Kei is not the fmc , she is the side character that only appears few pages in 1 vol. The cote FMC is horikita and kushida, one is rank 38 ( huge success ) and other one is not ranked
This poster is the reason why I don't believe Slime is popular in Japan..
I have never seen any tiny bit of relevancy of Slime in Japan. The only time it ever had relevance was through Akihabara small cafe during the anime airing.
Looks like having high sales means absolutely nothing in the face of Popularity.
COTE seems to be way more popular and relevant than Slime. I have noticed the constant talk in jp podcasts, multiple posters, and having multiple marketing around akihabara too. And Tomose is one of the most influential doujin artists in japan too.
COTE also doesn't need anime to survive. Slime's blue ball of sperm really needs anime to suck off the little bit of relevance. Lol
EDIT: Slime fanboys love to rely on past sales and don't even realize how irrelevant the series is now for this year. For sake, other isekai like Overlord and Re Zero have their own museums and hardcore fandoms, whereas Slime has none of that. It just shows how the casual fans care so little about the Slime series. Slime actually popular but more on the manga side. Majority of sales also come from Manga not Light novel.
