I do these about half the time I have a toastie as I just can not be arsed to clean the toastie maker afterwards. Sometimes I may give it a quick blitz in the microwave just to soften the cheese.

I used to know a culinarily challenged individual who used to get cheap white sliced bread, mild pre grated cheddar and combine the two in the microwave for long enough to completely melt the cheese and soggify the bread. He's grown up considerably from the 25yr old who did this and I wonder occasionally if he's still doing it

I use one of them toastie bags, make the sandwich, pop it in the bag and then pop it in the toaster. Doesn't always melt the cheese all the way but it's still great!
