.
Mumbai is like that. So many of these young batsmen get discovered early and then senior batsmen from Mumbai tend to take them under their wings
Happened with Sachin too when Gavaskar mentored him at an early age
Let’s give him all the credit he deserves, though. IIRC he is from a lower middle class family in Thane, commuted down every day to play cricket, and only got to sit next to Arjun Tendulkar because of his talent.
It's a tradition in Mumbai school cricket . Sachin , Kambli did it . Then Sarfraz and then Shaw . All child prodigies . Got the attention at a very young age.
Random, but this post prompted me to look up his [Cricinfo profile](https://www.espncricinfo.com/player/arjun-tendulkar-1148776) and I saw that he's currently 22y 222d old.
I know what you were going for there but you don't understand the feeling of a Mumbaikar who follows the domestic team seeing your captain play for the opposite team 😅 although I do cheer for him when he isn't playing us
Yeah, atleast, it's better than someone who doesn't believe in passing his craft to next generation. Sachin was the world's best player in the last few decades but maybe he is not the one who could guide others (you see Mahela being the main coach of MI and wasn't even a fraction of Ponting in terms of captaincy)
Sachin was world's best player that doesn't mean he would be best coach... And he probably won't coach any other team than India(& maybe Mumbai Indians) and we already have dravid and Mi(Jayawardene)
Man spent his 20 years working( with tons of criticism, praises, controversies etc) let him live in peace and enjoy his retirement.
Yeah that is my point. Every body have their own craft. Coach might not be Sachin's cup of tea. Just heard from DC players who mentioned Ponting is a great coach. I was just so impressed and inspired by his speeches that he gives in the huddle to the DC team (posted on DC's instagram).
I can imagine Shaw supporting Mumbai Indians as a kid but now he has to play against them. Same goes with youngsters like Jaiswal, Gill etc. How would it feel to support a particular team as a kid only to get picked by a different team in the auction and having to play against the team you rooted for as a kid.
Mans capping mumbai indians at a India game
WC finals too
Might just get selected for next match.
Biggest fan?
Lara, sehwag, Sachin and Arjun in 1 picture.
73,968 international runs in one pic
74,496 to be exact
Pritivi is a friend of arjun Tendulkar. Wow seems like Shaw had great connection from young age .
Yep, he was earmarked for success from a very young age and got noticed by Sachin at CCI. Guy also has an interview with Hussain from that time.

Exactly. People forget he once had the world record for the highest score in a school tournament match.

How do you guys know all this? It's really interesting getting to know about these things. Like a character's origin story lol.

We read the back page of the newspapers first in those days

There's a beautiful pic of the three together .
What happened to arman?
Arman is in the Mumbai Ranji Team, iirc he scored a century in Mumbai's last match against Odisha before Ranji was paused for IPL

Richie Benaud would be proud
I noticed the other day that Google has him as 32 for some reasond
The loyalty for MI deserves him a game this season.
Arjun with his dad, Sehwag and Lara.
I don't get it

Ravi shashtri once saif he has a bit of all 3.
Justin Bieber and Vijay Setupati.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa is Vijay Sethupathi's clone
Lmao
Shaw looks a lot like Dibyendu Bhattacharya or as if he is his son.
Why is he wearing Mumbai Indians jersey at a WC match? edit: I meant the cap
Because the Indians were playing at Mumbai. Duh.
Thanks for the clarification arjun
>Why is he wearing Mumbai Indians jersey at a WC match? He is wearing India's Jersey though 🤔. Did u mean Mumbai Indians **Cap** ?
Because it's Mumbai 'INDIANS'.
Because he wants to
Because that's what he was asked (forced) to wear by his father's PR team

Looks like Shiv Sundar Das
I really wanna see where was Shubman Gill at that point
At his home watching the match
Or yashasvi jaiswal.
Fazilka
Papa made him sit with class topper.
Friendly reminder Shaw is only 22 . He will come through for India , no doubt . Him and Gill
My man supporting MI in India vs Sri lanka
lololol
Prithvi was destined to be at Mumbai Indians.. Really wish it had been him in the place of ishan kishan
Yea why don't you just take everything?
I mean he was dominating maidans of Mumbai, hailed as the next big thing from the city. It's MI's fault not going for him in the auctions
nah trent boult was nough
Iyer, sarfaraz khan and yashasvi jaiswal too
I agree. I would like see more local talent picked in the team.
How abt risabh and warner?? Make the top 7 Warner shaw rohit sky tilak pant pollard
Rishabh has no connect to Mumbai. Shaw is Mumbai's captain.
Whoosh...
I know what you were going for there but you don't understand the feeling of a Mumbaikar who follows the domestic team seeing your captain play for the opposite team 😅 although I do cheer for him when he isn't playing us
Make good use of Brevis. Ponting will mentor Prithvi Shaw better than Sachin.
Lol we seeing that

A young Kendrick Lamar
Prithvi aged 20 years in 10

The fact that Prithvi clearly didn't do age fudging and still looks like 40 at 22 is even sadder
Wtf Shaw is only 22? All this time I thought he was 30. He looks much older
It’s the ‘stache..
And hair loss
Junir tendulkar and junior vinod kambli
Back when prithvi could actually bat
Arjun Tendulkar having great time with his father, shehwag and Lara
