Worsening symptoms around day 9-10 is a normal pattern for covid. It’s called the “second week crash”. Confirmed by covid ER doctor when I was admitted yesterday (day 10) for worsening symptoms. Sounds like you are doing the right things for mom. Keep it up and don’t hesitate to seek medical care if she begins to decline. Hope she gets better soon.
I had same thing - day 1-5 were bad; then 6-9 I thought I had gotten over it, then day 10 I felt like I got hit by a truck and started having breathing issues - and then slowly got better over days 11-13ish.
